PNG disappeared as an option in Photoshop Save dialog
To Bob Levine:
Bob,
Thanks for your reply to this post in the Creative Suite forum. Following your advice, I discovered that the difference between the successful "save as PNG" and the unsuccessful ones is a dark blue to medium blue gradient layer in the one that works and a dark blue to aqua gradient layer in the one that doesn't.
Is there a list somewhere detailing what doesn't work? Might you know any way to work around this problem?
thank you.
I figured out the problem. Somehow the files I couldn't save as PNGs had been changed to CMYK. Changing them back to RGB fixed and I was able to save to the PNG format again.

HI
Just wondering whether anyone knows if Adobe are planning on replacing the ancient Open/Save dialog with the proper one from the Windows API, or whether there is a plugin which will change this?
It really is irritating that they don't use it, as quite often I start in completely the wrong directory and have to go through about 50 folders before I get there.
I am using Adobe CS5.
Thanks
LukeQuite literally, it IS actually one from the Explorer API - it's just not one with the more modern Windows 7 look and feel.
I believe they set it this way intentionally because the product still can be installed on older operating systems (XP in particular). Even though it's old, a quite significant percentage of Windows users run XP still - nearly half of them by one count.
With Windows 7 Pro and above you *can* set up the icons along the left side to point to useful places, by the way...
Click Start, type gpedit.msc in the search box and hit Enter.
When the Local Group Policy Editor comes up, navigate into:
> User Configuration
> Administrative Templates
> Windows Components
> Windows Explorer
> Common Open File Dialog
Open the Items displayed in Places Bar setting.
Set it to Enabled, and edit the list of Places to display.

HELP! Modify SAVE dialog file format options?
Can someone please tell me how to modify the options in the save dialog?
Every time I save a file and have to choose the file type, I have to scroll through obscure and obsolete file types. Sure, I might need someday to save Scitex CT, or Photoshop DCS, but the chances are very slim. Some people surely use PIXAR and TARGA, but I don't. What the hell is an IFF? If I ever need a Portable Bit Map (really?) file it would be great if I could find it in a user defineable option pull down. I can pretty well guarantee that the file types I need are PSD, TIFF, JPEG, PDF, PNG and once in a blue moon, GIF.
Sure, this is a minor thing, but after years of saving thousands upon thousands of files its like being pecked to death by ducks.
Thanks.

I wonder how many folks know what that really feels like...
Do I really need to insert a smiley?

Creative cloud photoshop save as PNG
Is there away to save a document from the creative cloud photoshop as a PNG? I am trying to use a graphic without the background for indesign.
As long as you have transparency and turn off the visibilty or delete any other layers before saving as a png, it should save the transparency.
Either File>Save As>PNG or File>Save For Web>PNG-24 (with Transparency checked in the save for web dialog)
Indesign should also be able to use psd files. -

Applescript/Photoshop save JPEG dialog hangs open
re: OS 10.8.2 / Photoshop CS5.1
I have searched this issue but have not found a resolution. Every post I've found presents
"save current document in file filePath as JPEG with options myOptions"
as sufficient. When I try it, the dialog just hangs open:
This snippet works fine with TIFFs and PDFs:
tell application "Finder" to set filePath to (home as string) & "Desktop:TestFolder:Test.TIFF"
set thePosix to quoted form of POSIX path of filePath
tell application "Adobe Photoshop CS5.1"
set fileOptions to {class:TIFF save options, image compression:none, byte order:Mac OS, save alpha channels:true, save spot colors:true, embed color profile:true}
save current document in file filePath as TIFF with options fileOptions
end tell
But when I try to save a JPEG this way, the Save dialog opens with the correct options, but it just stays open. I even tried to exit through the GUI (commented out) but the script is clearly waiting for the save to complete - the GUI commands never execute.
tell application "Finder" to set filePath to (home as string) & "Desktop:TestFolder:Test.JPEG"
set thePosix to quoted form of POSIX path of filePath
tell application "Adobe Photoshop CS5.1"
set fileOptions to {class:JPEG save options, quality:8, embed color profile:true}
save current document in file filePath as JPEG with options fileOptions
delay 1
tell application "System Events"
tell process "Photoshop"
keystroke return
delay 1
keystroke return
end tell
end tell
end tell
This doesn't happen with a TIFF or a PDF. How do I exit the dialog?
Thanks for your help.Where's the dialog? Please post your full script.

