Png file not transparent anymore!!!

I had purchased a logo almost a year ago, I have been using it over and over again to place onto of my product photos. The file is a png file and it use to sho up transparent but now it doesnt and I dont know why?????????? Can anyone help me????

I have a wix created site and png files with transparent backgrounds are showing with a black blackground in Firefox for Android. They show transparent in all other browsers I have tried.
I have tried saving the file as a gif, as a smaller png, interlaced, not interlaced, png 8, png24. It still shows black in Firefox for Android.

Photoshop CS2 Cannot read PNG files--"Not Enough Memory"

Hi! I have a bit of a problem. I've scoured the interwebs for days but can't find a solution.
My copy of PSCS2 was able to open PNGs in the past, but it just up and decided it doesn't want to anymore. I'm serious--I can't think of any major overhaul or anything I did to cause it, but now it won't read them correctly. It says there's "not enough memory," which doesn't really make sense, when I have a Macbook Pro and nothing running in the background. On top of that, the particular files I've been trying to open are barely 100kb. I've used canvases upwards of ten thousand square pixels in dimension with no problem.
This is with any PNG file. It's not an "incorrect extension" problem, because I made these files and just need to reopen them to edit things.
Here are some screenshots that show what's been happening; nothing exciting, but just in case someone notices something I don't:

Now, this is strange.
I restarted my computer and now the message has changed--to a simple one, but albeit still confusing.

Placing a PNG file with transparency

If I have a psd / Png file on Photoshop that has text with no background (transparent), and I do a Place of that file into Illustrator, I get a white background in additiotion to the Text.
How do I stop the white background from placing withing the Illustrator? I have Illustrator CS3 and Photoshop CS3

Half a decade later, I am getting the same problem as the original poster (although I am using Illustrator CC 64bit on Windows 8).
I am trying to 'place' a PNG graphic in Illustrator, The PNG has a transparent background, which is being honoured fine in other programs (e.g. web browsers - even in its icon in Windows Explorer).
However when I place it in Illustrator, the transparency doesn't work: instead the background is displayed as an opaque colour. It stays that way if I output to a PDF from Illustrator.
The PNG in question is a 'paletted' type (I think it has a palette of 256 colours) - one of which is set to be transparent.
Does Adobe Illustrator not support transparency in paletted PNG files?
(I'm aware that you can generate a 24-bit PNG with the transparency done as an 'alpha channel'), but this is wasteful for many simple types of graphic, creating a much bigger PNG file size.

Using PNG files with transparent background - Please Help

I just purchased Elements to do a very specific task which I can’t do in Aperture. I am a former photoshopper (V.5) and excited to be back.
I am doing a book/scrapbook and the majority of my text will be my own handwriting. I use white paper and black ink and I scan in at the highest settings. My goal is to create my handwriting on a transparent background so I can place it in my book as I choose. For this specific project (which is very large in scope) I wanted to keep my image/file management within Aperture.
So I import my file (of my handwriting) from Aperture and successfully saved with a transparent background. Adobe said I had to save it as a PNG file. I noticed when I saved in Photoshop there was a warning saying I had to save as a copy.
Aperture does not see the file when I try to import it back. My interchange between aperture and photoshop is fine otherwise. This problem only seems to be with “unflattened” layered images. When I flatten the image it is recognized by Aperture, but I lose the transparent background in Photoshop.
If anyone sees flaws here or has a suggestion to “isolate” and save my personal handwriting image files I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Would probably work best if you first export from Aperture as PSD (if possible, like Lightroom) and then save to preserve layers.
From the PSD save as PNG24 rather than PNG8 which is better for preserving transparency.

Saving PNG file with transparency

In my application I generate "BufferedImage"s with transparent pixels. When I try to write them using ImageIO.write() in PNG format, the transparency information is lost.
Can anybody send me working code for this problem?

What are you using to view the PNG? Are you sure it is a viewer that supports PNG transparency? Internet Explorer and the previewer built into Windows do not fully support PNG transparency so maybe that's the problem. See http://entropymine.com/jason/testbed/pngtrans/ for more info. I know for a fact the following code will generate a transparent PNG. Photoshop will read the transparency correctly but IE won't.

Unable to open PNG files "not the right kind of document"

I just noticed this error today when I tried to open several PNG files, some of which I created with Photoshop: "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document".
I'm running Photoshop 9.0.2 on Windows XP Pro. Opening other file types (gif, jpg) works fine. I also noticed that in the save as dialog box that PNG is not a listed file type.

PNG certainly is listed as a file type. I have saved many of them using Save As, many quite recently, using PSCS3; and I just did a couple in PSCS2. Here's the Save As box in PSCS2 with an 8-bit flattened image being saved as PNG:

 Both PNG images opened properly. The second one opened as 16-bit, flattened (layers aren't preserved in PNG).
 
