PnP BIOS Extension fault

I've got a MSI KT6 DELTA-FIS2R Motherboard and have a yellow son under hardware on the Pnp BIOS Extension. This has been this way from O got the motherboard som months ago. Have tried to update drivers but it doesnt help. Does anyone know how to fix this?
What does that thing do? Hasn noticed any problems in that matter either.
Trond

Hello !!
This is not a Nvidia Driver issue, the driver comes from M$.
I would try to deinstall it, after restart it should be reinitialised.
Male also sure to check your PNP Bios settings........it should be enabled, IOAPIC also , MPS Version should be at 1.4 .
Good Luck

  • T400: How to disable the Intel Management Engine Bios Extension?

The first thing my T400 (type 6474-BD2) does at boot up is to initialize the Intel Management Engine Bios Extension.
This takes about 2 minutes before the operating system boots.
    Do I really need this?
Is there a way to switch this off?
    Thanks,

If i'm right, it is Intel AMT - in the BIOS under "Config" - "Intel (R) AMT"

  • Help, BIOS clearing Fault!

I was working on this board: 845GVM- Vk0410912653 manufactured in 2005. I had inadvertently forgotten to restore BIOS jumper  :bonk:to normal. The MB worked for a few days and stopped working later on. Now, the Proc. fan spins for a few seconds only. Could you please let me know MSI repair workshop in India.
    Thanks

If you had set the jumper incorrectly, and then put it back, and the system worked for a few days, then that can't be the source of the problem.
    Please read the >>Posting Guide<<

  • AT-GPIB/TNT PnP and Sound Blaster 16 Clashing

    Hi Group
    The Story is:
I have had a AT-GPIB/TNT PnP on a old Pentium 75/Win 95 Machine doing some testing, and havn't had a problem with it.
I now wanted to install a Creative Sound Blaster (Vibra) 16, also PnP ISA, card for basic audio analysis measurements.
The problem is when the Sound Blaster card is installed the PnP BIOS doesn't recognise the GPIB card at all, even with PnP
    disabled.
    Has anybody seen this before?
Could it be that the PC can only handle 2 ISA PnP cards (there is also a PnP network card)?
Would I be better of with a PCI SB card.
    Any help would be gratefull
    Tim S

    Tim,
I had similar struggles with a 1995 vintage Pentium. My ISA GPIB conflicted with PCI sound card and PCI network card. It
tooks me hours to hit upon a sequence of installing the cards, and manually locking in the resources, in order to get them all
    working.
Some general suggestions: get back to a configuration that works, say without the sound card. Make note of the resources for
the network card and GPIB card. While your there, examine the other possibilities. You can select other GPIB resource
configurations and see what the I/O range, INT and DMA settings would be. For example, some GPIB resource configurations
don't use INT and DMA at all. Write all of this down.
Then install the sound card, without the GPIB. See what resources it wants, and explore what other configurations it might be
happy with. Sound cards are tricky, because they usually use a lot of resources because they have a lot of functions: wave,
midi, mixer, etc. Some also have "legacy drivers" that mimic the older DOS based sound cards, for backwards compatibility
with games. You may be able to install the sound card and then remove some of these "extra drivers."
With sound card working, and the network card working, reinstall the NI488 software. Then power down and install the GPIB
card. Reboot. You may get lucky and everything just works.
More likely, the GPIB will work and the sound card won't. Go check the GPIB card resources and you'll probably see that the
NI488 drivers snagged one or more of the INT or DMA channels that the sound card was using. Try a different GPIB
configuration, or manually edit the DMA and INT settings to NONE. Also check for I/O range conflicts. (Consult your written
list, because the conflicts won't show in Device Manger -- since the sound card's not working it's not using any resources!)
Hopefully, by telling Device Manager to NOT use Automatic Settings, you can get the GPIB working and still leave enough
resources available for the sound card. Which you will probably have to go back and reinstall, from scratch. Possibly a few
times before you get everything to fit.
How bad do you want that sound card ? :~)
Isn't (Microsoft) plug and play wonderful?
p.s. you might also consider using CMOS setup to disable any motherboard resources you are not using, for example a COM port
that's not connected to anything. Remember to write down EVERYTHING, you do so you can put it back if you have to.
    Good luck!

