Podcast not showing up when searching the store

We can access the podcast by click the following link: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=392970034
But are unable to search the store to get it, is there something i missed?

This is all a bit odd: there are two separate podcasts called 'Joypod'.
Yours is at http://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/joypod/id392970034
and the feed is at http://spong.com/joypod/subscribe.xml
The other is at http://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/joypod/id264454455
and the feed is at http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/xLhw
This isn't supposed to be possible: usually if you submit a podcast with a title which has already been submitted it will be rejected (even if the other has failed submission or been removed), so how you've managed to achieve this I can't imagine.
Searching on 'Joypod' brings up search results including the other podcast but not yours. It usually takes some days after a podcast has newly appeared in the Store before it appears in the search results; but I can't say whether yours will appear eventually in addition to the other one, or whether the name duplication will block yours from appearing.

My mac will not show images when on the internet?  I think I have inadvertently changed some settings but nor sure which one.

I am going to assume you are using Safari here. If so then go to the Apple menu bar and hit Safari-> Preferences.  Under the Apperance tab there is a check box that is called "Display images when the page opens".  Check if that is unticked.

  • New Podcast Not Showing Up In Searches

I received approval for a new video podcast form the iTunes store about two weeks ago, but the show still does not show up on searches in the itunes store.
The link to the podcast works fine, but it doesn't seem to exist when searched. Anyone have any insight? Any clues how to resolve?
This is the email I received:
    Dear Podcast Owner
Your podcast, located at [ http://feeds.feedburner.com/DrBrown ], has been approved. You should expect to see it in iTunes within the next few hours. When it's available, you will be able to access it with the URL below.
    http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=264538009
If you have questions or wish to make changes to your feed, please consult the technical spec at http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/techspecs.html. The spec contains detailed information about key topics like adding "cover art", changing your feed URL, and adding other helpful iTunes-specific tags to your podcast.
There is also an Apple Discussions Forum exlcusively for podcast producers, located here: http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1107. If you have a question or a problem that the technical spec cannot answer, the community of iTunes podcasters may be able to provide valuable guidance.
    Sincerely,
    The iTunes Store Team

I'm gonna have to go with "epontius' postulate of unfound podcasts" on this one, my friend. (Look at the last post in the linked thread.) You are but one further confirmation of the hypothesis.
What this means to you is: it is becoming more evident that podcasts with only one episode are not searchable in the iTMS . . . and you only have one podcast in your feed. Update your feed, put up another 'cast, and I bet that your podcast will become searchable a few days afterward.

  • Podcasts not showing up from search

Hi, I logged in today on iTunes and noticed that our podcasts are no longer showing up on iTunes Store. I tried doing a search on 'fowler' and 'fowlerinc' and couldn't find anything. I checked the XML file and didn't find any errors, so I was wondering what I need to do to get our podcast to show again.
    Thanks.

The podcast is not available in the iTunes Store. FeedValidator says the feed is valid but comments 'Feeds should not be served with the "application/octet-stream" media type' - a remark I can't comment on. They have an explanatory page:
    http://www.feedvalidator.org/docs/warning/UnexpectedContentType.html
The feed downloads OK and looks to be OK, but possibly there is something going on on your server which is choking iTunes. I can only suggest contacting iTunes Support:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/podcast/

  • My podcast not showing up in searches, Any Ideas?

When you search our podcast  "The Media Brothers" in the mobile Itunes app, it pulls up these podcasts that are not even closely related.  Any Ideas on how to get it to search correctly?

Searching in the iTunes Store on a Mac brings up various podcasts, of which this is the fourth:
    https://itunes.apple.com/podcast/media-brothers-podcast-podcast/id677699096
Of course I don't know that this is indeed yours, but assuming it is at least it's showing up, though why it doesn't turn up as first I have no idea. I'm afraid the Store's search algorithms are completely opaque and there doesn't appear to be anything you can do about it.

  • Episodes of Podcast not showing up when tested in iTunes

My friends and I have recently started producing a weekly radio show and are interested in adding the show to iTunes. The method we're currently using is to add the episodes to a Souncloud account, link the episodes to a Tumblr page as an audio file, and then connect the Tumblr feed to our Feedburner account and the ultimately submit that to iTunes.
When testing the feed by putting the Feedburner link into iTunes under "Subscribe to Podcast," the feed shows up but no episodes are listed. I've tested the feed on Feedvalidator and it says that it's valid however no episodes are showing up. I'm not sure what to change. Any tips?
    Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/binge-talking
    Tumblr: http://bingetalking.tumblr.com/
    Feedburner: http://feeds.feedburner.com/BingeTalking

Your feed does not have any 'enclosure' tags containing the URLs of your media files, as required by iTunes. The most likely explanation for this is that you are using URLs beginning https - you must use http, and the link must be a direct link to the media file, not to an embedded player or a forced download.

