Podcast Not downlading

I am having probs getting the podcast to download to my Nano. I just got my iPod so Ive been reading quite a bit about downloading Podcasts and I still dont get it. I went to my menu on my Nano and set my podcast to on. I went to Edit and prefrences in iTunes and made sure everything was done right. I subscribed to the podcast and download the files which went into my podcast folder. I clicked the little arrows which displayed sub folds which held further segements (the next chapers or series)of the podcast. I clicked on each one individualy to download them. I then try to update my iPod and I check to see if there is a listing under Podcast and the screen was blank. I then tryed to move my Podcasts into my libary folder in which they transfered ok and again try to update my iPod with the same result. Could some one please tell me what I am doing wrong?

  • Podcasts not fully downloading

When I download any podcast from itunes - it does not download the full podcast. For example a podcast , I know is 15 minutes long - itunes downloads about 3 minutes.
I tunes does not post any errors and says ''Done'' when downlading is complete.
Purchasing songs however is not a problem.
    Can anybody help?

I've had the same problem with podcasts not downloading automatically.  The following from The Complete Guide to iTunes Books, Podcasts + iTunes U is the most likely explanation:
"...iTunes will stop downloading new podcast episodes automatically for any podcasts that you have not listened to in at least five days. This is presumably to prevent your library from getting cluttered with podcast episodes that you don’t regularly listen to, however some users who may want to collect episodes for infrequent listening may find this to be annoying. Simply selecting these stale podcasts and initiating a manual update by right-clicking and choosing Update Podcast from the context menu will resume regular automatic downloads until the next five-day cycle elapses. Mac users who would rather see this automated can check out the Update Expired Podcasts AppleScript at Doug’s AppleScripts for iTunes, which will force regular batch-updates of all of your podcasts."

  • Podcast Cover Image & Recent Podcasts Not Appearing

I know this question has been asked before, but I can't seem to get the Podcast Cover Image to appear on my client's iTunes podcast page both within iTunes and on Apple's iTunes website. When I'm subscribed to it, it does show up. What am I doing wrong?
Additionally I'm having a problem with my last 3 podcasts not appearing, and I can't figure out what happened there.
Below are links to the page on Apple site and the feed I'm using, but please let me know if I need to provide more. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    https://itunes.apple.com/podcast/living-grace-lutheran-church/id348311926?mt=2
    feed://livinggraceomaha.org/lg-sermonpodcasts.xml

Your feed is OK, except that most of your episodes do not have 'guid' tags, and your enclosure tags are missing the 'length' attribute which should show the file size in bytes. Neither of these is serious and they would not cause a problem.
The Store does go through slow patches sometimes: there have been numerous occasions when people have complained about not seeing updates for two or three weeks, and I'm afraid that you've probably just hit one of these. There isn't really anything you can do about it. You could try emailing them at podcasts 'at' apple.com, but frankly you are likely to get a form answer telling you how to add episodes (which you already know). I'm afraid that it's just a question of waiting.

  • Some Podcasts not working since upgrading to 1.2

Ever since I upgraded my IPOD to version 1.2, I have found that some podcasts which I subscribe to no longer work. It downloads and transfers to my IPOD OK, but when I go to play it my IPOD shuts down then eventually restarts. So far it seems to happen with KCRW's the Treatment, Creative Screenwriting & WFUV podcasts. I know I could probably restore it back to the previous version but I'd rather not as I have already paid for a game which I know only works with the new functionality (plus I like playing it). Anyone else found this?

There's another thread about this somewhere - many people have had this problem. I've had it with the Creative Screenwriting podcasts, which are the only ones to which I subscribe.
The thread proposed a workaround - start the podcast not at the beginning but one second in. You have to select the podcast, then I think do a Get Info or something - there's some way to find Options, then Start Time, then input 1 or 2 seconds in (with the CS Podcasts, this is fine, since Jeff tends to yakk on for at least two minutes before the interviews begin!)
I've not yet tried it, but it seems to have solved problems on the other thread, accepted as a workaround until Apple fixes it.

  • In iTunes, podcasts are sorted in the library alphabetically. In Version 1.2.1, there is no order and there are duplicates.  Can you sort the library? and how do you remove duplicates of the same podcast (not episode)?

