Podcast guru

So I have created a podcast which is now finally posted after the debackle this week with the iTunes store! My question is about keyword search. In the xml file there are about 6 keywords, however when doing a search iTunes only finds the words in the title of the Podcast.
So, the question is - is there something incorrect in the xml file or is the search only limited to those words in the title/author of the podcast? Or is there a keyword search in iTunes that I am missing?
Here is the line of code:
<itunes:keywords>root canal, endodontics, K3, elements obturation unit, RealSeal,
obturation, System B.</itunes:keywords>

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
You may need to convert some content for use on an iPod:

That said I'm surprised that a video podcast wouldn't be in the required format already.

  • Ideal compressor settings for vocal podcast?

Any audio guru got some ideas on how to set up the podcast for a optimal audiopodcast?
I'm using a external microphone and don't want my audio to be clipped. I wan't to raise the low sounds and try to keep the narration constant at around -10 dB.
I tried the AUMultibandCompressor at preset 0 with fine results.
Anyone got any other tweeks or suggestions?

It's in the menu of effects that you find in the track info window when you click that little "Details" triangle.
You can also select a preset from the "Podcasting" set of "instruments" - you have things like "Male Narrator", "Male Radio", most of them use this speech enhancer.

  • New to podcasting. don't hate.

Okay. So first podcast made in Garageband. Check. Transferred it to iTunes. Yeah. It's in there. I can listen to it. Anyways.. Where do I go from here? I've tried understanding all these freakin' tutorials and crap but they don't really help. I am the guru of my school's website and we are trying to get a podcast out there. Please help!

We've neglected to mention the most elementary concept for our friend here in case he's not privy...
the file you made needs to be uploaded to the internet. preferable on your server.
Then, you have to create an RSS feed file that references your uploaded audio file. There is software to make these, or you can learn it yourself online. google.
the feed file is what gets submitted to the iTunes music store.
    good luck.
my feed is here if you want to check it out:

  • E70 Unable to Install Nokia Podcasting App

Unsure if this problem is the same as other threads but here goes:
The podcasting app from http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/podcasting doesn't want to install on my E70; it objects with "Expired certificate".
I've tried with the certificate verification both enabled & disabled in the Installer plus also allowing unsigned apps to install.
This is the only app that won't install on my device - I have a dozen others including Opera, Google Maps and all the std Nokia ones like SMS Accelerator & Zip Manager.
Is this really a certificate issue or does my E70 have it's knickers in a twist? If it's a question of getting an updated cert' then how do I do this?
If someone from Nokia is able to respond that'd be great - perhaps they can vouch for the following app: http://www.symbian-guru.com/wp-content/uploads/Nokia%20Podcasting%20unsigned%20%28symbian-guru.com%2...
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I had the exact same problem and so just changed the date on my nokia e51 to 2008 and then ran the installer then from http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/podcasting/compatibility-and-download and it worked fine!

  • Retrieving iTunes podcasts

For the last year I have been downloading podcasts, keeping them for a few hours or days until I listen to them, then I trash them. Time Machine has been backing them all up.
But now I'd like to listen to a few of them again, and they are gone from the original server. Time Machine to the rescue. But it's a tedious task browsing through all 73 Time Machine backups to find the podcasts I want. Is there any way to automatically retrieve all the contents of all the backups of the iTunes Music/Podcasts folder and save them to a folder? I can't figure out how to do this.

I cannot "see" them listed anywhere in the library menu or anywhere else and cannot find any reference in the drop down menus where it refers to restoring podcasts etc.

How about someone else with the podcasts in their iTunes and/or on their iPod? You could connect to thier iTunes to get the podcasts? (IF YOU AUTO SYNC your iPod be sure NOT to let it auto sync with the other computer!)
What connecting their iPod to your computer (again watch out for the Auto Sync message UNLESS the iPod is set up to Manually Manage Music) and using a third party software to get them podcasts? YamiPod? SharePod? Etc...

  • Discussion for State of CRM podcast

    /people/jon.reed/blog/2010/03/17/state-of-sap-crm--sap-mentor-podcast
Jon, Vijay and myself would love to have your feedback on this podcast.  If you can't listen to the podcast, read the transcript posted on both SCN and the link to the original copy on the blog.
In order to encourage discussion this post will be sticky and allow for recognition on comments(hint, hint).
    Thank you in advance,
    Stephen
SAP Mentor 2010 / CRM Topic Moderator
P.S.  Contact me directly if you have any issues with how this is being posted.

