Podcast downloads: keeps giving the message Error 9006

I have a problem downloading a podcast. It keeps giving me the error message 9006. I contacted Apple by email and the information they gave me was:" It means the TCP connection was closed unexpectedly. These closings, or time outs can happen for a variety of reasons." This however doesn't resolve my problem. Any advice on this matter would be appreciated.

I have the same problem. It appears to be a connection issue with my ISP. They said they have some faulty equipment which is causing excessive line noise and interfering with my downloads. Yours might be a similar problem.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

    Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

    Still having problems but here's more info: Checked "Resume" but  Message next to the job says ERROR but that 'Pinter is ready'.
    However, on the PRINT & FAX page in System Preferences it has 'Idle' next to the psc1317 (default) printer.The computer scans the document but wil not print it. With printer off I disconnected the power cable and the USB from the computer then re-connected after 1 minute.  When I turned the printer back on it printed the test sheet but not the document.  I have also unistalled then reinstalled the hp1317 Snow Leopard software and driver and computer says that all software is up to date. Apart from a dodgy connection I have no idea where to go from here!

  • I tried to upgrade to Firefox 4.0. I keep getting error message"Your computer must be restarted to complete a previous upgrade of Firefox. Do you want to reboot now." I check yes and it reboots, but keeps giving the same error message.

    I tried to sync Firefox mobile to my PC. Then I tried to upgrade to Firefox 4.0, which was a mistake, because I already had 4.0. I checked yes to install it again. Then I tried to uninstall and reinstall 4.0. That is when I started getting the error message.

    I downloaded the Remote XUL Manager add-on for Firefox (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/remote-xul-manager/), restarted FF, went to Tools and scrolled down and clicked on "Remote XUL Manager." I clicked "Add" and pasted the URL for the link where I log-in to Lotus Notes into the dialogue box, and ta-dah! Back to email. Took me longer to type this than fix the problem.

    1. In the Firefox dropdown list, select Add-Ons
    2. Click on Add-Ons and select Extensions
    Deleted AVG Toolbar. No more error message!

    Try a more recent version of my advice. The "for older video cards version" may work when the default version doesn't.
    For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
    The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
    The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
    Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • Canon Powershot SX700 won't authenticate and camera keeps giving the message "check settings"

    Help PLEASE! I'm pretty computer savy but I can't figure this out. I'm running on a Mac OS version 10.9.2 and I have downloaded all the software from Canon, I'm connected but the camera says check settings when I go to authenticate the camera....I can't upload any pictures to the Canon Image Gateway....I'm really frustrated with this. It shouldn't be this difficult. 

    So here's what happened....I had everything right; my camera saw my computer and I was registered. It just wouldn't let me authenticate. Canon Support (on the phone) tried everything with me and we couldn't get it hooked up to the online Canon iMage Gateway. Let me say here support was great and I like that but I think that it should be a breeze to connect to...it is with all my Apple Devices. The Canon Tech suggested that I take my camera and computer to a friends house and see if her internet modemn would let me connect....IT DID! Right off the bat. SO NOW I"M HOOKED UP AND AUTHENTICATED! YEA!!! BUT the uploader plugin won't work now and I can't seem to uninstall it....so if you had a "check settings" message- go to a library or neighbor and see if you can connect it through their internet.....good luck.