In iTunes podcasts were sorted in the library alphabetically.  In Version 1.2.1, there is no ability to sort and podcasts (not episodes) are duplicated.  Can you sort the Podcasts in the library section? How do you remove or consolidate duplicates?

Perhaps that's why Apple posted the update!
You are probably correct when you suggest that "third party software generating the podcast not being configured correctly and creating a corrupted video file" has something to do with it. Maybe the people who create the Apple Quick Tip of the Week haven't checked to make sure what they do actually works.
I had a video (converted by iTunes for the iPod) that caused my iPod 160GB to crash, twice. Since that video was not that important to me, I removed it and it will not go back on regardless of software updates. These things happen. However, to someone like me who grew up with vinyl records, the iPod is fantastic!

  • Podcast not listed in directory

Yesterday I received an email notification that my podcast has been approved. The link they sent does take me to the podcast. However, it does NOT show up in the directory itself. Any ideas why?
Just to avoid any confusion: I have an old podcast listed by the same name ("CrossWay Church Sermon Podcast"), but it's not the right one. I can't remove it because the feed no longer exists, and no one from iTunes will remove it for me--I've been trying for weeks. You'll know it's the old feed if it lists the artist as "Nathan Hyde." The correct and active feed lists the artist as "Pastor Nathan Hyde."
    My feed is http://feeds.feedburner.com/CrossWay
    Thanks!

Are you trying to find it by browsing? If so, as explained below, you will not see it in Browse because the Christianity category no longer will display any new podcasts.
The problem is that many new podcast listings will NOT appear in the iTunes Browse function. For example my podcast of BOOK HOBBY will not appear in Literature, just as certainly hundreds and possibly thousands of other podcasts will disappointingly not appear in their proper Browse categories. The problem is in the way that iTunes displays browse categories. It will only display 1,000 titles in each category maximum. Anything beyond the 1,000 titles is simply not at all displayed in that browse category. So, for example, in the Literature category I can easily and quickly find dozens and dozens of podcasts that have not been updated in more than a year, which have bad descriptions, which duplicate themselves over and over, whose rss files result in errors, but my podcast which I frequently update and which follows all the rules cannot be found by browsing in the main catgeory of Literature I want it to be found in because, well, 1,000 displayed is it. It does not matter how long you wait.
I wrote to Apple about this a few months ago (late February). I had to write more than ten emails before I finally got to someone who had any concept of what I was talking about. They wrote back that they were aware of this problem and that it would be fixed "in a few weeks."
So what I have had to do was to choose two other categories that have less than 1,000 displayed to appear in and that sort of works. It only sort of works because the whole point of catgorization should be to put thing in the BEST categories. I did, for reasons of a proper power-search, keep the main category Literature.
I have to say that I am amazed that with all the FAQs from Apple that are dead wrong about this, with so many people having their podcasts not shown as they should be, with the resulting problems to users, that the whole podcast community is not talking about this on every Forum in every venue that supports podcasting. This is not just a small problem. This cuts to the heart of people starting new podcasts.
After writing the above I decided to see how widespread this iTunes bug is -- are there just a few categories affected? I was astonished at how many Browse categories now have 1,000 listings and will not, for reasons of the display bug or problem or design show any further new ones. If you are doing a new podcast in the following areas, well they already display 1,000 listings and your podcast will not appear in the Browse there. Here are the affected categories:
    Arts:
    Literature
    Performing Arts
Design has 900, soon to be filled.
    Business:
    Business News
    Investing
    Management & Marketing
Careers has 977, soon to be filled.
    Comedy
    Education:
    Higher Education
    Training
    Games & Hobbies:
    Video Games
    Health:
    Fitness
    Self-Help
Kids & Family (has 996, very soon to be filled)
    Music
    News & Politics
    Religion & Spirituality:
    Christianity
    Spirituality
    Society & Culture:
    Personal Journals
    Places & Travel
    Sports & Recreation:
    Professional
Outdoor (has 919, soon to be filled)
This is a serious problem. Certainly all podcasts can be found by power search. But the point of Browse categories is to allow people to discover new things, to allow them to explore all the wonderful podcasts being offered.
I am NOT an Apple basher. People who know me, know that. I founded and ran all of the Apple-related and Macintosh areas on CompuServe (the MAUG Forums) for almost 20 years. I was the founding Editor-in-Chief of MACUSER Magazine and ran that publication for some years. I love Apple, absolutely.
But I do not understand why they have not addressed this problem with the Browse categories in the iTunes store as to how iTunes displays them. I trust they will but I hope it will be sooner rather than later.

