Podcast syncing via iCloud: Mark episodes as watched

I use iCloud to sync my podcast subscriptions across multiple devices (Macs, iPhone, Apple TV), and generally, it works: All my feeds and stations appear on all the devices. What doesn't seem to work is the synchronisation of the watched/unwatched status: No matter on which device I watch an episode, it never gets marked as watched on any other device. It doesn't matter whether I acually play an episode to the end, or just mark it as played by option-clicking the item and selecting Mark as Watched.
I'd like to know whether everybody has the same problem, and you have found workarounds.

Similar problems on my 2010 Core i7 MBP running 10.6.4 and iTunes 10.0.1:
[1] Podcasts if played on the computer will not sync correctly with iPhone4 running iOS 4.1; the podcast on the iPhone will ALWAYS overwrite the podcast on the computer (i.e., if podcast played on computer, but still unplayed on iPhone, podcast will show as unplayed on computer after sync).
[2] Podcasts if played on the iPhone will sync correctly with the Mac (i.e., if podcast partially played or completely played on iPhone, podcast will show as partially played or completely played, at the correct stopping point, on computer after sync).
[3] Songs on the iPhone when playing will sometimes begin in the middle of the song - as though if they were a podcast picking up where I left off.
Best suggestion - please send a comment to Apple!!! Use the "Submit Feedback" link in iTunes or _http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html_
The only way this issue will get addressed is if Apple gets enough user feedback indicating that this is an issue. (Apple is known to be very responsive to customer issues - but it's on us to let them know this is a problem.)
thanks!

Replying to my own post - heh. I downloaded iExplorer (http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/) which allowed me access to the files on the phone and there was the phantom movie in the DCIM folder. Deleted it, and all is well - although I still have 0.65gb of Other in iTunes.....

Calendars, emails, contacts, are fine since files are small.  What I'm afraid of are the apps and photos.
    Any reply will be appreciated.
    Thanks.

With the exception of photo stream, iCloud doesn't sync your apps or photos between devices. You will continue to sync this content via iTunes in the same way as you do now.
Photo stream allows you to sync your most recent photos between all devices, you have the option to use photostream or not.

  • Apps no longer syncing via iCloud

I run a time-keeping app (Tyme) on my iMac and Macbook, and have always been able to keep the app data synchronised between both devices through iCloud.  All of a sudden yesterday the sync stopped working (it now just hangs on the Macbook).  The Tyme folder does not appear in iCloud Drive on the web either (even though on both devices I have the app ticked under iCloud Drive settings).  The only thing I can think of that might have changed is that I restarted my iMac a couple of days ago, which will have installed any operating system updates that were pending.
    Can anyone help?

You shouldn't be syncing using both iCloud and iTunes, check your settings you may not be syncing via iCloud (system preferences > iCloud on the mac and settings > iCloud on the phone)

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
If you can't do this on a computer, which would be much easier using drag and drop, then you will need to share the contacts with yourself in order to move them to the iCloud account.

  • Macbook pro calendar not syncing (via iCloud) with iPhone 4s

After looking through a few discussions I see some users having issues in syncing their calendars (from their computer) on to their iphone.
I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion and this seems to be the key issue.
I was showed from an Apple genius that when syncing via icloud (and to avoid duplicate calendar entries) is to uncheck sync, contacts and calendars.
Which I have and I do have icloud "ON" in my phone. But whenever I update my calendar entries on my Apple laptop it no longer syncs to the iphone.
Would anyone have any leads as to why it's no longer syncing? I'm pretty good at troubleshooting but I'm at a loss with this one.
    thanks in advance    Aimee

I'm not sure where your problems lies, see if the supported document helps below:
iCloud: Manually importing data from Calendar or iCal to iCloud Calendar
    iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Calendar
iCloud: Limits for Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, and Bookmarks
iCloud: Calendar Events, Reminders, To Dos, and Tasks behavior differs by application

  • Events sync via iCloud from iPhone to iPad but not vice versa.

I just purchased an iPad 3 and have an iPhone 4s.  In calendar, I can enter a date event on my phone and it will sync to the calendar on my iPad, however, if I enter a date event in calendar on iPad, it does not sync via iCloud to my iPhone.  I have checked and made sure all of my stuff in settings is syncing via the cloud.  Just cannot figure this out. I also made sure that the cloud is linked to same account only on both devices. Any help is appreciated.

