Podcast Feed Showing Up as Blank Icon

Can someone help me troubleshoot why I cannot get my icon to appear in iTunes?
Below are the links to my show and the feedburner feed:

Thank you,
Dave

You have no image referenced in your feed. You need an 'itunes:image' containing the URL of your image (which should be 1400 x 1400 px). You should be able to add this either in WordPress or in Feedburner, but I can't advise on the specifics.
Apparently you originally titled this thread to ask about your podcast not updating - if you are still concerned about that, your latest episode was posted only today and it's quite usual for it to take 1-2 days for new episodes to appear in the Store. Subscribers see it immediately.

  • HT1819 Why doesn't my podcast feed show up in iTunes?

Our podcast used to be listed in iTunes. A couple of months ago our hosting service expired and I began recieving word from listeners that the podcast was no longer available. We've resumed our hosting service but the podcast is now missing from the iTunes store. If I try to resubmit it, the store tells me the feed has already been submitted. How can I fix this issue?
    the feed in question is:

  • Podcast feed image doesn't show up

    Hi,
I have two separate podcast image issues here:
    1. I can't get the feed image of a new podcast to show up at all. The podcast has been showing up for a while now. How long does it take for the feed image to show up? Is there no maximum size for feed images now? There used to be, but I don't see a size limit anymore, only a suggestion that the image should be square, which this one is. Here is the .rss feed in question:
    http://christiantelevisionbroadcasting.com/rss/crosstalk.rss
    2. I have a podcast that's been listed here on iTunes since 2005, when iTunes first started listing podcasts. I noticed recently that this podcast no longer shows up in the featured podcasts, even though it's popular, and certainly one of the oldest continuing podcasts on iTunes. The podcast (Axis Coffee House) shows up near the top of the list when you search the podcasts for "praise" or "Texas Baptist" and then sort by popularity. If you click on "see all" to look at the list of image icons, the Axis podcast doesn't show up at all anymore. I suspect there may be something wrong with the feed image which prevents it from showing up in the graphical listing? Here is the .rss feed in question:
    http://www.ReluctantRadio.org/axis.rss
    Thanks for your help... (smile)
    Scott

sadly, we podcast creators have no way of controlling what is a featured podcast. This is something that the iTunes staff picks and chooses...here's a snippet from the spec:
"Getting Featured on the iTunes Home Page
At iTunes, we’re constantly on the lookout for podcasts that are breaking new ground with this medium, have new or unusual content, or just capture our interest. When we find them, we like to feature them on the Podcasts home page. While there are no sure-fire ways to get your podcast featured (and no, we do not accept payments for promotion), there are some minimum requirements."
The popularity meter in iTunes for podcasts is pretty useless and is in not really reflective of how popular your feed really is. It's merely a gauge as to how frequently people have subscribed to the feed with itunes. It doesn't take into account people that have subscribed via direct link, manually subscribed, or subscribed using other feed readers/podcatchers.
Feed validator is still coughing up some errors. You missing GUID's for your items as well. The GUID can be anything as long as it's unique throughout the xml. Often times just using the same url as the enclosure does the trick.
The iTunes podcast directory is also very clunky and has quite a lot of holes...some feeds are listed in categories they don't belong in, some are listed when searching but not browsing, all sorts of strange behavior. So there may not be anything wrong with your feed that is causing it not to show up....just a clunky database.

  • Latest ep of my podcast doesn't show in iTunes. Subscribers CAN download it. Podcast page shows 'Total: 3 items' but lists only items 2 and 3. RSS feed is validated and fine.

Latest ep of my podcast doesn't show in iTunes store. Subscribers CAN download it. Podcast page shows 'Total: 3 items' but lists only items 2 and 3. RSS feed is validated and fine. How do I get iTunes to display it?

