Podcast not syncing

I am hoping someone can help me understand why only a few of my podcast are sync'd between my iphone and PC.  I have the latest versions on both, including iTunes and I am unable to see several podcasts on my iphone?  Any ideas?
Thanks.

Loaded HD is the High Definition version, intended for the Apple TV device. You cannot play this version on an iPod.
Look in the iTunes Store for the non-HD version - that should play. If you have trouble finding it, use the *Search iTunes Store* facility and it will appear in the Podcasts section. You may need to "see all".

  • Why are my podcasts not syncing with Apple TV when all devices connect to the same Apple iD?

Does anybody have an idea as to why my recently updated Apple TV does not sync my podcasts from my Apple iD. It's supposed to, it's not doing it, and it's very annoying.
This is only half the aggravation; the other half is that all my podcasts have been deleted automatically twice(no apparent reason other than perhaps a bug in iOS 7.0.2 / 11A501).
This one I have managed to comeup with sort of a temporary fix while Apple fixes this: I made a copy/backup of the "Podcasts" folder inside the "iTunes Media" which in turn is in the "iTunes" folder Within the "Music" folder in my Mac. When my Podcasts are deleted, I just drag the backup "Podcasts" folder I created into the My Pocasts in iTunes.
    Apple please fix it.

  • Video Podcasts Not Syncing From my iPad Mini to iTunes for Windows

Hello all.  I have the iPad Mini, and recently have been downloading my Podcasts there.
It occurred to me that in case something happens to my iPad, I should have my Podcasts backed up to my computer.  So, i downloaded iTunes for Windows on my computer.  I plugged my iPad Mini into my computer and synced it, so that my Podcasts would sync from my iPad Mini to my iTunes Library.
I noticed that all of my podcasts did sync, except for the 3 video podcasts I have.  None of the video podcasts synced.
Anyone know how I can get my video podcasts to sync from my iPad Mini to my iTunes Library?
    Thank you in advance!

Just wanted to kick my question back up. to see if anyone had any idea how to get my video podcasts to sync from my iPad Mini to iTunes on my computer.
Audio podcasts seem to be syncing fine.  Just the video podcasts are not.
    Thanks.

  • Podcasts not syncing to Podcasts folder on ipod 80gb

I have subscribed to 6 podcasts and they do sync to my ipod but they go into the Music folder rather than the Podcast folder. How do I get them to sync into the Podcast folder going forward, and how do I get them out of my music folder. I thought Apple was suppose to have intuitive software and hardware, but this ipod is a ***** to figure out. I love it, but the documentation *****.

Thanks for your response. I had added them all as Subscriptions from itunes, so that didn't seem to be the problem. In the time between posting my question and your reply, I was able to get the Podcasts into my Podcast folder on my ipod, but they are still appearing on the Music folder also, even though they do not appear in my iTunes library. I assume that I'll have to erase everything on my ipod and reload to get them out of my Music list unless anyone knows how to delete items from the ipod one at a time.Very frustrated.

  • All Unplayed Podcasts - Not Syncing

Seems like there is a problem with syncing and Podcasts. iTunes is reporting 167 unplayed podcasts but the iPhone was only syncing 60 of those. I updated to the new iTunes today and that helped (iphone now sync's 123 unplayed podcasts) a little but I am still not getting all of the podcasts.
I've got the 16GB iPhone with 10GB of free space so space shouldn't be a problem.
Has anyone experienced this problem? Any fixes?

I sort of had the same problem. I usually transfer podcasts manually to my Touch. Recently, (not sure if it was before or after updating iTunes) I couldn't transfer podcasts at all. I tried manually and with sync. The only thing that would happen was about a one second long "syncing" message on the Touch's screen. After syncing, all of my podcasts were gone. The Podcast section was totally empty.
Two days ago I found out that my podcasts were actually in the Touch. They showed up in the browsing window of the Touch. The Touch was treating the podcasts like a music genre. To make the podcasts available to play (since they were actually on the Touch) I made a playlist of the podcasts. They now show up on the playlist where I can play them. Apple certainly needs to look at the newest iTunes and fix this podcast problem. It is an annoying fix.
To see if your podcasts are on your phone or not use the browse button on iTunes while your iPhone is highlighted on the directory on the left side of the screen. If your podcasts are there you can make a playlist in iTunes and set your podcasts in there. The will then transfer over.

