Podcast Problems [Zen Tou

A few weeks ago I discovered the CBC Radio 3 podcast (http://www.cbcradio3.com/podcast/about.html). The first few downloads have been going well, but now when I try to transfer the files, Media Source says "Error: Unable to download file. The file format is invalid." I don't see how it's invalid since I can play it in any other MP3 player. When I try to convert the file format in the Audio Converter I get the message "Faild. Source file cannot be accessed."
So far I've been using the iPodder podcast client.
Any solutions?

Has anyone figured out what the problem with this is? I get the same thing.
I have used iPodder and Doppler as aggregators, and I run into the same problem with certain podcasts. It always happens with Coverville, and sometimes with This Week In Tech, and a few others. Not only won't the file transfer to the player, it won't even play in the Creative Media Center software. It's annoying! The files play in Windows Media Player just fine, and iPod users don't complain about some files not working. There is something in the encoding of certain mp3s that Creative doesn't seem to handle correctly.

As I mentioned this is a user forum. We are all volunteers. Apple does not read individual submissions unless a ToU violation is reported. If you want help specifically from Apple you need to contact them through Apple Support. When asking for help on these forums its best not to add to an unanswered post with a 'me too' comment but rather with your own post with details of your problem and ask specific questions.
So what have you done to try and troubleshoot the problem yourself? The lack of response suggests to me the problem is rather isolated, a glitch perhaps, to individual devices and not a wide spread bug in the OS. These glitches often occur from a bad install or corrupt data. As such for end users there are a few things you can do to try and resolve software issues and are informally known as the 4R's; Restart, Reset, Restore with back up, and Restore as new. Generally performed in that order. Test your device before going on to the next. Apple has provided the following support articles to help you do those:
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Back up and restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iCloud or iTunes - Apple Support

I know the Ricky Gervais podcast problem has been raised and that updating my firmware may help.
But how do you update when your ipod is in a coma?
Mine does not show in itunes, does not show charging when the charger is plugged in and doesn't respond to reset.
    Anybody have any solutions?

  • Problems with songs i downloaded with windows media player!!!!(zen tou

If I try to play songs i downloaded with windows media player My zen touch(20Gb) freezes and won't shut down:angry:. I have downloaded the latest firmware so that can't be the cause of the problem.
Can someone tell me what I can do about that.

If you mean you subscribed to iTunes Match, you have to import your music into your iTuens library in order to add it to iTunes Match.  iTunes Match (and iCloud) only works with iOS devices and computers.  It won't work with your iPod Classic; you'll have to sync that with iTunes in order to add your music.

  • Strange problems with my Zen tou

    Hi everyone,
I just bought a Zen touch. I added 500 legal music files before my the program said an error had occured. The songs loaded alphabetically and now from A-C are not on my player.
I have tried adding them but constantly get errors such as player not connected or busy. I have read a lot of threads here that did not help my specific problem. I also re-installed everything doing that msconfig thing etc but it did not help. My player is saying I still have 6gig left so that's not the problem.
I'm not sure what else I can do. I know the player is connected because my library loads sometimes, I get the 'docked' message on the player AND my PC makes a noise etc. The USB connection should be fine.
I just think it's weird how 500/700 songs loaded straight away and now I can't even add a song. Has anyone please got some ideas?
    Thanks a lot,

  • Problem with Enqueueing (Zen Tou

    Hi,
i received a 20 GB Zen Touch shortly and have one question.
While playing tracks in the correct order when i choose "Play" on an artist or album in my music library, the Zen Touch makes a mistake when i choose Enqueue. The first artist is played still correctly (because i didnt enqueue it but started it "directly"), but then when all tracks of this artist are finished, it plays all the tracks of the next artist in alphabetical order and not, as i wanted it, in the order of the original tracks. The ID3-Tags are all correct (tracks (#0, #02. etc.) are always charted).
Does anyone please know a solution for that problem or is it an unfixed bug?
PS: I have not updated the firmware yet, would that solve the problem?

When you queue tracks by artist they play in alphabetical order. It's just a feature of queuing. You have to queue by album individually to get them to play in album order.

  • Fake "harddisk problem" error..... grrrr [zen Tou

well it started 2 weeks ago on my Zen Touch.. i got the recovery window and the "harddisk problem" error. so i gave it back to the ppl i got it from and 2 weeks later i passed by and they said they didnt see any problem... and in fact everything was working perfectly.
so i get home listen to some music and then i get the same error again, i shut the thing off a couple of times and it starts working again.
20 minuts later the same thing happened, but now the error window is not going away. I doubt it a real problem because the harddisk sounds smooth when i turn on the Zen Touch, but its still not working.
Anyone had the same problem and can help me?

