PNG File Error?!

Hi all,
I returned to an AE composition today after being away for about a week.  I had previously rendered all the compositions in Premiere with no hiccups and all included graphics visible and online, including the PNG file in question.  When I went back to finalize the project and export to a QT file, I discovered that the PNG file was offline, and when I went back to AE to fix the problem and reconnect the file I received the following message.  It refused to recognize the Photoshop modified PNG file that I wanted to feature, but I was able to succesfully import and utilize the original, non-modified PNG file.  Thoughts?

Hi,
Thanks for the reponse.  Okay I was pretty darn positive that PNGs were acceptable.  Thanks for the confirmation.  I am running After Effects CS5 version 10.0 on a Windows 7 OS.
Well the two PNG files I have referred to previously, one original and one modified in PS, are independent and the modified version was 'save as'ed  I had previously been in and out of this composition in the past couple of weeks before the error, and I would bet that you are right on with the corruption. It seems to functioning fine now.  Perhaps I will try re-saving the modified file under a new name, bring that into AE and simply copy/paste the transformations etc. to hte new layer.
Thanks again,
lindsay

    Hi, I'm not sure you are on the correct forum. This is the Flash Player forum. When you first open your thread, look to your right "More like This" and perhaps one of those forums would be helpful. Perhaps the Flash forum?

  • Error 1004 occurred at Open VI Reference in Directory of Top Level VI.vi- Check Path.vi- Read PNG File.vi- ValveUI.xctl:LoadBackgroundImage.vi- ValveUI.xctl:Facade 1.vi:29- ValveUI.xctl:Facade 1.vi.ProxyCaller

    I am trying to dynamically load the background image of an XControl facade using a 'LoadBackgroundImage.vi' that I have written. This SubVI has worked with a normal VIs panel before. It utilizes the 'Read PNG File.vi' from Labview to read in a transparent PNG file to overwrite the Facade background. When the XControl is loaded during design-time it generates an Error 1004 indicating that the 'Read PNG File.vi' is not in memory. I have tried to place a static reference to this vi to force it to load but I still get this error. What is the solution?

    LoadBackgroundImage_VI.PNG ‏33 KB

    Darin, thanks for your reply.
    The XControl Facade is rendered on the Main FP when the Main.vi is opened in design mode. Previously I have placed a PNG image onto the Facade pane (i.e. drag-n-drop the image onto the Facade FP during design) and it is displayed on the Main.vi FP in design mode when Main is loaded. However, when I include a call to Read PNG File.vi in the Facade I get the 1004 error. You may not see this error without using a Simple Error Dialog. This failure to find Read PNG File.vi in memory is the main issue.
    I have tried to use SubPanels before - they are useless for my purposes for many reasons (they don't show the underlying SubVI pane in design mode, they require the use of SubVI references to load - preventing the use of direct wiring to the SubVI connector, etc.).
    Do you know how to dynamically load and call 'Read PNG File.vi' so that Labview is forced to load the VI and then Read PNG File can load the PNG image? I can get 'Read PNG File.vi' to dynamically load and show property values but to call it with the 'Call By Reference Node Function' I need a strict type def to be generated, etc. So what are the steps needed to create a dynamic call to 'Read PNG File.vi'? I haven't seen any good working examples that show how to create the strict typedefs that are required etc. There is no right-click > Make Type Def > ...  for Read PNG File.vi or other ways to do this that I have noticed. Showing a finished example doesn't show you how to do it (menu selections, etc.). Or, do I have to hand construct these typedefs by reverse engineering the VI?

  • Unknown Error when trying to export movie with certain PNG files in Adobe Premiere

    Hi!
    I've made an animation video in Premiere Pro CC2014 combining apple pro-res live action with png animation. When trying to export, some parts of the video are no problem, and some (seemingly random) png files Adobe Premiere just doesn't like?? I don't understand why it will export some and not others?
    Help??!
    Thanks so much!!

    Error compiling movie can be anything from gap to bad clip, transition, effect, nest, you name it.
    Export from AME with preview open and watch were in the timeline it goes wrong.
    That is the place to fix it.

