Podcast does not update on iTunes

Podcast does not update on iTunes
the url
http://itunes.apple.com/tw/podcast/id335308817
the last date is 2010/6/17
But the feed url
http://iphone.realma.com/podcast/ettv.xml
the last date is 2010/10/21 and daily update
Why? Is there any thing wrong in the feed url?
Thank you!

I'm afraid I can't make any sense of this. the iTunes Store page lists 301 episodes from 12 January 2010 to 17 June 2010. If you click on the 'subscribe free' button your iTunes application subscribes to the feed at the URL you give, which contains rather fewer episodes from 17 September 2010 to 22 October 2010 (today).
It's not unknown for something in the feed to be OK with the application but not the Store, but the feed validates in FeedValidator and I can't see anything wrong with it - it's almost impossible to read as it's all on one line, but it doesn't seem to contain any of the usual culprits.
The only explanation which would make any sense (and which doesn't seem to be the case) would be if the feed had been complete only to 17 June until a few days ago, and you only recently replaced it with the current set of episodes: it normally takes 1-2 days for changes to appear (so even under normal circumstances today's episodes wouldn't appear yet in the Store, only on subscribing). Since your feed contains episodes back to September this doesn't seem to apply, but I can't see any other reason.

  • Some items for podcast feed not updating on itunes

    Hey guys,
Here is my podcast feed at podbean and itunes
    http://theflyslip.podbean.com/feed/
    http://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/theflyslip/id509869184
1)And here are my questions. I've updated my channel title as 'Armchair Critics' but its not updated on itunes or when I check it from my iphone 4s
2)When I'm on my iphone and search for my podcast and go to the page it allows me to download individual podcasts it shows the titles of the podcast correctly
eg Armchair Critics - Ep 4x2 - blah blah blah
While Downloading the first time on my iphone it shows like this, but as soon as I DL the 2nd one the title goes to being
1 - the text after Ep 4x2, why is it dropping the Armchair Critics - Ep 4x2? I want it to show like that after downloading and viewing on my music app also(formerly iPod i think didnt have an iphone before the 4s)
3)When viewing the source of my feed I notice that for my first posts the title tags are showing as
    <title>Armchair Critics - Ep1&#215;1 - Dilshan and Captaincy</title>
    it should be something like
    <title>Armchair Critics - Ep4×2 - Thirimanne and Indians</title>
with 4x2, is this some sort of syntax issue, and why does it work for the latest ones and not the old ones?
4)I recently updated my image, its still not updated on itunes or when I check from my iphone, is it cuz the feed needs time to update on itunes?
5)And in general, when I make a change to the feed, how long does it take for itunes to pick up the change.
5a)Does the change happen on itunes automatically?
5b)Do I manually need to update anything? IF so how and where?
6)Also, it I wanna add more itunes tags in future like for changing date/duration etc..how do and where do I do it?

Thanks alot for your reply Roger.
I will reply with comments to my questions based on your reply
    1) The title has sorted it self now on the store but not the image, looks like it has gone to some sort of default podcast image. Is it still updating? I've subscribed on a PC, what does subscribing do exactly ? I thought it would start downloading the podcasts, but nothing happened and I had to manually DL them. Again no image...
    2) The text getting cut off before the x,  eg 4x2 blah blah becoming 2 blah blah on iphone.
Some background - I added the feed to itunes last  week. Did not look at it until yesterday. And all my titles for the podcast had the 2x1 , 2x2 in them from the start - from when I created the episodes in podbean. I only started updating yesterday (again on podbean) cuz it was not showing up ok on the iPhone. SO should it not have worked from the start ? Or am I missing somehting?
Do you think the html code for multiplication is causing it to cut off the text before the x ?
    4) As stated above the image is still not visible to me on itunes after subscribing on a PC. What image do you see by the way ? It should be this?
    http://www.uh.edu/uhdistance/frieden/image12.gif
5 & 6) How do you re-upload the feed ? Since I made the update to the image, do I need to re-upload it to make it work? Is that why its not showing up still ?
Again thanks for the help. Definitely helpful mate.

