PNG and GIF export problems Flash Elements CC
I'm having some trouble exporting transparent PNG's and transparent animated GIF's from Adobe's new Flash CS6 Elements, um, I mean Flash Pro CC.
a) Options to set transparent animated GIF (even when set as transparent in export dialog) is not working, spitting out images with the stage background. In CS6, you could go into Publish Settings for GIF and there one could specify these settings. These are no longer available in CC, and means I cannot export transparent animated GIFs. Back to CS6!
b) Transparent PNG export with artifacts - I have two vectors that have filters applied to them stacked on top of each other, on CC, I get strange transparent pixels in the middle of colour-zones surrounding the top image. On Flash CS6 there are none of these artifacts and exports as expected (using the exact same settings) - so back to CS6 yet again!
So now I constantly have to work in both in CC and CS6 (you cannot drag vectors from Illustrator CC to CS6), so I am constantly having to jump between versions of the same app, because CC suite doesn't play with CS6 suite, but CC is a bit of a bimbo that seems to mess up all the time, forcing me to go back to do even the most BASIC of things.
But hey, Adobe is a marketing company, as long as the marketing directors are happy with the product it's all good! Forget about those pesky users, too hard to please! Now I just need to remember to re-test every feature in new Flash CC to make sure that they actually work.
Should have never updated...The old version exported my lovely animated gifs correctly. What the hell?!

Color issues w/ .png and .gif files in CS5.5 Live view
Hi All,
I am having a bunch of trouble with my .png and .gif image files in Dreamweaver CS5.5. In Dreamweaver's design view everything looks fine but when I preview my pages in Live View or in a browser the colors in my .png and .gif files are way off. All my images are designed in RGB.
Any info anyone has to offer will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!GIFS contain a maximum of 216 colors (web safe palette)
PNG and JPG can contain 16 million colors (true color palette),
When you say the colors are "way off" we don't know what you mean.
Can you post a link to your web page?

How to decoding and encoding PNG and GIF images?
I could decode and encode JPEG images using following create functions which are in com.sun.image.codec.jpeg package.
JPEGImageDecoder decoder = JPEGCodec .createJPEGDecoder(inputStream);
JPEGImageEncoder encoder = JPEGCodec .createJPEGEncoder(outputStream);
But I dont know required package and functions to decode and encode PNG and GIF images. Please help me.Is the API that hard to follow?
ImageIO.read( file/stream/url)
ImageIO.write( image, format (e.g. PNG, GIF(1), JPEG), file/stream what have you)
1) Not sure if Java supports GIF saving, it might if you install JAI, or Java 6. -
I am trying to make a basic animation in photoshop. But when exporting as a .gif by using the "save for web" option, it will only preview half of the gif and when exported it only plays half of the .gifs animation and freezes in the middle of the animation.
So I have been messing around on it. And it looks like it has to do something with the framerate. If I lower that a bit it seems to move past the part it is stopping at. Is there anyway I can increase the amount of frames that it photoshop is current letting me do. ie. not increasing from 30fps to 60fps, but to make it so that I can render more than 500 frames because that is what the cap looks like right now.

Systematic and Never Ending Problems With Elements 7
Alright I'll start from the top:
I bought this software via the website a year ago. Since the very beginning I've had issues that have NEVER been resolved despite numerous sessions with the support personnel.
I download the software (after paying the over $100 for it) and discovered that I was given an incomplete version. Naturally I was heated. I've tried on at least 3 different occasions to have this rectified by the Adobe personnel who have tried, but always failed to solve the issue. That's the biggest problem. On to the others.
Now, when I go to make a movie, the sound i've recorded from the clip (i use Fraps version 3.2.2, yes the PAID for version) never is allowed to transition over. The clip is without audio when I add it into the software. The only work around I have for this, is that I export the clip via Windows Movie Maker and then add it into Adobe Premeire. Naturally this DESTROYS the video quality.
Third problem, the final quality of the videos I create is very poor. We're talking just NASTY. I can view the clips just fine and their quality is top notch before I export them out of the program. The moment they hit my desktop, well, they look like shark chum bait fed through a paper shredder.
Here's an excellent example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHJsf1ucajQ
Now, I know the quality on that video is trash because I had to export it through Windows Movie Maker to keep the game sound effects on the clip and then export it via Adobe. But, even on clips that purely adobe, that i've sacrificed the sound for, they look like trash.
Honestly, if i'm going to spend money on software I want my moneys worth.
I've been asked by scores of people (everyone knows I make and edit movies as a hobby) if I would recommend software for them to use; I've stopped recommending adobe. My entire experience with this software and company has been decidedly lackluster. I'm posting now after a year because I'm simply fed up.
I wanted to check and make sure it's not something I'm doing wrong. Considering that I paid for a complete version that Adobe miraculously never provided to me despite numeroues attempts, I thought that might have something to do with it.
So, online community, if you have words of wisdom, please share them. If not, I'd recommend moving to different software.