I assume you are syncing cal's through iTunes. While I am not sure how to solve your problem, I'd recommend using Google Exchange to sync your contacts. It works in real time and uses your gmail credentials to do so.

  • My calendar items are not syncing via iCloud.

My calendar items are no longer syncing from my iPhone to my iMac via iCloud.  In Settings - iCloud, my iPhone says that Calendars are syncing.  iTunes on my iMac says the same thing.  On my iMac, iCloud settings won't let me check Calendars, though.  My iPad and iPhone are syncing just fine.

but I've restarted my iPhone just the other day (for a different reason) and it didn't affect the iCloud calendar... don't know why it did today,
Because "resetting" like I suggested is not the same as "restarting".
You wouldn't know how to get iCal to update on a iMac that doesn't have Lion installed, would you?
Unfortunately, you need a Mac running Lion v10.7.2
    You're welcome

  • Even by sync via iCloud, it doesn't sync my calendar on my computer ... why ?

even sync my iphone via iCloud, it doesn't sync my calendar on my computer ... why ? It's a bull s... that apple take off the menu info on itunes

Apple removed sync in Mavericks with iTunes.
You can no longer sync with an iPhone or iPad via iTunes. You can only sync with an iPhone or iPad via a cloud-based service like iCloud or Google.
You can no longer sync local calendars with OS X Calendar (formerly iCal). You can, however, continue to sync calendars hosted on a cloud-based service like iCloud or Google with Apple's Calendar.
You can no longer sync with any third-party apps running on your Mac that use Sync Services, like Entourage or Outlook.

  • Podcast syncing via WiFi and EDGE

It sure would be nice if the iPhone could update podcast feeds via WiFi and EDGE. This would be great for more time-sensitive podcasts such as news podcasts and/or those updated on a daily basis.

While it is theoretically possible to podcast over wifi, edge is not a timing sensitive protocol. The data gets there when it gets there and that is it. Even if edge had enough bandwidth to run the podcast (which it generally doesn't) it wouldn't be a pleasent experience.

  • IWork for iOS not syncing via iCloud

Our new iMac came with the “free” iWork for OSX apps, so I decided to give iCloud syncing between OSX and IOS devices another try.
I went to iCloud.com and created a simple document in Pages, Numbers and Keynote. I then checked to see if these three documents “showed up” on our iMac, MBP, iPhone 5s and iPad mini. Syncing the three iWork documents worked fine on the iMac and MBP. But the syncing results to iWork iOS apps on our iPhone and iPad were pretty abysmal. In both cases only ONE (out of three) of the iWork apps synced: Keynote on the iPad and Pages on the iPhone.
Since at least one of the documents synced correctly on each of the iOS devices, I obviously have the right iCloud account info., etc. And I assure you that all three apps had/have their little green switches/sliders set to “on" in the Settings>iCloud>Documents and Data. Two days should be enough time to sync even on a slow internet connection. Syncing iWork for IOS documents was working before I turned off iCloud>Documents and Data syncing several months ago because I didn’t have iWork for OSX at the time and had no need to sync iWork documents between the iPhone and iPad.
So what gives? Interestingly the two iWork for iOS apps that synced correctly, were the only apps that asked to use iCloud when they launched. And these were the only two apps that had not been launched since their last update. Could it be that iWork for IOS apps don’t pay attention to changes in the iCloud Documents and Data sync settings if syncing has been previously turned off?

Numbers and Pages are not syncing with iCloud on my iPhone or iPad, except for one occurrence in five days. Changed documents sit there with an arrow icon.
Hardware is iPhone 5S running iOS 7.1.2 and iPad Air running 7.1.2
Latest update of Numbers and Pages. I deleted and reinstalled Numbers on the iPad without any change however this did seem to bring the esisting documents down to the device from iCloud.
I have an internet connection. I have tried turning 4G on and off, setting up a hotspot on either device so that the other has a wireless connection but this has not fixed the problem.
I have tried restarting both devices.
i have tried turning Use iCloud off but this only worked once.
Data roaming is on and cellular data is on on both devices.
Settings/iCloud/Documents & Data/Numbers is turned on and Settings/iCloud/Documents & Data/Pages is turned on on both devices.
Settings/Numbers/Use iCloud is on and Settings/Pages/Use iCloud is on on both devices.
Looking at Settings/iCloud/Manage Storage/Numbers shows there are documents.
i am currently travelling, hence the 3G/4G. At home, on my wireless network (based on an ADSL connection) it will often sync sporadically enough that it is not much of an issue, just an irritation. However this total lack of syncing over the past five days is getting to be pretty unamusing.

