PodCast Listing on Ipod

Hi, when I view the listing of Podcasts on the Ipod they are all order backwards, so that I could not listen to them in sequence without skipping and messing about. Is there any way to change this?
I want them to run in order so that I can listen to them allowing them to skip on to the next one.
Thanks
By the way I have the video Ipod.

On mine the list in order newest to oldest. Don't know how to switch it around if that is what you wants.

I have a 5th gen ipod and recently all of my video podcasts stopped showing up in my ipod.  They still show up and play in itunes, just not in my video podcast list on my ipod.  All of the podcasts are Quicktime Large.  For some reason my ipod has stopped supporting Quicktime Large.  Now I've had to redownload every video podcast as Quicktime Small.
Anyone have any ideas whether this is from the the software version 1.3 and if they'll fix it in the next update?

I'm having same problem, but QT Small videos are also not getting synced.

  • Podcast Synchronization of Ipod and Hard Drive

    Hi,
I'm fairly new to the whole iTunes/iPod thingy, so this question might sound stupid, but what I wanna do is the following:
I've downloaded various podcast episodes of different podcasts to my hard drive. For some podcasts, I want to begin with the first episode and catch up with everything, and so I also downloaded those.
Now, my iPod has only limited memory space left, so I want to have the first episodes on my iPods to listen to them, and then gradually replace them with the next expisodes.
However, the synchronize option doesn't work here at all (or I'm too stupid to use it). And neither do I want to manually put the episodes on my iPod because this would be rather time-consuming.
First, I unticked the more recent episodes (those I don't want to listen to right now) in iTunes on my harddrive and figured, if I then click on sychronize (all), it would transfer all selected episodes. Well, that didn't work. It still put the deselected episodes on my iPod. Then I thought I would select certain podcasts and only synchronize those, but it still put all the deselected episodes for these podcasts on my iPod.
The options like "sychronize newest episodes" and similar ones don't work either.
So, for me, it would appear to be the very simplest solution to have a sychronize option like "synchronize all selected episodes" in the menu but no, there is none like this (I'm using iTunes 7). I have to admit I've only been introduced to the whole Apple / iTunes thingy because I got an iPod as a present and I have already found way too many things that are way too complicated and not practical, so this just seems to be another one of these issues. I would love if someone could prove me wrong and teach me how to accomplish what I described above without having to manually move around episodes every other day.
And another rather confusing thing: initially, I had set iTunes to download the latest episode for a given podcast after a refresh. Then, when I realized I wanted to start with the earlier episodes and save some memory space, I set it so it would do nothing. Now, however, it really does nothing. It doesn't even display when a new episode is available. For example, I had the latest episode of an extensive podcast series and deleted it in my iTunes because it took a lot of memory space. But now I don't even see this episode any longer. I'm sorry, I'm not good at describing problems but what I want is, I want to see a list of all available episodes that will be updated regularly but I don't want the latest episodes to be downloaded automatically.. how in the world can I do that?
Sorry for the long post, I'm just getting a bit frustrated after having spent half a day on trying to figure these seemingly simple issues out
Thanks a lot for any help!
iPod Nano   Windows XP   iTunes 7

You can delete songs from your iTunes/computer hard drive after transferring them to the iPod, and for this you need to set your iPod to manage the iPod content manually.
However, storing music on your iPod and nowhere else is an extremely risky option because when (and not if) there comes a time to restore your iPod, which is a very common fix for iPod problems, then all the music would be erased. If you no longer have the music in iTunes (or any other back up), then all that music would be lost.
At the very least back up your music to either cd or dvd before deleting it, particularly any purchased music/videos, as this would have to be bought again if it were lost. See this about backing up media.
How to back up your media in iTunes.
What if the iPod were lost/stolen/needed repair? Again, the music would lost. I strongly recommend a back up, and if computer hard drive space is in short supply, you should seriously consider an external hard drive. They are not expensive, and the cost is well worth it when compared to the loss of all your precious music.

