Podcast err = -5000

Hi everyone,
I just put my wife's music on my MacBook Pro (3rd Gen) on her own account. Now, iTunes works perfectly and her library is all set...except one problem: whenever we try to download the Podcasts she is subscribed to, they all time out and give the following message: "err = -5000".
I've tried unsubscribing and deleting some of her Podcasts...and then resubscribing. Doesn't fix the problem.
One other thing to know is that her music is being housed on an external drive connected via USB...and also formatted FAT and not HFS. Long story why I have it like this...that's just the way it needs to be. Yes, the iTunes music folder location is set to the drive and it is mounted. Everything else is working great - music, movies, tv shows...just can't get new podcasts to download.
Any suggestions? I don't see anything on the forums relating to this error code.
Thanks so much for your assistance!
Dave

Hope you found and fixed the problem before throwing the MacBook Pro across the room.
Had the same problem when my external drive filled up, and iTunes continued to try and downloads Podcasts. Seem the permissions get scrabbled..

Fixed the problem, podcasts started downloading correctly..

  • Updates for App won't download - not enough access privilege - Err = -5000

I can't update any of my iPhone Apps thru iTunes. I get the following message
"There were problems downloading some purchased items.
For more information on the items that could not be downloaded, click below.
There was a problem downloading “FastFood - Top Restaurant finder app”. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation.
Please check that the connection to the network is active and try again."
On the Downloads screen I see the following message. "stopped (err = -5000)"
I can update the Apps thru the iPhone, but not thru iTunes. Didn't have this problem until I upgraded to iTunes 9. Also every time I start iTunes it asks for my password. Any ideas how to fix this.?

Thanks but it's still not working. Also every time I start iTunes it asks for my password. I also have my iTunes library on an external hard drive though iTunes 8 had none of these problems. Another problem I have is that the screensaver no longer sees my album artwork even though iTunes still displays it. Not sure if I should try moving my iTunes library back to my boot drive.

  • Err = -5000

i am getting "err = -5000" when attempting to download purchased music - what does the error mean?  How can I correct it?

Perhaps try the "Error -50," "-5000," "8003," "8008," or "-42023" section in the Specific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows) section of the following document:
    iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting

  • Itunes match download err -5000

I have subscribed to iTunes match yesterday from my MBP 15" and uploaded all my music to the cloud. Afterwards I have added iTunes match to my rMBP 13" and everything went more or less smooth except of ca. 30 titles which were uploaded or matched (as indicated by the 'iCloud status' column) and they have the iCloud download icon aside.
However, when I want to download the item to my rMB 13" I get the following message: "There was a problem downloading XXXXX . You do not have enough access priviliges for this operation".
And if I go into the download overview it shows the err = -5000 code which I can not identify in the iTunes match FAQ.
I already tried to repair permissions and restart iTunes but actually it didn't change anything regarding the error.
Streaming of the title is possible and working, but I need the files locally!!!! as I do not always have connectivity.

    Hi der_lockere!
I have an article for you here that references this error code, and can provide some troubleshooting steps for you to help you resolve it:
    iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3297
    "Error -50," "-5000," "8003," "8008," or "-42023"
These alerts occur due to timeouts or conflicts trying to write a file during download.
If you encounter this issue while accessing iTunes Store:
See iTunes 9: "One Moment Please" or "Error (-50)" message when accessing iTunes Store
If you encounter this issue while while downloading something from the iTunes Store:
Delete your iTunes Downloads folder, located in:
    Mac OS X:
~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Downloads   Note: "iTunes Media" may appear as "iTunes Music. Also, the tilde (~) refers to your Home directory.
    Windows Vista:
       \Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
    Windows 7:
       \Users\username\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
    Windows XP:
       \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
After locating your iTunes Downloads folder:
    Quit iTunes.
Delete the Downloads folder on your computer.
    Open iTunes.
Choose Store > Check for Available Downloads.
Enter your account name and password.
If you encounter this issue while while downloading Digital Copies using Windows:
Use MSCONFIG (directions for Windows XP and Windows Vista/Windows 7) to disable conflicting software.
If using MSCONFIG steps resolves the issue, you may want to use the System Configuration Utility to turn on the third-party System Services and Startup Items one at a time (restarting your computer after turning on the item or items) to identify which System Service or Startup Item is causing the conflict.
You can turn all of them back on by selecting the Normal Startup option under the General tab of the System Configuration Utility window, but please note that this may cause the issue to reoccur.
If you are able to isolate the issue to a particular third-party software, you may wish to contact them to let them know of the conflict.
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!
    Cheers,
    Braden

  • ITunes not updating any podcast, err = 404

just got back from weeklong vaca, immediately downloaded iTunes 8.1. 6 out of 8 podcasts have new episodes. 1 of them downloads correctly, every other one returns with "stopped (error = 404)" no matter how many times I try to refresh. deleted 8.1 and downloaded again with same problem. I deleted one subscription and re-subscribed only to find that I got the same message for new episodes as well as all previous episodes. Please Help.

Same issue here.  I was hoping to see an answer here about a know issue with podcasts not updating.  I am also having tons of issues with my iPhone 4S but am only told it is operator issue.  Funny thing is, my brother who was the head Mac Genius (back when they actually knew somethig) in one of the Austin stores said it is a software problem.  No one else will admit there are any problems with their software.

  • Err = -5000 Has anyone experienced this?

    Hi!
I have purchased 3 songs off iTunes but when it comes to download, I keep getting this message
"There were problems downloading some purchased items...

I took a snap shot of the message, Basically it says I need to check on my connection which is weird cause I am on the internet.

