Podcast info on ipod touch?

Hey guys,
Is there a way to bring up Podcast Info (the "i" under iTunes) to display show notes etc.? Just got my touch but cannot find out how to do this.
Also, there is just one FastForward speed correct? On a hour long podcast it is difficult to FF say a minute or 2.
Thanks,
RB

Ah! Thank you. I didn't even realize you could FF during a podcast without grabbing the scrubber.
Thanks

  • Detailed podcast info on iPod touch

I recently upgraded from an iPod classic to an iPod touch. On my classic, I can get more detailed info on my podcasts by pressing the button on the scroll wheel. Is there a similar function on the iPod touch to get more detailed information about a podcast other than just title? Thank you.

    No.
However, I've two points to add to that.
    1. You might wish to send in some product feedback asking for this - I have. Go to http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipodtouch.html and select "feedback type" as *Enhancement Request.*
    2. One or two Podcast producers (Touch users, I suspect) have obviously realised that this is an issue on the Touch since they have begun adding the detailed info to the Lyrics field of the episode.
When you see the scrubber bar and the email and *playback speed* icons, the "Lyrics" field is also displayed. But of course, if there are no lyrics, you wouldn't realise this. But once you find a Podcast like this, you'll know! Unfortunately, we cannot copy and paste the detailed info from the information box into the lyrics field.
That aside, I prefer the Touch over the Classic for Podcast listening because you can see the episode time _in the episode list and before you start it playing_ and part-played episodes have the half-blue-dot and remaining time showing, which the Classic doesn't. Not only that, Podcasts play back in correct date order (the Classic is infamous for not doing that) and to pay one episode at a time, simply add the Podcast to the *On-The-Go Playlist.*

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all media and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • Do I have to purchase a podcast app to play podcasts on my iPod/Touch?

I'm new to the iPod Touch.  I have used an iPod Nano.  I restored the iPod and now the Podcast app icon is missing.  My iTunes is synched with my Touch and the podcasts show up in the iTunes, but there's no way to open a podcast on the iPod Touch without an app icon.  Do I have to purchase an app for Podcasts?

Not quite sure why Tech101 assumed you meant only video Podcasts when you said Podcasts! (The Video/Podcasts menu will display only video Podcasts. the Podcasts menu will display both!)
However, as Bob Harris says, if you look on the Music menu and select More, you will see the Podcasts section. Note also, the Edit button at the top left of the More screen. Edit will allow you to move the Podcast button to the bottom of the Music screen (if you wish).
But there is one more thing. When the iPod is connected to iTunes, check (in iTunes) the Device/Podcasts pane to make sure the Sync Podcasts is set to the options you want. That could be why there are none on your Touch, which iTunes will recognise as a different iPod to the Nano, so don't assume that it will keep the same settings as it did for the Nano.

  • How do I get podcasts on my iPod touch 4th gen

I tried to get a podcast on y iPod T4. It the  prompted me to download the Podcasts app, but since the Podcasts app requires iOS 7 and the iPod T4 can only get iOS 6.1 I can't get podcasts.

Assuming you sync your iPod Touch to iTunes on your personal computer, you can do a few tricks via iTunes.
Download the podcasts to iTunes on your personal computer.
    Move them into a Playlist.
Select all the podcasts in the Playlist and Get Info (Command-I)
You will get a dialog with an "Options" tab.
Under Options change the "Media Kind" from "Podcast" to "Music"
Now in iTunes, arrange to sync that playlist to your iPod Touch.
After you sync with iTunes, you will have a playlist on your iPod Touch that is your podcasts that can be played just like a music playlist, one podcast after another will be played in the order they are arranged in the playlist.
NOTE:  If you DO NOT normally sync with iTunes on your personal computer, then be aware that the first sync generally erases the stuff on your iPod Touch, so do not do this without thinking about it.
NOTE 2: When you change the podcast Media Kind to "Music" the podcast will move from the iTunes "Podcast" list to the "Music" list.  When it is time to refresh the playlist with new podcasts, it is best to reverse the Media Kind back to Podcast so the old podcasts are not now sitting in your iTunes Music section.
Yes this is a pain to do, but it is also a way to get a random selection of podcasts to play one after another without your needing to mess with your iPod Touch.  Very good for long driving trips where you cannot take your hands off the wheel to mess with your iPod Touch.

  • Podcast on my iPod Touch 4 That iTunes Doesn't See!

I'll try to make this short:
I "create" a lot of my own "podcasts" - basically stuff I don't want mixed in with my music.
I edit the properties in Windows by right clicking on "Properties" and changing everything there.
    Paragraph 3:
When I am ready to put the "podcast" on my iPod, I open iTunes, and copy the file into the Music folder of the iTunes Library.  Next, I right click on the newly added file, click the Info item, which opens up a dialog box where I can change the title, artist name, track #, just about anything.  I can also make it part of a compliation and a podcast under the Options tab.
At that point, the file disappears from music and reappears in the Podcast folder of the iTunes library.  From there I am able to copy the "podcast" directly to the Podcasts folder of my Touch 4.
However, with this particular file, when it was still in the Music folder of iTunes I was not able to make any changs after going into Info.  All options were, as they say, grayed out.  I did discover that I could copy the file directly to the Podcast folder of the iPod itself, visible via iTunes.  Success!  But wait - there's more!
I later made some edits to the original file on my PC, and wanted to put it in iTunes and on my touch.  This time I was able to complete the procedure in Paragraph 3, and copy it to my Touch's Podcasts folder.  Alas, I now have that podcast on my Touch twice, even tough iTunes sees it only ONCE.
So my question is: Is there any way to delete the instance of the podcast that I do NOT want on the touch, while leaving the corrected version on there?

    Did yo do this?
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Did it start after updating iTunes on the computer?