Ctrl/Cmd click your preferred option in the Save As pull down list. Photoshop will default to that format from that point

Is it possible to save a TIFF file to non-interlaced 89a GIF option in Photoshop?
I need to set the background of GIF as transparent also.
regards,
SashiIf the background layer visibility is set to OFF, there is no option to save a gif file.
Is the transparent background in GIF and non-interlaced 89a option available in CS5 version or any other image editing software.

Photoshop save for web unknown error
Hi,
I am trying to save my .avi file to animated gif using photoshop save for web option, but i am getting a unknown save for web error. The .avi file is around 1.5 gb. tried to save the file with Photoshop CC and Photoshop CC 2014. My os is Windows 8.1 and i have 8 gb of RAM.
Other details:
Document size : 1800x1200
.avi Frame rate: 50 fps
Please help meWhat are the pixel dimensions and the length of the spot?
Can you break up the clip into smaller elements?
I suspect you may be trying to use a file format that is not a good fit for the task.
Why do you want to use gif? -

How do I get more text options in Photoshop? I have the basic package, but I would like more script options.
Thank you,
MaureenI don't suppose you have a full CC subscription? It comes with a feature called Typekit which I love. Along with an ever increasing range of top quality fonts, it has the best font manager I have used, and excellent search facility.
The web is full of additional font sites like dafont

Otherweise, Google is your friend
If you want Text Effects then Google will help you out there as well -

Problem:
I was downloading a large RAR file from the internet.
While downloading the file i didn't selected the save option instead i gave open with(winrar) option. I have some other rar files to combine with this file. So after the completion of this partial downloaded rar file is not saved in my system. How can i recover it.
Thanks n regards,
Ponnukumar.Shi,
Thanks for ur reply.
But i already searched the windows and looked for that file.. But its not anywhere to be found. See first while downloading i gave the open option instead of save. So after the completion of the download the file opened automatically in winRAR. I tried to extract that file then it gave me some error. After that i closed the winrar and searched for that file in windows with search option but its not seen anywhere.
Thanks n regards,

I have installed bootcamp by the bootcamp assistant and worked properly.
Then I have partitioned the OS X 10.8.2 and installed another Mountain Lion System and I have got two MAC boot options and Bootcamp disappeared from the Option menu. However, Bootcamp still remained in the Startup Disk in the System Preferences. When I tried to boot Bootcamp using the Startup Disk it did not boot and received a message that there is no bootable device. I have not lost any data and can read Bootcamp partition from both OS X systems. Please advise how can I boot Windows / Bootcamp again? Thank you.Recommendation 1: Use a VM for this. It's essentially a giant C.F. to do this with native booting, and is potentially fragile.
But if you're going to ignore that and do this anyway, realizing that it can break anytime in particular with OS upgrades, and that it's very difficult to impossible to resize the three volumes once you've installed the systems:
1. create three partitions, setting each to be the size for OS X copy 1, copy 2, and Windows respectively. The Windows partition needs to be set to MS-DOS format (actually FAT32) which later in the Windows installer you'll reformat as NTFS. Do not use Boot Camp Assistant to resize/partition the disk, it simply won't work for this use case.
2. install OS X copy 1
3. install OS X copy 3
4. Use gdisk (available at sourceforge) which is a command line only application, to create a new hybrid MBR adding only the last partition (Windows) to the hybrid MBR and setting it to be bootable. As a concequence you will not be able to see/share either OS X volume from within Windows. The Windows NTFS volume will be visible from within OS X.
5. Install Windows to the only partition its installer should see (confirm size), you'll need to format it NTFS first, and I suggest using the fast format option if available. -