  • Republished entire site–7 out 14 podcast not loading

After updating iWeb, I republished my site that I had been working on. www.rcogop.com the podcasts are under RCOGOP Sermons. All of these podcasts were created in Garage Band using the same file by dragging the main track out and replacing it each time, export to iTunes, Convert to mp3 to cut down file size, rename, placed into iWeb via the media browser, published to my server account via FTP .
All of these podcasts are newly published at the same time. The three at the bottom of the list work and the four at the top of the list work. The four in–between do not work. The page for the podcast opens as usual. Where the controler bar should be, is a transparent Quicktime icon.
The actual media files are on the server and will play in Safari. If I log into my FTP account via Safari and click directly on the file it opens in a new window and plays.
This is what's puzzling me. If, I open the site from a folder on my computer everything works. It is only when I publish it to the Server that it doesn't work. Note again only some podcasts do not work.
Apple Care tech''s told me to delete everything on my server and republish. I did all 86mb. Takes a while with a 256kb upload speed.
Why would some of these podcasts not link correctly?
Has anyone else had this trouble?
Any, help is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time!

I created a new podcast series and started from scratch using the same format the same audio files the same everything. I basically copied and pasted all of my text and images over from the old series.
    (The only changes)
    1. Instead of using the media browser, I drug the audio straight out of the finder.
    2. I renamed the audio files with shorter names, no spaces and no hyphens, commas, apostrophes etc...
    3. I noticed some of the dates did not match from the entry to the entry list. I corrected them. NOTE (This did not affect the podcast working. Some of the ones with unmatched dates DID work. All of the ones that DID NOT work had dates that matched in both the entry and the entry list?)
After I finished the new series, I deleted the old one, saved (+S), published to a new folder and uploaded the site after deleting everything on the server again.
    (My Suggestion)
    1. DO NOT edit a podcast series created before the 1.1 update after updating iWeb to 1.1.
    Start a new series
    (Comment)
I like iWeb for its simplicity.
I don't like not being able to view the HTML for trouble shooting.
But, I suppose that goes beyond simple.

  • Podcast not showing all the episodes in my feed

When i created my podcast i think i selected to only keep the latest 10 episodes by mistake. How could i correct this without deleting my current podcast and resubmitting a new feed to itunes?
    http://construct.wickedbad.net/archives/category/mixes/jaime-le-dubstep/feed
right now its showing episodes 44 and up. i'd like it to start at 1 and keep them all.
    Thanks for the help.
    Marc

iTunes is indeed using the second feed you list but this immediately redirects to the first feed when you enter the URL in a browser. Presumably you have a redirect in place on the server? There are 115 episodes in the Store, and though I didn't count the ones in the feed they seem to match. So it all seems to be working and you could probably just leave it alone - since you have added episodes to the feed and iTunes has (presumably) picked then all up, the redirect seems to be working there OK. (Next time you add an episode to the feed, make sure it does indeed appear in the Store - after a couple of days - and when subscribing - this latter is immediate).
If you really want to change iTunes to the feed directly you are going to have to go through a bit of a process:
    1. Copy the feed at http://construct.wickedbad.net/feed/podcast to the other location at
    http://construct.wickedbad.net/archives/category/mixes/jaime-le-dubstep/feed
    2. Add the redirect tag to this copy feed as indicated here:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/specs.html#changing
    3. Remove the server redirect.
    4. Leave the copy feed in place until iTunes has swapped over (check this by subscribing from the Store page, clicking the line for your podcast (not an episode) and clicking the 'i' button at the right-hand end.

How can I fix: iPad1 plays back audio podcasts (not music) at double speed?

    Hello @GiveHP2ndChance,
I understand that you are not able to get adequate sound from your notebook computer's BEATS Audio, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
To correct the sound on your system, I recommend following this document on No Sound from Speakers (Windows 7) or for (Windows 8). This should help improve the quality of the audio on your notebook.
To assist you further, I will need to know:
The Product and Model Number of your notebook computer.
The version of Windows you have installed on your computer.
If your computer has completed all of its important Windows Updates.
If you have updated your HP drivers using the HP Support Assistant.
If this is an on-going, or recent issue.
If the same lack of quality is present when headphones are plugged in.
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, as well as the requested information above. I look forward to your reply!

