Podcast library non-functional since upgrade

Hi,
Seven days ago, I updated iTunes. For two days(Sunday and Monday), iTunes would not start, saying it could not find my library (which is on an external hard drive). On Wednesday, it found my library, but not my podcasts. On Thursday, it found my podcasts, but they were no longer sorted the same way- they looked more like my music list. All the settings are set for podcast, but they do not sync as podcasts, nor do they update. I even tried re-subscribing to a couple, and the files look the same as the older ones. I have deleted all iTunes/Quicktime, et cetera, reinstalled, and the same thing happens. Apple care hasn't a clue. Does anyone else know about this issue?

I do not mean the entire ITunes folder but, rather, the contents of the ITunes folder prior to September 29th. (90% of the media is missing, along with all playlists) The media that remains says it was added on 9/29 although I know most of it was added many months or even years earlier. There are no playlists listed at all, before or after 9/29. (I know for certain that I added non-iTunes purchased songs on 10/6 although I had not created playlists for them)
I have my iTunes folder backed up on both an external drive as well as Time Machine.
I run iTunes off of an ITunes folder on my computer rather than from the external, if that's what you mean about how I have it set up.
Is it OK to drag the entire iTunes folder from the external drive onto my laptop's drive and see if that fixes it?

Full Screen slide show not functional since upgrading Graphics card??

Just upgraded to a geforce fx 5200 graphics card...now the individual full screen pic or the full screen slideshow will not function. Get Fatal Error C0000005 at Address: 6e310c01. Dumps me out of Photoshop album starter edition 3.0. I have about 1000 images in multiple groups, files, email shares, etc and need to be able to get back to functionality. This has occurred since installing the graphics card mentioned. Is the newer 3.2 version an "upgrade" to 3.0. If I download it will it overwrite the existing version and still have all of my photos in place? It's an option I am considering to try to get back to properly functioning. ANY I repeat ANY help would be appreciated...THANKS....

I have a Geforce FX5500 card & updated the driver for it, why I have no idea! Anyway the slideshow came up with some sort of major error & as I already knew using bang up to date graphics card driver stops certain old games working I rolled back the driver from the 23/4/08 (approx) version to driver version 6.14.10.9371 dated 22/10/06. Different card I know but an older driver may sort it.

Iphoto library files changed since upgrade

Since I upgraded to 6.0.5 my iphoto library isn't sorting as it use to. I use to go to photos>iphotolibrary>year>month>date>title. But now I get to iphoto library>year and now it no longer has month date and title. It show originals, and rolls. Is there anyway to change this back to searching by date. Please help me, I'm a bit frustrated thanks.

Dave E is correct, the library file is updated when you upgrade to v6 and can no longer be read by earlier versions. There are also changes, as you've noticed, in the layout of the iPhoto Library Folder:
In this folder there are various files, which are the Library itself and some ancillary files. Then you have three folders
Originals are the photos as they were downloaded from your camera or scanner.
(ii) Modified contains edited pics, shots that you have cropped, rotated or changed in any way.
This allows the Photos -> Revert to Original command - very useful if you don't like the changes you've made.
(iii) Data holds the thumbnails the the app needs to show you the photos in the iPhoto Window.
iPhoto is designed so that you never need to go to the iPhoto Library Folder. Everything you need to do can be done via the iPhoto Window, and should be. Dave E has given some tips as to how to achieve some things, and if you need more, feel free to post again.
It is strongly advised that you do not move, change or in anyway alter things in the iPhoto Library Folder as this can cause the application to fail and even lead to data loss.

Can't find the Organize Bookmarks function since upgrading to 4

Just upgraded to Firefox 4 and find there is no "Organize Bookmarks" function under "Bookmarks" anymore.

Apple remote not fully functional since upgrading to Lion

I've found that since Lion no longer has Front Row, the Apple Remote functionality has been diminished. As I don't have an Apple TV, what good is it now for me to have one? I used Front Row to watch my movies but now this doesn't work. Trolling the intoonet doesn't bring up anything apart from how to restore Front Row. Anyone come up with a similar issue or a solution?

Thanks again but I have no peripheral devices connected. It's very annoying whenever I close the lid the logo stays lit and the computer does not go to sleep (light on front stays solid white). Each time it happens I have to open and close the lid 3-4 times before it finally goes to sleep. It's as if the computer gets hung up trying to go to sleep.

I have upgraded to ITUNES 11, however I cannot move music from my lubrary to my IPOD Touch.I have tries the ADD TO option and all seems to work, but not visable on my IPOD

D-Link dns-323 non-functional after upgrading to latest OSX

I have a apple airport extreme network, macbook pro, and ipad.
My DNS-323 in which is in RAID1 configuration worked great until latest upgrade to OSX.
Now my devices do not recognize the DNS323 at all.
I am at a loss. I have 12 years of photos and videos on that drive.
Any troubleshooting ideas appreciated

A slow boot time can be caused by login items.
User Login Items:

    Gmail Notifr
Open System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items
Remove one login item noted above then restart your Mac to test. It may be one or multiple items causing the slow boot.

