Podcast for Blackberry - no Explore Podcasts option on Bold 9900

Hi,
Just got my new Bold 9900.  Originally supplied with a Orange sim and number and has recently had my Vodafone number ported across to it..
With the orange supplied Sim and number, the Podcast for Blackberry app worked fine and I was able to use the Explore Podcast option and find a couple of podcasts that worked well.
Since my old number being ported across, i have lost the Explore Podcast option and no longer can add podcasts.
I found KB25642 which explains the exact problem, but following the workaround does fix the problem.  Can anyone help?  I am in UK.
Cheers

I subscribe to my video podcasts but some of them either has a small red E next to them and won't download new content or some just doesn't download new content. I have been watching the Rachael Maddow video podcast for at least a month with no problems. Now suddenly it won't download the last nights show. I have read and followed all troubleshoot and cannot find a solution. I have unsubscribed and re-subscribed to no avail. Can someone help me with this problem?

And now that my contract has expired, I have some options.  Last weekend, I called Verizon again threatening to leave.  The representative offered the same $75 rebate that was offered to me 6 months earlier.  I even offered up one of my device upgrades in place of a network extender, but that deal was knocked down.  And so now I’m left with the option to make a public spectacle out of this scenario and hope Verizon takes notice.  Failing that, I’ll be forced to leave Verizon behind.
I don't understand. If having service in your home IS important to you and you already know Verizon's policy, why have you not instead started to search for carriers which cover your home? It seems a pretty easy decision to me, at least.

  • Ping Podcast for Update

Can someone see if I have done something wrong with my XML. The first podcast is showing, but I have 3 others that are not.
    The itunes link is : http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=258039244&s=143 441
    The xml is here:
    http://www.htccv.org/sermons_files/podcast.xml
I tried to ping is using this:
    https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/pingPodcast?id=258039244&s= 143441
and it worked, but this way didn't:
    https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/pingPodcast?feedURL=http://www.htccv.org/sermons_files/podcast.xml
    It says no Podcast found.
    Thanks for any help!!!

I wouldn't depend on pinging using the Feed URL method...it's not very reliable...usually resulting in exactly what you have found "no podcast found". Pinging by FEEDID is more dependable.
There really isn't any difference in what it ultimately does.
This is the proper ping for your feed:
    https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/pingPodcast?id=258039244
If you look at your podcast in the podcast directory, and right-click (or ctrl-click on the mac) the podcast artwork you are given an option to copy the iTunes store URL.
So your iTunes store URL is the following:
    http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=258039244
The number after the "=" is your FEEDID....in your case it is 258039244
So you add this to the podcast ping URL:
    https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/pingPodcast?id=
that can be found in the iTunes podcast tech spec:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/store/podcaststechspecs.html
Add everything together to get your own podcast ping url:
    https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/pingPodcast?id=258039244
You can bookmark the ping page...every time you add new episode or make changes to your feed, you can go to the bookmarked page to ping your podcast.
Each of your podcasts will have a different FEEDID (think of it like a social security number...it's unique for everyone)
So if you have three different podcast feeds, you'll have three different FEEDID's.
Remember that it is good practice to check your feed with feedvalidator.org after every time you modify your feed. It can really help to catch typos and other little mistakes than can make your feed unreadable to iTunes. In your case your feed validates...this is a start.
However, looking at your feed there may be some potential for problems:
Each of your <item> tags (with the exception of the first one) has a <itunes:summary> tag is that is not closed properly and doesn't contain anything:
    Currently it says: <itunes:summary />
This should either be removed or closed properly..this is a good opportunity to give more detail about your episode, it has a limit of 4000 characters, so you can put a lot in there:
<itunes:summary>Song of Courtship #3. Pastor Kim Buckman continues his Song of Courtship Series with episode #3. etc...etc...etc...</itunes:summary>
The <itunes:summary> is what pops up when you hit the "i" at the end of each listing in your feed. The <itunes:subtitle> is that one line description for each feed.
Anyway, correct the <itunes:summary> tags and all your episodes should be visible.
However, that is only the tip of the iceberg.
Check the URL's to your mp3 files contained in the enclosures...the link to your latest episode results in an "401 authorization" error "PAGE NOT FOUND We cannot locate the page you're looking for. Please check the address and make sure all letters are lowercased with no spaces. You may also move to a different page by using the links in the menu bar above."
So this tells me that either the folder and/or file doesn't exist or there are permissions that are set that prevent any anonymous access. If iTunes can't get to it...it can't download it.
Oh...also, if you notice that the filenames for your episodes have %20 in them...these are spaces (You may see other % numbers for other special characters that are not valid in URLs). Spaces in filenames are certainly valid filenames in Win XP and Mac OS but often time the internet doesn't understand them and replaces them with %20 which represents a space. Try to avoid using spaces in filenames...the usual convention is either to run the words together using initial caps:
    03SongOfCourtship4.mp3
    or using underscores:
    03Song_of_Courtship4.mp3
This will make them more readable to us humans and prevent potential problems with iTunes reading your feed. You'll of course need to change the filenames in the feed to match the filenames on the server.