Thank you for the guru comment, however we are more like guys who have willingly spent a lot of time of with the solution.
As far as CRM on-demand goes, I'm really an on-premise guy myself, so I can't tell you the nitty gritty of how it differs.  The fundamental difference is that the SAP CRM solution is in the "cloud" instead of in your own datacenter.  This means that the solution is tailored more towards a "cloud" access rather than having the full landscape.
That being said, if there is someone out there that has worked with the on-demand solution that can provide a more intelligent and detailed answer about the solution, please chime in.  BTW: all intelligent/appropriate responses on this thread will be recognized.
    Take care,

  • Podcast episodes download to wrong folder. How can I move them?

Some of my downloaded podcast episodes seem to be going to incorrect folders.
For example, I subscribe to the Photoshop TV podcast. Some of the downloaded episodes go into the iTunes Music folder>Podcasts>Photoshop TV folder. This seems to me to be the correct path.
But most of the episodes wind up in iTunes Music folder>Unknown Artist>Unknown Album folder, along with many unrelated, non-podcast files.
Now when I search in the Library for<Photoshop> all the Photoshop TV files appear, along with other files referencing Photoshop. But when I search the Library using <Photoshop TV> as the search term, only the Photoshop TV files in the Unknown Album folder show up, but not the ones in the Podcasts>Photoshop TV folder.
And finally when I cllick on Podcasts in the Source pane, once again only the Photoshop TV files in the Unknown Album show up.
I've tried adding those Photoshop TV files back to the library but they remain in the Unknown Album folder.
I haven't tried rebuilding the library yet. I will, but it seems that wont actually move any files. I could also recreating a new library moving my iTunes music folder out of the iTunes folder and then adding them all back. That seems like overkill and I might very well end up with the same problem. (I'm not sure how many of my other Podcast subscriptions have this problem, but not many)
    So,
    1) how can I get these Photoshop TV files into the Podcasts>Photoshop TV folder, and
    2) how can I make this the folder that shows up when I search via the Podcast source, and
    3) what causes this problem?

  • Podcasts downloaded to "wrong" folder, then ITunes can't find it anymore

    Hi
When I subscribe to a podcast or download the newest podcast, it will be saved not to the folder of itunesmusic/podcasts/name of podcast, but to /itunesmusic/downloads/podcasts/name of podcast, apparently as tmp-folder. Synchronising just then with my IPOD works, but when I exit ITunes and restart it, the podcast is not found anymore and I get the exclamation mark. When I search for it I can't find the podcast then anymore.
I have ITunes 7.0.2.16 and running Windows XP.
Any one has an idea how to solve this?
Also is there a way to downgrade ITunes to version 6 or so? Because there it worked without problems.
    Appreciate any feedback.

Too my a bit to work out *** was going on, but it was driving me insane with podcasts vanishing on me.
To clarify, this is a full description of the issue:
I have a problem with iTunes losing podcasts. They'd download, seem to play, but when I exited and reloaded iTunes a load of them would be lost and give me the exclamation icon. I've managed to work out why iTunes is losing my podcasts, but have no idea how to fix it.
I've got a folder specified which I want iTunes to use to store my stuff in (E:\Media\itunes).
When I subscribe to a new podcast it downloads to a file called E:\Media\itunes\Downloads\Podcasts\File on 4_ Phone tap evidence - 21 N.tmp\download.mp3 and creates a folder called E:\Media\itunes\Podcasts\File on
I think it's supposed to save it to the first location and then copy it across to the second folder when it's finished. Except it doesn't. iTunes can run the podcast now, but from the temp folder.
When you restart itunes, it nukes everything in the E:\Media\itunes\Downloads\Podcasts folder - I assume as it thinks I have no downloads outstanding and anything in here is just junk.
Apart from manually copying, renaming and point itunes to this file - how do I get around this problem. It's only started since I went to iTunes7 and a complete uninstall/registry/config cleanse followed by a reinstall doesn't fix the problem.

  • ITunes says updating files on my iPod, but podcasts do not show up.

I have an iPod Classic 80g. It is set to manually manage files and disk use is enabled. Recently I had to reformat my PC and reinstall the OS and other programs. Prior to this I was able to click and drag the video podcast I subscribe to directly to my iPod. Now, after the reformat, when I drag the new podcasts to my iPod, iTunes says its updating files my files, but when its finished there are no files added to my iPod. When I try to add it again, it no longer says it's updating, but still nothing happens. I have checked in all available folders incase it was adding to the wrong place, but it is nowhere to be found except fot being temporarily in the recently added folded. All other media types like movies and music import without a problem to my iPod.
    Please help.

