Podcast app doesn't work with iTunes this made me want back to 5.1.1

Apple may want to make podcast more popout. they made a NEW app "podcasts"
but I start to hate apple to do this just like the iOS 6 maps.
the new Podcasts app is desinged to be work alone (without iTunes)
it can download subscribe find,  ok that's cool but it just won't work with iTunes. maybe apple have data shows more people are iDevice centered.
But I'm an iTunes centered user. I use iTunes to search subscribe download and DELETE Podcast that I've watched. and I LOVE THIS WAY! I DON"T WANT MY PHONE TO Manage or store podcasts!
back to iOS 5. every moming, I sync my iPhone with my iTunes, 1 new unplayed podcasts from every show was synced to my iPhone. and I play them on the way to my company.
at night I watch some other shows on my mac. them sync with iPhone. all played podcasts will not remain on iPhone, and marked as played in iTunes and ready to be deleted. iTunes only keep 4 episodes.   all things is automatic. but iOS 6 Changes everything.  It won't works with iTunes, and music can't play podcasts anymore. I have to Manually subscribe on iPhone again! and Manualy delete on iPhone and Manualy delete on iTunes.
THIS IS TOTOALLY Unacceptable... for me. My phone or iPad have very limited spaces, and 3G data plan.
Use iTunes means, no 3G needed, download only once!
Use Podcast app and sync over iCould means 3G data and download as the same number as yours devices. for me I have to download a  same show for 3 times.
I Hope there is some way that can make the old music app back.

I agree, i tried to do what i always do at my office today on my ipod touch, connect to the wifi at the end of the day to download new podcast episodes for my subway ride home, and instead, iTunes with the ios6 update installed yesterday won't let me do that, it tells me i need the new Podcasts app, fine, i go install it, and then when i go back to music, it tells me my podcasts are moved, i go to the new app, so over i go.  The new app is slow, crashes twice trying to get into it, i can't see any way to make a playlist, i managed to download some new episodes, but can't see how to make a playlist still.  I found out how to delete it (and doing so brought back Podcasts and my podcast playlist to the music app, huzzah!!)
The Podcasts app is not the quality i want from Apple.  I like my ipod, i really do, but it seems Apple is convinced that whenever they make a change they think will make things better, they delete old ways of doing things that work for us, the real people in the world using their devices.  I like the notion of a stand alone app for finding and downloading podcasts, but why does that necessitate removing them from the music app to play since primarily i download all my new podcasts at night, listen to some on my computer while working at home, put them in an itunes playlist in the order i want to listen to them, then sync each morning with my PC to have whatever i haven't listened to in a playlist so it can play all day at work while i'm there.
Hopefully Apple can learn from this and the ongoing Maps debacle to maybe not be so quick to tell their users how we have to use the devices, and instead spend some time listening to how we use the devices to make our experience better rather than enforcing how they want it used on us.

  • My iPod doesn't work with iTunes 10. Help please!

    Greetings to all!
Help please! I updated to iTunes10, and now my ipod nano 4th generation doesn't work with it. Actually the "Devices" menu doesn't show up, although the operating system recognizes it. What should i do? I refuse to buy another one. Should i install an older version of itunes? If i do so, may i loose my musics and stuff that i have in library?
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Laters,

You should always have backup of your iTunes folder.
Downgrading to iTunes 9 will not cause you to lose your music etc.
Have you checked via Software Update in the System Preferences for any updates.
Have you tried the 5 R's for the iPod?

  • HT4914 Apple TV 3 with OS 6 doesn't work with iTunes Match.

My Apple TV only shows me my purchases from iTunes Store
All my computers work with iTunes Match perfect
    Have you any ideas?

    My ongoing monologue.
So I have now discovered that when syncing my ATV with my iMac, it actually IS continuing to sync although ATV disappears from the device list in iTunes.
I had been thinking that the sync process was failing because the ATV would disappear, as would the sync progress bar at the top of iTunes. So I would quit iTunes again, and the syncing would start, but then it would blip out and disappear again, always after about a minute and 45 seconds.
I tried an experiment today, syncing only my music (about 2,000) songs, and it synced up perfectly. ATV seems to only disappear from iTunes when syncing big files like movies and TV shows (HD).

  • The Podcast app doesn't group non-itunes files correctly on devices (but does in itunes.) How can I change this?

I tried using the Podcast App but found it didn't group non-itunes downloads correctly on the iPhone or iPad whereas with just the Music and Video apps previously, it did.  I have been into the file settings and change every attribute but it still clumps them all into one groups. In itunes on the PC they do group correctly. Anyone else had this problem? Can it be corrected?
I was happy to delete Podcast app and go back to just Music & video apps but now I now fine that if I want, for example, to download TedTalk podcast I can't.