I've used Feedburner many times and never had such a problem. I am a bit confused, forgive me if I ask for questions already answerd. Have you tried updating the podcast in someone elses copy of iTunes? My guess is that the file is bad since it is working in other programs but not iTunes. I would try making a new .mp4 file and podcasting it and seeing if that works.
    Good luck!

  • Podcast Videocast/ Audio only not showing up in itunes podcast feed

Hi Everyone, I work on a site called Truthdig and we can't get our latest audio (mp3) only podcast to show up in our itunes podcast feed, latest podcast episodes have been video. is this what is causing the problem? Could it be something else? Advice? Wisdom? Please help.

FYI, your link to your podcast in iTunes is wrong, it should be
    http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=299750047
Your feed validates, and I can't see anything wrong with it. Plainly the iTunes Store is failing to pick it up: it's been known for the Store not to be happy with feed URLs with a '?' in them, but presumably you haven't changed the feed URL since the original episode?
I can only suggest you approach Support:

hi, i am having a problem in my ipad 2 , it is not showing main screen just showing a black blank screen in which downloading icon is only shwn which is continously and when i connect to itunes via windows 7 it showing this error (0xE8000065) can any one

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

  • Pictures Showing As Blank Icons

I have recently upgraded to Mac OS X Snow Leopard and since doing so some of my pictures in iPhoto no longer show as pictures but blank icons. If I click on the picture it then does come up with the actual picture but again, when I close this down it goes back to being a blank icon?
    Any help?

It can take several goes to rebuild those thumbnails. IF that fails: Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    Regards
    TD

  • Dock/Cmd+Tab Icons shows up as blank

Recently all icons relating to webkit (chromium, safari, mailplane, fluid, even pages (not sure if it relates to webkit though..)) shows up as blank in the dock and cmd+tab boxes, however they show up just fine in the applications folder. very odd behaviour.
any ideas what might be causing this?
    screenshot http://bit.ly/bcG9b0

Simply, removing the concerned applications and re-adding them to the dock, reseted the icons. Duuh.

  • How I show more episodes on my podcast feed?

My podcast feed (http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/inside-the-phoenix/id502305447) only displays 20 episodes.  What do I need to do to expand it to display 35 episodes?

No, the point is you may be trying to find a feature that doesn't exist. Mail has infinite scroll in the message list so adjusting the number of emails to display makes no sense.
Once again, can you point me to where you say Apple tells you to adjust the number of emails?

  • My illustrator CS3 saved file icon shows as a blank white square?

This is really odd. I store all my AI files in one folder. When I first open the folder, the lovely orange AI icons representing each file all change to white squares (actually they're in portrait or landscape view depending on how the file was saved). If I then drag one of these white .ai files onto the desktop, the icon very briefly appears again then changes back to the white square. Same thing happens when I drag the file back into its folder. The files open and close normally, and save normally. If I do a 'get info' on them they show up as normal .ai files. It seems as if something is 'overriding' the icon. My old illustrator CS files all show the old CS icon. I know it's not an earth-shattering problem, but I'd really like to solve it. Can you help?

    Hi Simon,
First, "Get Info" on your Illustrator application. If it's not named "Illustrator.app", add the ".app" to the name.
If that doesn't solve it, it's probably be a LaunchServices issue. Rebuild your LaunchServices database, either with OnyX orLaunch /Utilities/Terminal and copy & paste this at the command line:
    Code:
    <pre class="alt2" style="margin:0px; padding:3px; border:1px inset; width:640px; height:34px; overflow:auto">/System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/\Frameworks/LaunchServi ces.framework/Support/lsregister \-kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user</pre>
Then press return. After that, log out and back in or restart. Let us know

  • While working on FCPX project, power failed. Power on, restarted, opened FC, Project Library shows blank icon, no clips. Click on icon, nothing happens. Haven't done back-up. Can project be recovered?

While working on a FXPX project, there was a power failure. Power back on, restarted FCPX, project name in Project Library is a blank icon, nothing happens when I click on it. Believing back ups were automatic and continuous, I made no back up. Can the project be recovered?

