Podcast Episodes aren't listed.

I've just had my podcast approved and added to the iTunes store here: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/voos-review-podcast/id846023549?mt=2
It says that the podcast contains 1 items, and when you 'Subscribe' the episode file comes down fine, however there's no listing of that episode on the podcast page? I'm looking to make sure episodes are listed correctly, any ideas why?

It's working fine for me:
What you describe is a bug which does appear in the Store from time to time - it's not a problem with your feed - and usually sorts itself out eventually. You may find it already has for you.

  • One of my podcast episodes is not listed on iTunes services

    Hola Apple Folk,
I started a podcast last year, originally on my own personal Wordpress site then moved all the content to a new website. I reposted old episodes to my new site and removed them from my old site then updated my feed. For months, all of my episodes appeared on the iTunes store, Podcasts app, and other apps like Stitcher. Just recently I've noticed that my very first episode is now no longer available in any format, even though nothing was changed in the post and the url still verifies. What's the most likely reason that a single episode might go missing from these platforms?

    Thanks!

There is no way to delete songs from an iPod.
Nothing will be touched on your iPod in regards to iTunes content with the first sync with iTunes on your new computer if you transfer your iTunes library from your old computer to your new computer following the simple instructions included with the link provided. Certainly as a Windows user you maintain a backup for all important data which should include your iTunes library? Important regardless the platform but even more so with Windows due to constant virus, adware, and spyware concerns. Or do most Windows users start with a new computer from scratch without transferring any data from an old computer to a new computer due to constant virus, adware, and spyware concerns?
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased from the iTunes store only from an iPod - really. As the largest distributor for music and as #1 by far in MP3 player sales, this is required by those who own the distribution rights for the music. Part of an effort to prevent or minimize stealing music by those who own the distribution rights.

  • Podcast in Store, 1 item total but episode is not listed

Podcast is in the Store but episode is not listed.
My new podcast was recently approved by Itunes. It is now dispays in the store and shows a total of one item, but the podcast episode is not listed. I can subscribe to it and listen to it through Itunes but in the Store the episode is not shown even though it says there is a total of one item. Is something wrong or am I impatient?

Thanks Roger. I had emailed ITunes about this and got a standard Podcast FAQ response. I replied explaining that didn't help me. Then a few days later I got a message from another person that they were investigating. About a day or two later the episodes are now listed. So whether they did something or it corrected itself I don't know. I appreciated your response - at least I knew it wasn’t something with my feed.
    Cheers!

  • Itunes doesn't list all of my recent podcasts. My show is Black Tribbles and it only shows episodes through March 2013, however we do at least two shows a week and they aren't listed. The feed works because the show update to my computer. Help please.

    Your feed is at http://blacktribbles.podomatic.com/rss2.xml
When subscribed to in iTunes the recent episodes show, but the Store hasn't updated for some time.
There appears to be an issue with the feed. In the episode 'WRESTLING MARCH MADNESS: Final Bracket & Championship' of 31st March you will find in the 'description' tag the following line:
    4. KURT ANGLE
At the end of this line is an invisible character which seems to be wrecking the feed - although it works OK when suscribing in iTunes it won't load in a browser (and I also found the feed very slow to load, which won't help matters with the Store)
This sort of thing usually happens when you paste text in from a word processing application and manage to include one of the invisible control characters. I don't know how easy it will be do do it in Podomatic but you should delete that entire line and retype it to remove this charter.
You should keep an eye on the time it takes the feed to be accessed - if there is a long enough delay (and it was quite some seconds when I tried) the Store may well timeout and fail to read it. At the moment it's showing a cached version from the last time it was able to read it.

  • HT5772 How do I delete podcast episodes that I don't want to keep without having them stay in my List view in iTunes and clog it up?  I have some episodes that I've listened to that I want to keep, but others I want to delete.