I am dealing with the exact same issue.. any advice would be greatly appreciated!

  • Podcast App doesn't work at all

When I open the podcast App on my iphone, it just closes right back up again.  Did a sync thru itunes and it shows that podcasts are syncing. Any fixes for this? It would be nice to be able to play podcasts on my iphone. Really.

Ok, I'm going through this too. The symptom is that I backed up and synced, and then did an update to IOS 7 for my iPhone 4s. Everything worked ok except the podcast app which comes up and dies after about 10 seconds.
I called Apple tonight and spent some time talking to various people. The first thing they had me do is to delete the app (by holding the app till I got the little X and deleting it) and then doing a hard reset (power and home button held till it resets). Then when it came up they had me go to the app store on the phone and download the podcast app again. I did that, but got the same symptom.
So the next step was go to my iTunes app on my computer (Macbook Air 2013) and set it so that when you connect a phone it doesn't automatically sync. Then they had me plug it in and wait till iTunes saw it. Then go to the settings and set it to NOT sync podcasts. I did that and then synced. After syncing, the podcast would stay up but there were some more problems.
First, doing that resulting in some my subscriptions being turned off, though all the actual podcast placeholders were still there. I went through setting up the subscriptions again and it started freezing when I turned a subscription on and then making a setting change (e.g. turning on the subscription and then setting it to keep the last 2 items). I found that if I went to change all the settings but didn't turn the OFF ones ON and then went back afterward and turned all the OFF subscriptions ON, it didn't freeze.
So far so good it seems to be working. Wow, good troubleshooting from Apple tech support but not very good performance from the programming team. They say they are working on the crashing poscast app issue.

  • 3GS iPhone's iPod app doesn't work with OS4

After downloading OS4, the iPod app for my 3GS iPhone stopped working. The app will open, but when I hit a song to play, it goes to the player page, tries to play the song, then reverts back to the song list page. I've tried resyncing it with iTunes, but that didn't work. I'd like to avoid having to restore the phone and lose all of my saved information.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

to fix the issue with the ipod app crashing, re-sync your iphone to your itunes and after that it should work. I've had this issue as well and the re-sync did help fix it.

  • HT4061 Drag and drop function in Windows 8 doesn't work with iTunes.

How to import music files from Windows 8 to iTunes 11.0.3 x64? Drag and drop function doesn't work. Thank you!

    > Straight drag and drop to PS produced a warning message so, when I then tried to drag on to the PS task bar button, I got the Ø cursor but on moving into the PS window and releasing the mouse button there, the file opened.
That's the strangest behavior that I would imagine. Are you using the default vista aero theme or you have turned down or using custom theme and visual effects?
    > it needs to be pointed out that this is a really bad habit that will smack you in the face one day...
I don't understand what you mean. If you are concerned about viruses, in my understanding copying and opening a file from the internet which is what "Save image as" does, is less safe than coping and pasting pixels. Copying and pasting pixels is the same as coping and pasting text from your web browser, it can't execute hidden code. If that was possible everybody will get viruses at the moment text or pixels are displayed on your browser.
By the way when you view a page from the internet, image files are already downloaded in the temp folder of your computer but only the browser uses them unless you open them from there and use in another program. So if you have a virus protection the images are already scanned.

  • Sync Outlook Calendar with iPod doesn't work with iTunes 7?

Ever since I've upgraded to iTunes 7, when I try to sync my Outlook Calendar with my iPod - either Outlook crashes or it says it's doing it, but the calendar on my iPod is now blank even when I have things scheduled on my calendar.
Is there any fix or work around for this? Is anyone aware of this problem?

This is meant with a bit of humor in the first part of my response to illustrate why polls asking for people not having a problem can be inaccurate here. Then I will get into some suggestions that are more techical in nature.
If you walk to the waiting room at your local hospital's emergency room, and ask is there anybody here who is waiting to see the Doctors who is not sick or injured, please speak up. If everything was working, would you be here to post?
If you turn off Outlook Syncing, and turn it back on, do you get the Windows security screen? It might pop up under the iTunes 7 window. There is a screenshot of the window I am referring to here:

  • Palm doesn't work with iTunes

Helping out a friend. She has a PalmTungsten E that she uses to listen to eBooks from Audible. There are several books stored in iTunes at the moment.
When she first used her Palm with iTunes, she would connect the Palm to her iBook's USB port, and it would appear in the iTunes Source list. Then just drag the book files to the Palm's iTunes icon.
Her Palm no longer appears in iTunes when it is connected to the iBook. However, it does appear in iTunes on my PowerBook.
We tried using Missing Sync to move books to the Palm, using the iTunes Conduit, but that hasn't worked, either. I did manage to move the book files onto the Palm using the Backup Conduit, but the Audible player doesn't recognize them.
Along with these symptoms, an error message now often appears when Quitting iTunes. It appears even though iTunes is merely Launched and then Quit, with no additional iTunes activity. It says:
    Application Launch Failure
The Application "Transport Monitor" could not be launched because of a shared library error:
    "H<transportmonitor><transportmonitor><Hotsynclib.PPC><_ct_libCTransportRelMacFP18OpaqueTransportRefUc>"
Re-installing iTunes has not apparently changed any of the symptoms. I have also previously tried re-installing iSync and the Palm Desktop software; latest versions of everything. It seems to me that the only time I've seen the Palm appear in iTunes was soon after an initial re-install of the Palm Desktop. But it didn't stick, and didn't happen again, even after yet another re-install of Desktop.
Seems like the first order of business is to deal with that error message ... though I'll be happy for any suggestions I can get. I'm not sure which way to turn just now ...
Thanks in advance for any wisdom anyone may be able to share ... !

well, after a lot of pain and suffering, i finally solved one part of your friend's problem......after upgrading to an Intel-based Mac Mini, i found that my PDA no longer showed up in the sources for iTunes. what finally worked (just by chance!!), was to have iTunes open, and launch "Drive Mode" on the PDA....then, both the main memory and the internal card on my PDA (Tungsten T5) showed up in the sources, and i was able to drag my Audible files to the PDA - i then had to reorganize a bit, to get the files into the Audible folder, because they defaulted to the Music folder, and wouldn't show up in Audible until they were in the correct location.
as to the Transport Monitor error - i had that quite a bit when i first migrated to t he intel-based mac, and i finally got it to disappear, but i can't remember the steps required. i suspect that in the end i had to do a hard reset and start from scratch.

  • Windows 2003 calendar sync doesn't work with iTunes 7.6

I updated to the new iTunes 7.6 yesterday and found out that calendar sync didn't work. I tried everything that is suggested by the Apple.com support web site. None worked. I didn't have any problem with my calendar with iTunes 7.5. I hope Apple could resolve this issue ASAP as I need my work calendar be synced on my iPhone.

Hi, I just bought my iPhone a couple of days ago and am having the same problems.
I have a Macbook at home, but need to be able to sync with my work computer for contacts and calendar. At work I'm running on Windows XP Pro SP 2 and MS Outlook 2003 SP 3. I've made sure to update all MS software. I'm running on iPhone 1.1.3 and iTunes 7.6.
My contacts sync fine, but, so far, no luck with my calendar. I've gone through the trouble of completely deleting everything off my calendar and am trying "test" appointments to no avail. What's really frustrating is that I've logged out of my ID on this computer and logged in using a test ID. I can successfully sync a test appointment following those steps.
Tech support tells me that since I'm successful under those conditions, it must be a corrupt entry on my main calendar. But, as I've mentioned, I deleted everything I can find off my main calendar and am still not able to get it to sync successfully.
    This is quite frustrating.

  • Dictionary App doesn't work with Snow Leopard

Hey,  just upgraded my Macbook from leopard to Snow leopard and now the apple dictionary app is too out dated. Where can I find an update for this app so that it'll work with snow leopard?

Not sure why the proper Dictionary didn't install with the upgrade. One option is to install it now from the disc using Pacifist.

  • Last.fm app doesn't work with iPhone 2.1

last.fm doesn't work under 2.1. The app starts but there's no sound or album artwork... and after a few seconds the app just crashes...
Does anyone have the same problem?

The last.fm folks are aware of the issue. The issue will be resolved when version 2.0 of the last.fm software is released for the iPhone. According to last.fm, they were supposed to submit the update to Apple earlier this week for approval, so the ball is in Apple's court. Check out the following thread for more info:

  • Remote App doesn't work with iPod 2nd Gen or iPhone 3G

I have been using till recently the "Remote" app to control a Apple Express base station from an iPod 2nd Generation (and it also would work from iPhone 3G. It worked great.
Today, I noticed that it is not working. I am getting a message that says the the update of the App is no longer compatible with the iPod or the iPhone that I was using.  Both of them are running Version 4.2.1
Does anybody know anyway to get the iPod 2nd generation or the iPhone 3G to be compatible with the "Remote" app?  Is there anywork around.
My teenager loved to be able to control the tunes in his room with one of these devices.
I appreciate any advice or help you can offer.

    Maybe:
Remote app for iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch can't connect to iTunes or Apple TV
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1947
If you have a copy of the Remote app in your iTunes library that is compatible with your iPod delete the app from your iPod/iPhone and sync the app to yur device.
If not, delete the version in you iTunes library and transfer/copy the app to your iTunes library by
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
There is no way to the later version on your devices.