Years of fine internet use via WIFI then randomly it starts dropping then one day (weeks later) it is no longer accessible at all and even saying "No hardware installed" when I click on WIFI icon at the top right on screen. Here is how I finally fixed it!:
For six months I wallowed in this problem and had to connect my macbook pro to the internet via ethernet cable which as you can image was very restrictive :/
I have had numerous laptop technicans befuddled by this WIFI problem and most concluding with how my WIFI card must be broken and that I will need to buy a new one. The last suggestion I had on the matter was to buy a USB wifi dongle.
So I ended up buying this one, http://www.asus.com/nz/Networking/USBN10_NANO/Unfortunately my macbook pro didn't want to read the install disc and it didn't autorun so it didn't work. After reading more forums I saw that you could download the program from the net and sure enough it worked.. BUT STRANGER when I took the USB dongle out the WIFI was still working!! The program appears to have reminded my four year old macbook pro that it is indeed WIFI capable.
So to find this miraculous program its located herehttp://www.asus.com/nz/Networking/USBN10_NANO/HelpDesk_Download/
Same link as above just under SUPPORT>Driver&Tools
You then click on a file when its downloaded and a file called MAC will appear, then click on install. Within 5 minutes you should have your WIFI back. My macbook pro crashed again today but without having to get the shortest ethernet cable you've ever seen out again - I was able to install the program again and WIFI was up and running once more. Moral of the story - didn't need to spend any money to fix this and not even using the USB dongle.
So happy!! Hope it works for you too!
This also worked on a MacBook that lost its WIFI when a user accounts password was changed and the keychain password wasn't known to them - another random way to lose WIFI apparently

  • Podcast not showing up in itunes search after 1 week

i submitted my podcast with one episode and it was accepted on 17 july. i am able to get to it in the itunes store by using the url as provided in the email.
    iTunes Store Welcome
    Dear Podcast Owner
Your podcast, located at [ http://feeds.feedburner.com/meterdown ], has been approved. You should expect to see it in iTunes within the next few hours. When it's available, you will be able to access it with the URL below.
    http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=260194221
i have put an icon with that url in my blog (meterdown.wordpress.com) and that works fine. people are taken to the podcast in the itunes store and can subscribe.
however when i search the store, my podcast is not turning up either by podcast name (meter down) or by author/artist name (kabi) or by keyword (taxi, bombay, hindi).
I can ping using the podcast ID (id=nnn) and it returns the podcast feed url (http://feeds.feedburner.com/meterdown) and the podcast ID.
it doesn't list an episode however. is it supposed to?
my main question is "why am i not showing up in the search?"
is there something wrong in my xml? I host at switchpod and run it thru feedburner and I use the feedburner feed.
i have read and read the forums here, feedburner, podcast alley and also am emailing switchpod support. still can't figure it out.
    thanks

    ssukotto,
Thanks for the information. What you mention is boilerplate that is automatically sent when a new podcast is approved. I also quoted it like scripture before diving deeper into researching this issue.
The research into this problem suggests that there is a minimum number of podcasts in order to be included in the search index (or at least the search results) whether it's undocumented or unintentional.
Case in point, Meter Down posted his first complaint that his podcast hadn't shown up in the search even after a week (far outside the 24-48 hours you mention and that is documented)..that was a week ago. A total of at least two weeks that his podcast could not be found by searching by the exact title. His podcast showed up search within a day after adding his second episode (yesterday).
Jerry Pine posted July 17 that his podcast "Everything Algae" had been approved July 13 but couldn't be found by searching...even by name. July 28th, he added a second episode as a test...and his podcast became searchable.
There are several others who went for days or weeks without being listed in search results by even searching for their exact podcast title...common trait between all of them was that they only had one episode. They added a second episode and within the day they show up in search results.
There are others that had newly submitted podcasts whose podcasts showed up within the 24-48 hours timeframe...but they had at least two episodes.
I'm just providing the facts...could be coincidence that they just happened to be searchable just after posting a second episode.
I'd invite you to read through and share with the iTunes podcast developers the several thread from various people who have reported problems with having a searchable podcasts and draw your own conclusions.

