Podcast help in iWeb

Morning all... or is it evening ? I've been trying to get to the bottom on this problem now for SO long I can't remember what it is !
Anyway...
Creating my own website using iWeb. I have just finished my Podcast and I'm sharing it from Garage Band to iWeb. All goes well so far.
This is my problem, I don't like the default text Apple are using on the Podcast's page (where the describion is etc etc), How can I change this ???? The box the information is held in seems to be protected somehow ! It's really annoying me, because the chosen text doesn't match the rest of my website and therefore I won't be using the Podcast if I can't change it !
Help ???? Anyone ?
- Neil Holmes

If you are talking about the actual Podcast episode page, you should be able to change the text fonts, sizes, colors, etc. But if you are talking about the main Podcast index page, the text scheme here is set by the template and cannot be changed in iWeb.

  • Help- Changing iweb podcasting site and adding feedburner

I set up a podcast with iweb then realized I wanted to change a few things.
    1. I want to change the website name in iweb from "Site 2" to "Awake Podcast"
When I do this it changes the feed, and I can't access the old feed.
    2. I wanted to change the feed to feedburner so I can track the podcast.
How do I do this? What order? Which feed to I adjust? What code do I need to add?
I'm new at this. Any help would be appreciated.
    Justin

In order to change iTunes to a different feed (and as you've found changing the site name in iWeb changes the feed URL by changing its name) you have to add a special tag to the feed:
    <itunes:new-feed-url>URL OF YOUR NEW FEED</itunes:new-feed-url>
This can't be done within iWeb which doesn't allow you to tamper with the feed. Download the existing feed from the server, Open it in TextEdit *IN PLAIN TEXT MODE* not Rich Text. Add the tag just below the 'channel' tag near the top of the feed (on a new line). The URL must be full and include the http://
Upload the feed manually to the server, replacing the existing feed.
Now change the name of the podcast site in iWeb and do a complete republish. Make sure that it hasn't over-written or removed the modified feed: you may need to upload it again, and you may need to recreate the folder it was originally in. Wait for iTunes to recognize the new feed - it shouldn't take long.
If you want to involve Feedburner you will have to submit the new version of the feed to Feedburner. Mke sure Feedburner have uploaded their version of the feed. Then you will have to download the new iWeb feed and modify it by adding the tag with the Feedburner URL. Once you have done this *DO NOT* do anything in iWeb until you are sure that iTunes has transferred to the Feedburner feed. Then you can add new episodes in the usual way.

  • Can subscribe to podcast but cannot download podcast help

    Okay here is the problem.
Made a podcast site in iweb.
made video m4v files (And they play in itunes from my CPU)
    uploaded site
    and itunes excepted rss feed
sent feed to feed validator they replied
(Your feed appears to be encoded as "UTF-8", but your server is reporting "US-ASCII")
    Note I use Godaddy.com
    also said
"This feed is valid, but interoperability with the widest range of feed readers could be improved by implementing the following recommendations"
    lastly they said
line 2, column 0: Use of unknown namespace: http://www.apple.com/iweb [help]
    <rss xmlns:itunes="http://www.itunes.com/dtds/podcast-1.0.dtd" xmlns:iweb="h ...
    line 55, column 2: Missing atom:link with rel="self" [help]
    </channel>
    ^
line 55, column 2: Missing recommended iTunes channel element: itunes:category [help]
I dont know where to turn from here. because I dont know how to fix my source code in iweb.
Here is my feed if anyone can help.
    http://www.relevantcontentmedia.com/www.relevantcontentmedia.com/Podcast/rss.xml
Thank you. And I will send you a free copy of my film if you help.

Your feed is OK, though you have not set a category - you can do this in iWeb when submitting.
The reason you cannot download the episodes is that the URL for the latest one at least does not work:
    http://www.relevantcontentmedia.com/www.relevantcontentmedia.com/Media/C%20Cups% 20and%20Gentle%20Nuts%20Ep3.m4v
Either there is no file at this address or there is something wrong with it. Looking at the display of your feed in FireFox (used as an rss reader) the episodes are described as 'Video (protected)' - have you inadvertently set a password? - no password request is received when attempting to load the URL, but you don't get a 'file not found' either. On attempting to load the URL I got a blank page: looking at the source code I found:
    </iframe></noscript></object></layer></table></body></html><!-- adsok -->
    <script language='javascript' src='https://a12.alphagodaddy.com/hosting_ads/gd01.js'></script>
If you are trying to use a script to load the video this isn't going to work in iTunes, and evidently doesn't work in a browser either - you need to give the actual URL of the media (and ideally there should be no spaces in the filename). I'm afraid you are going to have to do some detective work.

  • Video Podcast Trouble Using iWeb

    Hey,
I am having some problems with my video podcast and I was wondering if anyone could help me out any.
I am using the new iLife and iWeb, and have not been able to find much support on those programs. I listed my first video podcast without much problem at all.
My only problem was that the picture was incorrect in the store and when I tried to update the picture, it resulted in nothing but black. I followed all of the picture guidlines, so I dont know why its not showing up.
Secondly, my podcast was working fine for a couple of days, now it looks like there is trouble with the link. So, I dont know what to do anymore. I have resubmitted my podcast to Apple, so maybe that will help. The link to my podcast is:
    http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=120891660&s=143 441
Any help would be so appreciated!