  • Podcasts and Multiple iPods on the same Windows PC

    Hi there,
I have iTunes (6.04) on a Windows XP machine (I would use my powerbook G4 but its hard drive isn't big enough!)
I have two iPod nanos (one mine, one my girlfriend's) which sync with this iTunes and it works well except for a small glitch.
I have a few iTunes-subscribed podcasts on my nano, but my girlfriend has none - but the podcast setting in options seems to be generally for iTunes, not specifically for each iPod. This means that even with her Podcasts option set to manual, she has to have at least one podcast selected. She can't set podcasts to be off - because that would affect my subscriptions.
Anyone got any clues or workarounds?

If I disable podcasts for one iPod- it disables for all (or so it seems). So because I have enabled podcasts for my nano, it has to be enabled for my girlfriend's nano too - and it won't let me select no podcasts from the list of checkable subscriptions, so the best I can do is just select one ...
This isn't the worst problem, but it does mean that she's got content on her nano that she doesn't want which isn't ideal.
    Thanks.

  • How can I sync both Music files and Podcasts to my Ipod shuffle 4th gen?

I have been trying to do this for a very long time. I own an Ipod shuffle 4th generation and I want to be able to listen to music, podcasts, etc without having to switch between the different formats using Itunes. Everytime I try to sync music and podcasts to my Ipod, it will only play one of the two types but not both. I have plenty of space on my Ipod but it just won't sync music and podcasts together. I have tried using Smart playlists but whenever I try to add the different types of media, it shows nothing in the playlist. Any help with this would be appreciated.

If you are using automatic syncing, you need to set up syncing on the shuffle's Music tab and Podcasts tab in iTunes...
Select your shuffle in iTunes.  There is a bar of "tabs" (starting with Summary).
Click on Music there.  This Music tab is where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the shuffle.  Sync Music is checkmarked, if you use automatic syncing.  Your entire iTunes Music library (plus podcasts) probably will not fit, so you can select to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Below that, make a selection of songs to sync by checkmarking playlists, artists, albums, and/or genres.  For example, if you want to keep it simple, create a new playlist in iTunes and put ALL songs you want on the shuffle on that playlist.  Back on the Music tab, find and checkmark only that one playlist under Playlists as your selection of songs.
Click on the Podcasts tab next.  This is where you tell iTunes how to sync podcasts to the shuffle.  Sync Podcasts is checkmarked.  Make you selection of podcast episodes below.
When you click Apply, your selection of songs and podcasts sync to the shuffle.  Going forward, all changes to your iTunes library that relate to your selection on the two tabs sync automatically when you connect the shuffle, or when you click Sync.
When you use the shuffle, podcasts do not play from the default All Songs list.  To play podcast episodes, you use the VoiceOver feature to select the podcast from the playlist menu.
This document has information about setting up and using VoiceOver on a shuffle
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4322
You can also play podcast episodes from a playlist.  If you put podcast episodes on a playlist, that playlist needs to be checkmarked on the Podcasts tab, where is says Include Episodes from Playlists.  You can then use VoiceOver to select that playlist from the playlist menu.  To play podcast episodes from a playlist, the shuffle's power switch must be in the play-in-order (middle) position.  The podcast episodes will then play in playlist order (as you organized them in iTunes before syncing).

  • ITunes no longer shows podcasts played from iPod

It's just recently that I can no longer see which of the podcasts that I've already listened to on either of my two shuffles (2nd and 3rd gen). Also I used to be able to delete a "listened to" podcast in iTunes and it would automatically delete it from the iPod listing as well. Now I have to glance back and forth between iPod and iTune to determine which and been hear and which have been deleted. Previous ability to see "listened to" podcast from an iPod was much more user friendly than current version.

Just found out. You select the podcast page on your iPhone 4. You drag your finger, from right to left, over the screen, just like you do to delete e-mails. The delete option will present itself. Touch the delete button and confirm. The podcast will be deleted.