Using iTunes on my MacBookPro, I find that when I want to delete selected podcast eisodes, they still stay in my List view with the cloud symbol next to them. I don't want them in my List view. I want them gone. I don't want to download them ever again. I do keep some episodes so I don't want to do the draconian thing and delete all podcast episodes once I've heard them. The other problem I have with trying to delete episodes is that some podcasts then have the same episodes pop back up as though I haven't listened to them. I've deleted a bunch of Science Friday episodes only to have them download again ready to hear. Not only that, but some episodes will finish playing or stop playing in the middle of an episode and a random podcast will start playing. Think! does that. GAH!!
Does anyone know a workaround? The same nonsense happens in any iTunes view I try.
    <Edited by Host>

You can delete photos from individual albums but not from the camera roll.  If you try to delete a photo from camera roll it will be deleted from all other albums ("locations") that contain the photo.  This is because the actual photo is in the camera roll (the albums only contain links to the photo in camera roll, not the actual photo).

  • Listing Podcast Episode's on Podcast Description Screen

How do I list a history of recent podcast episodes on my Podcast description screen in the iTunes store?

Have you tried sorting by date?

  • ITunes refusing to download a podcast episode

I subscribe to four podcasts and I like to download all episodes and keep them to listen to them whenever I want to.
But I am having an issue with an episode of one of my podcasts.
As one can see in the print screen below, the episode 397 of the podcast is not downloaded, and even if I try clicking the cloud button or right-clicking the episode and choosing "download episode", it doesn't download.
I have the lastest version of iTunes, my OS is Win 7 x64 updated.
My podcasts aren't syncing with my iDevices because of the iCloud issues that obliviate all download podcasts that aren't synced.
    Thnak you for any help!

    In my experience;
an episode of a podcast may come from one server to a portable device, and a different server to a desktop. So if I'm correct, that could mean that only the desktop version is not working.
when I have seen an exclamation mark next the Podcast header, clicking on the exclamation mark displays a message saying "the Podcast could not be found on the server", so that is why I suspect that in this situation, it means the episode cannot be located.
iTunes (Apple) does not host Podcasts. The Store simply lists them. If you choose to download an episode of a particular Podcast, iTunes asks the host server to download the episode directly to your Library. It does not go through the iTunes Store.
contacting the Podcast's producers is (in my opinion) the second best method of getting the issue resolved.
the best method for getting the issue resolved (because it involves no effort at all on your part) is do nothing, and wait until someone else sorts out the issue.

  • How do I stop having iTunes show multiple copies of podcast episode on iPhone?

When I sync my iPhone to my computer with iTunes, iTunes appears to show multiple copies of the podcast episodes on my iPhone.
How can I correct this?  I'm running the latest copies of iTunes and I'm using Mavericks.  The iPhone is a 4S running the latest iOS.
    Thanks,

I know this is a little bit old, but I started having this problem, and this thread was one of the ones that showed up.  I believe I figured out a little bit more, at least in my instance.
I have a 5C, running the latest iOS, and the latest iTunes running on the latest Mavericks.
If you're having what I'm having, you don't see multiple copies browsing the iPhone Podcasts app; you only see the multiples when you go to "on this iPhone" in iTunes, or click the device in the sidebar.   I had a similar issue; I was seeing something like a dozen copies of the same Freakonomics podcast, and often another one was getting added after I synced.
I checked my iPhone though - and I don't think there's actually mulitple copies of the file, despite what iTunes is telling me.
On the iPhone itself, go to "settings", and then "general", and then usage.  This screen will tell you how much storage each app on the phone is using.  If you click "Podcasts" on this list, the next screen will break down the storage used for each podcast.  I took note of the size it was reporting for podcasts that showed duplicate copies in iTunes; and then added up the file size for the number of files that *should* have been on there.   Three episodes should have been something around 80 MB, and that's exactly how much the Podcasts app said it was using.  Had I actually been storing 12 copies of the same episode, it should have been much larger.  (The numbers here are rough guesses, I don't remember what they were exactly at the time, but was exacting when checking, and the math did check out.)
I also checked the sum total size of the podcast audio files on of my laptop, and the Podcast App reported using pretty much exactly the same storage for all audio files as if I added up a single copy of all files that *should* be there for the podcasts I expected to be on the phone.
So while this seems like yet another screw-up behaviour of the Podcast App, at least in my case, it doesn't appear that it's something to worry a whole lot about, as the poodcasts aren't eating up space on your iPhone, at least if you're only seeing the duplicates while browsing the device in iTunes.  Still another item on the list of reasons the default Podcast app needs to be fixed, though.
When I finally listened to the podcast in question, and it became marked for deletion (and at that point shows a "cloud" icon next to it, which I believe means the file itself is actually already gone from the device, and the "deleting" in 24 hours is just the item being removed from the list) the duplicates all disappeared from the iTunes view.

