Pocket Quicken on Centro

Are there any problems with Iola software called Pocket Quicken for Centro?  I have had 4 Centros since January (5 months) and this is the only software I have added.

I'm not familiar with Iola. Do you have Pocket Quicken for PalmOS from Landware?

I had the beta version of Pocket Quicken and still using the product. I have contacted LandWare several times regarding a version for BB and they mentioned that it was not on their plans.
When I contacted Intuit, I learned that they have a Quicken for IPhone.
Once I get Quicken on my BB, I will get rid of my IPaq.
Just found out that LandWare is no longer supporting Pocket Quicken:

  • Pocket Quicken for iPhone

    Hi all,
I really really want to get an iPhone, but I'm shocked that there is no application that syncs with Quicken! The iPhone is years old now, and it seems to me that this would be a highly desirable app. In fact, next to the phone and the calendar, Pocket Quicken is the App I use the most on my Treo.
    Anyway, my questions are these...
    1) does anyone know of any iPhone Finance application that will SYNCHRONIZE with my copy of Quicken? I am not interested in Quicken Online, and, being a Canadian with Canadian bank accounts, I'm not sure that I could use it anyway.
    2) does anyone know if there are plans for Landware or Intuit or Apple to release such an app? I've tried emailing them, but the answers I get are vague.
    3) are there any savvy programmers there who know how to author apps for iPhone? If so, how much would it cost to create a custom app.
So frustrated with this. I want an iPhone, but I can't justify the cost until I can do this one simple thing!
    Cheers,
    Joel

    Hi guys,
Take a look at PocketMoney that does sync in a manual way with Quicken using "SyncDocs" a free desktop app. It imports/exports the QIF file so that both Quicken and PM are up to date. They just launched a version with budgets, so the app is pretty complete now. It's the best replacement you'll find for PocketQuicken on the Apps Store. I used PQ for more than 4 years on PalmOS, but Landware seems not to like the iPhoneOS, in any case these people (Catamount) have step up the plate, and made a pretty good replacement.
    http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=283494170&mt=8
It has all the features that PQ had in version 2.5, except for a more flexible reconcile feature, but their forum the petition has been made, feel free to pitch in

  • Syncing info from Centro to Mac OS X snow leopard

I went from a PC to a Mac ("snow leopard") recently and found that the Palm does not support the Mac with its hot-syncing system for my Centro.  How do I get my address info and calendar onto my Mac without typing them all in by hand?  I looked into the two third-party systems that were supposed to do this, but found them to be inefficient for my purposes. Any suggestions out there? Thanks!

I just switched to a MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard also. I read that the Palm Desktop was not comp with SL. I purchased The Missing Sync from Mark/Space and it is working fine. I did loose the ability to use certain programs such as Pocket Quicken but overall, it works well.
    Good Luck

  • New computer - new Quicken software, no syncing happening

I just got a new computer, and installed new Quicken software. First problem is that it seems not to have loaded all the data from the old files. But the real problem is that the Pocket Quicken register is not showing up on the bottom like it did on the old computer. Any ideas?  Thanks in advance!

  • I need a new phone - what's a Palm OS lover to do?

    Hi all,
I am an AT&T customer with a Treo 680 who has been using Treos, Handsprings, and Palm Pilots for more than a decade.  I love my Palm Desktop.  I love my DateBk6, and my ChatterMail, and my Pocket Quicken.  But my Treo is simply broken and behaving unpredictably, and AT&T has discontinued them.
The Centro's keyboard and screen are too small for me.  I don't want to switch to a more expensive (Verizon) or less reliable (Sprint) carrier to get a Treo 755p.  I don't want to swith to Windows Mobile, BlackBerry, or IPhone because I don't own Outlook (why would I spend hundreds of dollars on Microsoft Office when I've got Palm Desktop and OpenOffice?).  I can find an unlocked Treo 680 on the Web, but they cost more than I would pay under my AT&T plan.
Can anyone offer a glimmer of hope to a Palm OS lover who seems to be witnessing the slow demise of his favorite handheld operating system?
    Thanks,
    - Steve