  • How to make podcasts NOT sync to ipod

I'm having some trouble with podcasts. I want to download them to my computer but not to my ipod. I tried setting the podcast option on my ipod to manually update, but they sync anyways because the podcasts are appearing in the library as songs. is there anyway to stop them from going onto my ipod, short of me manually updating the ipod everytime i connect it?
    thanks

what i finally did to go around this problem was to make another user on my computer and only download podcasts. just as long as you don't hook the ipod up in this new profile, you should be fine

  • Some video podcasts not syncing, why?

i haven't been able to sync (or even watch in itunes) some video podcasts, specifically several episodes of the ricky gervais podcast, and all 3 of his "podfather" podcasts.
i can see them listed in my itunes library, but when i try to sync them to my ipod... nothing. they don't show up.
another issue is when i try to watch an episode of the podfather within itunes, i just get a still image of the chapter while the audio plays.
why can i not get these things to sync to my ipod???

Don't know about the iTunes playing issue. Perhaps there is a problem with the podcast.
As far as syncing them to the iPod, with the iPod connected to iTunes and selected in DEVICES, click on the tab for PODCASTS (in the main window where the tabs begin with SUMMARY). Make sure you're set to sync all.

  • Checked podcasts not syncing

Hi.  I recently replaced my ipod with a new ipod classic 160 gb.  It now seems that most listened to podcasts do not snyc.  I have the sync only checked sonds and videos checked, I have tried manually manage music & videos.  I
s there a limit to the number of pocasts that I have in the library?  A limit of podcasts for one show?
80% of the ipod is free.  Running xp,itunes is up to date with 11.0.4.4, ipod is up to date with 2.0.5
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi Averysgrammy,
If a setting doesn't seem to be taking, try changing the setting then changing it back (toggle the setting).  That may reset the setting.
Details on podcast syncing are found here, but it sounds like you are familiar with them.

  • Podcasts not syncing correctly w iTunes

Despite my settings to just sync unplayed episodes of selected podcasts, my iPhone shows ALL podcasts and includes episodes that have been marked as played already, even after syncing. Any solutions on getting the iPhone to work properly? I don't have this issue with my iPod.

I found a new Sync Subscriptions settings in Settings->Podcasts which when turned on fixed my problem.  I leave "Use Cellular Data" off, so the syncing didn't kick in until I got phone on free hotel WiFi.

  • Itunes 7.7  IPod Touch 2.0 - Will not sync calendars with Outlook 2003

All was fine until I upgraded both my Itunes to 7.7 and the IPod Touch firmware to 2.0. My Outlook Calendars and Contacts sync'ed perfect back and forth between Outlook on my XP machine and my Touch.
Now calendars will not synch. I've spent a day searching the web for answers and have tried all the suggestions. No luck.
Why is Apple blantantly ignoring this problem? I'm not the only person in the universe with this issue. Do a Google search - it's an epidemic.

YES!!! Finally, someone else is seeing this. And, for the record, they aren't "bugs", they are "undocumented features". Seriously, though, I had this problem with my podcasts not syncing right and it turned out that there was a new "feature" that would add podcasts to your iPod if they showed up in a playlist (and a few of my Smart Playlists had podcasts in them). Anyway, my point is, I'm wondering if there's not just some new setting or "feature" that we're all overlooking. It took weeks before someone came up with the answer on the podcast question. And the fact that contacts are syncing right means that it is AT LEAST communicating with Outlook. I thought at first it had something to do with the "push" setting, but turning that off didn't change anything...
    What have you tried?