  • IPhone 4 OS 6.0 Sync via iCloud to Computer - Calendar Missing All Calendars Except Repeating Appointments

I have an iPhone 4, ios 6.0 with years of calendars & contacts on it.
Just bought a new macbook pro, OS 10.8.3.
Set up iPhone 4 to sync all calendars and contacts via one icloud account, successfully.
All 8 Calendars all successfully sunk from iPhone 4 into new computer.
Set up iTunes 11.0.2 to sync with my iPhone 4 via cable. Did the sync, all music & playlists from iTunes 11 got onto my iPhone 4.
Now my macbook pro's calendars & contacts are all present and fine, but the iPhone only displays calendar items which are my repeating appointments (my exercize calendar).
Yet, in my iPhone 4, all calendars are checked off to show. (please see pic), but they don't show.
Any advice on how to get all my calendars to show on my iPhone like they do on my macbook pro? It appears the macbook calendar has kept ALL my appointments, and the iPhone 4 has only kept and displayed my weekly repeating exercize appointments.

Turned out - after about 30minutes at the genius bar, the guy figured it out.
Within the iphone itself, in the General > Calendar preferences, it said 'sync only last 2 months' or something like that. So even though the iphone had all calendars selected to show, it deceptively didn't show any of my previous non-repeating appointments, only the repeating ones.
This explains why iCloud had all my information + repeating appointments, yet the iPhone only had 2 months of appointments + my forever going back repeating appointments.
iPhone calendar software a little odd to not have 'sync all calendar items' checked off as a default, instead it has 'sync only last 2 months' checked off as a default.

  • Address book not syncing via iCloud ....

    Hey All,
So i've read some other posts saying to make a backup, and then remove it via sys preference, uncheck contacts, delete them, and then re-check the box, that hasnt worked
here is my current setup that I use everyday
    iMac 1 - Home
    iMac 2 - Office
    iPhone
My phone and iMac 1 have the same sync, I created 2 more "categories" on iMac2 and added a bunch of contacts to that group (all 3 devices are using the same username / password) - however, iMac1 and iphone do not get these new contacts / groups, no matter what
    any suggestions?

FYI, iCloud DOES NOT SYNC, you subscribe to it and that makes it very different from sync systems (including Mobile Me)
I just moved, yesterday, from MobileMe to iCloud.  I have an iMac, a MacBook Air, an iPhone 4, and the original iPad.
Would you be kind enough to elaborate on your statement that I have quoted, above?  I fear I don't understand the difference between sycning to MobileMe and subscribing to iCloud.
I am about to make my first change to my Address book and am unsure where to make it:  on iCloud, my iMac, my MacBook, etc.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Bob

  • Computer not available to sync via icloud

OK, working with an iPhone 4 which I successfully upgraded to IOS5
Turned on Wi-Fi/iCloud syncing and made sure to turn on options to sync calendar, notes, mail, etc
When I open settings/General/iTunes Wi-Fi Sync on iPhone 4 I find that the Sync Now button is grayed out and the phone says "Sync will resume when <network name of my computer> is available"
The thing is, that computer is on, iTunes is open, the computer is connected via LAN to the network which has wireless router, and WiFi is working.
So why is the phone saying my computer is not available? What am I not doing?

    ralff,
I think the power-connector plug-in is only when you want to do a backup. Or, plugging into power automatically syncs and does backup. However, there is a sync button under Settings/Genera/iTunes Wi-Fi Sync that you can use even when it is not connected to power. I just now did it and it worked - however, I'm still finding that it treats the computer as being unavailable at times for no obvious reason. I just now saw it go from available to unavailable and back to available again, even though I did nothing different with the computer. This is the gist of my question - what exactly makes the computer "unavailable" when it is clearly turned on and connected to the LAN?
