Podcast Library problem

I'm having a problem with my iTunes. It does not sync my 1UP Yours podcasts into the podcast library.
I've removed them and added them back, but it just lumps it into my library and it does not show up in the podcast directory.
Help?

I DL'd one episode and it went to podcasts OK, not to my main library.
Try this, do a Get Info on one and go to the Options tab. Can you choose Media Kind = podcast?

  • ITunes freezes when i try to open Podcasts library

Every time i click on Podcasts library, the app freezes!

    try these user tips:
try removing the Genius database. In the "Finder" go to the /username/Music/iTunes/ folder and delete the "iTunes Library Genius.itdb" file. This may allow the program to launch again. This file will be recreated upon first use of the "Genius" feature.
and, if you have flip4mac installed
I found that the TSLicense plugin was causing the problem.
    From the log:
    PlugIn Path: /Library/Frameworks/TSLicense.framework/Versions/A/TSLicense
    PlugIn Identifier: net.telestream.license
This pIugin is installed with the Flip4Mac Windows Media Components. I solved the problem by uninstalling the WM Components via the uninstaller at /Applications/Flip4Mac/Flip4Mac WMV Uninstaller.pkg, after which iTunes opens successfully.

  • Strange 'Unknown Album' listings in ATV Podcasts library

    Hello,
I'm new to the Apple TV and have just come across this strange problem of 'Unknown Album' listings in my ATV Podcasts library.
I converted four TV programmes to .m4v and moved them first into my iTunes Movies folder on my iMac. Only my Photos are 'synced'- the other library stuff is streamed to my ATV.
I later tagged the four converted TV Programmes in the iTunes Get Info/Video Kind box as TV Shows, and discovered that this created the 'TV Shows' folder in my iTunes Library and this folder now contained the four TV programmes. They also appeared under 'TV Shows' on my Apple TV and play fine. They no longer appear in the ATV's Movies listing.
However I also discovered that I now have four 'Unknown Albums' in my ATV Podcasts library, and these are the same four TV shows referred to above, which can also be played from the ATV Podcast library. These 'Unknown Albums' are not in my iTunes Podcast library. So I can't delete them, and I don't know how they got there in the first place.
Does anyone know what I've done wrong here, and how I can fix it?
    Thanks.

I don't think it has anything to do with the way they were converted. I used Handbrake for some and VisualHub for others. I only mentioned the conversion to give as complete a background to the issue as possible.
Maybe it has something to do with how they were imported into iTunes, or what I did/didn't do while tagging them with 'Get Info'. I'm not a great fan of iTunes, but not too familiar with it either. But the content appears and plays fine in iTunes. Only ATV shows these ghostly 'Unknown Albums'.

  • Podcasts not showing in ipod podcast library

Since getting my new PC and transferring my library across my podcasts no longer show within the Podcast library on my ipod, they do show correctly on iTunes, they are only shown in the music library which is hardly convenient.
I have updated my ipod software to the latest version to see if that corrected it but it hasnt, I have reset the ipod settings on the player itself and that hasnt made any difference.
My movies, music videos and TV shows all show as snormal just not the podcasts.
Anyone else come across this? Anyone else got any suggestions on how to fix this, or know how to resolve this issue?

Recheck the podcast settings the next time you connect to your PC. Sometimes the setting defaults back to not syncing any podcasts. This happened to me once. For no reason I couldn't get my podcasts loaded on my ipod. I checked my settings and I had to reset it. No problems since then.

When I try to play Podcasts from my Podcast Library I receive a general system error. This happens when I try to play from any option eg "All episiodes", "by Title"  "by published date" etc.Podcasts title come up but selecting them leads to the general system error message.
I  can play downloaded podcasts from the "podcasting" section where I have downloaded them.
This thread tells how to delete Tracks and Album Art from Music Library but does not mention podcasts
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=topfaq&thread.id=106
Trying to delete through the option menu only gives the error message.
Any idea how to delete the Podcast Libray information?
Any other ideas how to solve this?
    Thanks

I had a similar problem - I had previously deleted podcasts (removed via mass storage mode - oops) that were still listed in the Music library>Podcasts that wouldn't go away. Trying to delete them via the phone gave a "General system error" warning.
    First I tried :
    @romainb
    >* Firstly, connect your phone to a PC via USB.
    >* Choose Data Transfer (a.k.a. Mass Storage). Do not select PC Suite because you won’t be >able to browse protected folders in PC Suite mode.
    >* Open Windows Explorer on your PC.
    >* Go to \private\101FFC31 on the phone’s folder.
    >* There, you should be able to find the mpxv1.mpd (for MP3) and pcv5.mpd (for AUDIO >PODCAST)
    >* Goto \private\101f8857\Cache
    >* Goto \private\101ffca9
    >* In all the 3 folders delete all the files Not the FOLDER
    >* Now refresh ur music library
Nothing changed or at least I've not yet found out what changed...
    Then I tried:
    @ XploitMachine
    >- Open Windows Explorer
    >- Open E:\Private folder
    >- Open 101ffca9 Folder
    >- Delete harvesterdb.dat file
    >- Delete the E:\Private\10281e17
    >- Disconnect phone from PC
    >- Turn device OFF then ON back again
except that I didn't turn the phone on/off (missed that bit) just opened the music library. Phone checked for new music and podcasts.... Yay! Everything back into it's proper place and no more phantom podcasts.
    Thank you!