The same thing happened to my Zen Xtra 5-6 mos. after I first used it
This is what I sent to the customer support e-mail:
    <SPAN><FONT face=Arial>
The player was purchased on 2/4/04 but was not used until 2/25/04. Starting on approx. 5/3/05, the player would freeze and after the battery was removed and replaced the "EAX Audio" screen would remain on the LCD and a "clicking" sound was heard until the battery was removed and replaced numerous times. On 6/2/05 the "Rescue Mode" screen appeared after the battery was removed but disappeared after the player automatically turned itself off and was turned back on. On 6/4/05 the player froze and the battery was removed again, but the "Rescue Mode" screen would repeatedly appear rather than function normally after a restart. In "Rescue Mode" the "Reboot" and "Clean Up" functions were used with no success. The "Reload OS" and then "Format All" functions were used and each time the "Harddisk Problem" screen would appear and then the "Rescue Mode" screen reappeared. The website troubleshooting instructions were followed numerous times with no success.
Is it because it is dropped too many times?:smileyindifferent:

  • The firmware problem that never dies (Zen Tou

I've followed EVERY fix (except reloading my OS), nothing works. My zen sits in recovery mode without firmware, its incapable of reloading firmware or being recognized by my computer. I give up on fixing this cursed piece of technology, Creative support has been utterly uselss, and forum solutions are not much of a solution for me.
My question is, has anyone sent it back for repairs? I want to know how much those repairs are going to cost me. I can't believe Creative even has the nerve to charge me for their own faulty software, *insert explati'ves that creative won't let me post*

Try this solution. Make sure you have WMP0 installed in the PC first.
) Connect the player to the PC
    2) Goto Control Panel->System-> Click on the the 'Hardware' Tab-> Device Manager
    3) Click on the 'Windows Portable Devices' and select the 'Zen Touch'
    4) Right click the mouse and 'uninstall' the device
    5) Reconnect the Zen Touch the PC again for the PC to detect
    6) Reflash your P4S Firmware again
    This might work.

  • Podcast with Zen visio

Hi if got a question may i am a bit stupid but is it possible to get a podcast on a zen vison:m
I talk from PODCAST not ZENcast ok?
PLS i am a german so write simple english pls^^
    THX cya

<EM>My second Zen has been performing ok since I cleaned it up. Hopefully this will solve problem. If it continues, I will be purchasing an Ipod.</EM>
    <EM></EM>
John that is exactly what I opted to do. I was just too nervous making this kind of investment to have the customer service response so lacking, along with the weak warranty.
I got an iPod, though I really didn't want too. I was able to get the Hi-Fi speaker system, JVC car adapter kit so that the text information and control of my iPod is done via my JVC head unit. These two things alone made the switch worth while. I really like the ZV:M, but with the above mentioned issues and no real accessories this was a no brainer. I know folks say on the display isn't as good, but it is good enough for watching video podcast occasionally, I didn't buy the ZV:M or iPod to watch videos. But I can tell you the touch pad is better and doesn't dri've nuts.
By the way I've not had one single issue. No clattering MP3 playback and no freezing up... not a single time and I've used the iPod for going on 4 days. Today was the first full day I used it on the road in my truck, in the office and to take a slow walk around the property to check on my animals. Flawless performance! I am happy! If only I could have had this with the Zen Vision:M. I really wanted to support Creative, but this is what happens when you don't do a better job with quality control and testing your product. I had not realize that Creative is actually in 3rd place, well behind San Disk which is in 2nd place by a country mile behind Apple. Now I understand why no one makes accessories for the Creative MP3 players.

  • Podcast Problem - how can i add artwork to apple blog rss link

    hi,
i create a wiki blog page on our mac server, on the blog page i add video for podcasting and i enable podcast service on wiki settings. Then i take rss link from safari and i subscribe to itunes but when itunes check my link, there isnt artwork and i cant change the rss link code cause of the link generated automaticly from java. What can i do for this problem or how can i add artwork to apple blog servers rss link ?
    Thank you

    Bonjour,
The rules are simple: one entry = one page
if an article needs several pages, start this article on blog entry then continue with a page made with welcome page template or blank page template.
you can change the link of the buttons "next" and "previous" to visit the pages you choose.
(select the link > inspector > Link > hyperlink > check enable as a hyperlink > choose "one of my pages" ).
Don't include these other pages in navigation menu.
(inspector > Page > Page > uncheck "include page in navigation menu").

  • Video Playing problem (Zen Vision M 60

I just got my 60gb zen vision M for christmas and i started transfering files right away to test out its playback quality etc
When i get to video particularly my anime video it plays the first 5 or so seconds and then freezes... no sound and no video.
The video is a naruto video from dattebayo fansubs. I think it is divx encoded (will double check to make sure)
What should i do to solve this issue?
I have not tried any other video's as yet but will do so soon

**bleep** it looks like it's slight differences in the encoding of the files that determin whether or not they play
I used Bleach episode coded by Lunar and that worked fine.
If it is down to minor differences in encoding that's causing this problem, surely it should be fixed as soon as possible, because of the massi've amount of different ways of encoding the player isn't really fit for avi playback if it's this temperamental :/
    *UPDATE*
I've looked at the bleach file that works and the Naruto file that doesn't work in GSPOT.
There are a few very minor differences that I don't really understand but the one that jumps out at me is the container:
The naruto files that don't work have the container 'Multipart OpenDML AVI, "rec list" style DivX Style "packed bitstream" AVI (223 frames in first part, 639 frames follow)' and the bleach file that works is 'OpenDML (AVI v2.0) DivX Style "packed bitstream" AVI'
I've bolded what I think the problem is, would those 223 frames (first part) be the 8/9 seconds before it freezes?
    Could this be the problem?
    *FURTHER UPDATE*
The naruto file that has the line 'First part 223' lasts 9 seconds whereas another file that has the line '(205 frames in first part, 32998 frames follow)' lasts 8.
I'm almost certain this is what the problem is.......any chance of a firmware fix for the avi playback not supporting multipart AVI files?

  • Problem zen vision:m install

when I all install from zen vision :m cd and when I connection player from usb nothing do. when I go too zen vision:M Media explorer and there write "please connect your Creative portable player "after I rewrite all but nothing.with my usb all good. I li've in Lithuania and my English speech very bad( if you know what me do write me too my skype Nick viktorasasas3333

    Oh, right, sorry.
"OS Name: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
    Version: 5..2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600"
Though currently, I'm installing Windows XP Service Pack 3 via Windows Automatic Updates.
    WMP Version: .0.572.5230
Should I uninstall WMP entirely to eliminate it as a possible factor?
(I have Winamp so I don't really need WMP.)
Are you saying that once I rollback my WMP to WMP0, my computer will be capable of reading my Zen & thus, allowing me to download the firmware and restoring it's previous condition (minus the contents-music, video, pictures, etc.)
Also, I tried to see if my Zen would try to connect to my laptop - I uninstalled the Zen program on it before connecting it, to see if anything would come up, allowing me to do anything, etc. But no, it just said "My Zen" but I couldn't do anything with that. And then I installed all of the software on the Creative Installation CD. After all of that, apparently my computer acknowledges that a device is connected via USB because it gives me an option as to what to do with it - open it, play it with wmp, explore, etc. The problem though was that the Creative program itself wouldn't acknowledge that it was connected. So I still had the "The player is not connected."
Just thought this might make a difference -
I also was looking for some kind of repair shops or sites that would be capable of repairing my Zen - the only thing I came across was http://www.zenrepair.com/Zen/index.jsp - does anyone know anything about this site? If it's reliable, etc. (Just a back up option in case this situation isn't solveable by other Zen peers.)
Also, thanks again for any help, effort, attempt, etc.

  • Syncing podcasts problems

I have an iPod Touch 2G but have been having problems syncing my podcasts. The sync process does not seem to recognize when a podcast has been listened to on the iPod and will not mark it as read on the master list in iTunes.
This morning I again tried to sync my iPod to eliminate all the read/listened to podcasts from the iPod. I was able to add all the new podcast episodes but nothing got removed and nothing got marked in iTunes as having been listened to. In other words the blue dots were correctly identifying used podcasts on the iPod but would not update my list on iTunes. I tried syncing using all, all new and all unplayed with the same results each time.
When I look at the podcast list on my iPod using it's menu in iTunes everything has blue dots including all my listened to podcasts! Yet, when I check the iPod itself the blue dots correctly identify listened to, partially listened to and not yet listened to status of each podcast.
What I have to do right now is sync the iPod to get all new material installed and then disconnect the iPod from my computer and manually go through each podcast, visually compare titles of each session, see if it was listened to on the iPod and then delete it from the iTunes list. This seems ridiculous!
My old iPod mini used to sync without a problem and I could rely upon iTunes to update and maintain my list of podcasts.
So what setting am I missing to be able to get iTunes to sync and update the status/blue dots on my podcasts?
    Thanks for any help.
    Sue

I suspect you're not missing any setting.
I recently noticed that an episode I had listened to fully and did not have the blue button next to it, suddenly got the blue button back again! No - I'm not imagining it, it was the only episode of that particular programme that I had listened to. It probably happened after a Sync.
There is another slight problem with the Touch though. The Touch has the new feature of a partial blue dot for a part-listened-to episode, which I like very much, but iTunes does not recognise the partial blue dot. When I've checked, iTunes completely removes the blue dot even though the Touch has a partial. Therefore, I keep all episodes on the Touch, to make sure iTunes doesn't think I've finished with it and remove it.
    Phil.

  • ITunes 11.4 podcast problem

Ever since upgrading to iTunes 11.4 my podcasts are not refreshing. They were all subscribed to prior to the upgrade, but now all show the option "Subscribe" - however, clicking "Subscribe" does nothing. No response at all. Neither does "Refresh Podcast" when I know the podcast has new episodes. It only seems to function correctly when I delete, then re-subscribe to the Podcast via the iTunes store.
Is this a known problem? Is there a fix in the works? Are there steps I might take to correct this?

I have no answers for ya, but I do have the same problem, so we are not alone in this.
My iTunes stopped working after I did a couple of software updates that got my iTunes up to v. 11.4. Since that update, I can't get iTunes to open at all, neither from my dock nor from the Applications menu.
I'm wondering: Perhaps these latest iTunes updates are simply too advanced for my 10.6.8 operating system? If that's the case, how can I backtrack to an earlier version of iTunes that is compatible with my computer OS?
    Any thoughts?
