Podcast submitted to iTunes not listed in directory

I submitted a podcast to iTunes nearly two weeks ago. It said it would take a week to evaluate. I see nothing in the directory. I've heard nothing from the iTunes store.
How does the process usually work?

Hi, I also submitted a podcast and it has not shown on iTunes store yet nor have I received any response or confirmation.
Please if you do get an answer on this can you email me to [email protected]
it will be greatly appreciated.

  • Podcast not listed in directory

Yesterday I received an email notification that my podcast has been approved. The link they sent does take me to the podcast. However, it does NOT show up in the directory itself. Any ideas why?
Just to avoid any confusion: I have an old podcast listed by the same name ("CrossWay Church Sermon Podcast"), but it's not the right one. I can't remove it because the feed no longer exists, and no one from iTunes will remove it for me--I've been trying for weeks. You'll know it's the old feed if it lists the artist as "Nathan Hyde." The correct and active feed lists the artist as "Pastor Nathan Hyde."
    My feed is http://feeds.feedburner.com/CrossWay
    Thanks!

Are you trying to find it by browsing? If so, as explained below, you will not see it in Browse because the Christianity category no longer will display any new podcasts.
The problem is that many new podcast listings will NOT appear in the iTunes Browse function. For example my podcast of BOOK HOBBY will not appear in Literature, just as certainly hundreds and possibly thousands of other podcasts will disappointingly not appear in their proper Browse categories. The problem is in the way that iTunes displays browse categories. It will only display 1,000 titles in each category maximum. Anything beyond the 1,000 titles is simply not at all displayed in that browse category. So, for example, in the Literature category I can easily and quickly find dozens and dozens of podcasts that have not been updated in more than a year, which have bad descriptions, which duplicate themselves over and over, whose rss files result in errors, but my podcast which I frequently update and which follows all the rules cannot be found by browsing in the main catgeory of Literature I want it to be found in because, well, 1,000 displayed is it. It does not matter how long you wait.
I wrote to Apple about this a few months ago (late February). I had to write more than ten emails before I finally got to someone who had any concept of what I was talking about. They wrote back that they were aware of this problem and that it would be fixed "in a few weeks."
So what I have had to do was to choose two other categories that have less than 1,000 displayed to appear in and that sort of works. It only sort of works because the whole point of catgorization should be to put thing in the BEST categories. I did, for reasons of a proper power-search, keep the main category Literature.
I have to say that I am amazed that with all the FAQs from Apple that are dead wrong about this, with so many people having their podcasts not shown as they should be, with the resulting problems to users, that the whole podcast community is not talking about this on every Forum in every venue that supports podcasting. This is not just a small problem. This cuts to the heart of people starting new podcasts.
After writing the above I decided to see how widespread this iTunes bug is -- are there just a few categories affected? I was astonished at how many Browse categories now have 1,000 listings and will not, for reasons of the display bug or problem or design show any further new ones. If you are doing a new podcast in the following areas, well they already display 1,000 listings and your podcast will not appear in the Browse there. Here are the affected categories:
    Arts:
    Literature
    Performing Arts
Design has 900, soon to be filled.
    Business:
    Business News
    Investing
    Management & Marketing
Careers has 977, soon to be filled.
    Comedy
    Education:
    Higher Education
    Training
    Games & Hobbies:
    Video Games
    Health:
    Fitness
    Self-Help
Kids & Family (has 996, very soon to be filled)
    Music
    News & Politics
    Religion & Spirituality:
    Christianity
    Spirituality
    Society & Culture:
    Personal Journals
    Places & Travel
    Sports & Recreation:
    Professional
Outdoor (has 919, soon to be filled)
This is a serious problem. Certainly all podcasts can be found by power search. But the point of Browse categories is to allow people to discover new things, to allow them to explore all the wonderful podcasts being offered.
I am NOT an Apple basher. People who know me, know that. I founded and ran all of the Apple-related and Macintosh areas on CompuServe (the MAUG Forums) for almost 20 years. I was the founding Editor-in-Chief of MACUSER Magazine and ran that publication for some years. I love Apple, absolutely.
But I do not understand why they have not addressed this problem with the Browse categories in the iTunes store as to how iTunes displays them. I trust they will but I hope it will be sooner rather than later.