  • Successful upgrade - Sharing the Love

When reading all the problem posts here, I was almost too afraid to upgrade me beloved iMac to Leopard. I had Tiger 10.4.11 purring right along, staying away from 3rd party interface add-on's and trying to keep my setup clean and simple. I can't remember the last time I had a kernel panic or had to force shut down an application. I do mostly photography and manage my music collection, 3200 photos and 45GB of music, and I use Office 2004 and VPN for work. I'm not what most would consider a power user.
My experience so far has been painless. I ordered Leopard 10.5.1. Family Pack, a 500GB Iomega Firewire drive, and Quicken 2007 (I had 2005 which isn't Leopard compatible) from Apple on Friday and they arrived today (Monday). Cudos to the Apple Store... 2 day shipping means 2 day shipping!
The Iomega drive is fast and quiet. Only 2 hours to backup 104GB with Carbon Copy Cloner. Then I slid in the Leopard DVD and ran the installer and left the default Upgrade selections alone. Took 1 hr 10 minutes total to install and reboot. Downloaded the Software Updates and I'm up and running.
I had to download an update for Cisco VPN (4.9.1 build 100) and it runs beautifully with Chicken Of The VNC. Connected remotely to 4 PC's at work simultaneously... no problems.
So far, Quicken 2007, Pocket Quicken 2.5.1, Palm HotSync and the iSync conduit, Photoshop Elements 3.0, The Printshop 2, Word and Excel 2004, iWork '08, iLife '08, Chessmaster 9000, Doom 3, and Hoyle's Card Games all run great under Leopard, though I haven't pushed them to their limits. My Epson CX5000 prints and scans with the updated Scan.app 2.95A.
So, like I said, so far it's been easy and painless. Anyone reading these boards needs to remember that most people post problems, not success stories. Just wanted to share

I agree with you whole heartedly. I've used Apple and Macs for as long as they have been around. If I wasn't a long time loyal Apple/Mac user and I read some of the problems that I have see on this forum, I'd be scared about buying a Mac. However, you'd have to pry it out of my cold dead hands.

  • Applications that I need on my Pre Plus

I was able to move from a Treo 680 to a Pre Plus because I knew that I could use Classic to emulate the PalmOS for applications that I really needed. I like many of the new Pre applications and certainly true multi-tasking is great but here is what I need and am missing in my Pre (in random order):
    (1) Windows Office program - A full Documents-to-go was promised more than a year ago. Now, Quick Office is promised for Web OS 2 but Web OS 2 is eliminating Classic. That's a big problem because I still need the rest of this list which is only available through Classic and Palm OS.
    (2) Genealogy program - I currently have "My Roots" that works with my PC program working through Classic. There is nothing yet in WebOS
    (3) Worldmate - Bits and pieces of its functions are available through WebOS but nothing compares to the real Worldmate which is available in multiple smartphone formats, including Palm OS.
    (4) Pocket Quicken or an equivalent - Here's a real problem. Intuit no longer licenses it but existing users can continue to use it. I use it on a daily basis through Classic. It synchronizes transactions with my PC version of Quicken. I'd settle for an alternative but there is none to my knowledge.
    (5) Backup that I control - I have used RscBackup for many years. I like selecting my backup preferences and being able to restore partially or fully. Also, I want them on my PC (and its backups) and not on yours.
    (6) One Synchronizing program - I currently synchronize with three applications: Chapura Synch Manager (dates, contacts, memos, todos), HotSync (for applications maintained in Classic), and Wifi Media Synch. And, still I have to use the USB connection to move files.
    (7) File Manager program - I want to be able to, at least, move a photo between folders but even that means turning off my Pre and attaching the USB cable and then disconnecting and restarting. Come on, we need an easier way!!
    (8) Better Music program - I really miss pTunes. It handled music, playlists, and radio with plenty of controls and adjustments.
    (9) Better eReader program - I have, to date, used six major reading programs between my Treo (eReader, MobiReader, Plucker) and Pre (Kobo, pReader, & Popelli.) The Pre ones are limited and cumbersome. Also, none can handle the DRM protected files, not even the basic ones from the public library.
    (10) Audio book reader - I am using the Music player on the Pre but I cannot stop and resume without losing my place in an hour long section.
    (11) Holidays on calendar - One thing I no longer am missing is holidays on my calendar. After years of using an application on my Treo that added them to my calendar, which I could then edit, I am now following a suggestion on the Palm Forum to use Google calendar. I cannot edit these but it is better than nothing and since Classic cannot send items from Holidates to Pre calendar, I will live with this patch.
I love my Pre and carry it everywhere. I have used it worldwide. I use it a lot! It could be so much better and less annoying if some of the above were available.
Oh, and about the battery life...

    1. Quickoffice has promised a pay for app that can edit.
    5. Have you heard of homebrew and Precentral.net?  There's a homebrew app called Save/Restore that will allow you to save application data onto the USB drive where you can offload it to your computer.
    7. Continuing with homebrew, there's an app called Internalz that will allow you to browse all of the files on your phone, not just your USB drive.
    8. I would recommend using Music (remix) as a music player and TuneIn by RadioTime for radio stations
    10. Music (remix) allows you to create bookmarks to you can resume where you last left off.