  • Need help preparing a video podcast for iTunes

I'm trying prepare a video podcast for submission to the iTunes Music Store.
    I followed the instructions here:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/tutorials/videopodcasts.html
The file that QuickTime 7.0.3 creates using the "Export Movie to iPod" option is an .m4v file. If I upload that to my server and blog, Safari and IE don't recognize it (they interpret it as text). Is that a browser issue or a hosting service issue?
I also notice all the video podcasts I came across on iTunes Music Store are .mov files.
Should I post my video podcast as .mov instead of .m4v file format?
    Any tips/help much appreciated.

At the bottom of that page, it says:
    * By following the steps in this tutorial, QuickTime 7 Pro will automatically create an .m4v file containing H.264 video and AAC audio.
iPod can play the following video formats:
    H.264 video
File formats: .m4v, .mp4 and .mov
Video: Up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3
Audio: AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 KHz, stereo audio
    MPEG-4 video
File formats: .m4v, .mp4 and .mov
Video: Up to 2.5 Mbps, 480 x 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile
Audio: AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 KHz, stereo audio
So yes, .mov files will work.

  • I can't play a podcast for an audiobook from Librivox. It's in my podcast library but I can't get it to play.

I downloaded a podcast for an audiobook from Librivox on "A Jury of her Peers." It shows up in my library, but when I try to play it nothing happens. No audio.  It's doing the same thing if I try to log in & play it at work.  Home computer runs Windows XP, work runs Windows7.

ah, ok yes i did do that last night. I just did it again and relized that ther is a "Downloads" tab. I selected it and stated that there was a download error. I'm currently retrying it now. and it is now showing in my videos.
thanks for helping me focus a little more to get where I need to be.

  • For the first time, I downloaded a podcast in the podcast app by clicking on the cloud icon. Now, every single play button for all of my podcast episodes is grayed out. Why can't I play any of my podcasts any more?

    Greetings Heather,
After reading your post, it sounds like you are experiencing an error with the Podcasts app. You may want to consider restarting the device first, and then resetting if that does not work. This article provides detailed instructions for Restarting, and Reseting:
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
    How to restart
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on the top of your device until the red slider appears. Then drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.
    How to reset
You should reset your device as a last resort and only if you can't restart it.
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities,

  • All music and other things on itouch GONE except for one series of podcasts

    I need help!
My computer is low on memory, but I didn't think that would mess up me connecting my iPod touch to my computer. After connecting it, I did not look at my library, but later when I went to listen to something ALL my music, playlists, proof of purchases, were gone, except for one series of podcasts. I decided to connect my iPod to the computer again to see if I could igure out what was going on, and I got a thing that said I was using the iPod on a different account! confused it asked me if I wanted to get my purchased music switched over, so my sister suggested doing that, and so they are back on Itunes, but my computer is having problems because of low memory, so I haven't been able to get it to sync. (I have not tried a lot yet)
can anyone help me? All my apps are there. It's just the music.

When it asked if I wanted to transfer or erase or sync, I chose to transfer purchases, and ALL my music, including not purchased (CD's I had put on there) came back. ALL my music is back! Problem solved!

  • Itunes Store Has not updated my podcast for 5 months

I have been maintaining 4 separate podcasts for about a year and I have one feed that will not update in the itunes store but if you subscribe to the feed then all of the episodes are there. I do not use any program to create the XML files, I just edit them with the required info. Any help with this would be great.
    THanks
    Here is the Feed
    http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=262138599
    Here is my XML file.
    http://www.libertychurch.net/audio/nc/podcast.xml

