Podcast stops playing

When I am playing a podcast and my screen turns off my podcast turns off too. How can I keep it playing without having to touch the screen every minute?

I have this very same problem.  When you start playing a podcast and the screen dims and goes black, the sound dims and stops playing.  This also happens when you want to exit the podcasts app or when multitasking to other apps.  The podcast shows in the multitask menus but you cannot play them while in another app.  Nor does tapping play from the lock screen.
Actually, this just happened to me a few minutes ago from working normally.
I hate this new app, it's the buggiest app apple has ever made, but it sort-syncs with my iTunes to I just try not to get too upset that it completely *****.  Syncing is has mixed results.  Sometimes it picks up new episodes, and sometimes not.  Sometimes even when you go to the catalog and manually download a podcast, it doesn't work.  But that's another topic for another forum.

  • Why do some podcasts stop playing & how do I fix it?

    Hi.
I seem to have a bug with some of my podcasts. I subscribe to a few and I've noticed that sometimes there will be a "bug" in a particular episode which means it just stops playing at a particular point in the item - this can be at the beginning, middle or towards the end. At first, I thought it was only related to some of the more "amateur" podcasts I subscribed to. But now, I've noticed that it is also happening with a high quality series I subscribe to. It doesn't happen on every episode/file; eg, two will be faulty and then the next two will play fine.
Any ideas on what could be causing this bug and how to overcome it?
    thanks

Yes and no. I just got my wife a Nano, but before that I was the only user and account. Yes, I run as admin occasionally - had the same results either way.
I changed all the type tags for the items in my library (and then deleted them for good measure - I drag and drop, not sync, so my library isn't that important anyway). I'll give this a try and see if it works. I guess time will tell.
Thanks for the idea of checking the Type tag!! I wasn't aware of that. It gives me some things to experiment with.
    Thx! S

  • Podcasts Stop Playing

Maybe this has been discussed but I can't see it. It looks to be a reverse bug - that is a bug that changes the new podcast app backwards.
In the old way of playing a podcast via iTunes if you are playing in the car and get a call, after the call finishes, the podcast would resume.
NOW however it just stops forcing you to open the app, and tap play - kinda dangerous Apple while you are driving.
Is there a fix for this or is this simply a case of messing up a perfectly logical process?
    thanks
    Rob

I also have the problem of podcasts prematurely stopping. I have found that this happens consistently with short podcasts from KCRW (e.g. Film Reviews and the Urban Man) but not with podcasts from other providers of similar length (~4.5 minutes). Additionally longer podcasts (30 to 60 min) from KCRW are unaffected.
Sometimes iTunes will play through, and some times stop prematurely. Sometimes iTunes will repeatedly stop at the same point in the podcast. However, it is always possible to play the remainder of the podcast by clicking on the progress bar at some point beyond the premature stopping point.
The premature stopping point is always near the end
This has happened on both my MacBook Pro with the most recent iTunes, and on an iBook G3 300 running 10.3.9, latest and earlier versions of iTunes.
The podcast files in question are mp3's and the "encoder" field states "Unknown" .
Quicktime Player seems to play my prematurely stopping podcasts without any problem.
If anyone has any idea what is going on, advice is appreciated.

  • IPod no longer stops playing when a podcasts ends

Starting with iPod software 2.1 and iTunes 8.0, my iPod Touch 1st Gen. no longer stops playing when the end of a Podcast is reached. It will start playing the next Podcast episode in the list although that is an older podcast that I have already listened to.
Prior to these software updates, I would be listening to, let's say, the MacCast podcast number 100, when it finished, the iPod would stop. I could then go up the list and play a newer episode or switch to a different podcast. However, now, once episode 100 finishes, the next episode down the list is number 99 and it starts playing automatically (even though I have already listened to it).
Is there some new setting I am missing? Is anyone else having this problem?
    Regards,

It's a new "feature" of the latest firmware upgrade.
    I personally hate it.

I have a 5th gen ipod and recently all of my video podcasts stopped showing up in my ipod.  They still show up and play in itunes, just not in my video podcast list on my ipod.  All of the podcasts are Quicktime Large.  For some reason my ipod has stopped supporting Quicktime Large.  Now I've had to redownload every video podcast as Quicktime Small.
Anyone have any ideas whether this is from the the software version 1.3 and if they'll fix it in the next update?

I'm having same problem, but QT Small videos are also not getting synced.

  • Podcasts stops and plays a previous one

In my itunes (latest update), my podcasts randomly stop and played the previous episode. This patterns seems random as well. I don't download podcasts, but stream them (right click, play). However, when I download the podcast and play it, its fine. But I would rather stream it.
Also, my internet is fine. I am on blazing fast university internet.
Does anyone have a fix for this?

delete off any apps that are asking for the wrong apple id and download/sync them over from the correct one

  • I'm having issues with audio apps randomly stopping and starting. Also, Siri just randomly opens. For example, podcasts will stop playing in the middle of a playback. Do you have any thoughts?

So I noticed the problem with the app iHeart Radio. While listening to the app, it would stop playing without any noticeable issues. For example, I'm on a WiFi network, operating it where I normally had no issues. I deleted the app because if became so annoying. I now notice the same issues with podcast app when playing back a downloaded program. Also, more than a few times of the day Siri will just randomly open. I am wondering what options do I have to discover the problem. COuld it be the most recent IOS update? I don't want to have to restore an old backup and loose data.

  • Nano stops playing podcasts after apx 30 mins.

Each track I have is apx. 1 hour long. My nano will just stop playing them after about 30-33 minutes and return to the default main menu. On rare occasions it will go passed that point but if I touch any control, such as the volume, it stops playing.
Each track plays the full 1 hour+ on problem on iTunes.
    Any information is good information.

