Podcast doesn't update on itunes

I have created a video podcast for my family to download videos that I have posted. They have been able to double click on the default rss button to load the feed into itunes. However, itunes does not update the rss feed. I have even tried to reimport an updated rss feed. Can anyone help me solve this problem?

Not sure what the problem is, but first try to select the Podcasts area of the iTunes library, in the blue navigation bar on the left side of iTune. See if the podcast is there.
Also, there are some podcast preferences you can mess with in iTunes. Try that, too.

Latest ep of my podcast doesn't show in iTunes store. Subscribers CAN download it. Podcast page shows 'Total: 3 items' but lists only items 2 and 3. RSS feed is validated and fine. How do I get iTunes to display it?

I've used Feedburner many times and never had such a problem. I am a bit confused, forgive me if I ask for questions already answerd. Have you tried updating the podcast in someone elses copy of iTunes? My guess is that the file is bad since it is working in other programs but not iTunes. I would try making a new .mp4 file and podcasting it and seeing if that works.
    Good luck!

  • Podcast does not update on iTunes

Podcast does not update on iTunes
    the url
    http://itunes.apple.com/tw/podcast/id335308817
    the last date is 2010/6/17
    But the feed url
    http://iphone.realma.com/podcast/ettv.xml
the last date is 2010/10/21 and daily update
Why? Is there any thing wrong in the feed url?
    Thank you!

I'm afraid I can't make any sense of this. the iTunes Store page lists 301 episodes from 12 January 2010 to 17 June 2010. If you click on the 'subscribe free' button your iTunes application subscribes to the feed at the URL you give, which contains rather fewer episodes from 17 September 2010 to 22 October 2010 (today).
It's not unknown for something in the feed to be OK with the application but not the Store, but the feed validates in FeedValidator and I can't see anything wrong with it - it's almost impossible to read as it's all on one line, but it doesn't seem to contain any of the usual culprits.
The only explanation which would make any sense (and which doesn't seem to be the case) would be if the feed had been complete only to 17 June until a few days ago, and you only recently replaced it with the current set of episodes: it normally takes 1-2 days for changes to appear (so even under normal circumstances today's episodes wouldn't appear yet in the Store, only on subscribing). Since your feed contains episodes back to September this doesn't seem to apply, but I can't see any other reason.

  • Some items for podcast feed not updating on itunes

    Hey guys,
Here is my podcast feed at podbean and itunes
    http://theflyslip.podbean.com/feed/
    http://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/theflyslip/id509869184
1)And here are my questions. I've updated my channel title as 'Armchair Critics' but its not updated on itunes or when I check it from my iphone 4s
2)When I'm on my iphone and search for my podcast and go to the page it allows me to download individual podcasts it shows the titles of the podcast correctly
eg Armchair Critics - Ep 4x2 - blah blah blah
While Downloading the first time on my iphone it shows like this, but as soon as I DL the 2nd one the title goes to being
1 - the text after Ep 4x2, why is it dropping the Armchair Critics - Ep 4x2? I want it to show like that after downloading and viewing on my music app also(formerly iPod i think didnt have an iphone before the 4s)
3)When viewing the source of my feed I notice that for my first posts the title tags are showing as
    <title>Armchair Critics - Ep1&#215;1 - Dilshan and Captaincy</title>
    it should be something like
    <title>Armchair Critics - Ep4×2 - Thirimanne and Indians</title>
with 4x2, is this some sort of syntax issue, and why does it work for the latest ones and not the old ones?
4)I recently updated my image, its still not updated on itunes or when I check from my iphone, is it cuz the feed needs time to update on itunes?
5)And in general, when I make a change to the feed, how long does it take for itunes to pick up the change.
5a)Does the change happen on itunes automatically?
5b)Do I manually need to update anything? IF so how and where?
6)Also, it I wanna add more itunes tags in future like for changing date/duration etc..how do and where do I do it?

Thanks alot for your reply Roger.
I will reply with comments to my questions based on your reply
    1) The title has sorted it self now on the store but not the image, looks like it has gone to some sort of default podcast image. Is it still updating? I've subscribed on a PC, what does subscribing do exactly ? I thought it would start downloading the podcasts, but nothing happened and I had to manually DL them. Again no image...
    2) The text getting cut off before the x,  eg 4x2 blah blah becoming 2 blah blah on iphone.
Some background - I added the feed to itunes last  week. Did not look at it until yesterday. And all my titles for the podcast had the 2x1 , 2x2 in them from the start - from when I created the episodes in podbean. I only started updating yesterday (again on podbean) cuz it was not showing up ok on the iPhone. SO should it not have worked from the start ? Or am I missing somehting?
Do you think the html code for multiplication is causing it to cut off the text before the x ?
    4) As stated above the image is still not visible to me on itunes after subscribing on a PC. What image do you see by the way ? It should be this?
    http://www.uh.edu/uhdistance/frieden/image12.gif
5 & 6) How do you re-upload the feed ? Since I made the update to the image, do I need to re-upload it to make it work? Is that why its not showing up still ?
Again thanks for the help. Definitely helpful mate.