  • 5th Gen iPod Video not syncing all video podcasts

My 5th Gen iPod video is not syncing all of my video podcasts.
I did specify in the settings to sync all videos, but for some reason it only places 3 of each on the iPod. This is using the latest version of iTunes, OS X 10.4.8, and iPod up-to-date.
This did work fine with the previous version of iTunes and only seemed to happen since the "upgrade".
I've tried restoring the ipod - didn't work
    Reinstalled iTunes - didn't work
    Rebooted system - didn't work
    Undocked/Redocked iPod - didn't work
    Please Help.

Assuming you're running iTunes 7, connect the iPod and wait for it to appear in the iTunes source list. When it does, click on it, and click on the 'podcast' tab. Make sure it is set to sync all podcasts. Check the 'video' tab as well.
iTunes 7 included several new options for setting just how the iPod will update in iTunes. So, it's a good idea to go through them and make sure they're set exactly how you'd like them to be.
    Hope this helps

  • IPhone not removing played podcasts during sync(using the unplayed feature)

    Hi folks,
I listen to a lot of podcasts. When I used an iPod the sync unplayed option. Once I listened to a podcast it was removed (saving space for more podcasts). With my iPhone I've got the options set up correctly (i.e. set at Sync Unplayed) but podcasts are not removed once I play them.
I called up Apple support and their Tier II were able to confirm the problem and are sending it up to their engineers. Hopefully that'll mean a fix in the next software update.

I am having the same problem.
iTunes transfers all of my podcasts to my 2nd Gen iPod Nano (and replacement 3rd Gen iPod Nano), regardless if I specify 1, 3, or 5 “most recent” podcasts or even completely disable podcast syncing altogether.
How do I know all my podcasts are being transferred?
    1. I see that iTunes is copying them during “Sync”
    2. The podcasts (almost 3 GB total if iTunes transfers all of my podcasts, under 100MB normally) take up space on my 4GB 2nd Gen iPod Nano, preventing me from syncing my music and audiobooks (around 2.22 GB)
    3. On my 2nd Gen iPod Nano, illicit podcasts can be found via “Artist”, “Album”, “Song”, etc.
    4. I see the podcast files when browsing my iPod using third-party software.
What have I tried to fix this?
    1. Closed and reopened iTunes
    2. Checked to make sure I had the most recent version of iTunes
    3. Checked to make sure I had the most recent version of the iPod Software (1.1.3)
    4. Downloaded and reinstalled iTunes (7.6.29)
    5. Reset my iPod
    6. Restored my iPod from iTunes
    7. Reformatted and then restored my iPod
    8. Deleted and restored my entire iTunes Library via Time Machine
    9. Exported, deleted and re-imported my entire iTunes Library
    10. Deleted and re-subscribed to my podcasts
    11. Reinstalled OS X 10.5 (“Erase and Reinstall”)
    12. Purchased a 3rd Generation iPod Nano
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Open iTunes 7.6
    2. Delete all podcasts, move files to trash
    3. Connect iPod Nano
    4. Uncheck podcast syncing and apply settings
    5. Subscribe to podcast via iTunes Store
    6. Sync
    7. Watch as the podcasts are synced to my iPod
    5. Confirm using third-party software (or browse to tracks on 2nd Gen iPod Nano via “Artist”, “Album”, “Song”, etc.)

  • Podcasts will not sync to Classic

I'm at a complete and utter loss.
One day updated podcasts stopped syncing to my iPod Classic.  I've done everything I can think of, google searches, asking friends and can't come up with a solution.
    Here's what I've tried:
    -Checked my anti-virus software
    -Rebooted
    -Restored
    -Uninstalled/Reinstalled iTunes
    -Used a different USB port
    -Used a different connector
-Tried different settings on iTunes, including selecting manual syncing.
I don't know if this problem is hardware vs. software.  Right now here's what's happening.  After one of the restores, I deleted all of my podcasts and resubscribed to see if that would help...it didn't.  I can download audio and video podcasts onto iTunes, when I connect my iPod it indicates that it's syncing but my iPod states "no podcasts".  I'm not sure if perhaps the podcasts are in a different folder under My Music, but last I checked the podcasts were in the Music>Podcast folder.
I don't know if I'm missing some vital step but I'm literally losing my mind trying to figure out what's happened and would love any/all suggestions.
One other thing.  I ran the Sync Diagnostic on iTunes and it said that no iPod could be found.  This is strange because when I do my restore, all of my old music library syncs, just nothing new.

