Podcast folder

HOw come my podcasts don't appear in the podcast folder on my iPOd? I have to go trough "recently added" to get them.

Here's what worked for me:
open iTunes
connect iPod
select iPod under Devices
click Podcasts tab
check the sync box
If your sync box was already checked, I don't know what the problem is. Good luck.

  • Podcasts not syncing to Podcasts folder on ipod 80gb

I have subscribed to 6 podcasts and they do sync to my ipod but they go into the Music folder rather than the Podcast folder. How do I get them to sync into the Podcast folder going forward, and how do I get them out of my music folder. I thought Apple was suppose to have intuitive software and hardware, but this ipod is a ***** to figure out. I love it, but the documentation *****.

Thanks for your response. I had added them all as Subscriptions from itunes, so that didn't seem to be the problem. In the time between posting my question and your reply, I was able to get the Podcasts into my Podcast folder on my ipod, but they are still appearing on the Music folder also, even though they do not appear in my iTunes library. I assume that I'll have to erase everything on my ipod and reload to get them out of my Music list unless anyone knows how to delete items from the ipod one at a time.Very frustrated.

  • Podcasts won't go to podcasts folder on iPod

I downloaded podcasts and updated my 4G iPod nano. But the podcast folder on the iPod is empty. The podcasts are listed in the music/songs folder.
In my iTunes library, podcasts are in the podcasts folder. Any ideas?

I was having the same problem. Try this -- connect your iPod to your computer. Start up iTunes to update. When you highlight your iPod in the new iTunes you get a menu that lets you manage the different segments of your iPod. Select podcasts and see which podcasts you have checked. You want to sync all the podcasts or your selected podcasts (otherwise mine were just going into my music files on the iPod). After you do this, you need to go back to the main screen and hit apply (in the bottom right hand corner).
When you update your iPod the podcasts you selected will now appear in your podcast folder.
It worked for me. I hope it works for you.

  • Itunes crashes when I try to access the podcast folder

I keep having a problem with accessing the podcast folder for my iPod Touch. I can access all of the other folders with no problem. As soon as I click on the podcast folder, a pop-up window appears telling that "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I do click the "send error report" but this is maddening. It shuts down iTunes altogether. Any ideas? Thanks!

That one often seems to be due to an issue with a damaged podcast. Tracking down which podcast (or podcasts) is causing the grief can be a bit of a trial though. Jim's technique from the following post looks about the best way of doing it that I've seen:

  • Double podcasts folder

When updating podcasts some podcasts are opening up new folder directories. Not placing the new podcast in with older podcasts from the same publisher. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you

As has been suggested iTunes "splits" the listing for a podcast if & when the feed URL changes. For example I'm currently subscribed to one called The Pod Delusion. Up until episode 72 the feed URL was:
    http://www.ipadio.com/phlog_rss.asp?phlogid=9216
From episode 73 a couple of weeks ago it has changed to:
    http://www.ipadio.com/ipadio_rss.aspx?phlogid=9216
I've "repaired" broken series in the past using Mp3tag, by editing the PODCASTURL field in the extended tags view of all earlier episodes to merge the series back together. In fact, prompted by this thread I just made the edit outside iTunes with Mp3Tag and then used my script UpdateTagInfo to make iTunes notice the changes. (Playing the tracks briefly one by one should also achieve this end.)
The series is all merged together again.
Unfortunately I don't know offhand of a Mac tag editor that can change the PODCASTURL field but I'm sure there must be one.
If a podcast series changes its name but stays at the same URL then the series should be linked as one in iTunes, but can occupy two or more sub-folders of the Podcasts folder. I'm pretty sure this can be repaired by changing the album title of earlier episodes to match the current one, but as I manually manage my files & folders I would need to create a test library and experiment to be certain.

  • Added podcasts disappear from ipod's podcast folder, HELP!!

I've have a G4 ipod and i updated all my Itunes ad ipod a while back and have been using the new pocast features, but when i conected to a older version of itunes on another computer my pobcast folder turned into a normal playlist and wont change back so all my podcasts are fine but not in the podcast folder. how do i get them to go back into the podcast folder, please help me out.