  • New Podcast Episode Not Updating in iTunes

    Hello Apple Community,
My name is Sara Simms, I have recently started a new DJ podcast series called Flight. My new episode has not updated yet in the iTunes store (its been over three days since I uploaded it)
My podcast episodes are hosted here:
    http://sarasimms.blogspot.ca
    My Feedburner URL is:
    feed://feeds.feedburner.com/sarasimmsflightofficialpodcast
I also uploaded new artwork via Feedburner, in the 'Podcast' section of iTunes I see the artwork has updated.
However, in the iTunes store itself, the new artwork is not displayed. Here is the link to my iTunes podcast:
    http://bit.ly/VM8tcF
I just pinged Feedburner, hopefully this helps to update everything.
Could anyone else please let me know if there's anything else I should check/change to make sure my podcast episodes are updating?
    Thank you in advance!
    Best wishes,
    Sara Simms

Your second episode has a media file referenced at http://sarasimms.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/flight_episode_two
This works when the URL is entered in a browser, but at the URL has no extension (.mp3) iTunes does not see it as being a media file and thus does not display the episode. You need to give a full URL including the extension, as you have done for your first episode.
You are mixing episodes with and without media files - there are a lot of earlier episodes which don't have media files - these won't show in iTunes. If blogger limits the number of episodes shown in the feed, these will count towards that limit which could result in episodes not showing in iTunes once you have added enough episodes to trigger the limit.

  • Podcasts don't update in iTunes on Win 7 64bit

I have the 64bit version of iTunes installed on my computer (Win 7 64 bit), but all my podcasts won't update even when I have the podcast set to update every hour. I have to manually right click and choose update podcast in order to check for updates. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

    Hi,
I have the same problem. But with audio podcasts too. If I had played them on my ipod touch it's not synchronized with itunes. itunes knows the podcast still as "unseen" and sync this information back to my ipod. so next time I will hear a podcast all podcasts I have already heard have the blue point again.
I hope for a fix too or a info what i do wrong.

  • Another Podcast will not update in itunes

I am able to see and download my latest podcast if I use the "show all available episodes" function but it is not seen when the Refresh button or Update Podcast functions are used. All current episodes do appear on the itunes preview page however.
I use Libsyn as an RSS host and they claim this is an itunes 'problem' but it does not seem to effect the other casters that I follow. It could well be a 'finger' problem on my part so if there is anyone with more than my rudimentary knowledge of RSS/XML perhaps you could take a look?
My feed address is http://djdavidmyles.libsyn.com/rss and my itunes is http://itunes.apple.com/podcast/david-myles-podcast/id389699126
I have checked the feed in Feed Validator and I'm getting 2 unknown namespace messages in line one but I do not know if this would is significant with regards to the update issue??
I not that the ping address I was given recently only connects to the itunes store now, though it never seemed to help with previous episodes anyway!
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Thank you for looking in to this for me.
The more I consider this the more I am beginning to wander if it is something to do with my itunes and specifically on my Macbook Pro. Since the last 2 itunes updates there have been problems with transferring some mp3's between itunes and my iphone.
I have just checked the 'update' question on my PC and it works ok but with the same setting on my mac the problem still exists whereby as a subscriber I am not notified when a new podcast is available via the auto or manual Refresh actions, only if I right click the the podcast and use the "Show All..." facility. Both mac and pc are using itunes 10.1.2.
lets hope all my fans are using PC's...something I never thought I would advocate!

  • Podcast Will Not Update in iTunes

I have a podcast that was working and updating perfectly up until the 5th episode. The feed is working properly: (http://validator.w3.org/feed/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fppadv.com%2Fnewsletters% 2Fpodcast%2Fpodcast.xml)
and I am able to download all the episodes onto my computer if I subscribe. Any ideas on how I can update the podcast listing in itunes?
    Here's the podcast:
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/potratz-think-tank-tuesday/id275218965
    feed:
    http://ppadv.com/newsletters/podcast/podcast.xml
    Thanks

Yes, there is a feed at that address: but it's not the address registered with iTunes. You need to place the feed at that URL:
    http://exclusivelyautomotive.com/newsletters/podcast/podcast.xml
If you can do that you can place the redirection tag in that feed to redirect iTunes to the new URTL, as detailed here. If you no longer have access to that URL you are, to use the technical term, stuffed.
In that event you have only two options. The first is to abandon the old feed altogether. You should get the old podcast removed from the Store - instructions here - and submit your new feed as an entirely new podcast. You will probably need to make a small change in the title, as a bug in the Store software may tell you that the podcast has already been submitted: and of course you will lose any subscribers or comments.
The other option is somewhat uncertain. iTunes Support is notoriously unhelpful, often sending back form answers which often don't deal with the actual problem, or referring the questioner to the Discussions Forum (which may have sent the questioner there in the first place): however it has been known for someone to persuade Support to shift their podcast to a new URL, so it's worth trying. It's probably just a matter of luck who you get. To contact iTunes Support, go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ - click on 'Other iTunes Store Features' in the list and then on 'Podcasts'.