  • Adding new podcasts - not showing up in iTunes music store

Is there some sort of manual process that must be undertaken when you add a new podcast to your site, to get it to show up in itms?
I successfully added my podcast series (had two of them ready to go) and submitted to ITMS. They accepted it, and it shows up just fine there. But after adding a third episode last night, it still only shows two episodes this morning.
Is there something more I must do?
    Jim

OK, I got it to work by running the feed through
feedvalidator and fixing all the errors. The wierd
thing is that the xml file was created by a program
called RSSBuddy, so it shouldn't have been messed up.
Interesting. I suspect that the XML parser used by the iTunes Store is fussier than the iTunes software itself!
I guess I need to find a new program for editing the
    RSS feed. Any recommendations?
If you're on a Mac then Podcast Maker is a great choice. For Windows there's a product made by Feed4All.
    Cheers,
    Greg.

  • Podcast not showing up in itunes search after 1 week

i submitted my podcast with one episode and it was accepted on 17 july. i am able to get to it in the itunes store by using the url as provided in the email.
    iTunes Store Welcome
    Dear Podcast Owner
Your podcast, located at [ http://feeds.feedburner.com/meterdown ], has been approved. You should expect to see it in iTunes within the next few hours. When it's available, you will be able to access it with the URL below.
    http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=260194221
i have put an icon with that url in my blog (meterdown.wordpress.com) and that works fine. people are taken to the podcast in the itunes store and can subscribe.
however when i search the store, my podcast is not turning up either by podcast name (meter down) or by author/artist name (kabi) or by keyword (taxi, bombay, hindi).
I can ping using the podcast ID (id=nnn) and it returns the podcast feed url (http://feeds.feedburner.com/meterdown) and the podcast ID.
it doesn't list an episode however. is it supposed to?
my main question is "why am i not showing up in the search?"
is there something wrong in my xml? I host at switchpod and run it thru feedburner and I use the feedburner feed.
i have read and read the forums here, feedburner, podcast alley and also am emailing switchpod support. still can't figure it out.
    thanks

    ssukotto,
Thanks for the information. What you mention is boilerplate that is automatically sent when a new podcast is approved. I also quoted it like scripture before diving deeper into researching this issue.
The research into this problem suggests that there is a minimum number of podcasts in order to be included in the search index (or at least the search results) whether it's undocumented or unintentional.
Case in point, Meter Down posted his first complaint that his podcast hadn't shown up in the search even after a week (far outside the 24-48 hours you mention and that is documented)..that was a week ago. A total of at least two weeks that his podcast could not be found by searching by the exact title. His podcast showed up search within a day after adding his second episode (yesterday).
Jerry Pine posted July 17 that his podcast "Everything Algae" had been approved July 13 but couldn't be found by searching...even by name. July 28th, he added a second episode as a test...and his podcast became searchable.
There are several others who went for days or weeks without being listed in search results by even searching for their exact podcast title...common trait between all of them was that they only had one episode. They added a second episode and within the day they show up in search results.
There are others that had newly submitted podcasts whose podcasts showed up within the 24-48 hours timeframe...but they had at least two episodes.
I'm just providing the facts...could be coincidence that they just happened to be searchable just after posting a second episode.
I'd invite you to read through and share with the iTunes podcast developers the several thread from various people who have reported problems with having a searchable podcasts and draw your own conclusions.

  • Podcast not showing all the episodes in my feed

When i created my podcast i think i selected to only keep the latest 10 episodes by mistake. How could i correct this without deleting my current podcast and resubmitting a new feed to itunes?
    http://construct.wickedbad.net/archives/category/mixes/jaime-le-dubstep/feed
right now its showing episodes 44 and up. i'd like it to start at 1 and keep them all.
    Thanks for the help.
    Marc

iTunes is indeed using the second feed you list but this immediately redirects to the first feed when you enter the URL in a browser. Presumably you have a redirect in place on the server? There are 115 episodes in the Store, and though I didn't count the ones in the feed they seem to match. So it all seems to be working and you could probably just leave it alone - since you have added episodes to the feed and iTunes has (presumably) picked then all up, the redirect seems to be working there OK. (Next time you add an episode to the feed, make sure it does indeed appear in the Store - after a couple of days - and when subscribing - this latter is immediate).
If you really want to change iTunes to the feed directly you are going to have to go through a bit of a process:
    1. Copy the feed at http://construct.wickedbad.net/feed/podcast to the other location at
    http://construct.wickedbad.net/archives/category/mixes/jaime-le-dubstep/feed
    2. Add the redirect tag to this copy feed as indicated here:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/specs.html#changing
    3. Remove the server redirect.
    4. Leave the copy feed in place until iTunes has swapped over (check this by subscribing from the Store page, clicking the line for your podcast (not an episode) and clicking the 'i' button at the right-hand end.

Depends on where you got it - if it came on yoru compujter then you need to have accepeted it in the App store - and it will be in your purchases when you log in with the Apple ID that you used to set up your computer - it mahy be hidden - if you do not find it unhide applications in teh App store
