PO language modification in ME21N

Hello,
I would like to change the language when creating a purchase order with ME21N transaction.
I am using screen layout "NBF" in which language is set as "Optional Entry" (selection group Administrative data, header).
When creating a purchase order and entering only vendor and administrative data, if I go to Communication tab, language is not modifiable.
Note 89899 (see hereunder) explains that it should work if I do not enter any item...
Note : when creating a PO with ME21 transaction, it is OK, field is modifiable.
Could somebody help me on this point ?

Symptom
The number and the type of message output for each purchasing document is defined for output of purchasing documents via message determination.
When you maintain message master data, a language key can also be defined for each message.
This is then ignored for output and the message is printed in the vendor language (document language).
Other terms
ME90, ME91, ME92, message determination, EKKO-SPRAS, NAST-SPRAS, ME21, ME21N, ME22, ME22N, ME9F, ME9K, ME9L, ME9A, ME9A, RM06ENDR_ALV, RM06ENDR, messages condition, MN04, MN05.
Reason and Prerequisites
The language key in the master record of the vendor is dominant for message output. This language key is transferred as a document language in the document header when you create the purchasing document.
Before you entered the first item, you can changed this language in the document header (ME21) or in the header tabstrip "Communications data" (Enjoy ME21N).
The material descriptions are then transferred from the material master in this language. The long texts in the document header or in the item are also maintained in this language.
These texts cannot be printed if the message is to be printed in another language because they only exist in the document language. The material master is not read for output, and as a result the material descriptions are also only available in the document language.
An output in another language than the document language is therefore not useful.

When I launch the transaction ME21N, if I leave the default PO type and go in communication tab, then language field is not greyed.
But as soon as I am changing an information (for example the PO type), then it is greyed out (and I have a first error message about missing Purch Org). Login language is retrieved.
Then if I put a vendor, vendor language is retrieved, but field is still grey.

Hi Jaif,
For BADIs please go to SE24 put cl_exithandler diplay it and put the break-point execute the transaction for which you want to find out badi you will get the badi name in exit name parameter.

Screen modification in ME21N

Hello people,
I am facing a problem when creating Customer Screen in ME21N.
I am able to create the customer screen and added my fields in the customer screen at item level in transaction ME21N. However, my problem is that i m not able to retrieve the value i put in my custom fields.
I have a date field, when i input a date and press enter, the value disappears from the screen. What i want to do is that when i input the date, i should be able to pass the value to my custom table when the PO is saved.
Any help would be appreciated and awarded.

Following the recent download of Pages version 5.1 I am no longer able to modify the language of the text. Has this option disappeared?!

Languages are at the bottom of the Spell Checker > Automatically by Language > choose a language

Field modification in ME21N

I would like to concatenate material description and material size and to display the result in the field short text after material number in transaction me21n. Which UE should I use?

Maintain Vendor in more than 1 language

After ECC 6.0, need to login under "EN", before was "ZH".
Is it possible to maintain the same vendor code in more than 1 language?
In ME21N, the language at the header uses the default from LFA1.
Had anybody been through this scenarios before?

There are 2 ways of solving this
1) you can still login with "ZH" .
go to Tcode:SU01
Click on Defaults Tab
Then you see "Logon Language" - Click on the dropm down icons - you can see "ZH- Chinese"
2) You can maintain vendors in different langauge
press XK02 TCODE and on the first screen click on "Adress icon"
You will see an icon " Internal Version.
Click the language and maintain it

Source of Pre-Built Frameworks Locales?

Hi All,
Where do I get pre-built locale frameworks files. I have Flex Builder and in the SDK folders is the en_US and ja_JP.
I can switch between English and Japanese and all works fine, the dates are all in the correct language, validation all shows in correct language.
But I need a bunch of other languages so I create the es_ES with bin/copylocale en_US es_ES
All this does is copy the English frameworks to a new folder. What I want is all the controls like the dates and validation to be in Spanish, like they are in Japanese when I use that local.
I'm dealing with my own local language modification like labels etc. I'm looking for the flex built in controls language files.
Any help this is holding up deployment.

