Podcast Artwork in iTunes Not Showing Up

Has this happened to anyone else? I have a Mac and when I try and download a few different podcasts the Artwork does not show up. I can deleteand redownload all I want, it does not show up. I've had this with a few Podcasts. When I sync it to my iPhone or iPod, still it doesn't show up.

The artwork which sometimes appears for individual episodes has to be actually embedded in the media file and is not related to the image which appears on the Store page (which is referenced in the feed). Many podcasters don't bother to include these embedded images, or may not realise that they can, in which case no image will appear.
There is nothing to stop you copying the artwork from the Store page and adding it to each episode using the File>Get Into pane, if you really want to take the trouble.

  • IPod Touch 64GB keeps losing artwork/artwork in iTunes not showing up on corresponding albums

after installing an update on my iPod Touch I noticed almost all the album artwork was erased. I'll just list the progression of events in order they've occured:
Install OS update on iPod Touch, almost all artwork is erased.
Re-add several of the albums that were missing artwork, artwork shows up fine.
Install second OS update that comes out.
Artwork is once again missing. Some albums I 'fixed' remained unchanged but all the files that did get the artwork erased were songs that had had it erased the first time.
Re-add a few albums that were effected, but some in the middle of it, iTunes crashes and things are messed up again.
I've tried all the basic fixes that people suggest for this kind of thing. Nothing seems to work. And it seems that whenever a particular album's artwork is lost on the iPod, it's lost in iTunes as well and neeeds to be downloaded again.
It's getting very tiring and I need to find a way to fix this so I'm not constantly worrying about re-adding songs and artwork and all that.

I had the same problem with artwork dissapearing, after I upgraded to ios5.
Never found a solution other then re-uploading the songs & artwork. Very time-consuming.
Sorry to hear that it's still happening - I'm really not looking forward to going through that again.

  • Why does the iTunes not show "Photos"

Why does the new iTunes not show "Photos" after it is synced, and why does iCloud not show Photos also?

Ralph9430 offers a good suggestion.  But you may need to do this before taking his advice:
Check in iPhoto's Preferences (which you can open from the iPhoto menu).  Look in General, and make sure "Connecting Camera Opens" is set to "Image Capture").
If it is set to "iPhoto", you won't be able to get to Image Capture easily.

  • ITunes not showing updated artwork

I've updated the artwork for my podcast, and it displays on the site of the podcast host (Podbean), but iTunes still shows the old artwork. How do I get iTunes to show the newer artwork? My Podbean page is aliennation.podbean.com, and it's been updated there for weeks.

The 'itunes:image' tag in the feed references this image:
    img src="http://aliennation.podbean.com/wp-content/blogs5/68550/uploads/AlienNation PodcastLogo4a.jpg">
which I assume is the correct one?
Have you submitted your podcast to the iTunes Store and received a URL to the Store page for your podcast? I ask because the link on your site doesn't take you there, it simply subscribes you directly to the feed in your own copy of iTunes. The 'itunes:image' does not appear there; it displays an image embedded in the media file.
If you have a Store page for your podcast it would be helpful to have the iTunes URL; if this is not displaying the correct image there is little you can do about it because the feed is correct. It does sometimes take quite a long time for the image to change, but it shouldn't be weeks. When you changed the image did you create a new one with the same name at the same URL? - if so that might be the problems: iTunes advises you to change the URL though I don't know whether Podbean will allow you to do this.
If it's the other case, that you don't have a Store page and are talking about the iTunes dsplay when you subscribe, then please see this page which explains the situation:

  • Podcasts sync'd from iTunes not showing up in Podcast app

Another question from the iOS 6 upgrade ... I know there is a Podcasts app that you need for playing Podcasts in iOS 6 rather than in the Music app.
The problem is, the podcasts I subscribe to in iTunes on my PC are not showing up in the Podcasts app in iOS 6.
iTunes says they are sync'd to this phone, but they do not show up anywhere at all...
Ideas? Similar experiences? Any insight appreciated.
    Thx
    Terry

For what it's worth I just started with a clean slate (restored the phone to base iOS6) and all is magically well again.