Since upgrading to iOS 7.0 on my 3G iPad I have been unable to send SMS's, is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Thanks everyone, I thought that I had lost some functionality since upgrading as I can only send messages via iMessage and in our household there are 4 iOS devices and whenever anyone sends a message they do not receive the reply but it does come up on my iPad ( I don't always carry my iPad) so it can be hours before realising that the message has been received. The only solution I have is to turn off iMessage on the iPad and then everyone receives their messages normally.

Since upgrading to 10.7 and 10.7.2 I can no longer go "home", "library"...etc. What is the setting to turn this back on?

In OS X 10.6.8, if I were in the Finder, I could click on GO, the click on HOME and it would display a list of places I could go, one of which was my "library" folder. Since the upgrade to 10.7 and 10.7.2, I cannot do this. There is nothing after Home except Applicatations, Desktop, Docs, Downloads, movies, music, picures, public, and sites. Opened all of those and no library anywhere. I have to think this is the result of a setting which hides library to protect it from non savvy users. I've been doing maintenance from that folder forever. Please help.

Click GO from Finder and hold down the Option key. You'll see the Library folder in the list. Or you can click GO and select Go To Folder and type ~/Library. This will open the user\Library folder.

Some Podcasts not working since upgrading to 1.2

Ever since I upgraded my IPOD to version 1.2, I have found that some podcasts which I subscribe to no longer work. It downloads and transfers to my IPOD OK, but when I go to play it my IPOD shuts down then eventually restarts. So far it seems to happen with KCRW's the Treatment, Creative Screenwriting & WFUV podcasts. I know I could probably restore it back to the previous version but I'd rather not as I have already paid for a game which I know only works with the new functionality (plus I like playing it). Anyone else found this?

There's another thread about this somewhere - many people have had this problem. I've had it with the Creative Screenwriting podcasts, which are the only ones to which I subscribe.
The thread proposed a workaround - start the podcast not at the beginning but one second in. You have to select the podcast, then I think do a Get Info or something - there's some way to find Options, then Start Time, then input 1 or 2 seconds in (with the CS Podcasts, this is fine, since Jeff tends to yakk on for at least two minutes before the interviews begin!)
I've not yet tried it, but it seems to have solved problems on the other thread, accepted as a workaround until Apple fixes it.

Upgraded, Podcast library now says it's 3x larger

I upgraded yesterday, everything went smoothly, EXCEPT, my iTunes library has mysteriously grown. My music library is now about 70GB larger, and my podcast library went from about 26GB to 71GB. I have a separate hard drive just for music, 232GB formatted, and there's now way that 371GB that iTunes says is there is fitting on a 232GB hard drive.
I looked in my iTunes folder for any duplicates, and I see none.
Any ideas as to why my library mushroomed?

Apple support help fixed this problem. Seems that all you have to do is to recreate your library. The Apple article 93313 explains how to fix this ( see http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93313 ). Quick and easy fix

Since upgrading to ML, the trackpad handwriting function doesn't work on my macbook air late 2010

Hi All,
I've run into an interesting problem lately. I have several macs in my home and two in particular (the imac and mba) that my parents use had Chinese Handwriting enabled via trackpad. However, since upgrading to Mountain Lion from Lion, those macs have an issue with enabling the Trackpad Handwriting option.
First off, I started to troubleshoot the issue with the iMac. After some fiddling around by turning the function on/off it seems to be fixed. I then went ahead and attempted to perform the same "fiddling" and steps on my macbook air (late 2010), and it just doesnt seem to work. The funny thing is, if I try enable it with the keyboard shortcut, the system seems to acknowledge the shortcut and displays an option in the menu bar to hide the trackpad as shown in the picture. But there's no Trackpad Handwriting to to be seen on the screen. I've even tried resetting the PRAM and SMC with no success. Any solutions?

Try swiping down with two fingers. This solved my problem.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand the need for all of your calendars to be up to date across all of your devices and how frustrating it can be when they are not syncing as you would expect. In this situation I would suggest reading over and using the attached article for troubleshooting.

I've also had the same issues, after upgrading to IOS 6.0, the apps in my iPhone 4 were crashing and the battery life run out very fast.
The only solution worked for me was to remove all mail accounts (Exchange/Gmail) from my iPhone (in settings) and then add them back.
The crashing were stopped! also the battery was back to normal.
I found the solution by first looking at the crash logs (in IOS 6). you can find them at Settings -> General -> About (at the bottom of the About menu you will find the option that opens the logs).
There i saw many logs about Low Memory crash. 99% of the logs were pointed that the largest process (use the most memory) during the crashes is "dataaccessd".
I search in the web and found that this process is a deamon process that reponsible the Mail accounts (like Exchange/Gmail) and contancts list.
I've installed the app "System Status - activity monitor" which shows important system info like CPU usage, Memory usage and running processes.
Before apply my solution (deleting the mail accounts) i saw that the CPU usage was very high which consume the battery very fast. Also i saw that the memory (RAM) was run out.. which probably what cause the crashing..
After deleting the mail accounts (at Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars) i check again with the System Status app, and saw that the memory and CPU were back to normal.
Adding the mail accounts back, still everything work ok