  • Unable to check/uncheck older podcast episodes in iPod sync to iTunes 11.0

    Hi,
I have a few podcasts in my iTunes where I have saved a large number of episodes. Now I have upgraded to the new version of iTunes I unable to check/uncheck older podcast episodes from iPod syncing - the finder window won't scroll to the bottom of the list, and just 'bounces' after scrolling past a certain number!
Not sure if this is a bug, or I'm overlooking something.
    Thanks

I have the same problem.  Scrolling does not work in the iPod podcast list panel, but it works in every other panel or window in iTunes...

  • Podcasts on my ipod a mess!

I listen and watch a number of podcasts on my ipod, and since iTunes 7, they no longer stay organized. When they're downloaded, they all just appear on a list, and I have no idea which podcast the episodes belong to. Anyone else have this problem? More importantly, does anyone know of a fix? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

In software version 1.0 and 1.1 for 5G iPods, everything (videos, podcasts, music, etc) showed up under music-->songs
If you update your iPod's software, only songs and music videos will show up under "songs" on the iPod...

  • How to delete title of unsubscribe podcast off of ipod?

I have unsubscribed from some podcasts and deleted all episodes. However, the title remains on my iPod--it does not show up on my podcast list under Library only on the device itself. I have searched my computer for the titles and don't find them. Any ideas for deleting old titles? Thanks.

Isn't it frustrating?  Have you found a solution yet?

  • How do I get podcasts on my iPod touch 4th gen

I tried to get a podcast on y iPod T4. It the  prompted me to download the Podcasts app, but since the Podcasts app requires iOS 7 and the iPod T4 can only get iOS 6.1 I can't get podcasts.

Assuming you sync your iPod Touch to iTunes on your personal computer, you can do a few tricks via iTunes.
Download the podcasts to iTunes on your personal computer.
    Move them into a Playlist.
Select all the podcasts in the Playlist and Get Info (Command-I)
You will get a dialog with an "Options" tab.
Under Options change the "Media Kind" from "Podcast" to "Music"
Now in iTunes, arrange to sync that playlist to your iPod Touch.
After you sync with iTunes, you will have a playlist on your iPod Touch that is your podcasts that can be played just like a music playlist, one podcast after another will be played in the order they are arranged in the playlist.
NOTE:  If you DO NOT normally sync with iTunes on your personal computer, then be aware that the first sync generally erases the stuff on your iPod Touch, so do not do this without thinking about it.
NOTE 2: When you change the podcast Media Kind to "Music" the podcast will move from the iTunes "Podcast" list to the "Music" list.  When it is time to refresh the playlist with new podcasts, it is best to reverse the Media Kind back to Podcast so the old podcasts are not now sitting in your iTunes Music section.
Yes this is a pain to do, but it is also a way to get a random selection of podcasts to play one after another without your needing to mess with your iPod Touch.  Very good for long driving trips where you cannot take your hands off the wheel to mess with your iPod Touch.

  • Order of Podcast updates in iPod sync

I'm not sure if this really belongs here or over in the iPod side, but it's podcast related. It's also a bug I can recreate easily, but I no longer know how to submit bug reports
I have my iTunes update only unplayed Podcasts to my iPod. And I thought for a long time this was working; I'd play podcast "foo", I'd update, and "foo" was gone from the Podcasts list on the iPod. But the other day, I noticed I had stale Podcasts listed in my Music->Genre->Podcast list on the iPod. So I poked at it again...and if I do a second sync immediately afterwards, it cleans those up. Which makes me think that the order is:
    1) Update all tracks on iPod (probably also downloads played information and playcounts)
    2) Update the podcast listing in iTunes with what has been played
    3) Send list of Podcasts to iPod
Since the playcount is still 0 (or the played flag is off) in step 1, the podcasts are left there. Then since it's correct in #3, it doesn't list them. It seems like the correct order should be:
    1) Download playcounts/played flags and update library
    2) Update podcast listing in iTunes
    3) Generate list of updated files to send to iPod; updated DB of playcounts, etc.
    4) Update iPod tracks with results of #3
    5) Update iPod Podcast listing.
Now, for me this is more odd than annoying (I have a 60G and am nowhere near filling it). But for someone with a 20G who syncs podcasts and then as much as possible from a playlist (I think you can do that), the extra stale podcasts mean less music. Any way to send this bug report in to Apple and hope for a fix for it in 6.0.3? I guess a valid workaround is to connect the iPod, let it update, then select file->update iPod and let it update again (I haven't tried that, but it should work).