  • Podcasts on iPod 30GB, not showing up in iTunes

A long time ago, I downloaded some Podcasts onto my iPod 30GB Video. The Podcasts do not show up in the Podcast directory on the iPod, but rather in the Artists directory. When I go into iTunes (latest version), the podcasts do not show up anywhere. I want to delete them because they take up a lot of memory, but since I cannot find them, how can I delete them?
    Thanks!
    Casey

I have essentially the same problem with my 120GB iPod. Managing from iTunes 9 in XP, some of the podcasts that I add end up in the podcast section of the iPod and some don't. When they don't, the only way I can access them is by searching for their title. They don't show up as "music" "audiobooks" or "podcasts"--they just don't exist until I search for them. In iTunes they do not show up at all. I have no way to delete them and listening to them is a big pain.
This has happened under two different sets of circumstances: (1) adding a downloaded mp3 to my library and manually defining it as a podcast and (2) manually adding a podcast link and dragging over the file once it downloaded. Obviously, I have sync disabled and manually manage everything.
This is a strange problem and I'm not optimistic that a solution exists. If one does, I'd be anxious to hear about it.

  • ITunes not showing artwork

For some reason, when I opened iTunes recently, the following message appears in the artwork carousel: "iTunes is unable to browse album covers on this computer."
The computer is a laptop replacement for my desktop at work and all software etc. has been replicated here. When I first started iTunes on the new laptop, the artwork displayed as normal. Then, one day last week, I got the above message.
I just purchased an iPod Classic and all the artwork seems to have synced with the device, but I still cannot see it in iTunes.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks and Happy New Year!

  • How to post podcast artwork in iTunes with libsyn

    Quick question..
How do I get MY image to show up in the podcast page in iTunes? I'm talking about the page that shows when my podcast is displayed. There is just a default image there right now, and I would like to change it to an image of my choosing. I've gone into the setting tab in libsyn, and added an image to the iTunes submission tab, but the image fails to show. I'm assuming this is a problem with the rss feed, because no image shows in a few other podcast directories.
How do I make an image show up in the iTunes podcast artwork area? How do I do this using libsyn as my host?
    Thanks

The iTunes 12 Get Info dialog lacks right-click context menus (at least for now) but it still accepts most standard keyboard shortcuts and drag & drop actions.
    Delete Artwork
On the artwork tab of Get Into, tap the image in question, use Backspace or Ctrl+X. Delete doesn't work.
Or, tap the image at the top left of Get Info, this time use Backspace or Delete, it is Ctrl+X that doesn't work.
    Add Artwork
Select artwork, press Ctrl+C to copy, tap the center of the Artwork tab, press Ctrl+V to paste.
Or, select artwork, press Ctrl+C to copy, tap the small image area at the top left, press Ctrl+V to paste.
Or, you can drag & drop to, or sometimes from, the same locations.
You can also copy artwork from the Get Info dialog to Windows Explorer with the keyboard shortcuts.
If the source image is on a web page right-click and use Copy Image rather than copy. (With Chrome I get a one pixel wraparound so tend to go for a temporary local copy anyway - not sure whose bug this is, but it isn't new.)
If you have multiple images embedded drag the one you want to be the primary artwork to the leftmost position.
    Replace/Remove All Artwork
The top left image box can be used to add or delete art from multiple tracks. In either case all existing artwork in all tracks is replaced/removed.
    Old Style Get Info Dialog
Select some items, right-click, hold down shift, then click Get Info from the context menu. (Use alt/option on a Mac)