Your feed is littered with <!-- and --> ; these are intended to enclose comments and prevent them being shown except when viewing the feed directly for programming purposes. They are excluding large chunks of your feed from being read. How did they get there? You should look closely at the feed (which as it stands only seems to contain three viable episodes:
Numbers: Zhongwen Vol 1 Lesson 1
Dixie 400: A Flea Market in North Georgia
    Jobs
and remove any of these tags you don't need. I can't check on iTunes until tomorrow morning but I would expect it not to show the other two episodes either.
Also FeedValidator comments 'Feeds should not be served with the "text/plain" media type' - I don't know whether this could be an issue: please see this note at FeedValidator:

  • TV shows and podcast for Zen microph

My son had to get the Zen microphoto. He couldn't be like my girls and get the apple photo. He claims Zen is so much better. How /where do I go to get tv shows and 'video' podcast for the microphoto The girls have tons in their itunes account. I guess I can't drag the tv shows out of itunes and into zen? There has to be a way to get video on this thing, after all it has a beautiful screen which I hope can be used for more than looking at song titles.
Thanks in advance for your help.

The Zen MicroPhoto does not support video playback. The only players that do are the Zen Vision and Zen Vision:M.
As for podcasts, goto www.zencast.com and download ZenCast. You can transfer audio podcasts to the player this way.

We (Guy Glantser and Matan Yungman) have recently launched a new podcast for SQL Server professionals, called "SQL Server Radio".
We release two shows a month, and basically talk about everything around SQL Server and the SQL Server community. On one show of each month, we juggle around and talk about interesting blog posts, forum discussions, news, events and other things that happen
in the SQL Server world. We expand about each of those items and add from our own experience. On the second show of the month, we go more in-depth. Sometimes we bring a guest, and sometimes we talk about a specific topic like SQL Server 2014, conferences or
    professional development.
So if you love SQL Server and love learning by hearing, whether you're on your way to work, jogging or just chilling and
want to learn in a fun way, check us out on

  • Best equipment for recording lectures to publish as podcasts for class?

I am in an Anatomy class this fall (pre-nursing) and several of the students have expressed the need to record the lectures for studying later. I'd like to record them in a way that will work with my Mac, as the cheapy recorders you can pick up at say, WalMart, don't seem to work well with Mac's. Ideally, they would be recorded in a fashion that they could easily be published as podcasts for the other students to download.
    So where should I start?
    Thanks!

Does your classroom have AV equipment already in place? You might be able to leverage that. I was teaching in a large lecture theatre last Fall and I had to wear a wireless FM lapel mic which was connected to the classroom console and the classroom speakers. The technicians that set-up the classroom had an audio cable with a mini-jack that I could plug into my MacBook and I used QuickTime to record the lectures. It worked very slick.
I presume you want to walk around the classroom and not be tethered to your computer as you teach. What I'm interested in is finding out if there is a way to wear a Bluetooth headset, have it communicate with my Macbook, and record everything using QuickTime -- the reason being that when I teach again in Winter, my classroom won't have the FM mic. I haven't been able to find a definitive answer on this and I'd like to before I plunk down $$ for a BlueTooth headset.

  • Podcast for 2010 Rose Parade floats?

    Hello,
The 2010 Rose Bowl float display, free audio tour is supposed to be down-loadable from ITunes but I am unable to find it anywhere. Would anyone know how to find that podcast? Thank you very much.
    Jerry

Thanks Meg and Doc. I saw the "note" about the free podcast on the parade website but all it said was that it was down-loadable off the ITunes site but didn't say when. I looked and looked but can't find it.
This podcast gives a description of all the floats that you see in the viewing area, after the parade is finished on New Year's Day. (They park them in one area) As you walk the grounds, viewing the parade floats, the podcast gives you about a two minute description on each float; telling what its theme is, what went into making it, the number and kind of flowers, unusual displays on that float, etc. So, since I go every year to see the floats I thought it would be great to have the podcast playing as I went from float to float.
And this podcast is something that I would have thought could have been put together at least a couple weeks in advance of the parade because all info about the floats is on record and even their place in line, as you walk around the grounds. I didn't think they would wait this long to post the podcast.
They've done this podcast for a few years but this is the first time I will, hopefully, listen to it. I will check back after Christmas and hope to locate it on ITunes by then. Thanks again and have a great Holiday and a safe New year!
    Jerry

    Hi there,
I'm new to ipods & have recently bought an ipod touch. Now as I look through itunes & podcasts, I notice people creating photo slideshows, etc for clients to be able to download as podcasts from within itunes.
Could someone point me in the direction of instructions/how-to's for creating a slideshow podcast, then on making it downloadable in itunes for my clients?
    Thanks in advance