  • How the Video BIOS works in Windows.

    Hello,<o:p></o:p>
I was looking at the hardware resources assigned to my graphics card and noticed the memory range usually mapped for the video ROM C0000h
    - C7FFFh was not assigned to the card.<o:p></o:p>
I looked into it and found that the ROM had been disabled. I know the video BIOS isn't used any more as it runs
in a 16 bit environment and device drivers are used to access the hardware. What about when Windows is running in an SVGA mode using VESA BIOS Extensions (VBE), for example when loading the splash screen or if a display driver can't be loaded. Doesn't
Windows need to use the Video BIOS for this?<o:p></o:p>
I disabled my graphics adapter so that Windows was using the VGASAVE driver and the ROM was still disabled. I'm just wondering
    how this works?
So basically my questions are does Windows disable the video BIOS and if so how does Windows use the graphics card and VBE in SVGA modes without being able to use the video BIOS?
    Any help would be appreciated,
    Thanks.

  • Extended BIOS Password

    Hi together,
when entering the BIOS Setup on my T430 there is an option called Extended BIOS (or something like this). However, it demands a passoword. What's the password? What can I do there?
    Kind regards,

    Go to Solution.

    Dear thomas-kloiber,
I was looking into your issue and on my T430 the Extended BIOS your talking about is found on hitting enter on start up then control P then 1 to enter into Intel Management Engine BIOS Extension v8.0.0.0063/Intel ME v8.0.12.1498 copyright 2003-12.
What I found is that the password was also set on mine even though I don't remember ever setting it.
    Here is the link: http://support.lenovo.com/en_GB/downloads/detail.page?DocID=HT003903
    Even though its for ThinkCentre M55p (type 8798, 8800, 8802, 8804, 8808, 8811) it will work on T430.
Let me know if you have any issues as I can do the same steps on mine if you need me too.

  • "AMT Options" missing from HP 2540p BIOS "System Configuration" tab

I used to have an HP Elitebook 2540p Core i5. I recently got a Core i7 version.
The old machine had an "AMT Options" tab that could be used to set options to make it possible to see the AMT MEBx (Management Engine BIOS Extension) at boot time. This is shown in this picture:
My new Core i7 machine is missing this option, as shown here:
I need this option so I can enable the AMT serial-over-lan feature for debugging.
I updated my BIOS from F09 to F50 (the newest) but the option didn't appear. I went to the "Set Security Level" setting which seems to control what stuff is shown and what isn't. But it didn't have an AMT Options option.
Can anyone tell me how to get this option back? All HP Elitebook 2540p should support AMT right? Because this manual seems to indicate it:
    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02958196.pdf
I also tried doing "Restore Defaults" and "Reset BIOS security to factory default" froim the "File" tab in the BIOS
(Also I tried just hitting ctrl-p repeatedly at boot to try and get into the MEBx but it didn't work
Thanks for any help you can provide (but I know this is a pretty hard/uncommon question)

  • P35 Neo-FI: after flashing bios, Win XP won't start (BSOD)

    Hello board,
I was a moron and did a bios upgrade from Windows, using Live Update 4. The flash seemed to finish normally. However, after the flash my Windows XP install wouldn't start, resulting in a blue screen of death ("Stop: 0x0000007E" etc). I used the rescue floppy to flash back to the (presumably) original bios version, with no change, still BSOD. I have been able to flash the bios again by using a bootable USB stick. (I couldn't use the Forum Flasher from my old notebook, so I used MSI's guide to creating a USB flash stick.)
The version I flashed back to from the rescue floppy is 1.A0 (1.10). I'm not sure what the newer(?) version Live Update offered me was. I was confused with the version numbers and looked for a newer version manually. I ended up flashing to 1.19, downloaded from MSI's server (http://download1.msi.com/files/downloads/bos_exe/7360v19.zip), which is what I have now. Still same the problem. I've cleared up the CMOS several times, after most of these flashes (but not all).
Starting a fresh XP install results in the same BSOD after first reboot (after copying files to the disk). I also booted up (in 1.A0/1.10) an old Linux Ubuntu Live CD, which gave this warning:
"Warning! Your PnP BIOS caused a fatal error. Attempting to continue. You may need to reboot with the "nobiospnp" option to operate stably. Check your vendor for an updated BIOS. get_dev_node: unexpected status 0x28"
I'd be grateful to any suggestions!
The system in question: P35 Neo-FI, Core 2 Duo E4500, 2 * 1 GB Kingston DDR2 800, MSI Radeon HD 4670, Samsung 1614N IDE hard disk, an LG DVD drive, Corsair CX400 PSU.