  • ITunes not listed in default player list.

Running iTunes from an external, suddenly about 10% of my music is missing. iTunes also notified me that it wasn't the default music player. When I try to change the association, iTunes is not listed in my default player list, even when I point it to the external. I've had issues with WMP hijacking my music files in the past, but never to the point that I couldn't find them and reset the default. I'm baffled, any help out there? Thanks in advance if you have a clue.

  • Podcast Artwork in iTunes Not Showing Up

Has this happened to anyone else? I have a Mac and when I try and download a few different podcasts the Artwork does not show up. I can deleteand redownload all I want, it does not show up. I've had this with a few Podcasts. When I sync it to my iPhone or iPod, still it doesn't show up.

The artwork which sometimes appears for individual episodes has to be actually embedded in the media file and is not related to the image which appears on the Store page (which is referenced in the feed). Many podcasters don't bother to include these embedded images, or may not realise that they can, in which case no image will appear.
There is nothing to stop you copying the artwork from the Store page and adding it to each episode using the File>Get Into pane, if you really want to take the trouble.

  • Organize iTunes file list by Directory Structure instead of artist/album?

Hello, I have searched for different audio players for os x which might have this feature but so far have had no luck. What I'm looking for is a feature similar to that of foobar2000 for win32 where I can organize my music by directory structure without the iTunes automatic organization by artist/album. Is there a way I can accomplish this in iTunes with some sort of xml config or hidden options? Thanks.

You don't have to have iTunes move music around on your hard drive (Preferences>Advanced>General, uncheck Keep iTunes Music folder organized and Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library) but I suspect that's not what you're asking. You can't automatically view music from within iTunes by directory structure. iTunes organizes by ID3 tags ("mp3 tags"). You could, I suppose, spend a lot of time replicating your directory structure by using folders and playlists within iTunes but you'd probably have to do it all by hand.
You could check out Doug's Scripts to see if there are some scripts that might help.

  • How can I add manually-downloaded podcasts into the iTunes Podcase lists?

I see no way to "import" an existing podcast MP3 file into the Podcast screen so it shows up in an existing Podcast list. I need this because I have older podcast episodes which the downloaded subscriptions do not include anymore, but these old episodes really belong in the same podcast list as the newer ones.
This is a glarimg omission that makes the podcast screen inflexible and hard to use - plz help!

  • Is there a way to link from a podcast in the iTunes library list to the podcast in the iTunes store?

There used to be a link button that did exactly that.  It vanished from iTunes 2 or 3 years ago.  At that time, a number of posts asked how to put it back.  None of the posts I've found had a useful response, so I gather there wasn't.
I'm just wondering if things have changed.
Many podcasts now have multiple entries in the iTunes store - often with similar graphics.  There are times when I want to re-download an episode of a subscribed podcast.  The problem isn't getting to the podcast via a search of the iTunes store.  The problem is determining, when a podcast has multiple entries, which version of the podcast has the episode I want.
    Thanks

As far as I know (not very far, btw) new versions of Java are now only distributed from Oracle specifically for OS X. Apple is no longer updating Java beyond the version distributed with the 2014-001 security update. Java SE Runtime Environment 7 1.7.0_67 is the most recent Oracle release. That's pretty much all I know.

  • ITunes not listing all groups in Contacts

I am trying to sync with my contacts in Outlook. I recently added a new group/folder, into which I moved all 'miscellaneous' contacts that weren't already grouped. Now I am trying to sync, and iTunes won't display the new folder. I have rebooted the computer and restarted the iPhone, but still nothing. How do I make iTunes "see" this new folder??

  • Podcast not listed?

I submitted a podcast and it is not listed in iTunes.
I received the following confirmation email:
    Dear Podcast Owner
Your podcast feed, [ http://www.caseserve.com/podcast/angela.xml ] was successfully added and is now under review.
But it is still not showing. Is there anything else I have to do?

The email makes it clear that the podcast was under review at the time and had not yet been approved. A subsequent email is sent indicating acceptance / rejection.