I have a nano 2g, 8gig and it stops playing podcasts when there are still 45 seconds left. It doesn't do this all the time but it happens frequently.

  • Shuffle 2 stopped playing audio podcasts

Hi. I have a Shuffle 2nd generation that just stopped playing audio podcasts. I've been listening to music and OTR and CBC Radio podcasts, and all of a sudden it stopped playing the podcasts. Music plays fine, but if I just load it with podcasts, and try to play them, my little light just blinks (saying "you don't have anything loaded!"). It still plays the music, but skips over each podcast.
The podcasts are good. I used to play the exact same ones a month or two ago - then it just stopped playing them. I can listen to the podcasts on Itunes, and can listen to them on my old Shuffle 1st generation.
    Help!

ooh, I did a bit more research and found a solution for my problem.
iPod shuffle won't play podcasts if its in shuffle mode.  You have to switch it to linear mode.
I did that and now it plays just fine.  Hopefully that's all that was wrong with yours as well.
I must have accidentally switched mine by accident and not realized it.

  • ITunes stops playing songs/podcasts/etc whenever I move my mouse.

I have no idea why this happens but its really aggrivating.

when I move my mouse Itunes stops playing music. Sometimes this happens immediatly and sometime it take 10 to 15 sec.
At various stages over the years, mouse-related iTunes trouble has been associated with driver conflicts. So it might be worth following up on that possibility.
Head to the drivers and downloads page for your model of PC, and check to make sure you're not behind on any chipset and input-device-related driver updates. (And while there, just in case, also check to make sure your BIOS, sound-card/integrated audio, and video-card/display-adaptors are up to date.)
If you're behind on anything, and you update, does that help with the mouse-related iTunes issues?

  • Quicktime Plugin/Firefox stops playing mp3 after a few seconds

We've run into a problem with Quicktime Player in Firefox (Win XP) only playing the first few seconds of an mp3. It doesn't happen with all mp3s, but out of the five we've tested four showed this problem... only one of the five played through to the end.
When accessing the mp3 file, quicktime plugin loads with the big Q, takes a few seconds (i.e. seems to be downloading the full file), displays the controller, then starts playing. The progress bar moves quickly to the right and stops when it reaches the far right. For some of the mp3s it's only a second or two, for one it is about 8 seconds. The ones that only play for a second or two are regular music mp3s of about 3-5 minutes in length. The one that plays 8 seconds, is really 17 minutes, 42 seconds long.
All of these seem to play fine with the Quicktime plugin in IE. And all the files play fine in iTunes and Quicktime as local files as well as streaming.
The music files are mp3s generated by iTunes using the "Convert to MP3" function (original files are m4a files from the iTunes store).
The longer file (a podcast) was generated by a third party, so I'm not sure what tools were used to generate it, however I've tested two versions generated by iTunes that also did not play past 8 seconds:
    - Original encoding with ID3 tags converted to a different version by iTunes
    - New encoding generated by iTunes using the "Convert to MP3" function
(FWIW, renaming the files doesn't make a difference either.)
I have confirmed that this is happening for a colleague of mine on his computer as well.
Reloading the page/mp3 file (F5), force-reload (control-F5), disabling the cache (using Web-Developer Plugin, or Firebug), clearing the cache (through Firefox's Options->Advanced->Network->Offline Storage settings, or through "Clear Recent History") ... none of these seem to make a difference.
However, I did notice that for the files that weren't working, using Firebug's Net panel, it looks like the plugin starts *and finishes* playing the file before the file is completely downloaded (i.e. the player stops playing and the Net panel still shows the file downloading -- usually for a few seconds more before it is completely downloaded).
(And now the one mp3 file that was playing fine is no longer playing. It too just plays a second or two then stops...)
This is with Firefox 3.6.3 and Quicktime Plugin 7.6.6 on Windows XP Pro.

  • Smart Playlists Stop Playing After Each Track

After updating iTunes to version 10.0.1.22 my smart playlists stop playing after each track. All songs or Podcasts in my smart playlists are checked so they should be playing consecutively but they're not.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Make sure the little boxes to the left of the song names are checked. If you need to check all the songs in a single view at once, hold the CTRL key and check any one of the boxes.

Podcast stopped downloading - note popped up telling me to press the "get" button to continue download-WHERE is the "get" button?

    Thank you, Roger.
I kind of tried this, and when I clicked on the cloud, an "X" appeared and the podcast title became ghosted!
Had to wait a lengthy time for all the rest of the podcasts to load (I only connect with iTunes on my ext. hard drive about twice a week), and then go back and "refresh" these - they played all the way through and then were loaded.  This is just the latest mishap with iTunes, which periodically never loads my 3 subscriptions for weeks at a time, and I have to manually load them from the various sites offering the podcasts.  No one at the Apple Store knows what is wrong, and they all finally admit that it's an Apple error and not a site screwup!  I will muddle along and hope the next time I plug in my Est. HD to open itunes that this will not happen!
Again, thanks - and have a good day :-)

  • For certain songs on my iPhone 4s with iOS7 some songs stop playing audio but continue playing the song almost as if it were muted. Where can I fix this? Say "Stronger" by Kanye West stops playing sound after 2:25 but it is 5 minutes long.

Basically it is just like it says. Certain songs stop playing sound after a certain point in the song but the song continues playing and ticking down like it normally would. Does anyone else have this problem?

Hi I found the answer from another post. So far everything is working find. I been trying to fix this since march,

Deleting the application rarely solves anything on Macs. A better starting point is normally to delete the preference file for the application (in Users/~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.itunes.plist) or see if you have the same problem in another user account on the computer.
