Podcast library won't stop updating

Just last Thursday I updated my 5th gen. iPod Touch to 8.0.2 (meanwhile connecting for the first time to my new MacBook Air).
Ever since then, when trying to access my podcasts on the iPod, the spinning wheel comes up and it just says, "Updating library..." I've played around with just about every setting for podcasts on the iPod, I've removed the podcasts and reloaded them, I've backed up and restored the iPod, and still, five days later, it's just "Updating library..."
This is so frustrating.  Does anyone have any idea what can be done to get this to stop?  Thanks in advance for any advice!

Thanks--that seems to have worked.  I was just hoping it wouldn't have to come to that!

Maybe the following but your descrption of your problem is not clear.:
Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)
Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .

  • Computer won't stop updating - cannot access start screen

When powering down the other night the system began an automatic update.  It reached 100% and then sat there doing its thing with a note to not turn the computer off.  The next day I found that the computer had shut itself off and when I tried to start it it again gave the message that it was updating and to not turn the computer off.  I sat there for 2 hours watching the little balls going 'round and occasionally touching the screen to keep it from turning itself off.
Does anyone know how I stop this and get to my start screen?

I understand that your desktop computer will not stop updating, and that you cannot access the start screen. I would be happy to help you, but first I would encourage you to post your product number for your computer. Below is a is an HP Support document that will demonstrate how to find your computer's product number. In addition, it will also help if you indicate which operating system you are using; and whether your operating system is 32 or 64 bit. The more information you can provide, the better!

  • My E-mail won't stop updating itself?

Hi, as I said above the E-mail hasn't been able to stop updating itself and it's depleting my battery quicker than usual. I've tried turning off the push option and turned the iPhone off and on several times. It still does the updating on its own. Is this just a bug or is there a problem? Would also appriciate some tips or advise. Thanks in advance.

  • IPhoto won't stop updating.  It won't let me look at my pictures....

I even re-purchased the program about a month ago hoping it would help, but it hasn't.  It just said"Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process for very large libraries may take an hour or more to complete." Then it updates until it stops responding.  Any ideas out there?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • My Iphoto Library won't upgrade / update after Lion install.

Ok so i updated my OS X to Lion and everything seemed fine but the Iphoto Library had an update and I installed it after this. Now i'm getting a message that my Iphoto library needs to upgrade to be able to run on this version of Iphoto. It starts to upgrade fine but never stops i just have a wheel as pointer like its thinking or trying to upgrade. It will go like this for days. I have GB's worth of photos i can't seem to get to. Help

    To repair the Library:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.

  • Updating iPod Software--Won't Stop 'Updating'

I've recently upgraded to iTunes 7.0. After upgrade, iTunes won't recognize my iPod at all. So I restarted the computer, and simultaneously restarted the iPod. At this point, it recognized the iPod, but said that new software was available for my iPod and that I needed to update. I did, and now a pop up is on my computer reading "Updating 'Ben'". (Ben is the name of my iPod). I've done this 3 times now with the same result.
How can I ensure that iTunes recognizes my iPod each and every time?
IBM T60   Windows XP Pro   30GB iPod Video

Incidently, I too have tried switching from the USB 2.0 hubs in the front to the rear USB's and nothing is happening. I have followed the iPod for Windows software instructions to:
"connect iPod to see if it needs formatting"
when I connect the iPod shuffle the software notices that the "iPod is connected, please wait while the system recognizes the device" and I have even let the program run "waiting for iPod" for HOURS............ and nothing is happening!!

But when it started the apple sign was still there with the loading bar who stopped almost half way. The thing is that even if i restart it, it won't go away. And nothing is downloading, apparently, because the bar isnt fufilling. Help me please I can't use my phone !