Awesome. I would really appreciate the help.
I used the White Podcast template in IWeb.
I did think I resolved some of the issues with my link...or so I hope anyway. It turns out the my original link in iTunes store went dead. I think it was because there was another podcast listed under the same name. So I changed the name a little and resubmitted it to iTunes. It went back up today. The new link is:
    http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=120891660&s=143 441
The photo is still not working however...
    Thanks again for your help!

  • No success by abo my podcast done with iWeb

    He,
I run a podcast, produced with iWeb and saved on disc.
At my apple screen was all ok.
but when I put this to my servers (I tried two different), I
    also earn this:
    http://freinet.paed.com/news/Podcast2
Im unable to abo my podcast: iTunes answers:
Dies ist möglicherweise keine gültige podcast-url.
    iWeb 1.1.2
    http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=202188836
    What is wrong?
    Please help me
    Jürgen

Your RSS feed does not validate:
    http://feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Ffreinet.paed.com%2Fnews%2FPo dcast2%2Fpodfreinet%2FPodcast%2Frss.xml
The first problem is that you are claiming that it's UTF-8 when it's not.
I believe that is because you've typed or pasted in some Unicode characters that require UTF-16.
    Or possibly even UTF-32...
It's also possible that you copy/pasted from MS Word or some other kind of document.
    Don't do that!
It will have all kinds of non-standard characters in there for formatting that have NO meaning outside of MS Word.
See the double ?? in this page:
    http://freinet.paed.com/news/Podcast2/podfreinet/Podcast/rss.xml
    Those are your problem characters.
Get those to "work" in Firefox, then check the feedvalidator link above until you "validate"
You may have to live with not-quite-right characters for the umlauts and whatnot until you can work out how to get UTF-16 if that's what it takes.

  • Help! - New Podcast feed in iWeb 2.0

I have been putting off updating to iWeb 2.0, as I have been following all the problems with it changing the RSS feed and not redirecting your podcast. I have over 3,500 subscribers to my podcast and don't want to risk messing it up.
I have read through all the archives, and tried to make sense of how to redirect it, but the descriptions lack specifics ".... go to your feed folder, and change the feed to the new one ...." etc. What folder, where, change what "specifically"? "..... do a 302 redirect ..." Huh? How, where?
Can someone please do a "Changing your iTunes RSS feed for Dummies"? With specific, detailed, step by step explanation. I really need to do it right and not lose my subscribers.
This would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.
    Todd

Anyone? Anyone at all? I see this question still being asked by others as well. Anyone have any tips on this, it would be so appreciated.
    Thanks!

  • My first podcast, help!

I made my first podcast on Garage Band but I'm not sure it got sent out right. It sent it to iWEB but when it opened in iweb there was a bunch of text in some other language except for my title. Idk where to go from here, if anyone could help me I'd really, really appreciate it.

  • Itunes Podcast Logo using iweb

    Hi All,
Perhaps you can help me. I use iweb to create and submit my podcast to itunes.
However the RSS feed that iweb creates for iTunes does not include my podcast logo (main image) so that in itunes my podcast does not have a logo.
Do you know how to add the main podcast image (logo) to using iweb so that it is included in itnes?
    Thanks

There probably is a method, hidden somewhere in iWeb's complexities, but your best best would be to ask in the iWeb forum.

  • Podcasting simply with iWeb problems

Hi. I have 3 podcast episodes on my iWeb/Mobile Me website. I have not submitted to iTunes. I have Apples reference to podcasting and submitting to iTunes and I plan to study and fully learn it, when my schedule permits, then maintain my custom xml in a custom location and then submit to iTunes.
In the meantime, I am having problems with people simply subscribing from my podcast page.
I send my episodes directly to iWeb from GarageBand. I submit all to Mobile Me. When someone subscribes directly from the page... iTunes downloads the episodes initially, but later, like the next day, iTunes says "there is a problem with the feed" and gives the "!". However, a lot of the time I can retry later and it will find the feed fine... Then later again it won't.
I know when I get to writing my own xml and hosting it I can customize everything as needed but I simply havent had time to dive into that yet.
I'm hoping in the meantime I have people successfully subscribe with what i send straight out of iWeb.
Can anyone think of what might be causing this problem of where iTunes can sometimes find the feed and other times not.
www.mattplay.com "The Solar Mix" is the podcast page.
Thanks for your time and help!