  • ITunes not showing songs that are on the iPod Touch

I have an iPod Touch 4th Generation.
    I use iTunes 11.0.
I usually connect my iPod Touch to iTunes and play songs from there because I do not put songs in my itunes library.
I was doing this as usual and today when I connected my iPod Touch to iTunes, songs did not show up on the music tab of "On This iPod".
Just the previous day, I opened iTunes and there were all my songs.
Today, iTunes does not show any of my downloaded songs that were not bought from the iTunes Store.
The iTunes Capacity Bar shows that I have songs on my iPod Touch.
But when clicking on the iPod and going under the music tab in "On This iPod", there is no music other than a few songs, which were purchased from the iTunes Store itself.
I also tried third party software just today to check if I can get the songs off my iPod.
I tried using SharePod and it did not detect any songs, not even the purchased songs from iTunes.
There are songs on the iPod Touch only. I can play all the songs from the iPod Touch just fine.
They are simply just not showing up on iTunes.
How do I get iTunes to show the songs on my iPod Touch? The capacity bar says there are songs.
I tried SharePod a few times long before this happened, and it showed the songs on the iPod Touch.
I don't understand why all of a sudden the songs all disappeared from iTunes itself only.
(I would say this is similar to other issues where iTunes DOES show songs while the iPod itself DOES NOT. Mine is the opposite.)
Thank you for the help in advance.

I tried backing up the iPod Touch.
Now all the songs on the iPod Touch (except for the purchased ones) are turned to blank names and are skipped.
There is no name for each song or artwork, they all are called 'unknown'.
Only the purchased songs are left unharmed. Everything else is corrupted now.

  • How do I find a downloaded podcast subscription that is not showing up in my library?

I downloaded a podcast subscription and it will not show up in my podcast library in Itunes.  I tried to download it again but it says it is downloaded.  What can I do?

Is the Podcast in iTunes U, which is a separate section within you iTunes Library? If you cannot see iTunes U on the left hand side, under "Library", click on Edit/Preferences/General>iTunes U (tick "on").
Did you actually download this programme "as a Podcast" through the iTunes Store or by subscribing to the Podcast feed in Advanced/Subscribe to Podcast? Or did you get it from the show's website?
Have you checked alternative spellings and even programme titles for the Podcast? (I have one programme, titled "Focus", but which appears under "BBC", who produced it!) Use the Search facilty to check your library.
If all else fails, what is the title of the Podcast, perhaps that may help us find it?

  • IPod Classic no music, freezing iTunes, not showing up, HELP????

I have a used iPod Classic 120GB. I bought it off my friend. I took it home and added my files (about 5,000 songs and 13 videos) to his stuff (about 6,000 songs) and ended up with it being about half full. I let it sync, then ejected and disconnected. But it said there was nothing on it. I went back and reconnected it to my iTunes. The iTunes froze, and I couldnt access the iPod in anyway. I disconnected it, and when I did it unfroze everything, and popped up in iTunes, saying that the iPod was missing.
I checked the iPod's "About" section and it said that it had 56GB of "Other". I took it back to my friend and he said he deleted the folder with everything in it. It is empty now except for 1.2 GB of who knows what, but still freezing my system and not showing up.
I have tried restarting it, and putting it into disk mode. Nothing worked.