  • Iphoto won't stop 'updating?'

ever since I upgraded to mavericks last week, iPhoto has been 'updating'. It's got the blue icon of the new version, but whenever I try to open the program it says 'iPhoto cannot be opened while updating', but when I go onto launchpad the icon doesn't say anything about updating, whereas iMovie does (I paused it a while ago and I just haven't resumed it). it's not updating, but I can't use it? Why? how do I sort this out?

Reinstall iPhoto. The download may have been incomplete.
Delete iPhoto from the Applications folder
Sign into the AppStore and download it from your Purchases List.
Just a caution: Since this will be the first run of iPhoto after upgrading to 9.5.1, make sure you are having a current backup of your iPhoto library, before you try to open it in the new version. The iPhoto library will need to be upgraded to a new format.

  • Help Podcast have stopped updating

I have subscribed to several podcasts on my Bold 9780 with TMobile. They all worked fine until October. Since that time 3 of them stopped updating. I have tried unsubsribing and downloading them again, refreshing the podcast, and contacting Blackberry support. Also I have contacted the technical support for the podcasts.
It doesnt seem to be the provider of the podcasts because I subscribe to two podcast from Airwolf and one works fine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated since Blackberry is not addressing the issue.

It works for the first 50 or so amendments to my template, but eventually stops updating my pages created from the template! Anyone know why?
I've not heard of this limitation before.  In fact, I have a site that uses a template and there were well over pages pages created using the same method you do to create the child pages.
However, I learned my lesson in that there were way too many pages to upload everytime I made a change to the template and converted over to using serverside includes instead.
Using SSIs means that all you need to do is make a change to the include file, and any page that hase the include directive will update automatically.  Therefore, all  you need to do is upload that one include file and all files on the server will be updated.  I sometimes use a combination of template and SSIs to create sites, though now I'm moving onto using php includes instead as most of the sites I work on are on a linux server.
Termplates are great for smaller sized sites, but for sites such as yours, then php includes or SSis are really the way to go.

  • How can I make sure iTunes doesn't stop updating my podcasts

OK I'm subscribed to multiple podcasts, but I don't always get a chance to listen to them so some of them will stop updating and it says something like "iTunes has stopped updating this podcast because you haven't listened to any episodes lately".
How can I make sure it doesn't do that? When I do get to listen to my podcasts, I would really like it if they weren't 3 weeks old.

someone made a script that fixes this. It seems to work for me. If you want it to do it automatically just make an iCal even for every 3 days or something that runs this script.

Itunes updated and now it won't work.  I unstalled it and reinstalled the older version and reinstalled a older version and it still won't open.  Says the itunes
library won't work with the older program.  Please help

It says it cannot removed the older version of iTunes.
Doublechecking before proceeding ... what's the precise text of that message, please? (There's a couple of different ones I can think of that you might be getting.)

  • Bug:iTunes 7 stops updating podcasts that I do not want it to stop updating

Some podcasts that I subscribe to are updated as often as every hour (for example, CNN's hourly update). I do not listen to the podcasts every hour, but always want the latest podcast there, or the podcast becomes useless. iTunes keeps deciding not to update those podcasts, and then I have to manually tell it to keep updating. There is no way to turn this off. Since I listen to a lot of podcasts of news shows and other content that is only useful to listen to soon after it was broadcast, this really degrades the usefulness of listening to podcasts in iTunes.
Apple needs to provide a way to disable this behavior, or even better, to allow users to set a per-podcast update frequency and maximum stored podcast count. (I want all available unheard podcasts for my comedy podcasts, for example, but I only want the latest one or two podcasts for news podcasts because older ones are no longer useful.)
Apple describes this behavior on this web page:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301872
"You've subscribed to a podcast but have more than five unplayed episodes. iTunes will stop automatically downloading newer episodes. You may get the following message:
iTunes has stopped updating this podcast because you have not listened to any episodes recently. Would you like to resume updating this podcast?
You can click Yes to continue downloading additional episodes. Or you can just listen to any part of any episode and a new episode will download at the next update."
    Thanks!

And you're sure no one in your household is downloading them?