Ah! That explains a lot, Video Podcasts are a mystery on the Classic!
Do you get any messages when you Sync these Podcasts? Some video Podcasts will not play on the iPod Classic and therefore they don't get transferred to the iPod. However, in that situation, I would expect you to see a message telling you something like "Some Podcasts were not transferred to the iPod because they cannot be played on this iPod."
You can't miss the message, so if you don't see it, the Podcasts must be on the iPod somewhere. However, I've noticed that video Podcasts can be almost anywhere on the iPod Classic, not sure why.
For instance, I have video Podcasts from different providers which are all in the iTunes U section in the iTunes library - even though they are not "educational." But, on the iPod, some of them are in the iTunes U section, while others are in the Music section. And guess what? The search facility does not find items in iTunes U! I have inspected the videos in iTunes but I'm unable to see why they should be in different sections of the iPod.
So, first of all, where are these videos in the iTunes library; Podcasts or iTunes U? This may give you a starter about where they are on the iPod and look (obviously) in the iTunes U on the iPod.
If you can't find them in iTunes U, try looking in the Video Playlists. Note, Video Playlists is separate from Playlists, so if necessary, place Video Playlists on your Main Menu. Even then, in the Video Playlists, all is not simple. Also on my Main Menu is Videos/Movies and some of my rogue video Podcasts are in there!
    Example:
    in the iTunes Library;
    Library/iTunes U/History 106B
    Library/iTunes U/Shulton: Old Spice (adverts)
both in the same section, next to each other.
Start from iPod Classic - Main Menu:
    Videos/Movies/Shulton: Old Spice (- only)
    Videos/Video Playlists/iTunes U/Shulton: Old Spice (- only)
    Video Playlists/iTunes U/Shulton Old Spice (- only)
    Playlists/iTunes U/History 106B (-only)
    Spot the difference?
So in other words, I cannot find these Podcasts all in one place on the iPod - to put it another way - iTunes U in one section has Old Spice but not History, and iTunes U in another section has the History but not the Old Spice! I could go on, the History appears under some, but not all of the Music Menu subsections while the Old Spice is not on the Music Menu at all!
It's mind numbing! It's one area where Apple doesn't appear to have got it right and unfortunately, I don't think that it will ever be sorted out. Often, this issue can be as a result of how the Podcast producer tags their videos, which may explain why the problem has just started. But how anyone sorts that out is beyond me too because different models of iPod act in different ways.
So have a good look through your iPod for the missing episodes, good luck, let us know how you get on, do you find them?
    Phil
P.S. On my Videos/Music Videos menu header, the iPod states "No Videos" but when I look in there, I find two videos! ??

  • ITunes 9 not syncing podcasts in playlists

My podcasts all sync just fine (they become available in my Podcasts folder), but for some reason PLAYLISTS of podcasts created in iTunes don't sync with my iPod. If I put a SONG in the playlist created in iTunes, it syncs with the iPod, only the podcasts do not. This was never a problem with the last version of iTunes -- am I doing something wrong? Thanks for any suggestions.

You've hit on a couple of problems, with different solutions (they aren't really solutions, but should help).
For getting podcasts in playlists to sync: click your ipod in the sidebar, go to your 'podcast' tab and scroll down to see the 'include episodes from playlists' section. Click any playlist you use for podcasts.
Ordering in playlists is more complicated. What's changed is that the way you see the playlist on screen is not the way it will appear on your ipod anymore. So for a smart playlist that you want sorted by stationary, unchanging characteristics (like album, artist, etc.): edit your smart playlist by adding a limit (make it higher than you'll need, like 10000 or so) then picking your 'selected by' to be the order you want your podcasts in (album is the order they're in in itunes).
Ordering should be fine in regular, not-smart playlists, so another option is to make your smart playlist, then just drop it into a regular playlist and sort it the way you want there.
Then, please complain about this here: http://www.apple.com/feedback
