Podcast Feed Error Message "We Require that feeds include a title"

I am attempting to submit podcasts to the itunes directory and I get the following error message when I provide my Podcast Feed URL.
"We Require that feeds include a title"
My Podcast URL:
http://web.me.com/tommyboltz/TomorrowsSports_Page_Today/Daily_SportsPicks/rss.xml
I tested this URL by going to ADVANCED on the itunes menu and it worked fine.
PLease help. I want my Podcast to show up in the itunes store.

Yep, there is something missing there, but perhaps it is because you have entered the same data twice (or in the wrong place).
If you look at a Feed, for example in Safari, there is a line at the top which is (of course) a title. I have one at feed://www.extensions.in.th/ext_link.xml and when you link to that, you get "Macs in Bangkok - Information" on the top line. This information is entered in the "Channel" section, and I have <title>eXtensions: Macs in Bangkok - Information</title>
What I see with your however, is "feed://www.blacklightaudio.com/Site/Podcast/rss.xml" instead of descriptive information. If you go back into the application you created it in (or even a text editor) you will see the relevant line.

As an additional point, I see that the links themselves within each item are not right. They show with a % sign between the parts, which I am pretty sure is an indication that there are spaces that should not exist.

Receiving Podcast app error message anyone getting that after the 7.0 ios download?

I called Apple Care last night.  The default setting on Podcast App is to require download via the phone not sync.
You have to change your setting on the iPhone in 3 places:
    1.  Settings - ITunes & App Store - Ensure "Automatic Downloads" is on for all items (note that my cellular data is off for iTunes)
    2. Podcast App - go to the settings of each Podcast (tap Podcast - settings) ensure the following settings
         a.  Refresh Podcast  - not set to manually - mine is set at "every 6 hours"
         b. Auto-Downloads - not set to off - mine is set to "most recent"
If you syncing with a Mac, what Apple explains happens is that you sync with iTunes on the Mac, then the iPhone will automatically download over my wireless connection.
Please note that if you are using cellular data for Podcast App - this might not be a solution for you.

  • Podcast Submitting Error "We Require That Feeds Include a Title"

    Can someone please help me...
I have recently created a Podcast in GarageBand, which I have shared to iWeb to be included in my website. I don't have a .Mac Account, so publish the site to folder which I then upload to my ftp.
When you view the site, www.blacklightaudio.com you can subscribe to the Podcast without problem, iTunes opens and the episodes download. However, I am under the impression (quote me if I am wrong) that I need to submit the podcast for inclusion in iTunes. I therefore go to iTunes, online store, submit podcast.
I enter the url www.blacklightaudio.com/Site/Podcast/rss.xml and get the following error, "We Require That Feeds Include a Title".... Keeping this in mind I thought that there might be a problem with the /rss.xml file, therefore I manually changed this to /blacklightaudio.xml but I still get the same problem.
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?
    Many thanks in advance.

  • Atom feed error message

I have a Mac Book Pro which I have just received and installed ilife 09 and 10.5.6.
I have two accounts on this computer, one for myself and one for my wife.
    We both have .mac accounts.
When I subscribe to my mobile me gallery iphoto starts up and creates a new subscription folder and all is working fine.
When I log out of my account and use my wifes account to do the same thing I get an error message about an atom feed.
    Can anyone help??
    Many thanks in advance!!

I have the same error when I post my pictures to the ME gallery with iPhoto '09. If you take a look at the link that it is pointing to when you subscribe to the gallery on the other Mac, you will see that it points to the mac.com domain, if you change that to the me.com domain it resolves the issue and lets you subscrive without the error. I have not found a permanent solution to this and will need to contact Apple to see if they have one.