Fed Up CustomerWelcome to the forum.
Unfortunately, you found it rather late in the game. Let's look at a few points:
I download the software (after paying the over $100 for it) and discovered that I was given an incomplete version.
Because of the size of the program, and also the Functional Content (the extra Menus, Themes, etc.), the download is a two file process. The names of these files are similar, and many get confused, and think they are the same, only downloading and installing one, but not the other. This ARTICLE will give you the location and name of the two files. It was originally done done for PrE 7, but PrE 8 is tabbed on that page. First, the program needs to be installed, and then the Functional Content. Personally, I think that Adobe could make it more obvious, that one needs two files, and also rename the second archived file, so that it stands out as the one containing that Functional Content.
Now, when I go to make a movie, the sound i've recorded from the clip (i use Fraps version 3.2.2, yes the PAID for version) never is allowed to transition over.
FRAPS, and several other video-capture programs present problems, due to the specs. of the files that they create, especially the FPS and the CODEC used. To get some background on CODEC's, this ARTICLE will be helpful. PrE, just like its big-brother, PrPro, is designed around a miniDV tape workflow. There are other base workflows, like HDV and AVCHD, plus 100% DVD-compliant VOB, and a few others. However, when working with non-standard workflows, conversion outside of PrE is usually the best course of action.
For FRAPS, see this THREAD, this THREAD, this THREAD, this THREAD, this THREAD, this THREAD, and this THREAD. Note: that is but a start. Also, many of the replies in those have links to other threads. Plenty of reading.
Third problem, the final quality of the videos I create is very poor. We're talking just NASTY. I can view the clips just fine and their quality is top notch before I export them out of the program. The moment they hit my desktop, well, they look like shark chum bait fed through a paper shredder.
Without having the exact workflow, step-by-step, and then the Export/Share settings used, it is impossible to determine where the quality hit has come in, and how to address it.
Good luck, and sorry for your dissatisfaction,

Hi
Is the CSS and image export supposed to output anything
legible. Right now, it produces garbage that looks nothing like my
project. Images are distorted. Nothing lines up correctly. Has
anyone else had similar problems?
Why does the feature only support creating a single page? Is
there any way to get it to export all pages?
Why does the feature ignore behaviors? The HTML and image
export supports behaviors so why can't the CSS and image export? Is
there any way to get it to support behaviors?
ThanksProblem fixed by rebooting!

Problems opening PNGs and GIFs
Hi, I'm having a problem opening PNGs in Photoshop and Illustrator CS5. Also, I am able to open GIFs in Illustrator, but can't in Photoshop.
The following error message shows up for all the files I'm having trouble opening, "The file is in an unknown format and cannot be opened."
It seems to be a problem with all PNG files, both those I've created using Photoshop or gotten from other sources. Files I've previously had no trouble with are affected as well. Strangley the same GIFs that Illustrator has no problem with, Photoshop isn't able to recognize.Thx.