  • Error Compiling Movie: Unknown Error - compiling .mxf files and .png files

    Hi there, really hoping someone can help here!
    I'm attempting to output a Premiere Pro CS6 v.6.0.0 timeline through the AME V6.0.382 64bit and am getting the "unknown error" at various points during the output. The timeline contains .mxf files directly imported from a Canon MX105 recorded at 1980x1080 - the sequence is in the same resolution - 25p 50mb. It also contains .png slides, .jpeg slides, titles, transitions, 3-way color correction, mutliband audio compression, a volume plugin. I've tried "watching" the output as it renders and removing potential "bad frames" within Premiere but I've done this 3 times and they keep rearing their head later down the project, and I can't afford to remove any more clips.
    I'm working on an OSx v10.8.2 Mountain Lion Mac with 2.6g i7 w/8gigs RAM.
    Any help greatly appreciated, I'm quite new to this so any further information required to troubleshoot, just ask.
    Thanks,
    Paul

    I'm having (what appears to be) the same problem.  I've spent a total of 8 hours talking to Adobe tech support about it, and they've said they would look into it.  Here is a project containing two consecutive frames of my animation; the first (4965) does not load (and appears with the "Media pending" image if you try to view it), but the second (4966) loads fine.  In every other application I've tried, both images load fine.  Adobe support said "there's something wrong with the header" but I've looked at them with several programs (e.g. below) and can't see anything different between the file that works and the one that fails.

  • Getting PNG file parse error in PSE 8.0

    Cannot open PNG files in PSE 8.  Nor are the PNG files opening in any windows software on this PC.  Send them to another PC without PSE 8.0 and they are opening fine.  Need them on this PC due to creating a PSD in PSE 8?  Any advice?

    Can you please try importing those images first in organizer and then choosing them to edit in Photoshop Elements Editor.
    Also try to reset your preferences.  Here's how:
    1. Exit PSE.
    2. Open PSE just to the Welcome Screen and press Ctrl + Alt + Shift (Mac: Cmd + Opt + Shift) and keep pressing.
    3. Click on "Edit" from the Welcome Screen but keep pressing the keyboard keys - don't let up.
    4. You will get a little dialog box asking if you want to delete the settings file. Click "Yes."  You can let go of the keyboard keys now.
    This will rebuild the file for you and often solves the issue.
    Let me know if you have any comments.
    Thanks,
    Garry

  • "Unable to open project file" Error Message

    I pulled an all-nighter (13 hours of editing) last night to create a critical project in FCE 3.5.1 on my Intel iMac running 10.4.11 then left this afternoon for a few hours and shut down my machine. Came back tonight and tried to open the project (which I saved on my Maxtor 1 TB external drive along with all of the scratch disk files). To my absolute panic, it won't open the file now with an error message that simply says, "Unable to open project file". HELP!!!! Anyone have any suggestions?!?!

    In the past I found (and reported to Apple Feedback) the same bug Steve reports here, but I should recall that the problem:
    - only appeared in PAL projects (probably not the case for kscritch) - never heard of it in NTSC
    - was consistent in FCE 3.x, not so in FCE 4
    I made tests importing .psd images with transparency into PAL projects using FCE 4, and I had various behaviours: sometimes the project worked, sometimes I couldn't open the project again (as in FCE 3), sometimes I had error messages with inconsistent behaviour (msg like "file error", but the project opened and file was there...), etc. so I decided to do without.
    Now I only import .tif or .png images when I need transparency

  • Unable to open PNG files "not the right kind of document"

    I just noticed this error today when I tried to open several PNG files, some of which I created with Photoshop: "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document".
    I'm running Photoshop 9.0.2 on Windows XP Pro. Opening other file types (gif, jpg) works fine. I also noticed that in the save as dialog box that PNG is not a listed file type.