First off, many thanks to cheftimo for pointing out that the free flex 4 sdk contains 16 languages.
I needed out of the box default locale strings for all the built in controls like dates and form validation for flex 3.
I did this with sdk 3.4.0 on the Mac, but should work in 3.5.0
Flex 3 ships with en_US and ja_JP I will make a es_ES in this example but this will work for any the 16 locales you need.
1) Download the free flex 4 sdk and unzip
Located inside this zip are the locale properties /frameworks/projects/frameworks/bundles/{locale} in our example es_ES
2) Make a copy of the en_US in Flex 3
cd /Applications/Adobe\ Flex\ Builder\ 3/sdks/3.4.0
bin/copylocale en_US es_ES
This creates a copy of the en_US in /Applications/Adobe Flex Builder 3/sdks/3.4.0/frameworks/locale/ as es_ES
Everything is set up for you except that it as not translated the strings.
3) unzip the framework file
cd /Applications/Adobe Flex Builder 3/sdks/3.4.0/frameworks/locale/es_ES
unzip framework_rb.swc
This extract in the es_ES folder
catalog.xml
library.swf
locale (folder)
4) rename for back up, the original framework file (not needed anymore)
mv framework_rb.swc framework_rb.bu
5) copy in the porperties files from flex 4 sdk to the locale/es_ES folder you just extracted
you can do the next step in the command line or finder (finder is easier)
Open the flex 4 sdk properties folder
open /frameworks/projects/frameworks/bundles/es_ES
copy the 13 property files to the just unzipped folder locale/es_ES
6) re-zip the files
zip framework_rb.swc locale library.swf catalog.xml
This will result in a new framework_rb.swc you can now delete the 2 extracted files and 1 extracted folder: (locale library.swf catalog.xml)
Thats it you now have a flex 3 locale file just repeat the steps for the other ones you need
Note you could just copy the framework.swc from the flex 4 sdk but I'm paranoid and was not sure what might have changed in say the catalog.xml for example.

Resource minimised vs downtime minimised

HI,
I have a number of small systems that need to be upgraded with low amounts of users and not very strong servers. I think resource minimised is the best option in our situation but I can not confirm this with any figures or information from other resources.
I know that doing down time minimised rather than resource minimized is going to impact the performance of the production system but I can not find anything that tells me by how much.
Does anyone have any references or can you point me in the right direction?

If your system resources are not very high, i would advice you to go for resource minimised.   In Downtime minimised due to the parallel activity ( upgrade and user activity) may hamper the upgrade.
Downtime during an upgrade, depends on the:
·        Hardware you are using this is the most important factor
·        Release from which you are upgrading and the release to which you are upgrading
·        Database type and size
·        Applications used
·        Upgrade strategy
·        Productive applications
·        Number of clients
·        Installed languages
·        Modifications
·        Number of support packages included

Login Language vs Vendor Comm. Lang ME21N

Hi,
A user logs in with EN language, and the vendor V1 has DE as communication language.
Material "M1" has descriptions in both languages.
When user places PO in ME21n against V1 and for article M1, description is shown in DE in ME21n.
Is there any user exit or way to have EN description, but keep DE as the language for printout/fax form?

This is caused DE Language maintained in Vendor master.If you change to EN in vendor mater ,PO line item pick material master english language.

For printing DE language in PO smart form ,take ABAPer help to print material description in DE language.(Put some country specific controle in Program to get print material description in DE language).

Smart form modification.(Language requriments)

I have to change the smartform for the language requirements with out changing print program. Here the form ic processed by the Classes and methods. Those r standard.
we have to check the condition i.e pur. org. country and vendor country.
If both are same we have to print the texts in local language.
(see below code for conditions).
For this,
 we have to write a code.
Where we have to write the code in smartform (not in print program)?
Contract Output processing details:
Compare Country of Purchasing Organization with Country of Vendor from the Contract
A. If the Country of Purchasing Organization and Country of Vendor from the CONTRACT are the same, then use local language (ZBBP_FORM_LAYOUT_DET - ZLOCAL)
1. If local language (ZBBP_FORM_LAYOUT_DET - ZLOCAL) is EN then print form layout and print Texts in (ZBBP_FORM_TXT_DET-ZFILE_LOCAL) in English(EN) for the Purchasing organization, Form type and output date between the date range (ZFROM_DATE and ZTO_DATE)
2. Local language (ZBBP_FORM_LAYOUT_DET - ZLOCAL) is not EN and based on Label Language (ZLABEL_LOCAL), Print labels in the required languages and print Texts in (ZBBP_FORM_TXT_DET-ZFILE_LOCAL) in Local language for the Purchasing organization , Form type and output date between the date range (ZFROM_DATE and ZTO_DATE)
B. If the Country of Purchasing Organization and Country of Vendor from the Contract are NOT the same, then use language as non-local language (ZBBP_FORM_LAYOUT_DET - ZNONLOCAL) then print form layout based on Label Language (ZLABEL_NONLOCAL) and print Texts in and print Texts in (ZBBP_FORM_TXT_DET-ZFILE_NONLOCAL) for the Purchasing organization, Form type and output date between the date range (ZFROM_DATE and ZTO_DATE)
Step 2:
Get Texts Names and language where Text Type in ('BILL_TO' ,HEADER, EOP, NOTE,, FOOTER_LT, FOOTER_MID, FOOTER_RT, EODOC, TERM_COND') as per the purchasing Org and Date range, then get Text details of 'Text name' where text id ='ST' as per the language and populated them on the Contract which are stored using transaction code 'SO10'.
Output Processing:
During the Output preview Texts info will be populated as per the latest output of Contract transmitted to the Vendor, the date of last output is fetched from the log table Contract output.
Date format and decimal notation:
Print Date Format (V_T005_BAS-DATFM) and decimal notation (V_T005_BAS-XDEZP) on Contract form, where Country of Purchasing Organization of the Contract is equals to Country ISO code(V_T005_BAS-INTCA)
This is requirement.