  • I can find my Podcast in the Itunes store but not in the Podcast list.

If I search for my podcast in the Itunes store it shows up. So, I click subscribe, and everything looks like its working. When I check the Podcast section of my library I don't see it. The link to my podcast is http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=358348024. The feed is http://www.rodsotr.com/RODSOTR/Podcast/rss.xml. I'm hoping the issue is just with the itunes on my computer. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Rod

It works perfectly well for me: I can't suggest why it isn't for you. When you click the 'Subscribe' link in the Store page you should see a 'Downloads' item appear in the sidebar below 'Purchased' showing the progress of downloading the top episode, and above all that in the top section of the sidebar under 'Podcasts' you should see the podcast.
If you don't: try going to the 'Advanced' menu, choosing 'Subscribe to podcast' and entering the URL of your feed and see what happens.

  • How do I change the name of a podcast once submitted to itunes??

how do I change the name of a podcast once submitted to itunes??
anyone know? I submitted my first podcast, then changed the name in feedburner. The new name is appearing once you are in the podcast window of my itunes, but not in the itunes store catalog. how do I fix?

Here's what iTunes Podcaster help says:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/store/podcaststechspecs.html
    Troubleshooting Your Feed
iTunes should update your listing at least once every 24 hours. If you made changes more than 24 hours ago that are not yet reflected in your iTunes listing, there is a good chance that your feed has broken. When iTunes encounters a broken feed, it ignores the feed and continues to display the old data.
Here is a set of recommended steps to fix your feed:
Ping your feed to make sure iTunes has attempted to update your feed recently.
Review the technical spec, particularly the example feed, to ensure that every detail of your podcast’s feed is supported by iTunes.
Use a feed validation service like www.feedvalidator.org to check for particular problems. This may be helpful in determining a specific problem with syntax.
If you used a software- or online-based feed creation service, check to ensure your settings there are correct and iTunes-compliant.
Subscribe to the feed in iTunes to see if it works. Open iTunes, go to the Advanced menu, choose "Subscribe to podcast..." and enter your feed’s URL.
Hope this helps - Podcaster's discussion board might have more answers:

  • HT204074 How do you delete a song off your ipad that is not listed on the itunes song list?

Some songs came already loaded with my new ipad air that I hate and want to delete but can't locate the directory where they reside.  I downloaded a file manager app but it only had the option to add new folders, not access the one's already on the ipad.  I signed up for icloud and even bought itunes match at the direction of a blog someone wrote as a way to access the icloud song list and delete the songs.  I deleted the album purchase (that I never made in the first place) listed in the purchase section of iTunes.  The songs are not listed on my PC version of itunes so I can't delete them from there (right click and choose delete).  They are only on the ipad itself.  Why is it so difficult to simply remove a file from your ipad?  Is there a way to delete these songs or am I stuck with them on my ipad music list?  I reset the entire setup thinking it would erase everything on my ipad but that didn't work either.  Please advise.  Thanks.

Does it play on the iPad?
What happens when you swipe it left and fight? You should get a Delete or Remove button. If Remove then there will be a cloud icon by the song after you remove the sound file from the iPod.
If it is U2 album then:
    Remove U2 Album

  • Podcast feed broken in two in "Podcast" view, but complete in "List" view iTunes 11

    Hi all,
Today I updated to iTunes 11 on my Windows 7 laptop. When I went to update some podcasts I subscribe to I noticed that there were two lists for a couple of the different podcasts inthe defaualt view.
I thought perhaps there was something wrong with my .xml feed and spend a long time checking my feed file. Nothing looked odd, and I didn't remember seeing two feeds in prior versions of iTunes.
At this point I clicked on "Lists" at the top. There was only one album for the podcast AND all episodes were listed there, where they should be. Seems like a bug in the new GUI for iTunes 11.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? The podcast I'm subscribed to is: http://www.recastweb.com/podcasts/Weekly.xml http:///www.recastweb.com/podcasts/Luke.xml is experiencing the same odd display too.

I'd like to have this list view back as well.
It was usefull for choosing a podcast based on date and/or length.
I will submit feedback on this and suggest all others who want it back do the same.
