Podcast Page Graphics: The big ones

Looking for information on providing graphics for the large page which would hold several differrent podcasts...
For instance, the White House has a branded page holding al they're 'casts, as does Business Week and Purina.
However, the ponly image information I can locate is for the small 300x300 requirements for the individual 'casts.
Can someone direct me to the right resource materials for the branded page?

The button on my Ipod Touch (the big one just below the screen) will not work when I press it. Nothing happens, when before it would wake my IPod out of sleep mode, and exit out of programs I was using. Now, no reactions. What should I do?

Can i Open a new page behind the current one in the browser?

Using Safari, if I press a link to 'open in new page' is there a way to have the new page open behind the current one? I can choose it on my laptop browser(windows). It's really annoying when I choose 'open in new page' and the current one is whisked away, then I have to minimise it and go back to the original.

There are other browsers available that have the tabs feature which is so much handier when navigating from page to page like you want to do.
Look at iCab (my favorite), Mercury and Atomic. All three have many more features than Safari has.

To add to what others have said, the three prong plug allows the charger to be grounded, the two prong plug that can plug into the three prong cord assembly does not. There are situations (such as this) in which Apple advises grounding the power adapter to solve problems.

Anyone used "The Big One" yet?

I've never bought any sampled pianos yet and just use Logic's Yamaha Grand for mock-ups. We will be recording in the studio soon and my producer has suggested to get some for the album. When researching the web, I came across "The Big One" from Sampletekk. Has anyone actually used this and what do you think? Our sound is Linkin Park meets Evanescence - so if anyone has any better suggestions, let me know. Thanks

I've tried it and I have to say that it is good but not great. It is a RAM hog because the size of the library. I've also used the Black Grand, which I like more than The Big One. The Black Grand is a good library but there are some problems with the release samples (pops and clicks in the higher ranges)in the EXS format, giga and kontakt and halion are fine. If you are looking for just samples only, you might want to consider the PMI libraries www.postpiano.com. I've had Ivory 1.5 for about 2 months and I think it sounds great and is very efficient. One thing to keep in mind is that just because it takes of more hard drive space, it doesn't mean it's going to sound better.

Stop podcast from playing the next one ??

How can I stop the iphone from playing the next podcast? I subscribe to a podcast and have about 20 shows that I have to listen to, but after it finish playing one, it goes to the next one and I dont want that. How could I tell the iphone to stop after finishing one podcast ?

Un-sync all your music to remove it from the device, then restart (hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go). Now re-sync your music.

I am having a lot of issues but the big one is that my menu, buttons and toolbar keep greying out

I am having multiple issues and they all seem related to the menu/settings:
• Every time I start Firefox, my bookmarks toolbar is invisible. The box to display Bookmarks Toolbar IS checked but I have to disable and then re-enable it on the toolbar menu in order to get them to display again.
• "Tabs on Top" keeps defaulting to off. I check the box every time I run the browser, but every time I close it, it's back off again when I restart.
• I keep getting tabs that cease to be interactive. They are stuck open and I cannot close, move, or pin them. In fact, if I try to click on the tab, it selects the tab immediately to the right of it. It's like Firefox does not realise these tabs exist.
All of these are frustrating but I could handle them if this also wasn't happening:
• Periodically, all my menus and buttons grey out and I am unable to use any of them. I can't click bookmarks, I can't use my back/forward buttons, I can't access anything on the menus. I can still use the URL bar and interact with the websites themselves. It seems particularly prone to doing this while I am adjusting settings or toolbars which unfortunately I have to do a lot because of the aforementioned issues. I have not yet been able to use the browser for longer than 15 minutes before it happens. I am having to restart it constantly.
Potentially Helpful Information:
I have reinstalled Firefox (once as an upgrade, once I uninstalled the original one first) several times at home in hopes this would help, but it has not.
I am using Windows 7. (at work I am still running 2k and Firefox 4 works great)
The only addons I am using are Morning Coffee, Personas, Adblock and Noscript. I use them also at work with Firefox 4 without issue. They are all updated for the latest version. Additionally, disabling them makes no difference in the presentation of these issues.

If you are having that many issues, and if you have tried all five of the Five Rs, then what I would do is take it to an Apple store to the genius bar and let them look at it. It surely sounds as if there might be something wrong with the iPod itself, and if there is, and they can't fix it, they will give you a new one on the spot (assuming they have them in stock).

[Space] How do the big ones do it?

I've been trying hard to get a lightweight, low footprint and very minimal Arch installation. Now, after I installed ALSA, Xorg, and Gnome, cleared the package cache, I ended up at 2.3 GiB of files in "/".
For comparism I just installed a Fedora Core 11 from a live disk, with Gnome, and I think there's much more "hidden" packages than I have, yet it's only 2.2 GiB.
I still wonder how distributions like Damn Small Linux go as low as 50 MB, while X is about 40 MB and the Kernel is surely over 10 MB, too
How low can I go?
What can I do to achieve my goal of lightweightness?
I don't fear of using advanced techniques, as long as there's good information about it, because I like to learn

Well, you can change the compression used by the kernel to optimize for size over speed. Then there's the optional stuff within the kernel that can be stripped away for a highly-minimal base system.
I'm fairly certain that Arch ships more packages with X than the 'big names' (feel free to correct if I'm wrong here), which set the system up themselves and can skip anything they don't need (not to mention the huge number of patches a distro like Ubuntu adds to their system).
You can even use certain switches within GCC that compile for small sizes over raw speed.
Oh, and yeah, Damn Small wouldn't use Gnome .