hi,
hope someone can help me...
i created a file in ID. you can see the specs here:
http://cpso2.gallaudet.edu/cpso/brian/mw-bleed.jpg
in the above image, you can see the bleed margin, and i made sure everything goes fully into the bleed.
so then i sent the export (PDF) to the printer. see it here:
http://cpso2.gallaudet.edu/cpso/brian/youth_savedate_final.pdf
so here i am excited thinking i did this right. then the prrpress department comes back and tells me the following:
"" I checked with my prepress dept. and they are telling me that the Document Setup that you are in will allow you to set your bleeds BUT will not hold the bleeds. You need to export and that will give you options to set bleeds. (This is a bit greek to me so if you have a problem, let me know and I will get her to converse directly with you).""
I thought I did this right. Can someone tell me what I did wrong in export and how to remedy the problem?
thanks - mike, the deaf guy. That's better.
It makes sense, really; you might want to send a pdf of the file to
the printers, who needs the bleed, and another of the same file to a
colleague, who wouldn't thank you for all that extra stuff round the
edges if he doesn't realize he can hide it in his reader. You
wouldn't want the bleed and slug bits to show if you posted an
'optimized for web' pdf on the web or emailed it to someone
interested in your courses. You can thus create different pdfs for
different purposes from the same .indd file.

Aperture and Flickr Export Problems - Missing Files
I have a MacPro, Aperture 3, and Flickr Pro account. I was planning on using Flickr as an online storage/back-up option for lower-res files. However, whenever I try to upload a project to Flickr files always seem to drop off.
For example, if I export a project with 446 files in it, when it gets to Flickr it'll say I only have 403 images. Likewise if I try a smaller project (e.g., 426 -> 404).
Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas what is the cause of this problem?
Also, any way to remove that 500 upload limit per project to Flickr? Flickr itself does not limit the number of photos you can store in a set.
Thanks!Maybe it's related to this bug?

Leica Monochrom and Lightroom export problems
I am using the latest version of LR on a 2011 Mac Book Pro. I am running into problems when I export Leica Monochrom DNG files that are shot AT AND ABOVE ISO 6400. Lightroom is brightening the files on export a lot so that the final exported file does not look anything like what my edit looked like. This only happens with full resolution exports. Other Leica MM users have experienced the same issue. I have photos and screen shots to prove this. What is the problem?
What I was hoping for was an original raw image with all the OP’s adjustments intact so I could demonstrate what was happening at various zoom levels and with different settings, but that seems overly difficult to come by so I’ll give my analysis of what is happening and what to do about it:
The brightening has to do with the micro-noise-grain that has been excessively sharpened making the image a mixture of mostly white and mostly black dots immediately adjacent to each other rather than continuous tone of a low-ISO image. This is not an error with LR or with the camera, and will happen with any such image from any camera. The “brightening” is merely the visibility of the white granules at 1:1 zoom. When a zoom level less than 100% is used, LR or Windows Photo Viewer or Mac Preview must determine how to combine multiple pixels together to represent one output pixel in the reduced-sized image. Different viewers use different methods to combine adjacent pixels into one. Some use Average, some use Median, some use the value of a single pixel position to represent the entire reduced-size combination pixel—this is called nearest neighbor and is the fastest but least accurate. LR is known to use a fast but inaccurate resampling algorithm which is why there is a warning on the Detail panel to use 1:1 zoom to judge sharpening and noise adjustments.
The problem here is that this lightening and darkening depending on zoom level is messing with toning adjustments, so how to tone and adjust such images, is to temporarily turn off Detail sharpening and turn up noise-reduction then adjust toning in Fit view. Then zoom in to 1:1 and adjust the noise-reduction up or down to remove most of the obvious grain, and turn up sharpen masking so all you’re sharpening is edges. Maybe even turn off the Detail slider (set to zero) to keep from enhancing micro-noise texture.
If you do want grain for artistic effect then do that after you’ve removed the ISO noise. The difference with high-ISO noise and added noise-grain is the high-ISO noise is single-pixel in size and will not be resampled accurately while the noise-granules created by the Effects panel can be control both in size and intensity so as not to respond negatively to resampling nearly as much.
If you are exporting images to nearly full resolution then dial back the export sharpening quite a bit. If you are resizing quite a bit smaller than any micro texture will have been averaged out by the resizing and adding more sharpening during Export sharpening will help things look crisp, again. -
Hello,
I've created a very basic layout with a header, some columns of text and an image. Everything is aligned perfectly, I've put all the text into rectangles, created a slice for the image, and nothing is overlapping. When I use the Export CSS and Images option, it just exports everything as one big image. What am I doing wrong here?
Thanks,
JasonSure, here you go:

