Podcast subscriptions - viewing individual episodes

Hi,
Does anybody know how to get the individual episodes of a podcast subscription to show up within the iTunes application?  I've tried the 'Show all available episodes' options by right-clicking on the individual subscription but nothing happens.  It's frustrating, as I can see the number of episodes that are stored, but not their names or any other details about them.  I can't believe that I'm not able to perform something so basic in this application, so I'm assuming there's something I have overlooked.  Any suggestions, please?

For the record, have you expanded the Podcast subscription by clicking on the triangle next to the Podcast name?

  • Afteri Tunes7 I found my Podcasts and how to delete individual episodes!!!!

So my podcasts disappeared from my music library after installing iTunes7. Also I couldn't see my Ipod library when the ipod was connected.
The key lies in the little grey triangles on the left. Select Podcasts main menu item in your library and then select one of your podcast subscriptions click the grey triangle to reveal all the episodes and then you can delete individual items.
The same goes for when your Ipod is connected. To see what is on it click the triangle to reveal all the sub items.
Hope this helps some of you out there. Happy listening!!

  • Displaying/Listing Individual Episodes of Podcast

Hi -- Is it possible to list/display INDIVIDUAL EPISODES of a Podcast in my iTunes library? THANKS for any help!

I am so excited because I just figured out how to do this! I have iTunes 7.1.0.59 (whatever that means) and Windows Vista, but I think this feature was on my old version as well. Anyway...in the Podcast library, in front of the name of the Podcast you want to view, there should be an arrow. It is not the arrow that takes you back to the store; it is the one in front of the name of the Podcast. If you left-click on it, the episodes should show up individually underneath. I know it seems deceptively easy, but it should work for you. Hope that helps!

  • Can I change my podcast subscription to only put a new episode as visible and in the cloud, but not actually download it?

The person who holds the copyright to it in the UK hasn’t given Apple permission to sell it there; if desired, click here and fill out the form.

  • Descriptions of individual episodes of my podcast NOT showing up in iTunes Store Listing

    Podcast feed: http://talkradiomeltdown.com/podcast.xml
    Feedburner variant feed: http://feeds.feedburner.com/talkradiomeltdown
    Store listing: http://talkradiomeltdown.com/itunes
I have coded my podcast feed entirely by myself, using the template provided here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/specs.html#example
While checking my feed in the iTunes Store recently, I have noticed that after Episode 64, the descriptions for each individual episodes are displayed as "--", and I am not seeing a link to open descriptions of these individual episodes in a new window. This appears to be a recent problem.
I am noticing no difference in XML code between Episode 64 and Episode 65, as the template is unchanged with each update to the feed. However, I have noticed that, when checking my feed through FeedValidator.org, I receive this message:
"Your feed appears to be encoded as "UTF-8", but your server is reporting "US-ASCII"
I have attempted to rectify this issue, but to no avail. I wonder if it is causing this issue to occur. Again, this appears to be recent. Last I checked the Store listing for my podcast (a few weeks ago), I was seeing descriptions for each individual episode.

Don't worry about the Feedvalidator error.
The Store is using the feed at http://talkradiomeltdown.com/podcast.xml - the Feedburner feed doesn't come into it.
Not filling in the 'itunes:subtitle' tag is what's caused the problem. When subscribing, the 'Description' column is presumably populated by the 'description' tag in the absence of the proper one, but the Store is not doing this.
Oddly enough your latest episode does have the 'itunes:subtitle' tag but it's not showing in the Store - did you add it subsequent to posting the episode? - if that's the case the Store will pick it up when you post a new episode.

  • Descriptions of individual episodes of my podcast NOT showing up in iTunes Store Listing AGAIN

I had this issue occur a while back, where the descriptions of invdividual episodes of my podcast would not display in iTunes - instead, a "--" would appear. At the time, the reason for this issue's occurrence was because I did not have a <itunes:subtitle> tag decalred for each individual episode. I have since gone in and added that string, and the descriptions had shown up in iTunes.
Just today, I added a new episode to my feed. The descriptions are all gone again! In their place: "--." Each item, including the most recently added episode, has a <itunes:subtitle> tag, so I am really not sure now what the issue is!

    Roger,
The second feed that you mentioned:
    https://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/talk-radio-meltdown-radioyou/id425903848
    using the feed at
    http://talkradiomeltdown.com/radioyou-podcast.xml
... is irrevelant. It was a separate edition of my podcast that was granted its own special feed. It has not been updated since 2010-2011.
My main concern is my feed at: http://talkradiomeltdown.com/podcast.xml. That is my main feed. The last time I had this issue, you were very helpful in pointing out that I was missing the <itunes:subtitle> tags; I had gone in and added them, and after a couple of days, the feed updated with the subtitles in place.
However, it appears that, since adding a new episode yesterday (our first new episode since early September) the subtitles/descriptions seem to have vanished again.
Hopefully this resolves itself in a couple of days. I will check my feed again, though running the .xml file through FeedValidator.org has brought up no errors in regards to bad formatting.