Thanks to the help of you guyzzzz. I just ordered my 1st Mac. I am quickly leaving behind my 20 year PC PAST!
Studio2, 3.0 Dual Quad Core with the 23" monitor. It should be coming Fri or Sat. At that time I will be sliding in 8 more gigs of ram (total 9) & a striped raid 0 SATA set of 3, 750 gig drives.
I am anxiously waiting for the WD Enterprise RE2 750 gigerssss but they won't be available for a couple more weeks. Temporarily I have 2, 250 gig seagates laying around from my PC, for the video drive until the WD come available.
* Is there another 750 that would be great in a raid?
* What program can I get to backup my system drive so I can restore the OS whenever I need too? The PC has Norton Ghost.

In all seriousness, I use a 23" Cinema - now that's a beautiful display - and an older 15" HP LCD monitor (1024x768 resolution) from a PC that died recently (hehe).
If I had to do it all over again, I'd simply buy a single 30" monitor. Two monitors are nice with FCP and Color (the real estate is used effectively) but Motion, LiveType and Soundtrack Pro do not have dual monitor configurations. DVDSP does, but it's absolutely worthless (just the Palette and Inspector windows on the second screen). I know the idea of a 30" is polarizing, but considering how much space Soundtrack Pro and Motion like, it would be nice. And FCP is nice with a 30" too.
Um, sorry, got off on a tangent.
Unless you're doing hardcore work in Color - which really utilizes two widescreen monitors, I'd argue that, in a dual monitor FCS configuration, the second monitor does not have to be a widescreen one. For FCP, it'll basically house your Browser, which I always keep in List mode, so having a widescreen monitor makes little sense. If you're a Large Icon View person - or, considering you're an FCP rookie, if you become a Large Icon View person - maybe it might be worth it.
But I'd wait to get your machine, then give yourself some time to play with all the apps and see what you think will work best for you...

My IPhoto library is gone and I cannot find it. I have found an earlier version witha few photos but the big one is gone. Any ideas?

My IPhoto library is gone and cannot be found. There is an IPhoto in Applications marked "original". I can find the one I'm looking for using Time Machine but when I try to open it it says that it cannot be opened as there is a newer version installed. Any help would greatly be appreciated:-)

Download and use Find Any File to search for the file "Library6.iPhoto" which is in every iPhoto Library package. If you find more than one check both to see if one is your missing library.

View other stacked tabs in a JSPX page besides the first one?

Hi,
Does anyone know how I can view other <af:showDetailItem> items in a jspx page (stacked tabs) in the Visual JSF/HTML Editor in Jdev 10.1.3.0? I cannot find a way to view other tabs than the first tab (I have a page generated with JHeadstart with stacked tabs), I can select them in source code or the structure pane, but the editor remains on the first stacked tab.

I downloaded the web developer tool bar and after using it my images are gone. I use google and a home page and the big google is gone. I uninstalled firefox and reinstalled it but I still don't have any images. How can I get them back?

Two days ago I downloaded the web developer tool bar (aus2.mozilla.com). I tried to use it but gave up. I deleted the tool bar.
I don't have any images anymore. I use Google.com as my home page (default) and the large GOOGLE isn't there anymore. I've also noticed some of the sites I use don't have the continue or next or enter keys anymore. It seems the only thing I have now is the text.

Are you sure you are looking at the Google page?? In Firefox 4.0 the default homepage / Start Page in Firefox was changed to '''about:home''' which looks a lot like the former www.google.com/firefox homepage.

How to delivering book pages to the screen one by one??

I have written a lot on www, see http://www.europas-historie.net/ and there have been more than a million visitor, and there was very much work and no money to earn. Now I will try something new. I will translate texts which are in the public domain into Norwegian, Kafka, Mark Twain, Tolstoy, Maupassant etc. og publish some of them as ordinary books, and will make them available for download as pdf-files, for a fee.
I will give free access to a large part of these texts and books, but not let readers download all the texts. I will like to show them the way books.google.com gives readers access to books on the screen, or the way Amazon lets readers look inside books, or the way safaribooksonline.com do it. Which software do these sites use? It looks to me like there is a pdf file and a program which delivers pages from this file to the screen? Which programs/software is necessary to do this? Is it possible in Dreamweaver? How? Which software will let me do it most easely?

You are asking the wrong question(s). This has little or nothing to do with the frontend programming. Much more important is the backend and, since you obviously are not terribly rich, I'd say forget it. What you would need is the following:
- multiple databases managing the indices for authors, titles etc.
- databases for holding text and images for the books
- a dynamic PDF generating software or alternatively a huge storage holding all the PDFs ready to use
- databases holding the preview pages as HTML and images or alternatively a processing software that can extract and convert that data from the data to be used in the books
Only after that can you worry about the frontend, but it still means implementing a search engine and a way to navigate. Obviously there is some overlap and bits and pieces can be left out, but if you realyl want it the fancy way, you need a lot more than Dreamweaver. Even if mySQL, Ghostscript, Tex2PDF and other stuff are free, you need considerable juice on the server end and wil lspend a lot of time getting it to run/ keep it running. Therefore I do not see it ever coming into the daylight.
Instead consider a much, much simpler solution. Install a pre-configured content management system like Joomla, Typo3 or a blog software like WordPress. They all offer easy database management and allow managed uploads/ downloads as well as user management. You would hack the excerpts from the books in the database and the users can view them as normal HTML/PHP pages. If they decide to buy, they'd send you an automated message via a contact form and then you grant them access to the files on the server by setting up a user account and directory that gives them access to their book. Of course it's still quite a bit of manual intervention, but that's the only way I can see it working without financially ruining yourself.