 And both of the above images were Saved As PNG from PSCS2, also.

.png file not showing up on windows VM

I have users who are having issues seeing .png files when using a windows VM. This is a windows environment. The business partner is using a Mac pro and creates the .png file in creative suite and saves the file to a windows 2008 server. When they try to insert the file into a powerpoint on their Windows 7 VM, they cannot find the file. It shows up about 10-15 mins later. But they can access it from the Mac right away. We are running Extremez IP on the server. Is this a known issue with this OS/macs in windows environment/extremez IP?

Create .png file with transparency?

I'd like to create an image on the server side, and save it as a .png file, and set the transparency. Is there some sample code or an article that would tell me how to get started? Thanks.

Some files not showing anymore in folders on smb-share (lc_ctype error)

I use a shared folder on my iMac for my work projects.
After the upgrade to Mavericks, I noticed that Dreamweaver CS 6 did not show all files and folders anymore in several projects.
This is on a Windows 7 machine.
The same thing happens when in FileZilla, so it's not a specific Dreamweaver issue.
When I go to a troubled folder in FileZilla I get this error (in Dutch):
"Een lokale bestandsnaam kon niet gedecodeerd worden. Zorg ervoor dat de LC_CTYPE (of LC_ALL)-omgevingsvariable juist is ingesteld. Totdat u het probleem oplost, kunnen er bestanden ontbreken in de bestandslijsten. Er zal geen waarschuwing meer getoond worden gedurende deze sessie."
Translation:
"A local file could not be decoded. Ensure that the LC_CTYPE (or LC_ALL) environment variable is set. Until you solve the problem, you are missing files in the file list. There will be no warning displayed during this session properly."
When I go to thew same folder in Windows Explorer all files are shown.
When I use Dreamweaver CS6 on the iMac no errors occur and every file just shows fine.
It seems it only occurs in random directories of the local files of website projects I maintain with Dreamweaver
If anyone ones how to fix this, I would realy REALY appreciate this.

PNG files not displaying - is this a problem in BC / Flexslider2 issue slider too big

I have uploaded a site dmrural.leapfrogdesign.com.au/index.html and I noticed my png files are not displaying. Is there a problem with using png files on BC?
Also I know this is not BC related but I would really appreciate if if someone could tell me how to reduce the size of my flexslider (i am using bootstrap 2.3.2) - it's my first site in bootstrap.

PNG files not opening in Fireworks in XP

In Windows Explorer, when I click on a .png file, it opens in
the picture viewer, not Fireworks. I've tried to associate .png
files to Fireworks, but it does not work. What steps do I need to

HI Tracey, hmmm this is unusual indeed.I'd concur this is not pecifically a Compressor.app issue, more likley the sub-coponents.
Just another thought... would you have a look in /var/logs/ or use the console.app to see if there are any error messages issued by Quicktime X.app when you attempt to open the seond clip? It was usual that QT would display an error through the QT ui.... but who knows.
There maybe some other error messgae indirecty related by an asynchronous process that is kicked off by QT through the framework... again who knows.
Anyway if you see any unual error messages relating to the DECODing of the clip, you might post these for the readers to see and perhaps attempt then to isoltae the QT X opening issue.
post your results back for others to see if you can.

Png files not uploading

I'm using a couple of png files on a page. If I upload the page and choose to upload the dependent files - which would include the png files - the png files never upload to the server. Jpg and gif files get uploaded fine, but not png. When I view the files in local view, the png files have red slash through them. What the...? CS5.5 is what I'm using. Any clues?

The red slash means that your png files are "cloaked" (to use DW lingo).
Cloaking is a feature in DW which enables you to mark file types or folders to be excluded from site operations such as Get and Put. e.g. you might upload a huge file just once then exclude it from future Puts to speed up your workflow. Sounds like your pngs have been cloaked inadvertently.

Why does Adobe draw create png files, not vector?

I cant work out why Adobe creates png files. I have old Adobe ideas files and these work fine as vector graphics, but draw just keeps creating png files when I need vector, can you help please

Sadly you can't. The model Adobe has set up is that you need to send the file to Illustrator, and can only send to Illustrator CC - not even CS6. Even though I have CC and can use the feature, it is really annoying that it can only spit out low quality pngs as sometimes I want to just knock up something quickly on my iPad, export it and mail it on. The only real option is to stick to using Ideas.
Updated: It looks like they may have lifted the restriction on you having to have a Creative Cloud account as of the last release, so maybe you can now export to CS6

Why are my mjpg files not streaming anymore going from version 36 to 37?

The video streams from my axis cameras on version 36 but on version 37 it gives a still image. When i refresh the page it returns the image as it was when i refreshed it but it does not stream anymore. I have updated all the plugins and if i downgrade to version 36 it works again.