You can do this within the Smartform.
You have to define the window in all languages, you wanted to print. Then you can define conditions for the language code. If you set a condition to one of the windows, you have to exclude it from the another.
For example
ZWINDOW_EN - condition language = 'EN'
ZWINDOW_OTHERS - condition language <>'EN'

I am coping zmedruck from medruck in all languages with original languge as DE.
If i do some changes in zmedruck with org. language as DE.
my ques. is whether these changes will be reflected when i open zmedruck in EN.

Hello,
Any object has an original language, this is the language you create text elements etc. in. ALL other languages for that object come in through translation only. The translated languages are delivered by SAP as well.
However if you copy an object to a Z-object and maintain texts etc. in your Z-object in the original language it will NOT be available in the other languages until you translate them.
e.g. You have a text element in DE (Beleg) and translated into EN (Document). If you change the original language to (etwas anderes) the EN text would still show as (Document) unless you translate the text element form DE into EN.
The same applies for a creation of a new element, if you create in in DE that will be the only text available until you translate it into e.g. EN.

To created a screen exit you can use either a BADI or a USER EXIT.
1)USER EXIT: MM06E005
2)BADI : ME_GUI_PO_CUST
1) GO to transaction SMOD
and type MM06E005 and press display.
once inside the user exit, click on components, there you have function Module exits, screen exits and includes.
On the screen exits, you have to decide where you want to add the screen field, whether its on header or item level.
THE go to SE80, type the screen name as the program name. IT will give you all the objects for the particular program.
Choose screens, and then the relevent screen. Go to layout and add the field you want. Save and activate.
You also need to add the field in the Cl_include so that you could pass data and retrive data.
Write the relevant code in Function Modulte Exits.
ITEM LEVEL:
EXIT_SAPMM06e_016
EXIT_SAPMM06e_017
EXIT_SAPMM06e_018
Now you have to add the relevant code in the PAI and PBO module.
2) You inserted tabstrip in me22n with BADI ME_GUI_PO_CUST
Now activate ME_PROCESS_PO_CUST to process the data.

Is it possible to change this and maintain in logon lang

Hello
Actually is not necessary to reset the FM to original language as it is defined to the original language even you have changed the display language.
If you want to define it again you can log in DE language and open the object in edit mode again, choosing Maintain in Logon language, it will define the display language to the original language again..

Question about support of multiple languages by installer (after modification)

We are currently developing the plug-in of Adobe Illustrator CS5.
I have a question on how to support multiple languages by that plug-in.
I want to specify a path according to a language of Ai and then install the swatch file when installing the plug-in(Extension) by Extension Manager.
However, the swatch file cannot be placed in a desired path.
The folder of swatch libraries to which Ai refers difffers from language to language, so I want to place the swatch file only in an appropriate path according to a language of Ai...
 Japanese version of Ai : [Ai installation path]/Presets/ja_JP/スウォッチ
 English version of Ai : [Ai installation path]/Presets/en_US/swatches
*In the case that the plug-in is installed into Japanese version of Ai, the expected result is that the swatch file is placed only in "[Ai installation path]/Presets/ja_JP/スウォッチ.
As a way to place the swatch file according to a language of Ai, I described the following contents in MXI file(project.mxi) and then installed the plug-in.

If someone knows it, please let me know.