  • Podcasts not sycing

Hi, I just upgraded to Itunes 10, and now my podcasts aren't syncing with my ipod anymore. Itunes is set to sync all unplayed episodes, and I have like 160 unplayed ones in my podcast folder, but they will not transfer to my ipod no matter what I do.
Anyone have any suggestions? It's an 80 gig video ipod, if that makes any difference, and it worked flawlessly right up until I "upgraded" to itunes 10...

Go to Settings>General>Usage>Music. You can swipe right to left and delete the corrupted podcasts there.
Worked fine to me. But somethings on internet waste time, you have to be patient to find what you need. About five days to get the right solution.

  • Podcasts not syncing to Podcasts folder on ipod 80gb

I have subscribed to 6 podcasts and they do sync to my ipod but they go into the Music folder rather than the Podcast folder. How do I get them to sync into the Podcast folder going forward, and how do I get them out of my music folder. I thought Apple was suppose to have intuitive software and hardware, but this ipod is a ***** to figure out. I love it, but the documentation *****.

Thanks for your response. I had added them all as Subscriptions from itunes, so that didn't seem to be the problem. In the time between posting my question and your reply, I was able to get the Podcasts into my Podcast folder on my ipod, but they are still appearing on the Music folder also, even though they do not appear in my iTunes library. I assume that I'll have to erase everything on my ipod and reload to get them out of my Music list unless anyone knows how to delete items from the ipod one at a time.Very frustrated.

  • Podcast not found?

I have been having troubles with iTunes in general and it telling me it can't find my files(by showing an exclaimation point)although they play just fine. Now, when I try to download episodes of new podcasts, the file has an exclaimation point next to it. I can no longer download any audio podcasts, they all say that the file can't be found, only video ones work. And even some of them do not work now; they won't download. I already have some of the older podcasts and when I try to download the new ones from my podcast section of iTunes or from the iTunes store, it says it can't find the file. Am I doing something wrong? I just downloaded an installed the newest iTunes and cleared out a bunch of memory on my drive with no luck. Any suggestions?

  • Issue with my podcast not updating to subscribers

    Hi,
I recently took over podcast duties for our podcast.  And around a month before I took over (mid-march)  I began recieving complaints that the podcast wasn't updating to subscribers.  It seems to be mostly from people using the IOS podcast ap.  I am using it myself, and I can search for the podcast and find it, but as a subscriber the podcast will not update automatcially, or aknowledge that a new podcast has been uploaded.  I am aware that it can take a few days to update from my feed, but it still should alert subscribers when a new podcast is uploaded.
    my page https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/branches-a-christian-church/id512745759?mt=2
Thanks in advance for the help!

    Your feed is at http://www.themim.com/podcasts/branches_podcasts.xml
The latest episode in it is 29 April, and this shows in the Store and when subscribing in iTunes on a Mac, so all this is normal.
I don't have an iOS device so I'm not in a position to check if there are any problems there. Your server does handle the required 'byte ramge requests' so it ought to work OK, but if it doesn't I can only advise asking in the iPhone forum - everything in the feed seems to be correct.

  • ITunes/Podcast not responding

So, every time I've tried bringing up iTunes for the last 2 hours, the program comes up, starts to download some podcast updates, and immediately stops responding -- leaving me no option but to close it. I tried deleting it and reinstalling, but the problem still persists, freezing before I can even try to do anything about it. I can usually get it to start playing one song, but the second it starts downloading podcast updates, it freezes.
Anyone know of any kind of solution?

The iTunes Store caches feeds; when a feed goes dead the Store continues to display the episodes in the feed as it last saw it and will do so until the feed is restored or the podcast is taken down.
I don't know how you've managed to do it, but as you say iTunes is now looking for a feed at the URL of your web page - there is a page there but as it's not a feed iTunes can't make any sense of it. The actual feed doesn't contain the redirection tag which could have caused this.
Your best bet - and I can't promise it will work - is to email them at [email protected] - give them the URL of your podcast:
    http://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/bournemouth-vineyard-church/id361822953
and ask them to direct it to the feed URL.
