Podcast freezes when I click on window after upgrading to iTunes 7.6 (29)

I can no longer view my podcasts without having them freeze up on me if I interrupt the playback by clicking on the (podcast) window. Actually, the entire computer freezes up on me and I've tried every shortcut in the shortcut list under help to get out of it. Once I was able to hit escape a couple times, but I think that was a fluke. The only thing that works is to reboot by pressing and holding the power button or remove the battery from the laptop.
This is a bit disappointing b/c I haven't had to deal with these "PC" like issues since getting my MACs a couple years ago.
Anyone else freezing up?

This kind of symptom is usually caused by having some piece of software installed that modifies the way iTunes or the OS looks or behaves, like a plugin, "haxie" or "application enhancer." If you have anything like that installed it, you might want to try uninstalling it.

After upgrading to Windows 10 my T440s shows the following behaviour: It boots up fine with the AC adapter plugged in. Now if I unplug power it goes into battery mode, i.e. darker backlight etc just fine. Now plugging the power back in, the screen gets brighter but the UI freezes. The screen freezes and the mouse pointer doesn't move. It doesn't seem to completely lock up though because when I unplug the power again everything comes back to life again. I am happy to report that this is fixed after upgrading the Intel HD Graphics driver from Windows Update via Device Manager. Not sure why that hadn't shown up as available directly in Windows Update.

Video podcasts and TV shows don't play after upgrading to iTunes 7.

Any suggestions, I've lost the ability to view podcasts and TV shows in iTunes after upgrading.

Try this, it worked for me.
1. Quit iTunes.
2. Go to: Start menu > Control Panels > QuickTime.
3. Click on the Advanced tab.
4. Un-check the checkbox next to "Enable Direct3D video acceleration".
5. Open iTunes.
6. Play the video.

IMovie freezes when I click import, I just upgraded to Mavericks

I upgraded to Mavericks yesterday and when I opened iMovie to work on a new video, I click on import and then iMovie stops working. I have to force quit. Any suggestions?

It's not clear whether your printer is included in the Apple list - there is an Officejet 6100 and a couple of other types. Go to the page linked to above and use the browser search for 6100.
I'm afraid HP are notorious for not supporting older printers - I had the same problem. Probably they hope you will buy another printer (I did, but it was a Canon). I did look on HP's site and couldn't see a driver - you could give it a try (make sure you have the exactly correct printer name):

I found it would indeed drive the printer, but the colour dithering wasn't very satisfactory and the duplex printing bolt-on wouldn't work. However as Gutenprint is free it's worth trying to see if it's any good for you.

You switch keyboards by going to the " flag" menu at the top right of the screen.

Screen turns white and freezes when I click on a link

First, make sure that Firefox is set as the default browser. Ref: [[How to make web links open in Firefox by default]] and [[Setting Firefox as the default browser does not work]]. If links in Outlook Express that should open Firefox freeze the entire computer, you could try temporarily setting Internet Explorer (or another browser) as the default (see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Default_browser#Using_Set_Program_Access_and_Defaults for one way to do that).
If clicking links in Outlook Express still freezes the computer, you should seek help in a Windows XP forum or an Outlook Express forum ... for example, I found these with a google search:

ITunes freezes when I click on "burn" - CD diagnostics attached

iTunes freezes when I click on "burn" CD, or when I click on the "burning" tab in Edit, Properties, Advanced. I have to then use Task Manager to get out of iTunes then.
I ran a CD diagnostic and the results are below:

My system has all of the updates and drivers. The problem stated when I upgraded iTunes.
Are you suggesting that because of that, I need to upgrade to Windows XP?
Many people are having the same problem as I, and they already have Windows XP....so I doubt that is the problem.
My question is:
Where can I find an older revision of iTunes? At least then we could use our burners until apple fixes this bug, and then upgrade.

Then you should close the old topic by marking it as Answered or Solved; don't leave them open.
If Safari still freezes, try this:
1. Go to Home/Library/Cookies and delete the Cookies.plist file.
2. Go to Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari and delete the contents of that folder.
3. Go to Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Web Page Previews and delete the contents of that folder.
4. If you don't want to use the Top Sites or Cover Flow features, open Terminal and paste in this command:

I believe DdeGannes suggested permission on the Destination folder (not the source folder). Performing a copy requires only Read&Write permission on the destination folder, not the source folder. You need to go into your operating system and change the permissions to Read&Write on the destination folder. (If you don't know how to do that, go to your favorite search engine and type in Change Permissions Mac)

It's normal for links to open in the same tab as you browse if you left-click. You can Ctrl+click or middle click to open a link in a new tab. Are either of those broken?
Some sites let you use a regular left click to open a link in a new tab (example: Google search settings), and some add-ons may change link behavior. Can you check whether one of your add-ons has been disabled?
Tools > Add-ons > Extensions
Also, if you use the Ask toolbar, try disabling it and see whether that makes any difference.

Also, you mentioned that you have been successful burning a CD with the Windows OS. Make sure that you have closed all software programs that can access the CD burner so that there isn't a conflict for the drive. Sometimes chaning the burn speed from "maximum" to 8x can also help in this situation.

I haven't kept records of the songs I have paid for, and a number of songs have recently been displaying this message, making me search my computer for them. Most I have been able to find, but this one immediately "disappeared" the moment I attempted to play it after downloading...... how do I either get it back or get my money back???

How did you do this move? Unless you know what you are doing you have to move the whole, complete iTunes folder.

Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.

Stuck in a "loop" at the login window after upgrading to Leopard

I bought a new iMac Oct 26. It contained Tiger, and included a disk for installing Leopard. I easily got the machine up and running using Tiger, but last night I attempted to install Leopard. When the installation was complete, I tried to get it running. A screen asking for my password came up. I keyed that in and hit logon. Back came the screen asking for the password. To make long story short, I tried everything I could last night, and then called Apple Support this morning. Took quite a while, but I was back in business this afternoon. The technician who helped me sent me the email copied below describing the solution. Perhaps it will help someone else? Romelle

Issue or symptom
After installing Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard on a 20-inch or 24-inch iMac (Late 2007) computer, you may not be able to log in at the login window. Your login name and password are apparently accepted, but after a blue screen appears for a few seconds, the login window reappears instead of your desktop.

Solution
If Leopard is installed
Start up from the Leopard Install DVD and perform an Archive and Install installation (and select Preserve Users and Network Settings).
After the Archive and Install is complete, you should be able to successfully log in. Use Software Update to install any other updates.
Important: Install the iMac Software Update 1.3 for Leopard after the Archive and Install is complete.
If Leopard is not yet installed
If you have not yet installed Leopard on your 20-inch or 24-inch aluminum iMac computer with a 2.0, 2.4, or 2.8 GHz processor running Mac OS X 10.4.x, but previously installed the iMac Software Update 1.2, you should install the iMac Software Update 1.2.1 (Tiger) or later, before installing Leopard.

If Leopard came pre-installed and this is a new machne, then the disks that came in the box should let you archive install preserving users & network settings. The disks have a grey label, and if you get more than one use disk #1 for this procedure.
Hold down the "option" (also known as "alt" on the new keyboards) key when starting up with disk #1 in the optical drive. Select the install disk icon on the grey screen and click the arrow. Then when you get to the "select destination pane, click the options button after selecting your hard drive as the destination. In options A& I preserving should be checked by default, if not, select them. Click "ok" to dismiss the options pane, then run the installation.
If this does not work for you, call apple support. They want everything to work. Be patient, they are real busy these days.