  • Another Podcast will not update in itunes

I am able to see and download my latest podcast if I use the "show all available episodes" function but it is not seen when the Refresh button or Update Podcast functions are used. All current episodes do appear on the itunes preview page however.
I use Libsyn as an RSS host and they claim this is an itunes 'problem' but it does not seem to effect the other casters that I follow. It could well be a 'finger' problem on my part so if there is anyone with more than my rudimentary knowledge of RSS/XML perhaps you could take a look?
My feed address is http://djdavidmyles.libsyn.com/rss and my itunes is http://itunes.apple.com/podcast/david-myles-podcast/id389699126
I have checked the feed in Feed Validator and I'm getting 2 unknown namespace messages in line one but I do not know if this would is significant with regards to the update issue??
I not that the ping address I was given recently only connects to the itunes store now, though it never seemed to help with previous episodes anyway!
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Thank you for looking in to this for me.
The more I consider this the more I am beginning to wander if it is something to do with my itunes and specifically on my Macbook Pro. Since the last 2 itunes updates there have been problems with transferring some mp3's between itunes and my iphone.
I have just checked the 'update' question on my PC and it works ok but with the same setting on my mac the problem still exists whereby as a subscriber I am not notified when a new podcast is available via the auto or manual Refresh actions, only if I right click the the podcast and use the "Show All..." facility. Both mac and pc are using itunes 10.1.2.
lets hope all my fans are using PC's...something I never thought I would advocate!

  • New Podcast Episode Not Updating in iTunes

    Hello Apple Community,
My name is Sara Simms, I have recently started a new DJ podcast series called Flight. My new episode has not updated yet in the iTunes store (its been over three days since I uploaded it)
My podcast episodes are hosted here:
    http://sarasimms.blogspot.ca
    My Feedburner URL is:
    feed://feeds.feedburner.com/sarasimmsflightofficialpodcast
I also uploaded new artwork via Feedburner, in the 'Podcast' section of iTunes I see the artwork has updated.
However, in the iTunes store itself, the new artwork is not displayed. Here is the link to my iTunes podcast:
    http://bit.ly/VM8tcF
I just pinged Feedburner, hopefully this helps to update everything.
Could anyone else please let me know if there's anything else I should check/change to make sure my podcast episodes are updating?
    Thank you in advance!
    Best wishes,
    Sara Simms

Your second episode has a media file referenced at http://sarasimms.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/flight_episode_two
This works when the URL is entered in a browser, but at the URL has no extension (.mp3) iTunes does not see it as being a media file and thus does not display the episode. You need to give a full URL including the extension, as you have done for your first episode.
You are mixing episodes with and without media files - there are a lot of earlier episodes which don't have media files - these won't show in iTunes. If blogger limits the number of episodes shown in the feed, these will count towards that limit which could result in episodes not showing in iTunes once you have added enough episodes to trigger the limit.

  • Our RSS Feeds for our Podcasts have not updated in iTunes since October

We have three Podcasts established with iTunes. All three stopped showing updates on the iTunes website at the end of October in spite of the fact that we update them weekly. I have run them through a feed validator and everything appears to be fine.
    http://www.kcdzfm.com/upclose.xml
    http://www.kcdzfm.com/localmusic.xml
    http://www.kcdzfm.com/benvaughn.xml
These are the URLs that I have used to link to them on our website. When you visit these URLs, there is nothing past October 27th.

There is no obvious reason why this should be happening. The November episodes show OK when subscibing and the feeds look OK. Sometimes the Store does seem to get stuck and not update for some time, and I'm afraid that that may be what has happened here. It usually sorts itself out eventually, but it's very frustrating.
You could try emailing Support at podcasts 'at' apple.com and ask them to try to do something about it, but to be honest I rather doubt you'll get a helpful answer.