    PNG certainly is listed as a file type. I have saved many of them using Save As, many quite recently, using PSCS3; and I just did a couple in PSCS2. Here's the Save As box in PSCS2 with an 8-bit flattened image being saved as PNG:
    <br />
    <a href="http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1PSNAANh2tPbX1MMDLjmQLbHFqm91" /></a>
    <img alt="Picture hosted by Pixentral" src="http://www.pixentral.com/hosted/1PSNAANh2tPbX1MMDLjmQLbHFqm91_thumb.png" border="0" />
    <br />And here's the Save As box in CS2 with a 16-bit layered image being saved as PNG:
    <br />
    <a href="http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=145dp6qArIbj9k8JG23J1jGojM4imR1" /></a>
    <img alt="Picture hosted by Pixentral" src="http://www.pixentral.com/hosted/145dp6qArIbj9k8JG23J1jGojM4imR1_thumb.png" border="0" />
    <br />
    <br />Both PNG images opened properly. The second one opened as 16-bit, flattened (layers aren't preserved in PNG).
    <br />
    <br />And both of the above images were Saved As PNG from PSCS2, also.

  • Can't open PNG files in PS CC

    Hi.
    I can't open png-files in PS CC. The following error message appears (Translated from Swedish): Can't fulfill your request because it's not the right type of document/file type.
    Can anyone help me with this, please?
    Thanks

    Okay I have gone over some common problems. I don't know what else it might be.
    Google "photoshop will not open png"  and see if there are some answers we might have both missed.

  • Can't open .png file unzipped from an email in PSE 9

    I get the following error when I attempt to open a .png file that was unzipped from an email:
    "could not complete request because of a problem with the file-format module interface."
    What is unusual is that another employee can open the file using Adobe Photoshop CS. I am also able to open other .png files. I was informed that this file was created on a Mac. I am using PSE 9 on XP Pro.
    Any ideas to what may be causing this issue? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

    The OS should not make difference in this case.Try opening the same file through irfan view.

  • Can't open or save png files

    Hi, I'm very new to fireworks and since I installed it 4
    weeks ago I can't save or open png files. An error message appears
    stating An internal error occurred. I've read through other posts
    and because fonts kept coming up It needed doing anyway, I ran a
    clean install of my os, still no luck. All other file types are
    fine.
    Mac G5 - 10.4.9 running studio 8
    Any help with this would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

    My OS is 10.4.11. on 2 GHz Intel iMac.
    I reread my orignial post and noticed a typo. I can save png's with PS "save for the web," but can't open those just-saved png files.
    I did lots of things before I noticed that the png wasn't working. Don't know which may have caused a problem. Likely things? Well, I added a plugin for Ico. format. I deleted it because I thought it might have caused the conflict.
    Assuming that was the problem, what can I do to restore the png file format?
    I don't have disk warrior. I did run the maintenance utility yesterday. It runs crons, clears caches, deletes cookies, that kind of stuff.
    I've never had a problem with it disabling plugins or causing any problems. Haven't run disk utility for a few weeks. Would that help?
    I didn't download the replace png plugin from Adobe, but the original wasn't working anyway. I looked for a backup on the exernal drive, didn't find one, and downloaded another.
    Next, I did a Photoshop reinstall thinking that might fix the problem, but it didn't.  Which plugin folder should the png plugin be place in. I've never been sure why there are two format folders;  the folder in plugins, and the folder in Photoshop only.

  • Hi. I'm using illustrator cs6 on pc. I've made a scientific figure for a paper and now I'm trying to export as a png or save for microsoft office. Despite my figure being in the middle of my artboard, it always comes out bottom left in the png file or jpg

    Hi. I'm using illustrator cs6 on pc. I've made a scientific figure for a paper and now I'm trying to export as a png or save for microsoft office. Despite my figure being in the middle of my artboard, it always comes out bottom left in the png file or jpg. Must be making a school boy error! Please help!

    In similar cases, my solution is to "select all" then "deselect" only the artwork I want to keep and "delete". If I'm curious I may "cut" then "paste" to see what shows up in the center of the screen. it is usually some stray point. or other element out direct sight.

    Your first example will look for the png file in:

    Your second example will look for it in:
    /assets/ -- since the application mxml file is at root level
    but if you put /assets/  it will look for it in /assets/ no matter where the MXML/AS file is