  • Upgraded, Podcast library now says it's 3x larger

I upgraded yesterday, everything went smoothly, EXCEPT, my iTunes library has mysteriously grown. My music library is now about 70GB larger, and my podcast library went from about 26GB to 71GB. I have a separate hard drive just for music, 232GB formatted, and there's now way that 371GB that iTunes says is there is fitting on a 232GB hard drive.
I looked in my iTunes folder for any duplicates, and I see none.
Any ideas as to why my library mushroomed?

Apple support help fixed this problem. Seems that all you have to do is to recreate your library. The Apple article 93313 explains how to fix this ( see http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93313 ). Quick and easy fix

  • Podcast Library feed address is slow connecting

Has anyone else had this problem since upgrading their server to 10.6.5? In Server admin when I click on the Podcast Library URL, it takes about 5 minutes before I can see the page. Not sure if it was this way before 10.6.5 but I have not gotten complaints until now.

I am having the same problem, on some machines. I deleted the PCP Library Caches, and the problem was fixed, BUT, now some machines can't authenticate.

  • Descriptions in Podcast library all of a sudden gone

I've been uploading podcasts for the past few months. The Revolving Door. (http://revolvingdoorpodcast.wordpress.com/). When I uploaded my latest podcast, all of the descriptions went away. If I go to my podcast page in the iTunes store, the descriptions are all there. However, the description does not show up in the Podcast Library. I'm not talk about the most recent descriptions aren't showing up. None of the descriptions are showing up. This has never happened before. I have tried unsubscribing and subscribing again. I've also checked the RSS feed the podcast comes from, but the problem doesn't appear to be there. Please help.

Something odd is going on: it looks like Feedburner strikes again - other people have had problems with it. The iTunes Store page found by searching or using the link has the first episode at the bottom and shows the summaries. The feed is said to be at http://feeds.feedburner.com/RevolvingDoorsPodcast - submitting this to FeedValidator shows the summaries but has the first episode at the top: it also highlights a few oddities:
    http://www.feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=feed%3A%2F%2Ffeeds.feedburner.com%2FR evolvingDoorsPodcast
The Feedburner page at http://feeds.feedburner.com/RevolvingDoorsPodcast shows the first episode at the top: the 'View xml' link from there:
    feed://feeds.feedburner.com/RevolvingDoorsPodcast?format=xml
shows the first episode at the bottom.
Subscribing in iTunes, either from the Store page or using the 'Advanced' menu, has the first episode at the bottom and as you say no summaries.
So what is going on between Wordpress and Feedburner I don't know: it looks as if there are two versions of the feed floating about, one in reverse order: Feedburner may be serving up different versions dependent on what is calling it. If they have a help line you might get an answer there.

  • Video Podcast Playback Problem

I have an issue where a single video podcast cannot be found by the iPod app on my iPhone.
+ The video Podcast is downloaded to my PowerBook's iTunes Podcast library and will play from there.
+ The video podcast in question is checked.
+ The iTunes and iPhones settings are correct, other video podcasts download and play.
+ When I sync the iPhone I can see the podcast is being downloaded to my iPhone in iTunes.
+ I've tried resubscribing and have looked at the file details on my PowerBook and it doesn't differ from any other video podcast.
The problem is that when I open the iPod app on the iPhone and click Podcasts the podcast is not listed. It is only true for this one podcast. Others, like The Onion video podcast are listed and play.
Searching the iPhone from the top level the iPhone finds the video podcast by name so it is for sure on the phone. Clicking on it starts playback like any other video podcast, but there is only a blank screen.
One workaround I found was to create a playlist on my PowerBook that contains podcasts. If I do this then the podcast can be played on the iPhone from this playlist and from the top level search. This is a workaround though and I would like to understand why the iPod app can't seem to find this one podcast.
    Thank you for your help.

This problem was fixed with the iPhone 3.1 software release. For those who are curious the video podcasts that were not showing up were from SnapStream's Beyond TV.

  • How can I move an mp3 podcast from music to podcast library?

I am downloading archived podcasts manually and when I import them into iTunes they show up in my music list. How can I get them into my podcast library?

If so, not good, you can transfer itunes purchases from the ipod.  File>Devies>Transfer Purchases

  • I have purchased podcasts on itunes and they show up in the podcast library, but when I sync my ipod touch they will not go on to the ipod itself? any help?

I have purchased podcasts on itunes and they show up in the podcast library,
but when I sync my ipod touch they will not go on to the ipod itself?
    any help?