  • Podcast Will Not Update in iTunes

I have a podcast that was working and updating perfectly up until the 5th episode. The feed is working properly: (http://validator.w3.org/feed/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fppadv.com%2Fnewsletters% 2Fpodcast%2Fpodcast.xml)
and I am able to download all the episodes onto my computer if I subscribe. Any ideas on how I can update the podcast listing in itunes?
    Here's the podcast:
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/potratz-think-tank-tuesday/id275218965
    feed:
    http://ppadv.com/newsletters/podcast/podcast.xml
    Thanks

Yes, there is a feed at that address: but it's not the address registered with iTunes. You need to place the feed at that URL:
    http://exclusivelyautomotive.com/newsletters/podcast/podcast.xml
If you can do that you can place the redirection tag in that feed to redirect iTunes to the new URTL, as detailed here. If you no longer have access to that URL you are, to use the technical term, stuffed.
In that event you have only two options. The first is to abandon the old feed altogether. You should get the old podcast removed from the Store - instructions here - and submit your new feed as an entirely new podcast. You will probably need to make a small change in the title, as a bug in the Store software may tell you that the podcast has already been submitted: and of course you will lose any subscribers or comments.
The other option is somewhat uncertain. iTunes Support is notoriously unhelpful, often sending back form answers which often don't deal with the actual problem, or referring the questioner to the Discussions Forum (which may have sent the questioner there in the first place): however it has been known for someone to persuade Support to shift their podcast to a new URL, so it's worth trying. It's probably just a matter of luck who you get. To contact iTunes Support, go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ - click on 'Other iTunes Store Features' in the list and then on 'Podcasts'.

  • Podcasts do not update in iTunes 11.2, podcasts do not update in iTunes 11.2

Since November 18th none of my subscribed podcasts update either manually or automatically.  Using Itunes 11.1.3.  Anyone else experiencing this?

    Hello clmayne,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
    From the *User Guide*:
Delete a podcast: In the Podcasts list in Music, swipe left or right over the podcast, then tap Delete.
So if you can still access these via the iPod Touch, go ahead and delete them directly from it.

  • ITunes Last Played does not update when syncing from iPod

When I synch any of my Ipods, the last played field does not update in Itunes.
If I play the song from Itunes. (11.1.5)  Last Played  works fine.
I tried the crossfade solution, but that did not work. My crossfade was already not selected.
    Any other thoughts?
    Thanks

As if by magic it is now working. I went away from the mac for a couple of hours, came back and it started to work. This is scary as I would expect this kind of action on a Mickysoft machine but not a Mac. Ho Hum - at least the problem has been sorted even if I don't know how.

  • Switched from Podpress to Powerpress and now feed is not updating in iTunes - Please help

    Please help...at my wit's end!
A few days ago I switched from using Podpress to Powerpress for my podcast. I followed all instructions and my feed appears to be valid. However, my podcast is not updating in iTunes at all and when I tried to resubscribe, I got an error message that said that there are no playable episodes.
Please, please...someone help. I really don't know what else to do and trying to get support from Apple or Blubrry has been fruitless.
    My feed is: http://www.surrealla.com/feed/podcast/
    Thank you!

    Hi Roger,
Well, I was unable to locate the old feed (I don't even know if it exists in the conventional way, since it was set up by Podpress), and attempted to remove my podcast completely from iTunes in order to start fresh. Unfortunately, it appears as though iTunes no longer does this and instead directs you to add a <block> tag to your feed....and around we go.
So I've pleaded via Express Lane to please, please have someone change my feed to the new http://www.surrealla.com/feed/podcast/ ...that old feed should have never been set up that way in the first place. Argh.
Question: Can I resubmit my podcast to iTunes without deleting the old one? I'd hate to do that...seems tacky...but I have no idea what else to do if the pleading doesn't work.
Thank you again - you've been so helpful!

  • Podcast artwork does not show in ITunes store

I recently began producing a music podcast http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/felony-buddha/id375837423.
I am using blogger http://www.felonybuddha.com and feedburner http://www.felonybuddha.com/feeds/posts/default?alt=rss.
Initially I did not have the artwork url in SmartCast but I updated Smartcast
on 06/04/2010 with this url http://4.bp.blogspot.com/PuXcBmmd7sY/TAmrnudmrHI/AAAAAAAAAAM/W8kCV6S3N2U/s1600/iStock000010405007XSmall.jpg. I sent a Ping but the podcast artwork still does not show in Itunes store.
What am I doing wrong? Thank you for your help.