  • My podcast doesn't appear on Itunes search

It has been 4 days now since I created my podcast and it still does not appear on Itunes search, nor does it appear when attemtping to browse for it under the categories and subcategories section. my podcast feed was validated so there doesn't appear to be anything wrong, and the image link is correct for the cover art...can anyone help?? Or do I have to wait a month till it finally shows up?

It can take quite a long time. It's not possible to comment further without knowing the details of your podcast.

  • Our RSS Feeds for our Podcasts have not updated in iTunes since October

We have three Podcasts established with iTunes. All three stopped showing updates on the iTunes website at the end of October in spite of the fact that we update them weekly. I have run them through a feed validator and everything appears to be fine.

    http://www.kcdzfm.com/localmusic.xml
    http://www.kcdzfm.com/benvaughn.xml
These are the URLs that I have used to link to them on our website. When you visit these URLs, there is nothing past October 27th.

There is no obvious reason why this should be happening. The November episodes show OK when subscibing and the feeds look OK. Sometimes the Store does seem to get stuck and not update for some time, and I'm afraid that that may be what has happened here. It usually sorts itself out eventually, but it's very frustrating.
You could try emailing Support at podcasts 'at' apple.com and ask them to try to do something about it, but to be honest I rather doubt you'll get a helpful answer.

  • Podcasts do not update in iTunes 11.2, podcasts do not update in iTunes 11.2

Since November 18th none of my subscribed podcasts update either manually or automatically.  Using Itunes 11.1.3.  Anyone else experiencing this?

    Hello clmayne,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
    From the *User Guide*:
Delete a podcast: In the Podcasts list in Music, swipe left or right over the podcast, then tap Delete.
So if you can still access these via the iPod Touch, go ahead and delete them directly from it.

  • Podcast doesn't play in iTunes

    Hello guys,
I have made a video podcast page. This is what I did:
    - clicked File>New Page, then I did choose Podcast page template from iWeb library
    - changed text
    - dragged and dropped my own video clip (.m4v QT which is supported format for apple TV)
from my desktop into the template's video well
    - clicked Publish to the folder (inputing my website URL before publishing)
    - testing from my desktop was good
    - copied and pasted all files generated by iWeb from my folder onto my website (using Fetch)
    - opened Safari, everything works fine, video is playing from my webpage fine
    - subscribed to the podcast
    - iTunes opens, but video does not play
So is there any additional step I have missed?

Yeah, I think what's happening is that when you subscribe, it's downloading the file. When playing through the store, it's streaming it. I believe it has to do with how the mime types are configured on our web server, although I definitely could be wrong about that. I'm still investigating how the videos were encoded, but I don't think that's the issue.

  • Podcast doesn't Appear in iTunes Search

    Hello to all,
Like many I am experiencing this very anoying problem.
My podcast was accepted by Apple on the 1st of January.
    I was sent this phobos:
    http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=271148581
But after more than a month, I still can't find my Channel in the iTunes Search and I triple checked that both the channel and the items have tags and they do.
    My feed location is: http://feeds.feedburner.com/AirPodbyAirDrop
I really don't know what else to do. So please help !
    Thanks

Thanks Roger. That's not the answer I wanted to hear, but it may be the truth.
I don't understand why they would even have a <itunes:keywords> field if it never really gets used?
Also- I've found that the search returns favor the title of the episode. For instance, if you search for 'Georgia Tech', my podcast will come up because we had 'Georgia Tech' in the name of one of our podcasts.
    Very strange....
I also think it might have something to do with feedburner's handeling of the xml code.
I'd appreciate any more suggestions. Thanks!

  • My podcast isn't updating in iTunes despite the fact that my RSS feed is updating just fine. Help?

I posted an episode about a week and a bit ago. It was viewable on the RSS feed but not on iTunes. After a week went by I tried reposting it plus the next day I posted another new episode as a test. Neither appeared in the podcast.
My RSS feed seems fine. Does anyone know what's going on?

    Hi Jacolli,
I have recommended Libsyn.com for the past 7 Plus years.  I have worked for them for the past 5 years - so I am a little biased.  But again I was recommending them before I worked for them.
Libsyn is the largest podcast host.  90% of the top audio comedy podcast host with libsyn.  And any given week 30 to 50% of the top audio podcast in iTunes top 200 list are podcasts using libsyn.
If you are using Feedburner - switching is simple.  We can import in your files from your source feed - and then you can just repoint feedburner to the new libsyn feed.  Then going forward all you have to do is upload a file - enter a title and description and hit publish - it is that easy.
feel free to email me off the board for more info -  rob at wizzard dot tv