Are you positive these podcasts are configured to sync to your iPod Touch? Have you double checked the configuration for podcasts from under the iPod's Podcasts configuration tab in iTunes?
To access this tab, plug your iPod in and click on its name from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes.  This will bring you to the iPod's Summary tab.  Locate the Podcasts tab along the top and select it. Here you can choose how and what podcasts sync to your iPod.

  • How to upload podcasts which are not in the iTunes podcast library?

or how to create a playlist of podcasts?
I have some podcasts as mp3 files I'd like to upload. These podcasts are not in the Itunes podcast library. I downloaded them from another source. What I do not understand is why iTunes makes a difference between podcast mp3 files and music mp3 files. If I put my podcasts into a playlist and try to synchronise the playlist with iPhone, the files are not uploaded. Actually I do not see the playlist listed in the page "Music" of my device "iPhone".
    Any ideas?

I've usually found using outer joins to be very efficient in performing NOT IN/NOT EXIST type operations.

  • The missing library problem.

I understand that there's already a lot of threads about the sudden disappearance of iTunes libraries, however I'm typing this up because I'd like to point out in a bit more detail what I'm seeing happening to my computer, and maybe have a collective of what's going on. This issue has happened to me five times in the last two months since I've updated to iTunes 11. After searching on google I know the missing library problem has existed since the early 2000s; why this glitch has yet to be fixed 13 years later is beyond me. I have personally never had this problem until updating to 11, and seeing the many other threads on here this appears to me to be an issue with this version of the software more than it has been in previous versions.
Before I continue, I have tried the following to fix it:
Simply readded my whole library. It was only wiped again a few weeks later.
Completely uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes. That didn't work either, so it's not just an updating problem.
    What I haven't tried
Changing where on my computer iTunes is installed. I have no idea where on the computer might be better or if it will change anything. I have iTunes installed on its default location on my local C: disk.
Importing the music directly from my iPod into iTunes. Can this be done? If so, how? Not everything on my iTunes is a store purchase, most of it is imported CDs and also amazon purchases too. So I don't know if the transfer purchases option works. While this wouldn't fix this current issue, I would like to know how to do this if possible since it would just be a quick fix whenever this happens.
    What is happening:
So each time this has happened, what occurs is that like many other people, one day I open my iTunes and everything is in order. Then the next, for no reason, all of my libraries are gone but the music is still on my computer, organized in their files the way iTunes had them done so upon importing. I can't use the .itl files in the "previous libraries" folder because they have also been re-written. Upon opening them, even if their last save was on a day I know everything was in working order, opening them does nothing but give me the same blank default page.
What isn't mentioned in a lot of the posts regarding this issue, is the sudden crop of temporary files in the iTunes folder.
The ones that have cropped up for me personally are the following:
    iT 1.tmp
    iT 2.tmp
    iT 3.tmp
    iT 4.tmp
    Temp file 1.tmp
    Temp file 2. tmp
Those were not there the last time I used iTunes, and they're never there on the days I've used it before and it has worked correctly. However every time my library is wiped, these files suddenly appear without fail, every time. I can't open them, I can't do anything with them except delete them. I believe I remember reading somewhere that this might be an issue regarding with how the program is saving the progress of your library changing, and that the temp files are there until it can "officially" save what has happened to your library. While I didn't change anything in my library in the last couple of weeks, I'm assuming this also counts things like play count.
    My own personal opinion
Seeing just how many threads with this issue are popping up, this leads me to believe that this isn't just a problem with my personal computer or my personal install of iTunes 11. These temp files also lead me to believe that as well. In other words, whatever glitch has existed with iTunes since the early 2000s is for some reason running rampant in version 11.
    TL;DR:
Please developers, actually look at this library glitch within the program itself. It can't just be an individual user's problem because way too many people are experiencing it.

No worries. You've probably run into one the other threads I've posted to but I'll add my thoughts here anyway...
    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping.  Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
Alternatively, depending on exactly when and why the library went missing, there may be a more recent .tmp file in the main iTunes folder that can be copied and renamed as iTunes Library.itl to restore the library to an earlier state. Look for a recent .tmp file that is similar in size to the .itl files in the Previous iTunes Libraries folder. If it has happened repeatedly you may want the earliest such file generated since the last iTunes upgrade.
If applicable, see iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
I've noticed more of these missing library posts of late and a common factor to most since I started asking is AVG Anti-Virus. It seems in some cases it might be at least part of the reason why the library file disappears. Try excluding the iTunes folder from any AV scanning process.

  • How do I manually import a .mov file and add it to my podcast library?

    Hi all,
I'm a fan of "theshow" by zefrank and when I finally discovered it was available via iTunes, I subscribed. However, iTunes does not pick up all the early episodes.
I found that I could download them onto my desktop as .mov files - but I can't seem to get them into my Podcasts library - only the Movies library.
    Any advice?
    TIA.

    BUMP
On the same note, I have some podcasts that are listed in iTunes (and exist in the ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Podcasts folder) but will not play. I can play them via the Finder though.
Is there any way to tell iTunes where the files are? (I thought we used to be able to do this in previous versions.)
