Podcast error -61

I download several podcasts every day. Suddenly none of my subscribed podcasts will download - they all give me the same error message: "stopped (err = -61)" What's up with that? Can anyone give me a clue?

Howzit Colin,
Actually I was hoping that they didn't end up in my iTunes Library! Why? Because when it's time to use your library to shuffle some music for your party that you're throwing. The last thing you need is an old Amy Goodman's podcast of "Demoracy Now", coming on after you just listened to U2!!! Or if I was still single I could see how that could really be a problem. Imagine Colin, you been working on this one chick for weeks, you have her over to your place. You want to set the mood for the evening so you put on iTunes, a couple of great songs come on to get the evening rolling. Then, just when you get to make your move. All of the sudden you hear ," This is TWIT, 'this week in tech episode 24 Sept 21 2005, and I'm Leo Laporte". Great podcast, and I love Leo Laporte, and what they are doing there. But there is a time and a place for everything, and when you're getting ready to walk off into the sunset with Buxom betty. That is not the time for 'twit', if you know what I mean? That's basically why I don't need them in my library.
But are you saying, if the blue dot isn't next to podcast, then it has been deleted from the library?
There must be an easier way than deleting them one by one?

  • Since I updated to ios 5.1.1 I'm getting " Unable to download podcast" error? Is there any fix for this?

How can I fix unable to download podcast error, even if I retry it gives me the same message with all the podcasts I have in my iPhone. How can I fix this?

Are you seeing the same message with Apple's Podcasts app? More info about the Podcasts app here -> About the Podcasts app for iOS
Is this happening with all podcasts? Maybe the server that hosts that podcast is down or it's having problems, try testing with one of the other top rated podcasts.

  • Podcast Error Message "The network connection could not be made."

For the past few days, the same 4 of my twenty or so podcasts have had an exclamation point next to them. When clicked, the subject message appears "The network connection could not be made.". I figured these may have been canceled since other podcasts I subscribe to downloaded without a problem. But now, when I go into the iTunes store and try to subscribe to new podcasts, they won't download. I do not get an error message. The download begins and abruptly ends before any data is received. I can subscribe but well, a lot of good that does when nothing comes. Any ideas would be a HUGE help. Oh & yes, my network connection is fine. At least I think it's fine. Everything else internet related is just dandy. Thanks!

I think there may be a networking problem with the specific podcast(s). I have a couple of these myself. It normally indicates I am not playing them on my iPod but sometimes (as now) there is an abnormal situation.
I know that some Internet links have not been working perfectly in the last week or so (and the Apple forums have also been slow perhaps due in part to this), but it might be an idea to track the source down, starting with the iTunes shop and resubscribe.
One I just checked has changed the feed and both are on the iTunes shop, so the first is showing the ! while the second works fine. The same is true for the second feed: although I am subscribed, a check of the originating website shows that the "File is not available."

  • Downloading podcast error message

I am unable to download any free podcasts. I subscribe successfully, but when I click "Get" a grey exclamation point appears immediately. The error message is "There was a problem downloading "the podcast" . The required folder cannot be found. Please check that the URL is correct and the connection to the network is active and try again."
I get this message everytime I attempt to download something on ITunes. I have disabled the firewall and pop up blockers. Nothing changes -- same error message. I use Mozilla Firefox as a browser.
    Any suggestions?

  • "Unable to Download Podcast" error after upgrade to iOS7 - iPhone 4S

    Hey all,
Since upgrading to iOS7 on my iPhone 4S, the Podcasts app is no longer able to download new Podcasts directly from the app. I keep getting the error "Unable to Download Podcast" with the option to Retry, which always fails. This happens on both 3G and WiFi This error applies to any of my Podcast subscriptions. It was working fine on iOS 6.1.3. I have tried deleting it and re-installing it. I've toggled the Podcast app Settings. I have an iPad 3 WiFi and I haven't had the issue.
Anyone else experiencing this? Anyone know how to fix it?
    Thanks,
    John

  • Cannot podcast error 3253 Air America

Podcasting from Air America used to work fine, for the past month however it has been nothing but trouble. Keep having to restart podcast download, getting error message 3253. Support at Air America is nonexistant (would not recomend subscribing to Air America Premium to anyone!!, programs are great but absolutely no tech support for programming that your PAYING FOR!) Have bypassed router to no avail, contacted internet provider (broadband), everything checked out. Problem has to be with I-tunes or Air America. Can't seem to find other people having this problem though. Please help!!! I'm about to crush my I-pod and say <edited by host> Air America too! I've had it!!