In the FCP Browser, click on the source clip that is showing up sized incorrectly to select it. Once it is selected, type Command + 9 to see the item properties for the clip. Either report those properties here, or take a screen shot of the item properties and post the screen shot here.
Next, click anywhere in your sequence timeline and then type Command + 0 {zero} to see your sequence settings. Either report those settings or take a screen shot of the sequence settings and post that screen shot here.

  • When I attempt to down load a song from my Itunes account I receive an error (err = -5000) "you do not have enough access privlages for this operation".

  • Downloading purchses say, "stopped (err=.5000)" How can I fix this?

This is the error message I recieve everytime I try to download my iTunes purchases. It says that I do not have access privileges for the operation and to check my connection to the network.
Occasionally cliking retry will eventually allow a song to download, but the majority of purchases have yet to reach my library.
The only help I could find with this problem is for Mac computers, whereas I have a Windows XP. I am hardly computer savvy enough to fix this problem myself, although I have tried removing and reinstalling iTunes with no improvement.
If anybody could please lend their assistance I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you for your time.

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Digital Copy err 5000

I am using Windows 7 and ITunes 10 and am attempting to load Lord of the rings Digital Copies. I receive the message, "you do not have enough access privileges" Here is a link someone else posted with the same issue on another movie: http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/7680/elierror.jpg
I am running as 'Administrator' and have gone into the folder/subfolders and changed permissions to 'full control.' Still having the problem. I also went into the ITunes Compatibility Tab and changed to 'Run as Administrator.'
    Any help would be appreciated

Transformers released in the UK last week and I too had problems downloading the digital copy that came with my blu ray, and today the same problem with the latest Harry Potter.
All other triple play blu rays I have bought have had the digital copy on one of the discs, but these two have to be downloaded via the itunes store.  The Transformers reached 164 Mb and failed with error 50, got it going again and it reached 1.54 Gb of 2.24 Gb, then error 50 and went back to only being 134 Mb downloaded.  Harry Potter has reached 1.20 Gb and error 50 occured - and it has taken 10 hours to reach that!
My broadband is capped at 5 Gb and above that usage I pay per Gb, the Transformers download actually used 3.2 Gb of that 5 Gb, and the Harry Potter has virtually used the rest so instead of being free with my blu ray, they have both cost me around £10 and my data downloads will be slowed down till the end of the month.  (My BB is linked to my work so it is difficult for me to move to an unlimited download provider).
Anyone any idea why this is happening?  Once I have managed to download I will complain to Apple as it is the iTunes download that is failing, but it is a bit daft that WB make you download rather than put the film on a disc.  And their help page is no use as you have to input the name of the film - and guess what, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 doesn't seem to exist, even though they have probably sold millions of copies since Friday.

  • Getting ERR 5000, ERR 9600 and ERR 3252

I am trying to download a TV episode from the ITunes store, but I keep getting these errors. It will say that something is wrong with the network connection but I am connected to the internet through an ethernet, and my connection is fine?
I tried deleting and reinstalling ITunes, and I deleted the download file of the episode in the ITunes Music folder and tried again, and its still not working.
I don't know a lot about computers, but I was hoping someone could help me?
    Thanks

Ensure that itunes.exe is allowed in your firewall. Even if it currently shows that it is allowed, delete it and then add it again.
If this doesn't solve the problem, then run the diagnostics from the Help menu (in itunes) and post the results.
    Good Luck

  • Stopped (err = -5000)

I am getting very tired of correcting this issue. Nothing but iTunes accesses the iTuneMusic folder, yet the permissions are randomly getting scrambled. The only conclusion is that iTunes is screwing around by changing the permissions on files and folders. I'd like to know why iTunes is making any changes to the file/folder permissions at all?
This is something that iTunes should not be touching. Unless iTunes has all of a sudden included Norton Tools or some other crappy utility in it, it should not be touching the permissions. Only the administrator of the machine should be changing the permissions, not a wanna-be application. Remove the **** code that is changing permissions as you obviously have no idea what you are doing.
P.S. The iTunesMusic folder is on a network share, and nothing else on that share is having this issue. Plus, do you think that you could run downloads in a seperate thread? It would be nice to be able to use iTunes while it is downloading and not have it freeze on you for up to 30 seconds every time a file has finished downloading.

  • Podcast download stopped with error -5000 in iTunes

I have been continually getting these "stopped (err = -5000)" errors whilst trying to download podcasts. Weird because I can connect to the iTunes Store.
Some research I've done suggests this is a permissions error. I have just installed Windows 7 Home Premium. I tried right clicking the iTunes media folder (that all downloaded content is stored) and changing the security settings to "all access" but nothing helped.
    Any other suggestions please?

Check this page: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1475 which has some information about error 5000.
As you say, it appears to be a permissions error. From that page I noticed that you need to check the permissions of all the folders inside the iTunes music folder.
If the folder structure is the same as Windows XP, then inside the iTunes Music folder will be a specific folder for Podcasts, called (unsurprisingly) Podcasts.
Post again in this thread with any success or failure. Good luck
    Phil

  • Says I don't have permission to listen to Podcasts

I'm the only user/ owner of my Mac and when I try to download podcasts a disclaimer saying "There was a problem downloading (podcast). You do not have enough access priveleges for this operation."
How do I get permission to use my own computer?

I happened to click the refresh button and it finally started trying to download, giving (err = -5000). Before this I would click the buttons and absolutely nothing would happen.
A search of support showed a page saying this could be related to permissions.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93069
I followed the instructions to reset permissions within get info, and then when I relaunched iTunes it started downloading like crazy.
My assumption is that some sub-folder got its permissions messed up. The permissions on the main directory were as they should've been.