This question is probably not going to get a lot of answers in the Printing Forum. Maybe the "Using Mac OS X Leopard" forum will offer some help.

  • Clean Install on Tiger, correct way to back-up Podcast list, for reinstall?

I need to erase and install my hard drive to reinstall Tiger, I would like to know the correct way to back-up my Podcast list, so when I restore iTunes, all of my Podcast will be there, and all I will need to do is update to get the latest.
    As always thank you,
    Sebastian

I didn't know where the Podcast list was stored, so I did a test.
I copied the 'iTunes Library' file to new user account and launched iTunes for the first time. My library is on an EHD, so I had instant access.
The complete podcast list was present and updating was successful
If you backup the entire iTunes folder in ~/Users/YourUsername/Music, then all data is safe.
To keep all your preferences, including CD-data and iPod settings, backup the next files from ~/Users/YourUsername/Library/Preferences:
    com.apple.iPod.plist
    com.apple.iTunes.eq.plist
    com.apple.iTunes.plist
    com.apple.iTunesHelper.plist
    CD Info.cidb
Before performing a complete re-install, I recommend to de-authorize your computer. If you format the HD, you could have an additional authorization:

    Hope this helps.

  • Deleted podcasts reappearing on ipod

I manage the content of my ipod manually. After I upload a podcast to the ipod, I delete it from iTunes. Then, after I have listened to the podcast on the ipod, I delete it with the Delete button on the ipod. This was working for me perfectly.
Now, since around the time I upgraded ipod firmware to 3.0 (and 3.1 later), it stopped working: the podcasts I deleted from the ipod are reappearing in the podcast list next time after I upload content to the ipod. The files are not there physically (when I click on them, they don't play), they just show as unplayed podcasts in the list. The only way to stop them from reappearing is to delete them from the ipod through iTunes, but that defeats the purpose of having the Delete button on the ipod.
I've looked through the forums and I've seen a few posts with similar problems, but the suggestions were to check smart lists for podcasts. I checked all my smart lists, and all of them have the "podcast=false" condition.
Does anybody know why this is happening, or how to fix it?
I have another question that might or might not be relevant here. When I drag and drop content onto ipod, in iTunes I see a message saying "updating" and then "Synching ipod." Is iTunes supposed to be synching with ipod if I manage my content manually?
    Thanks for your help.

hmm. i know that for a while podcasts deleted on the ipod sometimes returned in this 'ghost' fashion when the ipod was powered off (rather than just put to sleep), but as far as i can tell this was fixed a few updates ago.
your form of the problem seems to be a new one however. are they removed when you sync?
manual management still involves syncing, that is how it makes the changes.

  • Newest Itunes does not sync podcasts back from  ipod, plays=o so podcasts never deleted

Windows 8, ipod shuffle, newly downloaded itunes.
I have specified delete after played.
If I look at the podcasts on the shuffle, it correctly says the number of plays.  But if I look at the podcast list via computer, it says, for instance "two unplayed' where I have actually listened to both.
Someplace I saw the they get deleted in 24 hours but the ipod count never does get updated to the computer.
I have made a smart playlist where genre=podcast and plays>0  and it returns none.

Looking further into this sync Podcasts problem, I found the answer. Go to Store, sign out and then sign back in. Solved!  Have had this problem since 11.2; drove me nuts!  Sign out and back in worked!
