Podcast Library Wiped Out

Several times when I started ITUNES for Windows it gives me a message about my Library being unreadable (not the exact words) then completes startup. All my music is ok but the podcasts in my library have all been erased. It has saved them in a newly generated PODCAST restored playlist but all the entries in the Library podcast's are gone so I have to resubscribe to all the podcasts I desire. Any ideas?

  • Nano library wiped out

Help..all the music on my sons 2nd gen Nano has been wiped out. When we attempt to sync it back up, we get an error message that says "Songs on the ipod Jakes Ipod cannot be synced because all the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist."
The songs are still on the library and are all checked..but they won't load because of the above error message.

    See this user tip.

For versions of iTunes from 7 onwards, the option to "update selected playlists" is now under the "music" tab in the summary screen.

  • IPod library wiped out

I was downloading some video podcasts from iTunes when it quit by itself. I went back into iTunes and found that the podcasts were still downloading normally. However, after this happened, I found that all the music and videos that I had synced from my computer were missing. The ones that I downloaded straight from the iPad itself are still there. Anyone experienced the same problem?

  • ITunes Library wiped out after software update - Pls help !

I set my iMac periodically runs auto software update, and after I run iTunes 6.0.5 (20) software update, I opened iTunes and a warning message says, "Files moved to iTunes Library Damaged 1", and the library is empty !!
On further search, when I go into HD, a folder "iTunes Library" seem to have those previous songs. Looking thru the files, it seems as though they are all the songs I lost. Can I load these songs back to the iTunes Library, which is empty right now? Or are these damaged files?
FYI - I previously had iLife'05, but thru periodic software updates, iTunes is now version 6.0.5 (20). Is this compatible with the specs of my mac?
Kind of mad, b/c I literally just purchased songs and did not back them up....
Any help or advice is welcome.
    Thanks!

The first tip is to turn off the auto update features. The Mac OS will still go look but will ask you if you wnat to install. It is usually a good idea to wait a week or so after an update see what problems others are having.
You tunes files are ok - it is the "iTunes Library" and the "iTunes Music ....xml" that are damaged. These are data base files that work with iTunes and other programs so they know where to go look if a program needs to use something in iTunes.
When you open iTunes the 2 noted files above will be located in HD>User>Music>iTunes. you can just "add" the tunes back into the library and it should be ok. Note that you will lose your old info such as "date added" etc.
You can go to the Apple Store online and select the Apple Software option to see the system requirements for iLife06.

  • Library wiped out with 7.7 - How to recover

I recently upgrade to iTunes 7.7 and now my library in iTunes is not accessable and shows empty in iTunes. I still have everything on my iPod and I can have verified that all of the CDs I've burned and music I've purchased are still in my iTunes folder. I have also verified the library location is correct in Preference>Advanced.
I tried one of the support topics for "How to re-create your iTunes library", but when I get to the step of dragging the iTunes Music Library.xml to the desktop, I get a message that the xml is corrupt.
    Any suggestions?

    Hey,
My computer did the same thing, although it was playing fine and nothing disappeared until I deleted everything (because I was getting rid of duplicated files on my external hard drive and needed to do a kind of Refresh) tried to set it back on, and now nothing will show up. I've told iTunes to use my external hard drive as its folder since I first downloaded iTunes and it's been fine. But yes, I did the update today and as per usual it screwed everything up. Do you know how to get older versions of iTunes back?

  • ITunes Library Wiped out to Nothing...HELP!

    Hi,
I have had an issue of my mini not being recognized in my iTunes although my library of songs, etc. was intact and all there.
I reinstalled the cd that came with my iPod, which says 'iPod' on the cd.
I think through this reinstallation, I completely erased all that was in my iTunes.
In 'My Music', the iTunes folder has my library on the computer, but even when I click on that folder, it still directs me to an empty library.
Please help me with how to get my library back in iTunes!!
    Thanks, Susan

just checking. have you tried the technique from the following article?
No music shows up in iTunes after upgrading

  • Library wiped out upon startup of computer.

I left my new Ipod Shuffle connected to the computer last night. I turned it off when I went to bed and when I turned the computer back on in the morning the Itunes software came up and all songs in my library except one I had purchased the night before were gone. The only one remaining was the one I had purchased at the website along with fourteen more copies of it. Any help?