  • Favorite Podcasts not showing artwork

In the My Favorite Podcast, the Artwork is not showing, just the generic image. How can I get them back without have remove them all from my favorite list and re-adding them.

Same issue here. It happened a couple of weeks ago and I removed them and then had to go find them all again. I also have one that when clicked on says "The item you have requested is not available". So I am unable to remove this blank image from my Favorites. I think this is a serious bug. I hope Apple will bring a fix. I sure do not want to do a factory reset and sync all my stuff again just to remove this blank icon that leads no where. If anyone finds a fix other than starting over please let me know.

  • Podcast feed not working in iTunes

    Hi there,
I am trying to get a podcast feed for a client set up to work in iTunes. About the setup:
This is a self-hosted wordpress site, using the feedburner/SmartCast to create iTunes-friendly feeds. The site does use HTTPS as parts of it handle credit card processing.
Here is the feed XML (Chrome): view-source:http://feeds.feedburner.com/UnderTenFitness
Here is the feed link: http://feeds.feedburner.com/UnderTenFitness
The feed validates at http://castfeedvalidator.com/ and http://validator.w3.org/. Other podcast services pick it up just fine. Just iTunes. I've tried testing it by manually subscribing to it in iTunes, and the episodes/meta load fine, but the audio files neither play nor download. I also can't seem to find any kind of error message to describe what the hold up seems to be - just the ! next to the episode. I can briefly see a window that says "Connecting" but it dies right away.
Any insight into what's going wrong here would be much appreciated. I've added MIME types to the server for MP3 files, about to change the main icon from PNG to JPEG on some random recommendation that sometimes iTunes doesn't like PNG files.
    I've also tried:
taking the media link outside the audio player shortcode and just putting it in as href
using both http:// and https:// for the media link
I'm sure I've missed something basic here - but my experience with podcasting prior to this project was "I like to listen to them." So any suggestions appreciated.
    Regards,
    Hannah

The problem lies with the media files rather than the feed. The URL given for your top media file is
    http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/UnderTenFitness/~5/cn0Ui9M2FyI/2015-01-27-Psorias is-Natural-Remedies.mp3
    This redirects to
    https://www.undertenfitness.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/2015-01-27-Psoriasis- Natural-Remedies.mp3
The first URL works when you enter it in a browser, but on subscribing iTunes refuses to play it. These redirects using Feedproxy can cause problems, though they don't always, and frankly I would advise avoiding its use and providing a direct URL to the media file. Furthermore the URL for the actual file begins with https (secure connection) and this is also asking for trouble. Sometimes it works, but it's better avoided. Just removing the 's' so that it's http works with some servers but it appears not to hear. So you need to look into the matter of hosting your media files.

  • How do I get more than 3 episodes to display in my podcast feed?

    Hi there!
I'm having trouble displaying more than 3 episodes in my iTunes podcast feed. It seems like every time I add a new one, the 4th one drops off. How can I fix this?
    Podcast: Go Fire Yourself
    Feedburner feed: http://feeds.feedburner.com/gofireyourself
    Wordpress feed: http://www.gofireyourself.com/feed/
    Thanks so much in advance!!
    Laurel

In common with many podcast creation facilities, WordPress limits the number of episodes in the feed, removing older ones to an archive page and off the feed once the limit is reached. In your case it is limiting it to ten - there are ten episodes in the feed. However only four of them have playable media. iTunes does not show episodes which have no playable media, and so is showing only the four episodes when subscribing.
This is what happens when you mix podcast and weblog episodes - ones with and without playable media. There is presumably a setting in WordPress where you can increase the number of episodes shown, but of course you will still find fewer episodes in iTunes because of this.
