Podcast 'artists' appearing in music Artists

Hi,
Is there an option that prevents the name of podcasts artists from appearing in my music->artists list? I listen a lot of TWiT.tv podcasts but the names of the panel change regularly and they appear in the artist tag. So now my artists list contains a bunch of podcast artists I'd rather not see appearing between my 'real' music artists like Eric Clapton, coldeplay, ...
How can I address this issue?
Thanks a lot, Bob

In my case, everything looks right in iTunes. Each Cast in their rightful place, categorized neatly by Podcasts, etc. However, on my iPod, the podcast comes across in the Album field, with all the casts as songs.
The weird thing is that I didn't have this problem until a couple months ago. The only thing I can think of that's changed is that i check the preference 'Copy music to iTunes music file when adding to library' in order to fix another little problem.

  • Music Video artists appearing under Music on iPod

I have music videos on my iPod that display just fine, and they sort just fine, but the artists that are attributed with the videos are appearing under the Music > Artists section. This is either causing duplicate entries that lead to the same list of albums, or an entry without any albums.
    What's going on?

It's normal. Because that video file is also an audio file, it shows up under songs, artists, etc., just as any music file would. (And the entries aren't "duplicates," if I'm understanding you correctly. The file is only on your iPod once, it's just accessible from several different menus.) If you want to express to Apple your displeasure with this feature in iTunes, Google Apple feedback iTunes and send them feedback through the form.

  • Podcast vids appearing in music list

after transfering some podcast videos to my ipod i noticed that the videos appear in my artists list. under the 'video kind' in options they are set to 'movie'. so why are they appearing there? i've had to set 'artist' and 'album' to null values to get them out of there, but now all the podcast videos are mixed together in itunes. is there an easier way get them out of there that i may be missing?

If your iPod's software is uptdate and at 1.1.1, video podcasts should not be showing up in artists (Regular podcasts' artists still may).
Make sure everything is up to date...
    iTunes
    iPod Updater
    Updating iPod's Software
Now on your iPod go to settings-->about. What is the software version?
Do the podcasts stop showing up under Music-->artists (the video podcasts).

  • Not all artists appear in the artist list

Does anyone know why, in itunes all my artist names appear, but then when i sync to the ipod they dont appear in the artist list? Their albums appear in the album list, just not their names in the artist list - does anyone know how to fix this problem?? thanks

Does anyone know why, in itunes all my artist names appear, but then when i sync to the ipod they dont appear in the artist list?
It could be that you have inadvertently imported these CDs into iTunes as part of a compilation. If so, the artists won't show in the artists menu on the iPod.
To check, highlight the tracks on one of the offending artists CDs in iTunes, right click and select "get info". This brings up a multiple song info window, and from there you can check if you have 'yes' in the box marked "part of a compilation".
If you have, select 'no' instead and click 'ok'. Do this with any CD that has this issue. This will alter the info in iTunes, and you should then connect your iPod and synchronize the changes.
The problem arises because the information contained on the Gracenote CD Data Base (where iTunes gets all it's album/artist/track info from), is sometimes incorrect. It can show CDs as compilations when in fact they are not.

  • How can i get  all albums to appear in the artist list

Not all of my albums for a particular artist appear in the artist list. How can I correct this?

    Hi spike1954,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
You may want to first check the Song Info associated with the albums that are not displaying correctly. See this article for the details:
Playing and managing content in iTunes

    Editing and arranging content
    Editing Info
Each audio or video file in iTunes has several settings and tags that can be easily modified. These options can be accessed by selecting any file in the iTunes browser windows and selecting "Get Info" from the File menu. You can add song lyrics, artwork and set special playback options. The "Info" tab lets you edit information about the file including artist and album info.
Additionally, while this article refers to a previous version of iTunes, the information within can still be helpful:

    Hi Spam_Valley,
I understand that you are having issues with your music displaying correctly. This may be an issues with the metadata stored within that song, and iTunes interpretation of that info.
We may need to repair this. See the following resources for information:

  • Podcast Authors appear in "Artists" on my Ipod - How can I get rid of that?

I use iTunes to subscribe to podcasts. After synchronizing, the podcasts appear on my Ipod in my "Podcasts"-folder as they should. But the Authors also appear in the "Artists"-folder, which I find very confusing.
How can I get rid of that?

      Windows XP

Select the Podcast you want to change in iTunes
Hit COMMAND -I for the Get Info window
    Select the INFO tab
Make your changes there and dont forget to save before you exit the window.

  • How do I get songs from certain artists to appear under the "Music → Artist

How do I get songs from certain artists to appear under the “Music → Artists” menu of my iPod if some of the artists songs have album information and some don’t?
For example, I might have a full album from an artist, and then a single track from the same artist, but without an album tag. When I go to “Music → Artist”, the single track without album information will be gone. The only way I can find the single track is if I go to “Music → Songs” and find it in there.
I have thousands of MP3s, and finding songs by artist is my preference. Is there any way I can get all tracks to appear under the Artists menu without having to add album information to every single track?

From what I understand (thanks to forum member PT for this), once you add a second album name for that artist even for a single song, ALL the rest of the songs should now show up under that artist, even those without album names.
Providing the spelling for the artists is exactly the same of course.

  • Songs dont appear under the artist name on the ipod....

When i put a song on itunes, it appears under the artist and the song name but when i look for it on my iPod under the artist name, it doesnt show up. Where is the song?

