PNG scales wrong on import

Hey guys,
So I have a 1920x1080 artboard, and I'm trying to place a 1920x1080 png into it. It comes in, but is so massive I can't zoom out enough to see it all, and trying do a scale only gives me a warning that scaling (up or down) would create too big of an image. When I convert the image to a TIFF, it places fine. Is PNG normally problematic in Illustrator?

Is it a PNG with a total size of 1920x1080 pixels or is it that size in Photoshop or wherever and then with a high resolution so the real size is much larger?

Width Wrong for Imported Graphics in Frame 9

Has anyone else had issues with Framemaker detecting the wrong width when importing graphics? As an example, when I import a JPG of a button that should be 21 x 21 pixels, Framemaker displays the width as 24px and the height as 21px. This results in a smashed graphic. If I adjust the dimensions of the graphic in FrameMaker to the correct dimensions, then print the PDF, the right border of the image is off.
I have tried capturing the graphic a variety of different ways, and I always experience the same results. I can import the graphic into Captivate or Word and the sizing is correct. Any ideas? Thanks!
I am using FrameMaker version 9.0p237 as part of the Technical Communication Suite 2.

I just tested this with a sample file at the 21x21 dimensions, and you are absolutely correct. FM9 screws up the dimensions (and default dpi resolution) for PNG and GIF files. I also tried BMP and TIF equivalents and these were ok. FM8 does not have this problem, so it looks like Adobe played with the PNG and GIF filters a bit (perhaps to get rid of all of the extra colours coming in).
For a JPG or PNG import of a 21x21 at 96dpi, FM9 seems to think that it is 24x21 at 110dpi. FM8 gets it right.
For a GIF import of the same, FM9 thinks it is 22x21 at 75dpi. FM8 got it right.
What's also strange is that if the dimensions are both even, e.g. 20x20 at 96dpi, then FM9 gets it right for the JPG, PNG and GIF. However, if the *first* dimension is odd, e.g. 21x20 it gets it wrong again as before, but if the second dimesion is odd, e.g. 20x21, the it gets it right. VERY WIERD!
It's definitely a BUG.
I would suggest that you either use BMP or TIF for now OR try to increase your icons by 1 pixel to make them an even size, e.g. 22x22.
I'd also recommend that you not use JPG for these, but rather GIF or PNG, because you may generate some unwanted artifacts in the JPG due to the lossy compression used.

Size & scale images before import or let iBooks Author do it?

I'm importing images into iBooks Author and wondering if I should size them and compress them to roughly the size I need them on the page thus redicing their file size. Or go with the highest resolution and quality and just let iBooks Author compress and scale the pictures. Wonder also what gets the best result.
Is there any benefit to importing high resolution TIF or highest quality JPEGs???

Open the Help files and check the section dealing with Graphics.
Better, if you have an iTunes Connect ( if not get one you will need it) account you should open it look for Deliver your Content, top right are a group of PDFs download them.
One is the Asset guide - which give full info about graphics. Including.. Tiff is not acceptable.
Maximum image file size is 3.2 megabyte. For iPad retina ( and basically everything) 2048 x 1536 rsolution is of choice really, subject to the file size and the books size max of 2 gig. Unless all your images are intended for full screen, re-size to suit your layout.
iBA does not compress or scale anything.. thats your job.. and if you get it wrong.. the book will be rejected by the preview team until you sort it out.
Save yourself work and time, download and study the asset guide and the help files.

Colour wrong in imported image

Hi
Just imported a .png image to a blank slide. Published as a
stand alone file. When viewed the colour of the image was
completely wrong - blues turned into vibrant greens.
Had tried importing a .jpg but nothing happened when I hit OK
Any ideas

Scale changes when importing DXF to Ai

Hi,
When importing DXF to Ai (V15.1), the scale/size of the object (a gear) is all wrong....
Is there a way to keep the actual size of the drawing to be identical to the one in the DXF file?

In AI, you can change the units in preferences to cm or mm. You create the DXF file in cm or mm units in CAD, and when you OPEN the DXF in AI, you can choose the scale = 1 , units = 1 millimeters or centimeters. Older versions of AI had scaling problems with DXF that were never resolved, but I think AI 5.1 has resolved that issue.
Are you having a scaling issue that is unrelated to inches verses mm or cm ?

Aspect ratio wrong when importing from QuickTime Pro

Movies shot with Cannon still camera came out sideways. I used QuickTime Pro used to rotate them. They then look fine. However, when I import them into iMovie HD6, they remain vertical but are flattened down. I am sure it's a settings thing but this recent PC convert needs help!