  • PDA's and Mac

I've been using a Palm TX with my Mac (used a Palm since 1997 except for an iPaq about 4 years ago when I was PC) and it has been a really poor unit (I never had trouble with Palms previously). Its been replaced 6 times - mainly because the screen develops this weird halo effect after about 3 months of usage and it becomes very inaccurate and hard to write on. I found out from their technical support that they are now aware of this as an engineering issue with the screen and they're working on a fix. But I'm really tempted to leave Palm behind and get an iPaq with Missing Sync for PocketPC. However it doesn't appear that this supports much in the way of third party conduits. I use Pocket Quicken extensively and it doesn't look like this would work.
Has anyone else had any experience with using a PocketPC with their Mac and how have they found it?

But then again, when is enough enough? After 10?< Too true!</div>
Call up corporate headquarters/executive support (which you seemed to have done), and kindly but firmly request a FREE of CHARGE Tungsten E2< Interesting you mention this. Around replacement 3 or so - back in the early spring, I said this device is defective and I want it replaced for a good unit - a Treo. They came back to me and said they would only replace like for like. They had engineering ship a device that they requested checked. I was very firm and requested a different device altogether as I was convinced this was a problematic unit. But no way and they sure didn't offer to reimburse me on my shipping. </div>
I forgot to mention - to add insult to injury - I went to Europe in April and before I went I used the external charger to charge my TX. When I got to Europe, I put the charger on a converter for Europe and no charging. I was getting panicky as all my itinerary was on the TX and the battery was getting low. They told me to take it to a store in Edinburgh for testing. Sure enough the charger was defective. They fortunately sold international chargers which cost me $52. I asked them to reimburse me for this and they said no way - they would have sent me a charger but they would not reimburse me for the store purchased charger. I said so where in Europe would you have sent this. I was traveling all over the place and there was no destination they could have got it to that I could have been assured I would have been at.
Oddly enough, before I got the TX I had an E2. I gave this to a friend as a Christmas present. Big mistake. It was non problematic and would have made a great backup unit as I went through all this hassle with the TX. But as I mentioned, I never had problems with Palms in the past so I never imagined this might happen. One replacement maybe - not even - but 6!
You're right about the PocketPC though.
I'm going to have to carefully think about this. I should probably call Palm corporate back to indicate how displeased I am. But they know this. My file on this thing is like a book and I've told them that I'm very unhappy. So they just keep replacing the unit. At one point, I was seriously thinking of getting a Blackberry but I have no real need for this type of functionality and I would have still had the limited sync problem. So hear I sit with my TX.

  • Conduit Manager locked

I attempted to Hot Sync my TX with my iMac, and I keep getting "Conduit Manager Locked" instead of the usual items syncing.
I haven't got a clue as to what its trying to tell me.
The only thing I gave it a specific file for was Pocket Quicken, and it had no trouble at all with doing that.
Backup is Backup, Install is Install Files, iSync Conduit is See Conduit Settings (Enable iSync for this Palm Device is checked); and everything else is Synchronize.
Any idea what the problem is??
    Thanks.

Hello rmiko and welcome to the Palm forums.
In Mac OS X, go to the Utilities folder, and run the utility called "Disk Utility."  When you select your hard drive on the left of the window, a button near the bottom middle of the screen will become active called "Prepair Disk Permissions".  (I'm using Mac OS X 10.5.x so the verbage might be different in older versions of Mac OS X.)
Click the Repair button and Mac OS X will go through and reset all of the permissions on folders and files back to their defautl settings.  When the job is done, reboot the Mac and try to HotSync again.

I have been using this and it works great.  On their site you can choose the phone and the particular program you need to sync with and choose which you way you want to sync.
    Hope this helps
Sorry hat, the Centro has absolutely nothing in common with a webOS device!  It runs PalmOS.  Nice of you to reply with your suggestion though!

Something I noticed in your post - you installed Palm 6.2.2 AND the 2007 conduit.  Palm Desktop 6.2.2. has the 2007 conduits built into it already, and the patch is not needed.  Whether this is the cause of your problems, I'm not sure, but I've fielded several posts of the same issue where the user did the same thing you did!
I'd suggest doing a clean uninstall, and reinstall of Palm Desktop 6.2.2 only.
I admit, I do not use Outlook, nor Win7, so I'm giving you my best guess at a way to solve your problem.  Hopefully, this may lead to a solution!

  • Video Player for Palm Centro

This is getting painful. I have read on other forums about the free TCMP.... does not work. Comes with cab files that I cannot install. Same with pocket tunes.... cannot see my mp4 files on sd card. Any 'simple' video players out there for free?
If I have to pay, I have found these 2... thoughts on them?

Thanks in advance.... I'm just a little frustrated thats all.

If you're opening CAB files, you've downloaded the wrong version!
CAB files are for Windows Mobile devices...