Export in Flash MX works Flash 8 crashes
I have Flash 8 professional and I admit I am very much a
beginner at flash.
I have taken a basic flash class so I know a few things.
I got a template from template monster. I need to change some
things about the template for my employer’s needs.
My trouble comes when I export the site. The progress bar
pops up and quickly disappears. Then Flash 8 proceeds to crash.
The weird thing is that I have a friend that still has Flash
MX and I got him to try to export the site. It worked fine for him.
If I try the exact same file in Flash 8 it crashes.
I don’t have Flash MX and I don’t think I can get
it. Does anybody have any ideas why a site that exports in Flash MX
does not export in Flash 8?
Thanks in advance for any information.

Hey
Rick, you only made one mistake (but for you even that is
rare). Greg said
"with the tweens intact" ... and you read
"... when tweens interact.".
I'm sure you'll agree that with the clarification, it's not
confusing except the extent to which Greg expects or desires that
movement of objects - including "transitions"? - in the original
Captivate project be preserved after bringing it into Flash 8. As
far as CP1 - to - CP2 - to Flash 8 is concerned, CP1 projects seem
to me to be converted very well. And moving the (now CP2) project
conversion into Flash 8, there is little that won't come along
nicely.
Yes, Greg, including the tweens, which are preserved for the
objects I looked at specifically ... but the right person to answer
that question might be Mark (Fletcher) instead of myself. I
imported CP movies to Flash 8 only to see if it was being done
without the previous loss of non-supported elements (etc.) but I
have no intention of actually working with my Captivate projects
inside the Flash environment - during beta, now, or ever. I just
feel that the power of Captivate is sufficient for my purposes, and
importing it to Flash 8 would accomplish little except to put the
horse in hen-house. (That makes perfect sense to me, and is greatly
humorous as well; but if you don't "get it", I don't think I can
explain it.

Audio wont export to Flash 8/ Wont publish in Captivate
Hello,
I am trying to export my captivate project to Flash 8 with
audio backgrounds and clips for narration. For some reason, the
audio is not importing. Can somebody PLEASE help?
The reason I am exporting to Flash 8 is that Captivate hangs
when I'm trying to publish. There is a lot of full motion in this
CP file. I thought it was just being slow, so I let it sit
overnight and it was still not published..Any ideas? I would much
prefer to publish this in Captivate then Flash..It seems I found the solution. It's easy, but thanks for
replying without answering teh original posters questions... sorry
if I seem frustrated, but so far every single time I posted a
question about Adobe products, most of the time after a day or two
of trying to find the answer myself, and although even after days I
still thought (think) it was a very legitimate question - like how
do I find out if an MC is running, i.e. if the _current_frame+1 is
going to be played or not (answer: not possible, unless I overwrite
the movieclip class with one where all methods that could possibly
change the play status are overwritten to set a public class
variable like "is_playing" true or false) - I get no response.
The answer this time is - I say this to the original poster -
to go to the advanced audio dialog, export all audio, and then
export to flash works, it automatically includes the audio! It was
mentioned by someone above to use this method, but in a wrong
context - there also was the advice to then include the audio
manually in the Flash project. This is strange advice, since a) it
works automatically, and b) it SHOULD work automatically, so this
workaround from someone posting with an Adobe logo is not an answer
I would be satisfied with. I pay Adobe for working products, I can
come up with workarounds myself!
I do know how hard it is to answer user questions in such a
busy forum (I once worked at one of the major Linux companies for 5
years and occasionally voluntarily stepped into discussions on the
mailinglists), I'm just a little frustrated about never being taken
seriously... :-)