  • Podcast episodes will not download from podcast stream

I have set up a podcast on my website to download sermons. I created the xml file which I tested in my feeds section of my browser. The xml file works perfectly there in that all the episodes are listed with thier respective audio files. If you click on the actual audio file it downloads the way that it should and plays. I copied the xml file location and went into Itunes and chose subdcribe to a pod cast. It asked for the url which I pasted the xml file location. Itunes displayed all of my episodes the way that it should. The problem then starts. When I click on an episode to download the audio file the episode name flashes for a second or 2 in the window on top and then nothing. The audio file will not download on any of the episodes. It lists them all but other then that I can't do anything with them. My xml file location is: http://www.stpaulsconway.org/stpaulssermons.xml What could I possibly be doing wrong?

Glad to hear that you have solved your problem.
May I suggest that if you have any further questions regarding Podcasts that you are producing, that you post the question in the Producing Podcasts community, where people with more specific knowledge will be sure to help you.

  • ITune will no longer download podcast episodes

Okay, as the subject line said, I can't no longer download any podcast episode.  This started to happen after I updated my Norton software last weekend.  Now I can't play any episodes that were downloaded before the Norton update.  I can still "grab" new episodes, but they show up with an exclamation mark right next to them as if the file hasn't been downloaded, but I can stream those files as if I am listening to internet radio.  Obviously, I can't import those new episodes to my iPod because they aren't downloaded files.  Also, my entire library of music are no longer playable in iTune as well.  As of now, the only thing iTune is good for on my computer is listening to podcast episodes through internet streaming.  I'm running a Window Vista 32-bit system.  Help, anyone?

I'm having this exact same problem. Here's how it happened for me:
I was in my house about to leave waiting for someone, and it dawned on me to download some new or recent episodes of a podcast. I went into the Podcast app and started them, and then locked my device thinking that the episodes would be downloading. Little did I know they weren't on my wifi for some reason. I found this out when the person I was waiting for was ready to leave so we could go somewhere and I unlocked my phone in the car. At that point I switched over to LTE and the oldest of these 3 episodes I wanted to download started downloading and was completed in seconds. When it got to the other 2 remaining episodes, they both just had the status of "Preparing to download..." With the loading wheel that tells you how much has been downloaded at 0%. Still right now it's like this. Could this just be an issue with LTE, the podcast, or any of iTunes podcasts as a whole?

  • All podcast episodes have disappeared and I'm no longer ranking

I've successfully uploaded 6 podcast episodes over the past couple of weeks and had been ranking pretty well as of last night. Today I check and my podcast has disappeared from the ranks. When I search on my podcast, it is listed with artwork and description and ratings, but the episodes are all gone. I appreciate any suggestions or ideas on what happened and what I can do about it. Here is my link: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/win-the-weight-game/id677470205

I would highly highly recommend if you are hosting with libsyn - use the libsyn feed - and not the one via powerpress.  Publish the episodes to your libsyn account - and then connect your libsyn account to your wordpress site via the libsyn Wordpress feature.
    http://support.libsyn.com/faqs/onpublish-wordpress/
There are so many tickets on here about issues with wordpress.
If you want your show to be in iTunes and be solid in iTunes - stick with the feed from libsyn and not from your wordpress / powerpress configuration.  In the long run you will have much much fewer issues - and libsyn support is there to help you for any issues you might have.
Email me if you want to know how to switch to the libsyn feed.
    rob (at) libsyn dot com
One of the best features of Libsyn  - is offering you a feed that works all the time with iTunes.