It sounds like you use the Sync function to update your iPod (that is the best way). There is a setting which controls which Podcasts stay on your iPod, and it's this you need to change.
Connect the iPod to your computer. Highlight the device <your iPod> (left hand side bar) and then click on the Podcasts tab. On that tab, change the various options to the one you want. It probably says "Keep all unplayed episodes" which means it will remove a Podcast from your iPod when you have listened to/watched it.
Change these settings to (for instance) "Keep all episodes" or "keep last x episodes". (I'm currently using my laptop which does not have my iTunes installed so I may have the actual wording wrong - but I hope you get my drift.)

  • I deleted the podcast folder from my ipod. How do I get it back?

How do I recreate the podcast folder on my ipod nit in itunes. I stil have the podcast folder in itunes.

Do you mean you no longer see the option for Podcasts in the menu of the iPod?
If so, go to Settings > Main Menu, scroll to Podcasts and press the center button to turn it back on.

  • I've deleted my Podcasts folder/playlist how do I get it back.

I've searched for this, and I can't find an answer on the 'net.
So I did something stupid. I deleted the Podcasts folder/playlist (whatever it's called - the default container with the Person surrounded by concentric rings icon) on my iPod Touch through iTunes.
How can I get it back? I've tried creating a New Playlist and I've tried creating a New Smart Playlist.
    Is there any other way?

Select the iPod touch in iTunes.
Click the Podcasts tab and select what you want to sync to the touch.

  • Podcasts not in podcasts folder

Does any one know how to manually sync the podcasts on itunes to the podcasts folder in iPod.

Not sure what you mean by "manually sync" ... you either *manually manage* or sync (as in automatically synchronize so that iTunes and the iPod are the same). The best way to manage Podcasts (so that you don't spend too much time sorting them out) is to allow iTunes to automatically copy them onto the iPod using sync . You can still choose which Podcast programmes and which episodes to sync (see below). I've given pointers (below) for both methods.
When your iPod is connected to your computer select the iPod icon (below devices ) and then select the Podcasts tab.
_To manually manage Podcasts_ , iTunes Help states: *To add podcasts to your iPod manually, deselect Sync and drag podcasts or podcast episodes from your Podcasts playlist to the iPod icon in the iTunes window (below Devices).* I think, by Podcasts Playlist, it means the library window. I don't use this method which is why I'm not clear about it.
_To sync Podcasts_ : make sure the sync is selected and then use the drop-down menu to choose which episodes (all, all unplayed, all new - and so on) and the *All Podcasts* button under that to choose which Podcast programmes you want on your iPod.
I use *sync all episodes* of *all podcasts* , which means that I don't spend any time sorting them out. I simply look in Podcasts on the iPod and anything with a blue spot means I haven't started listening to it yet.

  • Podcast folder on iTunes

When I plug in my new Nano, I see Music and Playlist as sub folders, but I don't see a podcast folder? What gives?

Depends on how you are managing the device. If you have it set to manually manage (which it sounds like you do not), you could just delete them from the device in itunes.
It sounds like you need to click on the device, then go to the Podcast tab. Once there, you will have options on how to sync the podcasts available. Check the checkbox to sync podcasts, then make the selections for the podcasts you want to sync.

  • Podcasts don't appear in podcast folder

Shortly after updating to iTunes 7 I had to restore my iPod. Now my ipod menu lists my podcasts in the album and artist lists but not in the podcast folder. How can I fix this?
HP Pavilion, Dell Optiplex Windows XP

You will probably need to update the iPod with the newest firmware. When you restore the iPod, it resets it to factory settings. The newest version of the firmware will have the podcast support.

  • Why is the podcasts folder empty?

I put the most recent Nano software on last week. Since then, my Podcasts folder on my Nano has been empty. They are all still on my iPod but now they're under Music > Genres > Podcasts, which is very irritating. How can I get back to the old, sensible way when they were all listed in the main Podcasts folder?

    thanks !!! this helped !!!

  • Moving podcast from Music Folder into Podcast Folder

I recently noticed that a podcast I had downloaded ended up in the Music folder of the library instead of the Podcast folder. Is there a way to "move" it into the Podcast folder?? I tried dragging it, but that doesn't work. Any suggestions (I can't re-download it again, as it's greyed out when I try the "Get" button).

No matter what I change the 'GetInfo>Options>Media Kind' option to, it will always return back to its original 'Music' state (thereby staying in in the 'Music' folder).
I guess the only thing to do, is to delete the podcast and download it again.