  • I can't delete an mp3 with it's 'media kind' changed to podcast on my Ipod touch since the Itunes 11.4 update

When I download long mp3 talk shows and place them on my Ipod touch I change their media kind to podcast to take advantage of the 2x speed and 30sec jump back. I have a smart playlist on my Ipod that shows all podcasts on the Ipod. Once I have listened to them I would normally attach my Ipod and highlight the file in the podcast smart playlist and then shift+del and the file is deleted from my Ipod.
Since the 11.4 update of Itunes there has been some alteration of this function. I can no longer shift+del the files from my Ipod. The ONLY way I can delete them is to change their 'media kind' back to mp3 and then shift+del them. This is a massive pain. Why must Itunes be messed up by every update.
A previous update rendered these mp3 media kind changed to podcast unplayable on your Ipod if you have 'skip when shuffling' checked...
I have an Ipod Touch 4th gen 32gb. I am running Itunes with windows XP.

    Have you tried:

  • Podcast category for iPod Touch does not show in iTunes

When connecting my iPod Touch to iTunes, the "Podcasts" category no longer appears in the sidebar under "Devices". The category DOES appear under the Library portion of the sidebar, however. I prefer to manage and sync my podcasts manually within iTunes, but I now have no way of removing old podcasts from my iPod.
I'm running iTunes 10.0.1.22 under Windows XP and my iPod Touch 3rd generation is running iOS 4.0.

  • HT203175 I just copied a podcast to my iPod touch and the show I copied has the  'chasing arrows' symbol and I can not get it to play. What do I do?

A podcast copied to my iPod touch showing the"chasing arrows' symbol. It won't play; how do I access it?

If it is still under warranty you can call the 800 number to apple and enter the serial number and it will tell you if it is under warranty or not if not its like $30 basically for them to help or something like that it said today when i called...
Or take it to a genius bar if you have one near?
Or further explain what setting you are needing fixed back and im sure someone here can help you for free!

  • Podcasts removed from iPod Touch and not synchronised

I downloaded several podcasts (A-Z Climbing) directly to my iPod Touch via iTunes and watched them with no problems; however, as soon as I connected and synched my iPod all the episodes were removed and iTunes now refuses to put them back because it says they are incompatible! I watched them, so how can they be incompatible!
I'm presuming its because they are HD, but why restrict access if they work?
The only time I will ever watch these is if I'm travelling, I don't want to sit and watch them on my PC at home.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers

You cannot.  That is the point fo a passcode.
    You will have to restore.

  • Video podcast syncs to iPod touch, but can't be found afterwards?

I have a number of podcasts on my iTunes. When these sync to my 3rd Generation IPOD Touch, the audio podcasts show up in the podcast list on the IPOD, but I have to search for the video podcasts as they are not on in any of the folders. This started happening when I upgraded to ios 5. Does anynoe else have this problem? Is there a fix?

Did you check under Videos icon instead of under Music icon?

  • Podcast Hyperlinks on iPod Touch

Apple sales have confirmed that hyperlinks on a podcast can be activated on an iPod Touch running software 3.0. Easier said than done so far.
Having produced many different podcasts, all with music, photographs and hyperlinks and exported to iTunes the iPod will play the podcast, but not reference the links (yes, it is being used in a WiFi zone).
I've exported to iTunes, to desktop, to iWeb (and RSS fed) back into iTunes but still, no hyperlinks.
Any successful attempts been made out there?
Any steps I may have missed?

As I don't have an iPod Touch I can't specifically answer for that (you could try its forum): but where are these hyperlinks? Do they appear when you use iTunes on your Mac? Your feed can contain a link to your web page which will show on the iTunes Store page for your podcast: but Description and Summary tags should be plain text only and html and links won't show in iTunes, even on the Mac. It's possible that if this is what you are trying to do Apple misunderstood your question and thought you were referring to the link which appears on the Store page - I don't know how or whether that appears on the Touch.

  • Secure WiFi Network Requires "Physical Address" Info From iPod Touch

The Marina where I keep my boat has just installed a WiFi network for the slip holders. They are a little nuts about security, and decided to go a different route than WPA style passwords. They are using the physical address of each device to authorize access to the network.
How can I find the physical address of my Touch? I tried WiFI Address in settings, and no go. I found it on my G4 PB using this sequence: Apple Menu > About This Mac > More Info > Network > Locations > Airport > Hardware (MAC) Address:
    Thanks.

To answer your question, you can find your own iPod touch's MAC address yourself. It is found under:
Settings: General: About: (scoll down a bit!): Wi-Fi Address = XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX
(BTW: While you're at it, tell your "nuts" Marina's IT security manager that MAC address filtering is easliy cracked - maybe not by an iPod, but easily with a laptop. They should use WPA2 encryption for a million times better security, and not bother with SSID-hiding, nor MAC address filtering at all. I don't expect he'll listen to you though! IT mangers seem to think they know everything better than anybody! )

  • ITunes Can't Find Podcasts on my iPod Touch

Since I upgraded to OS3.0 on my Touch, I have been unable to keep track of my Podcasts in iTunes (both 8 & 9). This has persisted despite upgrading my Touch to 3.1.1 and iTunes to 9.0.1.8. iTunes only finds 16 podcasts, even though I have 76 - so I can't delete any. (I do not sync my podcasts because there are more in iTunes than I want on my Touch.) Any thoughts how to get iTunes to accurately read my Touch? I know the podcasts are therebecause I can play them, and MusicRescue identifies and copies all of them. Why can't iTunes? It doesn't make sense, but it's been a problem for about 2 months, now. My music files appear to all be OK.

The problem appears to be with the Touch - because when I checked my iPod Classic, all of the podcasts are found by iTunes.