  • Podcast episodes not updating correctly in iTunes

    Hello,
I am having a problem with my podcast episodes not updating correctly in iTunes.  The last 5 episodes I published appeared in iTunes at the bottom of the episode list, as if they were old episodes--i.e., they appear as if they were the first 5 episodes published.  They also do not have a date assigned to them as the rest of the episodes do.  They were not distributed to podcast subscribers, possibly because iTunes is not recognizing them as new episodes.
Here is my podcast feed: http://ic.instantcustomer.com/instantcasts/feed/podcast/5047174b90f14efe542431c2 674b1bd9
And here is the link to my podcast in iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/small-business-marketing-minute/id896451432
The problem began with last Wednesday's episode, which was Episode 30, and has continued ever since.  I did not do anything differently when I published that episode than I did when I published the previous 29 episodes, and those updated just fine, or at least seemed to as far as I could tell (i.e., they appeared correctly on iTunes, and appeared as a new episode for me as a podcast subscriber).  Also, after examining the rss feed, I could not see any difference between episodes 1-29 and episodes 30--34, at least as far as the way the feed was formatted.  So, I have no idea what triggered the problem, and no idea how to fix it.  If I can't resolve the issue then I think I'll have to abandon the podcast, since there's no point in publishing a podcast that doesn't distribute new episodes to subscribers.
If anyone can shed light on this problem for me, it would be most appreciated.     Thanks!
    -Kevin

As you say, in the Store the latest episodes don't show a publishing date. When subscribing in iTunes, none of the episodes show a publishing date, and they are listed in the order they appear in the feed.
In the feed, none of your episodes has a 'pubDate' tag, which is where iTunes gets the date from. Since most of the episodes in the Store have a date, it looks as if originally your episodes had this tag, but that five episodes back you did something in whatever method you are using to create your feed which removed these tags: the Store is presumably getting the dates from its cache since the episodes haven't changed, but obviously doesn't have the dates for the last 5 episodes.

  • Unable to check/uncheck older podcast episodes in iPod sync to iTunes 11.0

    Hi,
I have a few podcasts in my iTunes where I have saved a large number of episodes. Now I have upgraded to the new version of iTunes I unable to check/uncheck older podcast episodes from iPod syncing - the finder window won't scroll to the bottom of the list, and just 'bounces' after scrolling past a certain number!
Not sure if this is a bug, or I'm overlooking something.
    Thanks

I have the same problem.  Scrolling does not work in the iPod podcast list panel, but it works in every other panel or window in iTunes...

  • Podcast episodes won't download in iTunes app (but works fine on desktop)

Hi, I can't figure this out:
Our podcast episodes simply won't download in the iTunes app on iPhone. The download simply stops at 10.3 kB (or sometimes at another value), without really getting started at all.
This is very odd, since downloads are working fine in iTunes on the desktop, and in other apps on the phone (such as Instacast).
Here's the iTunes-page for the podcast:
    http://itunes.apple.com/no/podcast/filmfrelst/id303539607?l=nb
And here's the RSS feed URL:
    http://montages.no/filmfrelst_files/rss.php
(The podcast is called "Filmfrelst", and is searchable in the iTunes app)
    Any clues?

OK, seems like I located the problem - sort of.  It's not the feed that's the issue, but rather the fact that I'm pushing my MP3-files through a PHP script which does some statcounting. If I access the MP3 files directly, the iTunes app downloads them OK.
So I'm guessing maybe my headers aren't exactly what the iTunes app is expencting? Here's a snippet from the PHP file which outputs the MP3 data:
    header('Content-Type: audio/mp3');
    header('Content-Length: 'filesize($location));
    @readfile($location);

  • Podcast episodes are not showing up in iTunes

My podcast “Dimsum Mandarin” was submitted to iTunes on Aug 4, and all was well until these two weeks. Episode 8 was uploaded on Sep 4, but have yet to show up in the feed, as can be seen in the screen cap attached. A new episode 9 was also uploaded on Sep 11, and have not showed up so far either.
The feed is burned through feedburner at http://feeds.feedburner.com/DimsumMandarin-LearnMandarinChinese.
Subscriptions still seem to work though.
It would be greatly appreciated if any kind soul could point me in the right direction to solve this issue.
    Thanks lots!

well, i never got a reply directly to my question, but i was directed by email to post my problem within itunes... go to the podcast page of my podcast and then select "report a concern"... i always thought this was to report offensive podcasts, but if you click on that button you'll see a pull down list with a bunch of problems... i selected "difficulty downloading" and then explained the problem completely... as i said, i never heard back from anyone, but about 4 days later my podcast episode showed up... and this past wednesday we uploaded the latest episode and it showed up in the iTMS almost immediately... go figure?!
if anyone's interested, the podcast name is Schnauzer Logic and its comedy and talk and music and pop culture (i used to be the host of a morning show)... good for a giggle once a week for a couple of hours.
    cheers!