  • ITunes rejected my podcast - help with resubmitting

Hi there! First off I'd like to say that I have "minimal" expertise with podcasts, but have successfully been podcasting for a little over a year now. I'm a DJ and make podcasts of my DJ mixes for promotional use (like many of the 100s that are listed in the iTunes Music Store). I've tried a few times to list my podcast in the ITMS and every time it has been rejected with no specific reason stated (just the generic reasons given to everyone I'm sure). The ITMS did at one point have my podcast come up in it's search results but it never actually worked in allowing someone to subscribe to my podcast. I contacted the ITMS and they have since removed the search results.
I am trying to resubmit my podcast for approval and now I keep getting an error that the feed has already been submitted. I contacted the ITMS support team and they suggested the following:
"I also know that when podcasters receive a message that the feed has already been submitted, the iTunes Store is detecting that the podcast is a duplicate. You'll need to follow these steps to resubmit the podcast after making some changes:
    1) Change the title and link fields of your RSS feed to something other than what they are now.
    2) Resubmit the podcast feed via iTunes.
    3) Once you have successfully submitted the podcast, you can change the title and link fields back to what they were."
I do not know anything about coding and/or XML and use a 3rd party application called Feeder to update my XML file.
Could someone PLEASE help me? I've been trying to get help with this for many months now, but kept posting under the GarageBand section. I'm thinking I'll get much more intelligent and applicable help over here.
My podcast is located at http://www.auralpleasuresmusic.com/. The Feed link is http://idisk.me.com/keith_bowden/Public/AuralPleasures.xml (which as you can tell by the URL I use my MobileMe account to host).
If there is any other information that will help with solving this please let me know and I will provide it.
    Thank you!
    Sincerely,
    Keith

Your site is produced in iWeb and this will produce a podcast feed for you - perhaps that's how you are starting. The 'auralpleasures' text underneath the logo on your web page has a link to the same feed at feedburner.
The feed you give the URL for, on your iDisk, has, when downloaded, the filename AuralPleasures.xml.rss - you would do better to remove the .rss extension. However the feed can be subscribed to manually in iTunes. When examined in FeedValidator it says the feed is valid but comments 'Feeds should not be served with the "application/octet-stream" media type' - this may possibly arise from the double extension. However it's quite likely that this is not causing your problem
There is a bug in the iTunes Store whereby if a podcast is rejected and resubmitted it claims the podcast has already been submitted. In order to get round this you should change the name slightly - you could do this in iWeb and work on from there - for example call it 'Aural-Pleasures'. This would change both the title and the feed filename, and so would make it look like a new feed; then you should be able to resubmit it. I can't advise on how Feeder comes into this.
This leaves the matter of why your podcast was rejected. Reasons for removal include technical problems (probably not the case here), illegal or objectionable material (again, as far as I can see not the case either) or copyright violation.
The content of the episodes is 'mixes' and I would hazard a guess that the most likely explanation for your podcast's removal is that the iTunes Store is concerned that you are including copyright material for which you don't have either written permission from the copyright owner or a valid podcast licence from a recognized authority. If this is their concern, and you don't have such clearance, they are not likely to allow you to post your podcast (because under some jurisdictions they may be regarded as co-publishers and liable to the same civil suits as you might be).
If you do have clearance you need to make this clear to them, though I'm not sure how you can do this other than by contacting Support again, emphasizing the point, and hoping that they respond constructively.

  • New podcast: help! I have one page with podcast links..should I make posts?

    hey guys,
I'm using wordpress to host my podcasts. I put up to podcasts, in one page on my site (not as new 'posts' but two links on a page) and made a feed for that page. I submitted the feed to itunes over a week or two ago, and my older podcast shows up, but not both of them.
None of my podcast info can be found by search (yet).
    Any advice?
Do I need to make a feed for a different page?
Here is the link for the podcast page on our site: http://stumptownvegans.com/the-podcasts/
Here is the feed address I sent to Itunes:
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/stumptownvegans/rXpN
    Podcast on Itunes: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=279416102
    The original feed: http://stumptownvegans.com/feed/
    The main site's feed: http://feeds.feedburner.com/StumptownVegans
which has NOT been sent to Itunes.
    Any thoughts?
    Thank you in advance!!

  • Podcast Help.. Please ?

Hi guys, am having a little trouble with the uploading of my podcast. I am using the www.mypodcast.com site
basically to run u through what ive done so far:
I created my show in logic pro, saved it as 96Kbit then i uploaded this file into garage band to split it into chapters and add images to each chapter.
I then sent the file from garage band into itunes using the 'send podcast to itunes' function and this basically bounced it down to a .m4a file (aac) which works fine in itunes however when i try to upload this file into account it doesnt like it and refuses the file type...
i then converted it to an mp3 file however when i play this in itunes audio works fine however none of the chapters nor images show up ?
Am i doing this correctly ?
basically what i want to know is how do i upload a file so that not only my audio works but also my chapters and images also that i have created ?
Really hope someone can help !!
    cheers,

    Podcast.com only supports mp3 files at 192 kb/s and 44.1khz sampling rate:
    http://www.mypodcast.com/faq-CanI_upload_files_ofot-92.html
You cannot add chapters to an mp3 file, the format doesn't allow it. If you want to make an 'enhanced podcast' in m4a format with chapters and chapter images you will need to find another host. Your ISP may offer web space, though you would need to check that it can serve m4a files; if you sign up with MobileMe you can host the files there without problems.