I have a premium subscription to Air America. My podcasts stopped coming through on January 11. You are right. Air America is no help whatsoever. They will not answer e-mails or have any support. I think I am going to go to the corporate site and lodge a complaint. Even if they do come through my missing podcasts are old and I want to listen to them in a timely manner. I also subscribe to two other podcasts with other entities and they have been coming through fine so I tend to believe it is Air America.

  • Error message when downloading podcasts (error-61) what does it mean?

I have been subscribed to several podcasts that I found on itunes. Some days they download perfectly, and some days I get the error message: "error-61". How do I find out what this error means and fix the problem?

This forum is for questions from those managing sites on iTunes U, Apple's service for colleges and universities to post educational material in the iTunes Store. You'll be most likely to get help with this issue if you ask in the general iTunes forums.

  • Email from Apple states there is a podcast error but gives no specifics. The feed validates and follows all Apple podcast spesifications.

I require information about an apparent error with my podcast feed.
I have tried numerous times to submit a podcast to Apple iTunes. There is no issue with the XML feed. It validates in both the W3C validator and the iTunes reccomended validation service.
The submision process works through iTunes without problem. However I keep receiving these email reposnes from Apple:
    Dear podcast owner,
An error was encountered while trying to add your feed, [ http://feeds.mhpn.org.au/feeds/webinarsrss.aspx ].
Please correct the error and submit your feed again. For additional information, please consult the podcast FAQ at http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/faq.html and technical specification at http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/techspecs.html.
    Sincerely,
    The iTunes Store team
This email from Apple is generic and does not clarify what the error is nor how I can correct it.
I just spent over an hour and a half on the phone with Apple support. Was bumped to three consultants and two senior consultants who could not give me any information. The last senior consulatnt told me to try this forum.
    Would appreciate any assistance/advice.
    Thank you kindly.

iTunes Support won't help you diagnose problems in your feed. The feed validates in FeedValidator, and can be subscribed to manually in iTunes.
However, it's lacking what should be the first line:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
Also, the '.aspx' extension may be causing problems - this method of constructing and accessing feeds (which I don't know anything about) may not work in the Store (which is a quite different matter from the iTunes application, which is more robust). A direct link to the file, with the .xml extension, would be better.
Though it's not a fatal error, your feed is lacking the 'itunes:duration' tag - its absence may be an issue in the Store (certainly it is when people put it as 1 second, for example).
Otherwise the feed seems to be OK, but it's badly laid out which, though that shouldn't affect its usability, makes it difficult to look at for problems.
However there may be an issue with the actual media files. It's a requirement for the Store that the server can handle 'byte range requests': this is the method used by iPhones, consisting of requesting part of the file at a time rather than the entire file. The Terminal test for this shows this isn't working:
    curl -I -r 200-300 http://feeds.mhpn.org.au/uploads/audio/MHPN_13_MAY_2013_RB.mp3
HTTP/1.1 416 Requested Range Not Satisfiable
    Content-Length: 71741479
    Content-Type: audio/mpeg
    Last-Modified: Thu, 05 Sep 2013 10:27:49 GMT
    Accept-Ranges: bytes
    ETag: "69a1d79122aace1:0"
    Server: Microsoft-IIS/7.5
    X-Powered-By: ASP.NET
    Date: Mon, 21 Oct 2013 06:47:36 GMT
    Content-Range: bytes */0
That is likely to get you rejected, though in that case they were originally saying so in the rejection notice (normally they don't give any reason) - they may have stopped doing that. In order to deal with that you will have either to get the server sorted out or find a server which can handle it.

  • Podcast error message help on iTunes

For some reason, my podcast comes up with an error message on iTunes when I try to submit it.  Any ideas will be much appreciated. Here is the feed: http://feeds.feedburner.com/culturechallenged/podcasts1

Your media file has the .mp3 extension but is in fact an AAC file and should have the extension .m4a. As a result it will not play in iTunes.
You need to rename the file with the .m4a extension and amend the feed accordingly. Presumably WordPress will amend the 'type' attribute automatically - it should read 'audio/x-m4a'.
You have an 'image' tag but not the 'itunes:image' tag required to show your image in the Store. This shouldn't prevent your feed from being accepted but if you add this tag the image must be jpg or png, 1400 x 1400 px and less than 500k or it will be rejected.