Are all your songs still in the usual folder(s) on your computer? Try holding down the Shift key in Windows when launching iTunes 7. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to an existing one. The default location for your iTunes library is in \Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\. Look in there and see if you have more than one library file (they have the extension .itl) If you have more than one try opening them in turn, you may find your original library is still intact: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file

  • Everything on iPod wiped out...now podcasts not updating

A couple days ago I had wanted to add an episode of a podcast to my iPod but wasn't on my XP account. It had downloaded to the XP account I was on, so I figured it would be easier to just update from there instead of logging off and waiting 5 minutes to log onto my account so all the antivirus stuff could load. So I plugged my iPod in and dragged the podcast episode to my iPod in the Source column (it's updated manually). Without warning, iTunes wiped out everything that had been on my iPod and started replacing it with everything on this particular iTunes library. I panicked and quickly unplugged my now empty iPod. I haven't been able to recover any of my songs except some of the podcasts. I downloaded Recover My Files, and it found a good number of the songs, but a) many have been overwritten (whatever that means) and b) it wanted me to pay 70 dollars for an activation code (first time is supposed to be free). Ever since my iPod was wiped out, iTunes has not updated the podcasts, so I manually downloaded the episodes I missed and added them to my library on my XP account. I dragged them to my iPod, and iTunes wiped out every podcast I had salvaged and left just the two I manually downloaded.
    So,
    1. Is there any hope for me to recover my songs?
    2. Why is iTunes not updating my podcasts and wiping out my songs whenever I add new ones to iPod?
    Thanks
ETA: No, I didn't back up my music, it was one of those things I meant to do.

Will the podcasts that can't be found actually play in iTunes on the computer? For the message I would say they will not play because iTunes can't find the actual file.

  • I think I wiped out my library switching to a new computer.

I downloaded iTunes onto my new computer, plugged in my iPod and got my podcasts transferred by all of my music is wiped out.  Including purchases.

Basically, just copy the iTunes music folder to the new computer from the backup drive.

  • ? transfer podcasts ect onto computer after database wiped out

My computer crashed and everything on my database has been wiped out. I am trying to download all my videos and podcasts onto my itunes library which seems to have a couple of songs I do not recognise. It allows for some purchased items to be downloaded but does not download all my stuff from my ipod onto the computer even though I have authorised the computer to accept the data ?

Assuming that all the music that is on your iPod was purchased from iTunes you can navigate to the iTunes store from iTunes and download your music again by clicking on the new 'Purchased' button. If you have music ripped from CD's it will not show up here.  Alternatively you can click iTunes > Preferences (shortcut Command + ,) and then navigate to the second tab that says Sharring.  If you enable sharring of your iTunes library and then click 'Ok' to confirm that you're using this for personal use and not pirating music, then you will get the 'Home Sharing' option on the left hand sidebar of iTunes.  From there you can sign in to home sharing with the same Apple ID that is signed in to the iPod and drag 'n' drop your music from the iPod touch to your iTunes library.

  • My wife purchased some songs from itunes for her iphone.  If I go to sync her ipphone with our itunes library will her purchases be wiped out.  They do not show up in our library on my computer.

My wife purchased some songs for her new iphone from itunes on the phone.  They do not show up in our library on my home computer.  When I go to add new songs to her iphone from my computer are her purchases going to be wiped out.

Is the computer authorized for her iTunes account? If not, sign her in in iTunes and then go up to: Store>Authorize this computer. You say "our library", does that mean she does not have her own computer login? Has she ever synced to this computer/iTunes before? Once she is logged in & the computer authorized for her account, you can transfer purchases on her phone without syncing. With her phone connected, iTunes running: File>Transfer Purchases.

  • I just accidentally wiped out my entire music library.  How can I get apple to help me download the purchased songs again?  The songs went to my recycle bin and I immediately restored them but the files seem to have dissappered!

I just accidentally wiped out my entire music library.  I sent everything to recycling bin and then immediately hit restore all items as I knew what I had just done.  Now I can find where those files went.  Is there anyway Apple can just send me my purchased songs again?

Call the apple store you got it from and ask them. Sometimes in the past they've extended the 'no questions asked return' but only Apple can tell you for sure.

  • My Itunes playlist library got wiped out. I would like to copy all the playlists on my IPOD to the playlist area on Itunes Music but can't drag from my IPOD to that area.

My  Itunes library got wiped out, no playlists any more. I would like to copy what is on my IPOD back to Itunes because I have purchased a newer IPOD nano. I am not able to drag and drop any of the music on my IPOD to a new playlist name on Itunes.

Restore your iTunes library from your most recent backup of it.  If you've not had the foresight to maintain a backup of your library see turingtest2's user tip on Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device, which lists several methods - some using third-party tools - to accomplish this.  There is no facility in iTunes itself to transfer media (other than iTunes Store purchases) from any iDevice to iTunes, and iDevices are not designed or suitable for data storage.