  • Individual episode artwork to show up for my podcast on itunes?

I have individual artwork for each of my episodes for my podcast, filmception. I can't seem to get itunes to show this artwork for each episode. I read a bit on id3 tags and such, and it's all rather confusing. I've even added the artwork to the files and reuploaded each episode, but no luck. Would adding the artwork in garage band, re-exporting the files, then uploading the files to my libsyn account do the trick. Anybody who can help me with this please tell me the best way to get itunes to recognize my individual episode artwork.
    Ryan

As you haven't posted the URL of your feed it's not possible to check on what exactly you've done.
For artwork to show when subscribing, for individual episodes, it has to be actually embedded in the media files, and it doesn't show until you start playing the episode. It then shows in the small area at the top where the progress bar is, and if you command-click that you get a larger version. (These images do not show in the iTunes Store.)
This page explains the whole process in detail, so see whether it helps you, and if you want to follow up please post the feed URL.

  • I can't view the episode list of my podcast

When I try to view the episode list of my podcast (Murphy's Saloon) to check if current episodes are actually getting listed in iTunes, I can do a search with no problem, and iTunes shows me that the show is there.
But when I click on the show icon, I get an error message "Could not complete the Music Store request. The store may be busy. Check your internet connection, or try again later."
My connection is fine, thankyouverymuch, and I've tried at a wide variety of different times for almost two weeks.
    Now what?
Could this somehow be related to the number of episodes I have available (more than 20)?

I don't know how podcasting via the iTMS is organized (only listen to them), so don't expect an expert opinion from me.
    This is what I experienced:
Search OK. Only 1 episode found. Clicked on the artwork to go to the podcast. Got the message "Could not complete etc."
Well, there's nothing wrong with my Internet connection either.
    Other podcasts work fine.
So, my layman's opinion is that there is something wrong at the iTMS.
Clicked the 'Subscribe' button. All 29 episodes listed. Downloading them was no problem at all (full speed on my DSL; 665 KB/s).
So there's nothing wrong with your Internet connection either.
These are just my findings and layman's opinion.
Can't suggest anything to solve it though.

  • Podcast subscriptions - where are my episodes?

i can't figure out where my podcast subscriptions are going. i have subscribed to one free podcast only.
in itunes, on the left side, i see where it reads Podcasts and next to the word podcasts, it says 102. when i click on Podcasts, only one podcast, the most recent, appears. where are the rest of these podcasts?

For the record, have you expanded the Podcast subscription by clicking on the triangle next to the Podcast name?

  • Podcast subscriptions do not work on otherwise good podcast

I started using BluBrrys powerpress plugin on my wordpress site a few days ago and up untill this point its been fine, but I am having a really strange error that has me vexed
The site I have set up is here: www.fantasticneighborhood.com
The podcast feed I submitted to iTunes is: www.fantasticneighborhood.com/?feed=podcast
The iTunes link is here, this was after it was accepted by apple: http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/fantastic-neighborhood-podcast/id504413438
So here is what's happening. The feed itself works fine in non iTunes platforms and passes validation, also works with the site plug in which plays it in article. If you go to the iTunes link in a browser you can listen to the first episode via the blue play button, and if you access the feed within itunes via the view in iTunes button and hit the download button for the individual episode, you can download the podcast.
However, if you subscribe to the podcast, it will add it to your subscriptions and not find anything, not update. Even from there if I right click and hit "copy podcast url" it gives me a valid url. If I download the podcast via the individual podcast button, it shows up as a feed, but then if you try to update it, it will give you an unknown error message.
Lastly, if I manually add the feed via advanced > subscribe to podcast, it will download the first epsiode and update correctly.
I did make some changes to the feed after submitting in that I fixed the title of the podcast, but I would find it hard to believe that that could be the issue since the feed when manually added works great and it's only when it is taken from itunes. The enclosure name stayed the same as did all other info for the cast.
I have looked at everything I could find and by all means this should work but it does not. I have tried deletingh the subscription and trying to resub to it but no luck.
So has anyone else had this problem prior to this, and is there a solve? I have never worked with iTunes for a podcast before (this is my first) and I am under the impression that iTunes does not offer support to fix broken casts which worries me. Thanks in advance!