I went to that link but it doesnt seem to help. In itunes I have made sure that the song title, album and artist name are already in there with the correct spelling etc. In itunes all the info is there. When I look for the artist in my ipod it doesn't show up. I can find the album and the individual songs but the artist is not there.
Also...Songs in my itunes have all been organized and did the "get info" thing but some of the same artist appear several times on my ipod. I made sure everything is spelled correctly and the same for the same artist name, I have done resets and restore on the ipod, I deleted all the music out of itunes and then reinstalled it but I am still having the problem with certain artists...not all of them just randomly some. And it is continuing to happen with some new mp3s I am adding. What is going on with that???
Any help would be greatly appreciated...I have only had my ipod 3 weeks!!! If there is something wrong with it I want to return it and get a new one or is it user error?
Thanks to anyone that can help.

  • Quick name search, music artist search, etc. (This is a suggested solution)

Spotlight wasn't finding documents or music, even if they were sitting on my desktop. I was using command-F to bring up the find window. It was also an annoyance to have to switch "kind" to whatever I was really searching for every time.
I found an Apple fix which suggested re-indexing my computer. I was lead to believe it was unnecessary to have to re-index, as Spotlight is supposed to update automatically, so I wasn't looking for that solution and wasted a lot of time before finding it. I saw it in a post on this site as well. In case you haven't seen that fix:
Go to System Prefs->Spotlight->Privacy, and enter all of your internal and external drives in the box. Then remove them, and it re-indexes everything. (It only takes about 14 hours...) OK, it actually took 2 hours, but seemed like 14.
The music and documents I was looking for now appeared under a general "Search for" after clicking command-F. But so did all kinds of other unrelated stuff, like eBooks, documents, emails, and even images when I entered "Name", "Pink Floyd. It was annoying to have to switch lots of fields to do a simple name search. Here's a suggested time saver which can be used for a name search or any other search.
This is an example for a music artist search.
    1) To find songs by a certain artist anywhere on your computer, first open a find window (command-f). Then select "Others" in the top menu and click on all your drives.
    2) For "Kind" select "Music". The and add "Authors" "Contains" on the next line. The ID3 tag for the songs you are looking for have to be filled in for "artist" for this search to work.
"Authors" is found in a menu that comes up if you select "Other" at the bottom of the pop-up menu under the first filter button. All kinds of other search terms are there as well which I never knew existed.
    3) Then fill in some type of symbol which brings up few if any results in the Authors field and save the search. I used pi ("π", option-p).
Whenever you want to do an artist search, select your saved search, erase the symbol, and enter your actual search. Not really that big of a deal, but it is less annoying than switching everything every time you want to do a search.
You can do the same thing for any type of search. For example for a document search, enter "Filename" "Contains" and "Kind" "Document", then your symbol, and save it. That way you don't get 7000 results if you try to search for a word document you named "To do."
If you find this useless, feel free to post replies ridiculing me. But please make them entertaining

    Another option:
Dowmload Quicksilver or LaunchBar or Butler
Take 5 minutes to configure it - just make it search your home folder, for instance.
invoke it with your keyboard shortcut
    search
QS is free, the others are shareware.
    Regards

  • Artists appearing under incorrect letter

I have an iPod Touch 3rd generation that's currently on iOS 5.1.1
Well I just added a new compilation album and as I was browsing for Artists under the Artists tab I noticed that the last named artist on the list appear as the first artist under the next letter.  For example Utah Saints should be the last artist to appear under 'U' but they now appear as the first artist under 'V', and
the last artist to appear under 'V' is Vivienne Lu but that artist appears as the first artist under 'W'. I've only just discovered this so I have no idea how long my iPod has been doing this.
I've found a few discussions dating from 2011 and 2012 with people having the same problem but the threads have been left unresolved.
    Is there a solution now?
    Thanks in advance

It's normal. Because that video file is also an audio file, it shows up under songs, artists, etc., just as any music file would. • Iphone 5 music - artists not showing up after i delete them and then add more music by them

So, on the "Artists" tab, on the iPhone 5, I deleted a few artists by swiping on the right and pressing delete.
Later, I added some music by those artists, sometimes the same music that I had deleted.
These new albums show up on the "Albums" tab, but not the "Artists" tab.  It has nothing to do with ID3 or any of that--the tags are correct, they just don't appear in the "Artists" tab because I had previously deleted the artists there.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPhone?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPhone shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off"

  • How do I get all the songs from an album to show in the album view?  Currently, if an album lists the artist plus a guest artist, those are shown separately and appear to be two different albums on my iPod.  How do I get all the songs on that album togeth

How do I get all the songs from an album to show in the album view?  Currently, if an album lists the artist plus a guest artist, those are shown separately and appear to be two different albums on my iPod.  How do I get all the songs on that album together on my iPod?  If the album is a collaboration wtih many artists, each sond may appear as a separate album.

I used to have this problem.
First, you need to go back on iTunes
you need to go to each of the songs that are having this problem
Click the album so all the songs drop down
Right click the songs that have this problem
    Click ' Get info '
Click the tab that says " info '
The box that says ' album artist ' should probably be empty (correct me if I'm wrong)
Click it and type the artist of the entire album, NOT the songs guest artist
    as such,
    ARTIST
    JAY-Z Feat. Justin Timberlake
    ALBUM ARTIST
    JAY-Z
These should be separate for each artist
If you write the same album artists for each song by that artist, all the songs should be on 1 album