  • "We require that feeds include a title"

I recently tried to submit a podcast to the iTunes store, but was rejected during the first step. Where it asks for the feed url, I put it in, feed://web.mac.com/rafaelsands/GreatCommercials_Podcast/Great_CommercialsPodcast/rss.xml but it said +"We require that feeds include a title."+ When I do it through the advanced menu though, it works fine. All I did was make it in Garageband and published it in iWeb. Did I have to run t through some other program first? I don't know what it means when it says "title".
Thanks for all the generous help-
    Rafael Sands

Sorry man, tried the submit podcast to iTunes. Yes it worked, but I would still like to have an iTunes page so more people can find my podcast on the web. I also used the "inspector" to create my entire iWeb site.
The Deal: We create a podcast using Garageband, and want to publish it. It should usually save as m4a if you create chapters and all. I don't know a podcast site that supports m4a, so I use iWeb to create my own web page. m4a is the best way to create a long music podcast, if you can get really good at it.
The Problem: We complete our podcast, design our entire iWeb site. and add our podcast to the web. Works great with m4a, except, when everything is complete, it usually takes iTunes a few days to register your account and give you an iTunes page. If your in a hurry, go to the store, submit a podcast, and enter you RSS feed. located on your page by hovering over the "Subscribe" to your podcast logo. If you enter this into the iTunes page, and everything works, then congratulations, you have completed everything correct. Although if you get a phrase in red "We require that feeds include a title". you have made a mistake.
The Solution: On your podcast page in iWeb, where you entered the extremely wide photo, there is or was a text box. This is where you need to enter your title, It's the most simple thing in the world. Just add your title in and it will recognize everything from that picture as your display pic, and the artist you added in through "Inspector".

The answer is in the guide, please read it carefully:

You can turn on extreme debugging as well. The problem is always with the publisher failing to follow specs; inform them to do so.

  • I am trying to authorize my computer and I get an error message: The required directory was not found or has a permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permissions cannot be changed. Help?

I am trying to authorize my computer and I get an error message: The required directory was not found or has a permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permissions cannot be changed. Help?

I used Terminal to change the permissions on the folder in question.  I followed the instructions in this article:
iTunes: Missing folder or incorrect permissions may prevent authorization
In my case, the folder was there, so I needed the command to change permissions on the folder, not to create one.   I was hesitant to use Terminal b/c I know that if I made an error I could wipe out my hard drive or render my computer unusable.  So to be SURE I didn't make an error, I carefully copied the command from that page and *pasted* it into Terminal.  Also, before I could do anything in Terminal, I had to go change my admin password (it had been a blank password before and that's not acceptable for making changes in Terminal).  I was just super careful when entering my password or doing anything else while Terminal was open (making sure I didn't accidently hit the spacebar or another key, etc.)  And it fixed the problem right away.
What was confusing for me was that the iTunes error message said to change permissions in the FINDER, which is what I was trying to do.  It didn't mention Terminal.  What would really be helpful is if Apple included a link to a page like this in their error message.

  • I have been using itunes on my windows based pc for years but since installing the latest itunes update I have been getting the error message A required itunes component is not installed. Please reinstall itunes. (-42404)

I have been using itunes on my windows 64 bit laptop for years but since downloading the latest itunes 10.7 update whenever I opened itunes the error message 'A required itunes component is not installed. Please reinstall itunes (-42404)'
Itunes would still load and play music in my library and I could still sync my ipod but when loading a CD itunes would not recognise the album/tracks and I would need to type them manualing after uploading.
I have just bought the new iphone5 and went to sync the phone with itunes. itunes recognises the iphone when plugged in via the usb port or when wi fi is turned on but itunes will not allow the phone to sync.
I spent over an hour the other morning speaking to apple customer support and have ensured I have administer right and that UAC is turned off.
I was taken through msconfigure and adjusted the startup tab but still no joy.
In the end I was e-mailed instructions on how to uninstall and then reinstall itunes and component parts.
Now that I've uninstalled itunes when I try reinstalling I get the following messages during the download.
    The 1st message is;
'The installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application  Support\Web kit.resources\inspector\Images\Spinner Inactive Selected.gif.'
    When I click ok the next message that appears sometime later during the install is;
Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) Failed to start Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
The options I have are to abort, retry or ignore. If I retry the same message comes back and if I  abort or ignore the download continues and I then get the following message:
'Apple Application Support was not found. Apple Application Support is required to run itunes Helper. Please uninstall itunes, then reinstall itunes again. Error 2'
After attempting to reinstall itunes only some components were installed however itunes would not open.
It would appear many people have experienced problems with this latest download!