make sure you change the settings for ide/sata settings in bios.

  • T400 startup INTEL ME bios problem

I have just bought my T400 about one and a half months ago. But recently, it always has problems to boot. When I connect the AC power, and press the power button, the "Lenovo thinkpad" page is OK. But the next page with the title "Intel(R) Management BIOS Extension", it prompts "intel(R) ME unconfiguration in progress", and stays there without any response! I have to press the power button for a while to shut it down. I need to repeat the above process for a couple of time, and maybe one time it can successfully boot to the MS Window xp page. What's more, I could not boot up with the battery attached to the machine, even when I plug in AC power at the same time! I am sure that the battery is charged and have no problem.
I also tried to disable intel ME by configuring bios setup, but it doesn't work. It will stay at a black screem, and could not startup either.
Hope that someone can offer help here!

Thanks for your reply! Well, initially, there is a prompt saying "Press <ctrl-p> to enter Intel ME setup", but recently, it never show that again. When I press <ctrl-p>, I can not go to the setup for ME. I suspect that the Intel ME BIOS has some problems ...

  • Satellite A100 is locked due to the fingerprint BIOS & user password

    Hi all
I've got my A100 at my job, with TouchChip fingerprint recognition a year ago. On the initial installation I have recorded my fingerprint from the windows interface.
Six months ago, I had to reinstall windows XP because of a non repairable virus infection. I've installed WXP and downloaded all the drivers and additional software from Toshibas site.
I have NOT recorded again my fingerprint, and I have NOT enabled the TouchChip software this time. My entire problem was only an annoying message at logon time that said "You haven't recorded your fingerprint yet . . ." and that was all.
After a 2 week trip out of town ( My A100 was locked in my desk, powered OFF-no connection to mains) at the first boot, TouchChip software came back from the grave ! ! !
"TouchChip Bios Extension" screen appeared after power on, and my finger is required to load in WXP ! ! !
At WXP user logon dialogue the additional message "You haven't recorded your fingerprint yet . . . is still here, but I can NOT boot the machine at all, without my fingerprint. After some digging in PowerProtector suite (?) I found an option that said "Enable or Disable the use of fingerprint for BIOS System and User passwords" or something like that.
I disable this, and the machine asks for reboot. This was the last time I saw the desktop.
After the boot the system asks for password. BUT I HAVE NOT SET ANY SYSTEM OR USER PASSWORD!
    Is this possible?
    I've done something wrong?
    What's the solution?
I'm locked out; I don't know why and how the BIOS is locked with a password (so I can't unlock it).
    Please somebody help.
    Regards, Georgios

I don't know what exactly A100 notebook you have but it looks like the notebook was delivered with the preinstalled Vista OS.
You have installed XP and the single XP drivers from the Toshiba page.
But from my understanding the BIOS must be updated too! The Satellite A100 series supports an special XP BIOS version. If the BIOS was not updated then the notebook could run not correctly.
I don't know if this could have a bad influence on the fingerprint but nothing is impossible!
However, fact is that BIOS asks for the password. If you don't know this you will have to delete it on other way...and this can be done only by an authorized service provider in your country.
Ask the technicians for the help and explain the whole story! Maybe they will remove the password for free!
    Bye and good luck