    Hi Tom
The first thing that pops into my mind, is the Flash Player
security settings. Usually these only play a role if your buttons
are trying to access a internet address, but sometimes can affect
    local files also.
Go to you Flash Player security settings (online settings)
and add your swf to the Allow list.
    Note.
I don't know how to get to the settings online, it never
interested me. But if you change the link on one of your buttons to
access a internet address like www.google.com, and try to click it
from your local machine, the Flash Player Security screen should
pop up and warn you that a "Unsafe Operation" was stopped, or
something along those lines. If you click on the [Settings] button,
it will take you to the online Flash Player settings.
By the way, the Flash Security window does NOT come up from
Test Movie. You need to open the SWF in Flash Player on your local
    drive.
    Hope this helps. Goos luck

  • Podcast list view in iTunes 11

Not sure if I am missing something here, but I regularly search for podcasts on specific subjects. More likely than not it's individual episodes I want, rather than a podcast series. However, in iTunes 11, when you click on an individual episode after searching it takes you to the whole series. You then have to look through that whole series to find the episode that showed up in your search.
This is really really annoying. In iTunes 10, you could look at all the episodes in a list, and click the ones you wanted to download. Now you have to hop in and out of whole podcast series, find the specific episode you want, then back out and onto the next one. When you're downloading 20 or 30 at a time it's a real pain.
Am I missing something? Is there a way to get the old convenient list view back?

I'd like to have this list view back as well.
It was usefull for choosing a podcast based on date and/or length.
I will submit feedback on this and suggest all others who want it back do the same.

  • Podcast client that downloads episodes during sync

Does anybody know of a podcast client for iPhone 4S and iOS 7 that
will download all the podcast episodes physically to my iPhone?
The default Podcast app seems to download episodes only on demand,
but for me that is a problem because that way it maxes out my data volume that is included with my plan very early.
So I'd like to have a podcast client that basically looks at (wht's now called) "my stations" in iTunes (on the Mac), and downloads
all the episodes that are listed there onto my iPhone, so that I can listen to those episodes while on the go.
I don't need any fancy features, just a client that plays one episode after another,
and that lets me skip from one episode to the next one (even if they are not from the same podcast).
I manage my podcast subscription in iTunes (find that most convenient).
I did search the internet, but got confused. I am not sure, one of the frequent mentions (like Downcast or Pocket Casts)
    can do what I want.
I'll appreciate any hint for a podcast client.
    Best regards,
    Gabriel.

Is there a setting on the video-iPod that is not set right?
You may have set your iPod to sync only unwatched videos etc.
Connect your iPod, then when the summary screen appears click on the videos tab.
Change the preference to what suits you best.

  • Why does iTunes 11.1 have to break Podcast List view?

iTunes 11.1 has ruined podcast List view on my Mac.  It was the only view that made efficient use of screen space. Now that is gone, with a clutter of lists of old episodes that I have listened to and deleted, often years ago.  I want the ability to NOT SHOW OLD EPISODES.  The settings and default options do not work to delete old episodes, which hover in 'the cloud' in my lists.
So instead of a few unheard episodes, I have sometimes hundreds of old episodes for the program.  Simply reordering the list so that recent programs appear at the top for each program is not good enough.  I don't need to see program titles I have already heard and discarded ('deleted' prior to 11.1).
This is not a cloud, it is FOG!!
    I can't believe this stuff.

  • HT6546 How do you get podcast subscriptions to download on my iMac?

I had several podcast subscriptions automatically downloading daily to iTunes on my iMac. When I installed Maverick they stopped and I can't find a way to get them started again. I looked for help on the iTunes site and all it talks about is in connection with a device and nothing about my computer. It tells me to click on things that do not exist and is totally worthless. I tried to resubscribe in the normal manner and it doesn't work beyond downloading a single episode while I wait. it only downloads at the speed of listening to it. How do I get these podcasts started again?

The very first thing you should have done when you got the new External was to change to Mac compatible to Extended and Journaled then all will be well again. Get out the paperwork that came with the Drive and read it.

  • Podcast List view not updated with iTunes 11.3.1.2

Podcast List view not updated with iTunes 11.3.1.2
    Windows 7 Enterprise Service Pack 1 / Intel-i7 2.40 GHz / 8GB RAM / 64-bit
    iTunes 11.3.1.2
After refreshing my Podcast list, some Podcasts with new episodes do not display the "Unplayed" blue dot.
If the podcast "folder" is expanded by clicking the triangle, the new episodes are shown with a "Unplayed" blue dot.
A new episode is shown in the My Podcast view, with the correct number of new episodes.
The new episodes are displayed in the All Unplayed view.
I've tried deleting all episodes and downloading new episodes from the iTunes Store.
I've tried Unsubscribing and deleting the podcast, then Subscribing again from the iTunes Store.
    Neither attempt resolved the issue.
I've seen this issue for a while, and was disappointed to find no change with the iTunes 11.3.1.2 update.

it finally worked; got my Rush 24/7 downloaded, and it finally found my iPhone after switching from the USB 4 port Hub to a dedicated USB 2.0 slot on my laptop.