The Feedburner feed is probably OK: it does have the declaration and the correct image reference.. As there are no line returns separating the tags it appears either as one or two long lines or as a slab of text, so it's very difficult to read, and you might want to go through your original feed if you can, and put some line returns in.
Assuming it to be OK, you have two possibilities: both involve you editing the original feed.
    For clarity let's label the feeds;
Feed 1 is your original, http://www.felonybuddha.com/feeds/posts/default?alt=rss
    Feed 2 is the Feedburner-generated one, http://feeds.feedburner.com/felonybuddha/MhvA
Method 1: amend feed 1 to contain the necessary tags. The top section of the feed should read:
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
    <rss xmlns:atom='http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom'
    xmlns:openSearch='http://a9.com/-/spec/opensearchrss/1.0/'
    xmlns:georss='http://www.georss.org/georss'
    xmlns:thr='http://purl.org/syndication/thread/1.0' version='2.0'
    xmlns:itunes="http://www.itunes.com/dtds/podcast-1.0.dtd" version="2.0">
    <channel>
Then in the top section of the feed, after 'channel' and before the first 'item' tag, add:
    <itunes:image href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/PuXcBmmd7sY/TAmrnudmrHI/AAAAAAAAAAM/W8kCV6S3N2U/s1600/iStock000010405007XSmall.jpg" />
making sure you don't get this inside another tag (and there must be no line breaks within this). There are still other tags missing, which though they aren't essential, ought really to be there.
Method 2: this might be preferable - redirect iTunes to Feed 2. Feedburner does add a lot of garbage to the feed (intended for compatibility with other rss readers) but they shouldn't cause any problems; however there are some caveats, see below. The method:
You will need to add the following tag to Feed 1, after the 'channel' tag and before the first 'item' tag:
    <itunes:new-feed-url>http://feeds.feedburner.com/felonybuddha/MhvA</itunes:new-feed-url>
Before doing this you should read this Apple Tech Note just so that you are completely clear what you are doing.
Re-upload the feed and leave it there until iTunes has changed to the new feed - this may take some days. To check whether it's changed, go to the Store page for your podcast, click on the 'Subscribe' button, go to the 'Podcasts' section in the sidebar, and click on the 'i' button on the extreme right of the line for your overall podcast (not the episode). The pane which pops up contains the feed iTunes is using.
    Caveats:
Make sure you get the URL exactly right in the redirect. If you make a mistake *you will not be able to get it back* once iTunes has redirected.
Be aware that once you have transferred to Feed 2 you cannot edit that feed directly, only the feed you submit to Feedburner. This may possibly mean that if you later want to redirect to another feed you won't be able to.

  • ITunes: podcasts are not updating automatically

    Hi,
My podcasts are not updating automatically in iTunes as they as they should.
My Mac and iTunes are running 24/7, so iTunes it always running. The update interval of the podcast is set to hourly, latest iTunes, latest Mac OS X.
The podcast actually does update if I re-start iTunes or, if I manually update the podcasts (there is always the latest 1 or 2 daily episodes of say NBC nightly news available, but not yet downloaded)... (but this is not a great solution as I am using iTunes through Plex, the Mac is mor a TV/Mediacenter for my family; Plex can access playlists and podcasts in iTunes, but obviously it cannot trigger iTunes to update, so I have to go out of Plex to update iTunes, very annoying)
How can I ge my my podcasts to be downloaded automatically by iTunes.
    Thank you for any help!

Here is a screenshot of the phenomenon/problem... NBC Nightly News is not updated, even both the computer and iTunes are running constanly. Once I click update podcast, the podcast updates, so there is an update available.

Also, just updated the phone's software today, and iTunes' software is already up to date.

    Hi Gregg,
Have you tried resetting the device (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Home screen redisplays, see if your Music app is behaving normally.
    Cheers,

To do this in iMovie 11. use the SHARE menu. Share your project using the Share menu and choose Export Using QuickTime.
In the Dialog box that comes up, choose Sound to AIFF, or one of the other sound options. This will create a file that you can drag into iTubes.