'The installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\Web kit.resources\inspector\Images\Spinner Inactive Selected.gif.'
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • I have created PDF from hardcopy by using my scanner. After I run OCR option for my PDF by using Acrobat Pro 9. But "Text-to-speech" functionality of the PDF says that an error message comes up that says the page is empty when I turns on the read out loud

I have created PDF from hardcopy by using my scanner. After I run OCR option for my PDF by using Acrobat Pro 9. But "Text-to-speech" functionality of the PDF says that an error message comes up that says the page is empty when I turns on the read out loud option in Acrobat. Kindly help me to sortout this problems?

So I tried generating the same PDFs on two other computers that have Acrobat 9 Pro.  Results were reproduced.  The verdict is:
    - complex PDF files (that is, containing cross-references, tables of contents, and bookmarks) generated by Acrobat 9.x Pro are roughly 2-5x larger than the identical file generated with Acrobat 8.x Pro.
    - different PDF conversion settings make a negligable difference (less than 10% rather than 70-80%).
    - using the "Reduce File Size" or "Optimize PDF" option cuts the file size roughly in half, almost always resulting in a "image downsampling mask" warning message, which requires acknowledgement (that is a problem for batch processing or automation).
    - adding an Acrobat watermark to the file cuts the file size roughly in half.
    - just using Save As to another filename has no effect on file size.
    - generating the PDF in Acrobat 9 with links but no PDF bookmarks still results in the inflated file size.
    - generating the PDF in Acrobat 9 without any links or bookmarks results in approximately the same file size as the Acrobat 8 PDF with full links and bookmarks.
It appears that Acrobat 9's manner of adding links is what's bloating  the files, and in my case it's probably not related to images or image resolution/print quality.  It's a shame, because Acrobat 9 seems to have made some  improvements to the Review Tracker interface, and a few other bells and  whistles which I haven't really gotten around to exporing yet.  But  unless I find a way to keep my links and the PDF file sizes comparable to what I was  getting with Acrobat 8 Pro, it looks like I'm going to stay with Acrobat 8.

  • Error message: "Missing required plugins" - Illustrator CS3 will not load

I am running CS3 Web Prem on Vista, dual core Athlon with 2g Ram.
Illustrator has stopped working - gives error message: "Missing required plugins. Pathfinder Suite." Or it says "Missing required plugins. ArtConverters.aip PDFformat.aip Pathfinder suite.aip Rasterize.aip"
I have tried the suggestions from knowledge base article - I have tried deleting AIprefs; I have also tried in new user account - initially worked but not on opening program a second time. I have also re-installed Illustrator.
    Any other solutions?

    Glad to hear it.
Not sure what possible nuances to performance or memory management there may be to running in compatibility mode. Since I can't run in any other mode, it is hard to make a comparison.
It seems to run fine though, for me.
There should be a Windows Update that came out in the last day or so that is supposed to address this issue (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947562). At least thats what it says.
BUT, after that fiasco with SP1, I am real reluctant to do any more updates.
SP1 toasted my ability to connect with network resources, external and some internal hard drives, ALL my USB equipment failed to connect anymore. I removed SP1 (uninstalled it per the instructions on the MS KB) but that process trashed the OS and required a complete clean re-install of Vista. A week later I am pretty much back to where I should be (see, my system backups were with SP1. Brilliant, eh?).
Still have to run many so-called "Vista Compatible" applications in this compatability mode though.

Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes &amp; related installer files:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

Just wondering because I know there were going to be some changes as they completely move MobileMe over to iCloud and drop the "extra" services. If you really want to roll back to 11.4 uninstall all iTunes/Apple components as described in the second box, restore the pre-upgrade version of the library as described in Empty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash, then download and install from one of these direct links:
