PodCast: problem adding photos to the Podcast Track!

Hi all,
I was just making my 1st podcast when I encountered a strange problem: I wanted to drag&drop photos from the media browser but not all of them worked!
Some photos could be dropped without a problem (instatntly visible by the green + ball sticking to the mouse pointer) while with others this green + icon doesn't appear and the photo won't drop into the Podcast Track.
I consulted the GB Help but to no avail.
However, I observed the following: all my photos in portrait format work and all my photos in landscape format don't work.
The photos are taken with my DSLR camera and have a resolution of 3008x2000 pixel.
So, together with the portrait/landscape observation: could it be that 2000 pixel by 2000 pixel is the max size of a photo so that it can be dropped onto the Podcast Track?
A double click on a photo in the media browser doesn't open GB's own little photo editor (opposed to when you double click on a photo in the markers track list) so one can't crop the photos within GB.
So, do I need to crop the landscape 3008x2000 images in iPhoto (or any other sim. app.) first?
Any comments?
Thanks a lot & cheers from Germany,
Stefan.

Hey Stefan,
A couple of potential issues here. First off you may be right that there's some type of file size limit issue, either because there's a max filesize built-in, or because since you're able to "scale" your photos for display within the chapter/markers area, maybe GB wants a file it knows it can work with reasonably.
Secondly, I'd be wary of putting lots of large photos in your cast, as that may contribute to giant file sizes on export. The one thing you might want to test is to see what GB does with the photos when you've selected the Preferences>Export>Set Artwork to recommended size for Podcasts check box.
Or maybe try unchecking that box (if you have it checked now) and then see if a big photo can then be brought in.
What I've been doing with large photos is exporting them from iPhoto at a smaller scale, then importing them into a new album, or in the case of images from the web, just adding them to iPhoto and scaling them in GB in the chapter markers area. I also use Photoshop to "pre-scale" but I wouldn't think it was necessary just for a Podcast.
Hopefully this helps.

It's the password for your outgoing mail in your Mail account. You need to set it up in your Preferences.

  • Problems downloading photos from the camera to iPod

Last week I tried to download photos from the camera to my 60 GB iPod.
I had almost near 150 pictures (jpg) but something happened. The iPod (or the iPod Camera Connector) isn't able to transfer more than 60 photos (aprox.).
For bigger amounts, the tranfer speeds up and after finishing, I can't find the photos and I can't transfer photos anymore or listen to music o play videos.
Is there any restriction concerning photo transfer? What could be the problem?
    Thanks.

As a matter of fact. After giving my camera a complete charge, I have had
    no more problems
That is why a card reader is so useful. You do not have to wait for the camera to charge and avoid the kind of errors above.

  • Added photos to the video timeline but they don't display.

I have added some photos to the video timeline but they don't display. The end of the last clip is frozen and then the next clip starts once the time for the photo display has elapsed.
A previous photo that I'd inserted in the project previously DOES run correctly. I suspect it may be to do with the fact that I've used cutaways in part of the video. However, where I'm inserting the photos is not in a section where there is an existing cutaway.

It would appear that it's a bug with iMovie. It won't let me add new photos to the duplicated project, but it WILL let me add them to the original project.
After searching the Discussion forums, it would appear that it has affected other users; some have used 'workarounds', but the solution doesn't always work for all. Hope Apple can address it.

I believe that you have gone into the iPhoto library and made changes using photoshop - is that correct
If so then you have trashed your iPhoto library and must put it back exactly as it was - loading a backup is the easiest (probably the only) way
NEVER make any changes to the content or structure of the iPhoto library using the finder or any program that is not fully iPhoto aware

  • Keyword list problem: "No photos match the filter"

    LR4.1 64-bit Windows 7
I have  relatively small (1k), and completely flat (non-hierarchical) keyword list.
for a small number of keywords, I have the following problem:
If I open Library, witht the centre panel in Grid View, then select Keyword List from the RHS panel, and select one these "problem" keywords, On the rhs of the screen it shows a number, indicating the number of images to which this keyword is attached.
I then click the arrow next to the number to display the images with this keyword.
the library filter opens in the centre panel of the screen area, dropping down the Keyword filter and correctly highlighting the selected keyword; however against this, the keyword show 0 matches and the message "No photos match the filter" is displayed.
If I right-click on the keyword in the Keyword List  and select delete, the message is displayed that the keyword will be deleted from n photos
Thus I don't  know if there are photos with the keyword which are just not being displayed, or whether there are a number of "phantom" keywords which are not associated with any images.
It may be that I am lacking understanding of some aspect of LR functionality; or that somehow there is an indexing problem within my LR catalogue.
thanks in advance for any help and advice

Thanks, I've been having this trouble in my catalog since LR3, problem is still there in LR4.3.
I used your suggestion to show the offending photos in a smart collection and could finally see the photos to fix all the keywords that way.
Most of mine have come from duplicate keywords that I accidentally created - I have a hierarchy of keywords and some have appearedin two places. So I have been trying to delete the old unwanted ones but have not been able to see the photos when using the filter or the keyword arrow.
My solution was to rename every one of the old dud keywords with a suffix of "XXX" - this also helps me to not use those old keywords again. Then I made a smart collection that simply searches for all keywords containing "XXX". From the collection, I go through the photos and replace the old keywords with the new corrected one. Once the filter shows the count of the number of photos down to 0 as it should be, I can finally delete that old keyword!
I am keeping this new collection (called "XXX Keywords to fix") for when it happens later... This sure sounds like a bug that Adobe needs to sort out.

  • Problem: it bounces only the selected track

I'm having this problem when bouncing a project: it bounces only the selected track on the arange window, so I can't select the output 1-2 to get the bounce of the whole project because it does not appear in the arrange window, only in the environment or the mixer
So, first of all: anyone does know why is this happening? Is just an issue or maybe I'm doing something wrong?
And, if it's an issue, how could I create a track in the arrange window assigned to the output 1-2, so I can select it to bounce the whole project?
    Thanks in advance
    Message was edited by: ardigaldu

You're mixing up something here. Outputs 1-2 don't have to appear in the Arrange window if you want to perform a bounce of your project and it doesn't matter which track is selected in your Arrange as long as you don't have Solo mode activated (either in the mixer or in the transport window).
Make sure solo mode is off - press the little bounce button at the bottom of Outputs 1-2 (or assign a Keycommand to the bouncing function) - set the locators for start and end point - select the file format and off you go.
If you want Outs 1-2 in your Arrange just right click on the Outs in your mixer - menue opens - select "create Arrange track".

  • Adding photos to the time line and having them transition faster

Hi, I have CS3 PP and I want to add photos to the timeline between clips. I'm able to add the groups of pictures to the timeline, but I want to decrease the time each picture is up, currently each photo is up for about 5 seconds before it transitions into the next photo.  How do make all the pictures in a group change to about 3 seconds before transitioning?
I also have to go into each photo when it's on the timeline and tell it to scale to frame, otherwise you can't see the entire photo. Is there a way to have all the photos scale to frame instead of having to go into each one seperatly?
    I appreciate all your help.
    Dan

    Welcome to the forums.
The unfortunate answer to both questions is that once they're on the timeline you have to adjust each one individually.
You can specify the duration of still before you import them.
You can automatically adjust the still size before you put them on the timeline.
You will find links to many free tutorials in the PremiereProPedia that will quickly show you how things are done in Premiere Pro.

  • Problem adding photos to a photo template page

I am using iWeb 3.0.4. After selecting a Photo template page I tried to drag an iPhoto event from Media sidebar that has 32 photos in it to the photo place holder on the page. Only 9 of the photos were transferred. Trying to drag any other photos, even a single photo, caused a text box with the name of the photo in it to be placed on the page and the Inspector window to open with the Link tab active.
Does anyone have any ideas on why or what to do?

Your library is damaged and my not be able to be totally recovered, i.e. recover albums, slideshows, etc. along with the photos.
If the original files for your photos are inside the library package (even if iPhoto can't display them) the following should create a new library with all of your photos.
Start over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
    1.  Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
    2. Open the library package like this.
    3. Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
    4. Drag the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.  Check it out carefully to see if all of your photos are represented in it.
Your current library will still be available for further fix attempts.

  • Problem adding contacts to the contact list in PSE7

I am running PSE 7 with Windows 7. I had a similar problem last February http://forums.adobe.com/thread/581476?tstart=0 trying to update the contact list. The only difference last year is a different PC and I was running XP.
I am running into the same problem today. In summary I could enter contacts manually or import via Outlook but once I closed the contact list and reopened nothing was updated. I followed all the instructions in John Ellis’s response http://forums.adobe.com/message/2583020#2583020 but it is not working this time. I am not logged into photoshop.com. I saw a link where this fixed someone else who was having a similar problem.
I have my preferences set to Microsoft Outlook. I am using Outlook 2003.
Does anyone have an idea what I should try next.

Yesterday I posted this thread. After I convinced my self that I was properly following the directions given by John Ellis I needed to start elsewhere to resolve the problem.
What I did was found my contacts.xml file and moved it to my documents folder. I then went back to the organizer and attempted to load the additional contacts expecting the contacts folder to be empty. It was not. I loaded the new contacts using the vcard/desktop method per John’s thread. Now everything is updating and an updated contact folder is in the original location.
Can anyone explain how the new contact folder acquired all the original contacts?

  • Problem adding Photos, changing layout

I'm trying to create a Book and when I change layout or want to change the picture, the page goes blank and can't add/change photos or layout?

Since the new library worked OK indicates that your orignal library is damaged to the point that it's not repairable. We've tried all of the fixes we know about.
This may be your next step which would mean recreating the book from scratch:
Starting over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
    1. Open the library package like this.
    2. Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
    3. Drag the subfolders of the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the open iPhoto Library package into the open iPhoto window a few at a time.
This will create a new library with the same Events (but not necessarily the same Event names) as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.
Note:  your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

  • Problem importing photos after the new Photos update:  When I drag photos from my desktop, why don't they don't replace the previously imported photos in "Last Import".

When I drag photos from my desktop to the new Photos icon, they don't replace the previously imported photos in "Last Import".

After several attempts, I now find that this is working for me.  I wasn't able to open the IMPORT folder in Photos until I clicked on "Close" from File Menu. Once I was able to open the IMPORT folder and select the photos for import, the new photos appeared in "Last Import."

  • Date Problem-adding 30days to the date in string format.

hi i have an Date in the form of String "yyyy-mm-dd",i have to add 30 days to that date and compare it with to days date,i try to convert the string in to date format using SimpleDateFormat, but i could not understand how to add 30 days to that.pl it's an urgent problem, any help would be appreciated.
    Regards.

to compare the date to todays date,
    Calendar todaysDate = Calendar.getInstance();
    todaysDate.after(cal2);
    todaysDate.before(cal2);
Depending on which way you want to know.
To get the String Format I would suggest something like :
    String dateInString = "" + cal2.get(Calendar.YEAR) + "-" + cal2.get(Calendar.MONTH) + "-" + cal2.get(Calendar.DATE);
Be careful though as this may give a format YYYY-M-D if the month or date is a single digit, so you may have to test string.length and then have "0"+cal2.get(Calendar.MONTH) /cal2.get(Calendar.DATE)
Hope this is of some help.

  • Problem adding photos

I'm trying to use a poster template in pages.  I want to add my own photos instead of the
placeholder photos.  When I click media to show my photos so I can dray and drop them,
iPhoto comes up full screen instead of in a column on the right side of my screen.
I can't drag and drop photos because it is full screen and covers my template.
How do I get my photos in a column on the right side of the screen?

    BW,
Click the Green Ball in the upper left corner of the Media Browser Window to resize it. Or, grab an edge and resize manually.