So you shot in "portrait" instead of landscape?
I hope these are 320X240 instead of 640X480 files.
Easiest fix it to create an all black image file and use it as a background in QuickTime Pro.
Make the image 640X480. Import with QT Pro.
Select all and Copy.
Switch to your 320X240 movie (now 240X320), select all and "Add to Selection & Scale (Edit menu).
Open Movie Properties window.
Highlight the video track and adjust its offset and dimensions. Set its track "layer number" lower than the image file layer number. Negative numbers can be used.
Once happy with the file export to DV Stream.
Use the .dv file in iMovie.

Propper scale of an imported image

Hi,
I want to pan over a larger panorama photo (size 8000px x 1500x).
If I drag this photo in the timeline, it is scaled to fit horizontally.
The problem: This scaling is assumed as 100% and if I rescale it (via Edit Effects) to fit it vertically the photo stays blurry and on a very low resolution. How can I get a photo in its original resolution into PE9?

First, per my books and the FAQs to the right of the forum, you should NEVER use photos larger than 1000x750 pixels in size
unless absolutely necessary. It nearly always chokes the program.
Then (also per my book), BEFORE you import the photo into your project, go to Edit/Preferences and uncheck the option to Scale to Frame Size so that your photo will not be comformed to the frame size. (If you've already imported the photo, you can right-click on it on the timeline and uncheck this option.)
Finally, when working with photos, press Enter to render your timeline whenever a red line appears above the clips. When the red lines turn green you'll see a much more accurate preview of your final, rendered video.

Receiver Channel wrong after import

Hi,
i Have imported the configuration scenraio. Everything is looking fine.. but only the receiver channel is empty.. it is showing an empty file receiver adapter...
i cross checked the transport several times..nothing strange in it. Why is it going wrong?

As per i know Whenever basis team transports the Channel to another server few parameter will be go as blank and its SAP standard because the Development or Quality and Production systems configuration are different and the Quality system configuration should not go to production that's why few parameters (Server ,User ID , password and Folder structure) are empty while transport and basis team will configure as a "TBC " or any other temp parameter else they cant activate the Objects.

Excise Base Value wrong for import

HI expert
i have import po Value is 1000, and my custom duties(inventerised) is 100,2,1.
But when i am doing capturing excise in migo , my excise base value is coming 1100, it must come 1103.
Kindly let me know were i m missing

IDOCs sequence is mixed in processing - wrong receiver import sequence

Hello,
we are working with self defined IDOCs to send accounting data to another system.
The process is that regularly a high number of IDOCs is generated, lets say 1000 / 10 min.(but only once a day) and sent to XI.
The Idocs have a mandatory sequence from business perspective.
They are moved to XI and in SXMB_MONI we can see that they are received in the
expected sequence from the IDOC sender.
Having a look at the receiver side something is wrong.
The first IDOC coming in is sent to the receiver as one of the last of this .
So the IDOCs are sent to the receiver in a wrong sequence.
Currently we are thinking about a BPM with correlation to handle his problem.
But possibly there is an easier solution e.g. influencing the queue?

It is possible to serialize the Idoc's when sent from your SAP system itself.

Wrong Apex import application

Hi people.
After migrating to Application express 3.1, I discovered the Apex features in SQLdev.
Finally, today I tried to import an application inside SQLdev that I'd exported yesterday from another instance.
The app imported without error messages, but when I run the application, strange characters (Ã± / Ã¡) are replacing special spanish characters as á and ñ letters.
I'm used to change the settings of character set values of NLS_LANG and other environment variables in installation of products and prior to run IMP and other utilities, due I run translated versions of Oracle Application Express and Oracle Database XE, but in this case, the procedures to run the Apex import inside SQLdeveloper don't include any place to change any international settings.
After this failed try, I imported the same export app file using the Application express import utility, without errors, and displaying the "special" characters in the right way. (Then, the export file is correct)
SQL dev didn't foresee this or I'm loosing some in the way?

FM9 - RH8 wrong format import

Hello,
I have a big document in FM9 with hyperlinks. The hyperlinks are visible through a special character design (blue with underline). After importing in RH8 the text after the hyperlink until the next linebreak is also blue and underlined. Are there any known isues about that problem?

As a quick fix, highlight the text that should not be hyperlinked, right click on it and select Remove Hyperlink. You should be left with just the required text hyperlinked.

Saving PNG files in Ps. Importing background-less files into Pr. What's the deal?

Recently, sometimes I can save A PNG file in Ps and sometimes I can't.
Also, PSD files are not supported in Pr.
Without being able to save a PNG, a PSD without a background seems to be my only option...
Thoughts?