  • Submitting a podcast ERROR 11111

I have been trying to submit my podcast for two days now and continue to get the error 11111. I have quit itunes and reopened and resubmitted, tried different computers. Changed the podcast name and republished and resubmitted, but nothing seems to work. I have verified the feed works using feedvaladator.com and Im still getting the error. I have tried some of the links listed in other forums for the same issue but to no avail. I have also take the http:// off of the front of the feed and still continue to get the error. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi have been looking at dropbox do you think that this answer below would work??
Force a file or folder to download
Using the new direct link above, you can further modify the URL to force the browser to download the file, rather than handle it natively. To force a file download, append a direct link with ?dl=1. For example:
    https://dl.dropbox.com/s/xttkmuvu7hh72vu/MyFile.pdf
(Note that the URL begins with dl.dropbox.com, as instructed in the section above.)
    Becomes:
    https://dl.dropbox.com/s/xttkmuvu7hh72vu/MyFile.pdf?dl=1
Enter the new URL in the address field of your browser and it should automatically download, instead of open, the file.
    Public folder links
Accounts created before July 31st, 2012 are pre-populated with a Public folder. All the functionality of Public folders (and more) is available from anywhere in your Dropbox by creating a Dropbox link.
The primary difference between Dropbox links and Public links are that unmodified Public links will render in your browser by default rather than open in a preview window on the Dropbox website. If you would rather force the Public link to directly download rather than render in the browser, add ?dl=1 to the end of the URL, as described above.

  • Podcast error 9006

    Hello,
A while back a bunch of my listeners were having problems downloading my show from iTunes.   The issue eventually resolved and now I am having a new problem.  Certain shows will not download, people are getting a 9006 error.  I have deleted the show and reuploaded it, I have tried to resync the rest feed, I have no idea what the issue is.  They are claiming that the last 3 shows are not downloading properly but the rest of the shows are.  I have done nothing different, no settings have been changed.  Idk if it is something with Filezilla or itunes.  The weird thing is, the show downloads completely in other podcast apps.  A weirder thing is that the show is 145 minutes and though apps like downcast and pocket casts downloads the full show the direct link only plays up to an hour.
Some people have had success on iTunes when they re-download it 3 times or more but this is really frustrating.  Any help would be great.  BTW I am not computer say whatsoever,  so bear with me.

First off, your feed has no 'itunes:duration' tags. This in itself isn't causing problems, but it means that the Store does not know how long the file is, and when subscribing iTunes doesn't know until you start playing it. The tag takes the form
    <itunes:duration>DURATION H:MM:SS</itunes:duration>
    e.g. <itunes:duration>01.45.04</itunes:duration>
I don't know whether this may cause problems with iPhones - I don't have one so I can't check it.
I subscribed to your podcast: the top episode started to download and then half way through stopped with an error message. I was able to click the download icon and get the rest of it down, and it then played OK.
I tried playing another episode from the Store page and was able to check it at several points.
I downloaded the top episode in a browser without problems, but the next episode down failed to complete and stopped abruptly at around 1 hour 20 when played; the file size also showed it was not complete.
This means that your server is dropping the connection randomly when serving downloads, and it's something you will need to take up with the people running it.

  • Downloading Podcasts (error -39)

    Hi all
I've just recently installed iTunes onto a windows Vista Home Premium laptop, but I've recently been getting error -39 when I try to download my free podcasts.
    Any ideas?
    Craig

I had the same issue. I went into the Music/Download folder, deleted all the temp files there. Tried again and a few would download but i would keep getting the same error on allot of them. Deleted the temp files again and this time checked off the "Allow Simultaneous Downloads" button. Now it's been working fine for more than 2 weeks now and have not seen the error message again.

  • Not valid Podcast error on iTunes but downloadable on iPhone

I am getting a weird podcast problem.
in iTunes for Windows, several of my podcast subscription is showing with a exclamation mark button.
One example is my subscription to "TF1 - JT de 20H".
When I click on the exclamation mark button, it pops: "TF1 - JT de 20H" does not seem to be a valid Podcast URL. Please check that you have entered the correct URL.
when I search in iTunes Store, the podcast is there.
I tried soling this several ways. I went so far as to delete all old TF1 podcast then doing a new subscription.
I get an empty Podcast item in my podcast list with the same error message.
But the best is: if I use the button "get more episodes" on my iPhone I can get the latest podcast from TF1.
is there something I can do to fix this?

    Hi Roger,
    thanks for the post.
I am not the owner but a faithful listener.
The TF1 JT the 20h Podcast always contain only 1 item in it.
It is not customary but this is the way this Podcast has always been.
    in iTunes:
When I right click on this Podcast in iTunes and request "Copy Podcast URL" I get this:
    http://www.tf1.fr/xml/rss/0,,205,00.xml
which is exactly what you posted.
but the exclamation mark with a circle is still there.
and it does say: "TF1 - JT de 20H" does not seem to be a valid Podcast URL.
about the iPhone: is it possible that the iTunes for iPhone uses a different feed as iTunes for windows for the same podcast?
    one last check:
Am I posting in the wrong discussion group?
if this is only meant for Podcast owner, I apologize for the confusion.
    regards