HI, i am having the same issue with my ipod. Can you please tell me what you mean by putting on "disk mode" and deleting the files? Thanks
First let's make sure the drive is physically OK...
*Check your iPod with Diagnostics Mode*
It's possible that your iPod's hard drive has started to fail. Take your iPod and place your right thumb on the centre SELECT button and your left on the top MENU button. Press down both thumbs for about 6 seconds until your iPod reboots. Immediately move your left thumb around to the rewind button |<< on the left and hold this down together with SELECT for a further 6 seconds. Your iPod should now switch into Diagnostic Boot mode. Press MENU for *Manual Test*, then select *IO > HardDrive > HDSMARTData* to reveal your stats. For comparison here are mine for my 2 year old 6th Generation Classic:
    Retracts: 889
    Reallocs: 12
    Pending Sectors: 0
    PowerOn Hours: 2202
    Start/Stops: 894
    Temp: Current 24c
    Temp: Min 10c
    Temp: Max 50c
Take a note of your results. When finished press *SELECT & MENU* for 6 seconds to reset the iPod again.
With modern disc drives sectors are no longer marked bad by a disc scan, if the SMART firmware detects a sector it has trouble accessing it will attempt to invisibly reallocate it to a spare area of the disc.
Note that I've only 12 remapped sectors and none pending. To help explain what the numbers mean here is an extract from the Wikipedia S.M.A.R.T. article:
    *Reallocated Sectors Count*
Count of reallocated sectors. When the hard drive finds a read/write/verification error, it marks this sector as "reallocated" and transfers data to a special reserved area (spare area). This process is also known as remapping, and "reallocated" sectors are called remaps. This is why, on modern hard disks, "bad blocks" cannot be found while testing the surface – all bad blocks are hidden in reallocated sectors. However, as the number of reallocated sectors increases, the read/write speed tends to decrease. The raw value normally represents a count of the number of bad sectors that have been found and remapped. Thus, the higher the attribute value, the more sectors the drive has had to reallocate.
    *Pending sector count*
Number of "unstable" sectors (waiting to be remapped, because of read errors). If an unstable sector is subsequently written or read successfully, this value is decreased and the sector is not remapped. Read errors on a sector will not remap the sector (since it might be readable later); instead, the drive firmware remembers that the sector needs to be remapped, and remaps it the next time it's written.
Large numbers of Reallocs or Pending Sectors would suggest your drive is failing and that you may need to repair or replace your iPod. Check your stats after another attempt to update your iPod. If the numbers increase that again points to hard drive failure. While it won't be good news at least you'll know it isn't some random software problem and you can decide what to do next.

Assuming you've ruled out a physical problem with the iPod's drive we can now move on to check for logical problems...
    *Check iPod hard-drive for errors*
Hold Select+Menu on the iPod for about 6 seconds until it resets, then hold Select+Play as soon as the Apple logo appears, again for about 6 seconds to put the machine in disk mode. Open iTunes and in the Sync tab of the preferences menu check *Disable automatic syncing of all iPhones & iPods*. Now connect your iPod to the computer, wait until it connects, then close iTunes. Browse *My Computer* and right-click on the drive for the iPod, click Properties, then click Tools. Under Error-checking, click *Check Now*. Under Check disk options, select *Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors* (Optional - takes ages but a good idea if you've reason to suspect physical damage). Click Start. Mac users should run *Disk Utility / Repair Disk* for the equivalent process. This should find and correct any errors in the logical & physical structures of your iPod's hard drive. Once these have been fixed you can reset the iPod (hold Menu+Select ) and should stand a better chance of a successful restore. It might also pay to check the status of the source drive containing your media, particularly if no errors were found on the iPod.
And if that still doesn't help try Erase your iPod - The Super Fix for most iPod Problems. Basically a low level format of the iPod’s hard drive to get around whatever problems are stopping iTunes from restoring it.
Once you've restored your iPod don't rush to dump all the data back exactly as it was before. I have found that lots of large or complex smart playlists can sometimes trigger constant reboots or dumping of the iPod's library. In addition, larger transfers can fail leaving data in an inconsistent state. Try this technique for populating the iPod in stages.
    *Break up large transfers*
In iTunes select the menu item *File... New Smart Playlist*. Change the first drop-down box to Playlist, the next to is and the next to Music. Tick against *Limit to*, type in say 10, then change the drop-down to GB, and set the last drop-down to artist. When you click OK you can enter a name for the playlist, e.g. Transfer. Now sync this playlist to your iPod rather than your entire library. When the sync is complete modify the rule ( *File... Edit playlist* ) to increase the size by your chosen amount, then sync and repeat. You can experiment with different size increments, if it doesn't work just choose something a bit smaller until it works each time. Before long you should have all your music on your iPod. Once that's done you can move on to other media such as podcasts, videos, photos, playlists etc.