  • Please... BIOS help for MS 6340 ver 1

I am trying to help a friend get her old Systemax 900mhz Athlon going again.  I believe this Forum is my only hope.  The board is a MSI  MS 6340 ver 1.  which is not a normal retail board.    Is it possible to get a free BIOS download that will work with this board     POST says it is AWARD Modular BIOS v 6.00PG… then on another line of the POST it says  Award Plug and Play BIOS extension v1.0A….   The problems are 1) XP will not reload and gives a stop  2) the bios does not detect IDE2 hardward  3) The system reboots randomly… sometimes just over and over. 4) at reboot,  the memory test repeats again and again.  You have to Esc to get past this problem …..    CMOS has been cleared and everything unplugged except HDD,  video (reseated),  and 1 strip of RAM.  Then  I plugged in a known good 350w PS. This did not help.  The WD HDD passes the extended test using the WD dos utility.  I also tried new IDE cables.  I know of nothing else to try except a BIOS flash…    Many thanks in advance..  I know the board may be dead, but I have so much work in it that I don’t want to give up without trying a BIOS update. Thanks again.

    Hi
You can get a bios update from this link.
    http://www.supportforyourpc.com/
Type in MS-6340 in the search text, search by description, download bios.  I doubt that you can update the bios without getting the system to go through the post process where it detects everything in the computer.  Disconnect all of the drives and see if it will post.  It sound like a memory or cpu problem.
Did you try a stick of known good ram from another system?

  • Insyde BIOS for CQ56-219wm

I have a CQ56-219wm. It runs Insyde BIOS version F.14.
I went to the download page, but all that is available there is a UEFI version, sp51327, or an older one, sp50291. But both say they are UEFI.
I installed sp51327, but it did nothing to the actual BIOS. It seems to be a support platform for BIOS extensibility.
Where can I get the Insyde BIOS for this unit? I'm having hardware problems and the flash is my last hope.
    Thanks.

    Hi @paul1149
I grasp you are having some hardware problems and have updated the bios but there was no change.  The sp51327 is the latest recommended bios update for your notebook.
I suggest you try restoring the bios.

BE careful in your statement Stick .
Quite a few with K8N Neo Platinum (MS-7030) has gotten their board ruined (no-post) over the last weeks
cause by LiveUpdate giving out a wrong MS-7030 bios .
There is three 7030 which use different bioses and is identified on the bios extension name .
MS-7030 versions 1.0 to 2.22 is for the 1'st generation (Neo Platinum and FSR)
The other two have extension 7030.5xx and 7030.7xx and is for Neo-V and Neo V 2.0 .
Think it's a really bad call from MSI to use the same MS number for seperate boards that completely
rely on "their own" bios ,and at the same time autoprovide their bios files through the liveupdate server .
do all of those BIOSes have the same BIOS string ID?

#2- I’m not a unix/linux person so I don’t have the knowledge to fix the “hdx” errors above, so after reboot it goes to “rommon”
    Booting system, please wait...

#3- If the TFTP is rerun the entire cycle starts again.

The IPS 4255 sensor appliance has only a single 512 MB internal CompactFlash module for storage by-default, so this part of the output you posted is interesting:
hda: TOQHIBA THLCD512MBA, CFA DISK drive
hdb: QalDisi QDAF@-510, ATA DISK drive
    ide0 at 0x1f0-0x1f7,0x3f6 on irq 14
    hda: attached ide-disk driver.
    hda: task_no_data_intr: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
    hda: task_no_data_intr: error=0x04 { DriveStatusError }
    hda: 484848 sectors (248 MB) w/2KiB Cache, CHS=481/16/63
    hdb: attached ide-disk driver.
    hdb: task_no_data_intr: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
    hdb: task_no_data_intr: error=0x04 { DriveStatusError }
    hdb: 484848 sectors (248 MB) w/1KiB Cache, CHS=481/16/63
As it appears that two (2) 256 MB ("248 MB") storage devices are being detected (despite the model of the first even containing "512MB" in its name).
I'd recommend double-checking that there is nothing installed in the "External compact flash device" slot located on the back of the appliance. See here for reference: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/ips/7.0/installation/guide/hw_installing_4240_4255.html#wp2726
If there is a CompactFlash module installed there, eject and remove it, then power-cycle the appliance and attempt the re-image ("recovery") process once more. If the boot output still contains the same errors for hda and hdb, then it is probably a failing/failed CompactFlash module, so an RMA will likely be necessary to resolve.