I found this answer on http://forums.ilounge.com/archive/index.php/t-197870.html
I tried it and it worked. I am not tech savy, but I am in the process of downloading all of the other shows this way. Once I entered in the url in the "sync podcasts", it then allowed me to place all of the newly downloaded podcasts under podcasts. I played around for a while, so not sure I can walk you through it, but it will work.
Once I had synced the podcast, I went into podcast, dbl clicked on the original subscribed podcast show, that brought up the other shows and I downloaded them, one by one. Am trying a mass download, but cannot seem to do that.
    Hope this helps.

Yeah, you have to subscribe to a podcast and select "Sync podcasts" for it to show up under "Podcasts" on the iPod. Even podcasts downloaded through iTunes won't show up here if you don't subscribe/sync but just put them in a playlist.

  • Issue with Podcast ap?

    Hi,
I already posted in the podcast production community and got a response stating that my podcast feed is NOT the issue, and that it must be an IOS or ap issue.  so here we go.
I recently took over podcast duties for our podcast.  And around a month before I took over (mid-march)  I began recieving complaints that the podcast wasn't updating to subscribers.  It seems to be mostly from people using the IOS podcast ap.  I am using it myself, and I can search for the podcast and find it, but as a subscriber the podcast will not update automatcially, or aknowledge that a new podcast has been uploaded.  I am aware that it can take a few days to update from my feed, but it still should alert subscribers when a new podcast is uploaded.
With that said, the podcasts are being updated at the store, the podcast ap is not updating on several subscriber's iphones unless they search for it, which defeats the purpose of being a subscriber.
    Any thoughs?

can I move podcast from my account to other's?
i.e. may it have 2 owners?

You're talking about an episode you've downloaded in someone else's podcast, and moving it to another user account on your Mac? You could simply subscribe to the podcast in the other account and download it again, but if you want to save the download time just drag the episode(s) to the Desktop, then place them in the Users/shared folder, then open the other user account and drag them from there to iTunes.
If this isn't what you are trying to do please specify exactly what it is.

  • I publish identical podcasts under different URLs.  How can I combine them into one?

Over the years, my URL has changed a couple of times.  I didn't know (until recently) how to notify iTunes that the podcast location and URL had changed.  So, now after a number of years, I have three identical podcasts, each with different a different URL and a different list of subscribers.  I have them pointing to the same source file now, but I would love to combine the podcasts into one so that the subscribers from each are merged together and they don't show up as three possible subscriptions in iTunes.  Is this possible?

You can't merge them: all you can do is to ask to have two of them deleted, and of course if you do that you will lose any ratings. However existing subscribers should all be using the same feed if the three Store pages are all using the same feed, and so removing two of them won't have any effect on subscribers.
The method of getting a podcast removed is detailed here:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/specs.html#removing
When you explain why you want each one of the two you choose removed, specifically say that the same feed is in use in three places, so you can't use the 'itunes:block' tag (because this would block all three).

  • How can I create a playlist that syncs with my ipod touch 5 that plays both podcasts and music? Before updating to itunes 11 I was able to do it and now it seems that the power is gone. (I do not have the podcast app on my ipod touch 5)

When apple first introduced the podcast app for my iphone I discovered that installing it took away the option to have a playlist (smart playlist or regular) that mixed music, audiobooks and podcasts. I therefore quickly uninstalled it and was happy to have my iOS devices happily mixing music and podcasts.
With the push to itunes 11.1 and iOS 7 on my ipod Touch and ipad mini I no longer have mixed playlists. I do see (according to itunes) that the podcasts are copied to my devices but there doesn't seem any way to play them. Nor do my mixed format playlists contain them.
When combined with the change to the podcast tab in itunes that shows all available by default and doesn't seem to offer any way to Turn it OFF so I can easily see what new unlistened to podcasts exist it seems that the way I got used to using my itunes since my ipod nano first generation has been eliminated. I haven't read why so if someone could point me to their logic on how come I would want the changes they keep trying to force on me I would at least understand their motives.
If no one has a better fix I have discovered that I can declare the podcasts to be audiobooks and get them to play that way. One downside to that approach is that it doesn't clear them out of the podcast folder thanks to the change to the iCloud friendly format or whatever they were hoping for.
