Podcast-Using Screen Shot

I am making, trying to make, several short podcast tutorials using GB. They will all be how to set up/use diffent computer/web applications. I need to use screenshots with voice overs. The one that I made, using the "capture" utility (ultilities>capture) are fuzzy and not the right size in GB. What can do I solve this problem? Any help would be great!

Use these shortcuts to take pictures of the screen in Mac OS X.
Action - Take a picture of the whole screen:
Shortcut - ⌘-Shift-3
Take a picture of part of the screen:
⌘-Shift-4, then drag to select the area you want in the picture.
To cancel, press Escape.
Take a picture of a window, a menu, the menu bar, or the Dock:
Press ⌘-Shift-4, then press the Space bar. Move the pointer over the area you want so that it's highlighted, then click.
To drag to select the area instead, press the Space bar again. To cancel, press Escape.
Screen shots are saved as files on the desktop. If you want to put the screen shot in the Clipboard, rather than create a file, hold down the Control key when you press the other keys. You can then paste the picture into a document.
You can also take pictures of the screen using the Grab application (in the Utilities folder).

Where does my screen shot go with 10.6 (it use to go to desk top, but now I can't find them)

Before I upgraded to 10.6, if I took a screen shot (either command, control, shift 3 or 4) the image was placed on the desktop.
Now I don't know where it goes..
What was so simple and straightforward is now multi step. I use computers as a tool I am not a 'geek' and don't understand all the lingo.

Taking a screen shot with command - control - shift 3 or 4 will put the screenshot onto the clipboard. To save the screen shot to the desktop do command - shift 3 or 4. (no control key)

Are you trying to apply a gradient background?

To help community members troubleshoot issues efficiently, sometimes we need to collect related files (such as Event logs, Network traces, Setup
log files, Screenshots, etc.) to perform a specific analysis.
We can simply use SkyDrive, which is a free storage on Windows Live, it’s easy to store and share your files and photos with almost anyone. To make the
steps clear, I would like to share the detailed steps for:
1. How to use SkyDrive to upload collected files?
2. How to post screenshots or other pictures in forum threads?

How to use
SkyDrive to upload collected files?
1)
Open the
SkyDrive site.
2)
In the
Sign In page, if you own a Windows Live ID, please type your Windows Live ID and Password to sign in; Otherwise, you may click Sign Up to register a new one. See the following screen shot.

After signing in Windows Live, click Create folder.
4)     Name
the folder and edit permissions to share with relevant person.
Important Note: You
can share the folder with Everyone if there is no private/sensitive information (such as the screen shot of a prompt error message). To so so, simply select the "Everyone (Public)" option in the "Share with" box. Please refer to the following screen shot:
However, for private information that you do NOT want to be accessed by everyone, it is recommended to share with specified individuals. To do so, you can expand the "Share with" box, choose the "Select people..." option, and then type their
Live IDs in the Individual box. Please refer to the screen shot below:

Drag the previously collected files directly to the Skydrive folder. For example:

Click Upload.

Click on the uploaded files and tell us the URL.

use the above method to upload the picture files in advance. Then, in your Skydrive space, Right Click the picture and select
View Original. Press Ctrl + A, or Right Click and select Copy, to select it.

Press Ctrl + C to copy this picture.
3)
Navigate to your post textbox, and press Ctrl + V, or Right Click and select Paste, to paste the picture there.
Then, the picture will be successfully inserted in that thread.

I cant even open windows now!!!! it crashes mecilessly here is a copy of the only dump file i have. i retreved it from second life and cant copy it onto the clip board.

Using grab or anything else to copy and paste screen shots into MAIL

Using Grab to copy a screen shot into Mail-
All i get is a smaller picture of the screen shot and it can not be read in mail as it looses all definition and is too small .
is there a way one can copy and paste into mail using grab or any other utility?

You can do this using the standard screen capture keyboard shortcuts. cmd-shift-4, for example, let's you select a region of the screen to capture. By default, the results will be saved to your desktop as a png image file.
However, if you also hold down the ctrl key (so, ctrl-cmd-shift-4), the resulting screen capture will be saved to your clipboard. Once in the clipboard, you can simply cmd-v paste it into your mail message...

How need to take screen shot of the screen using java.awt.Robot from javafx

1) I am displaying a Stage which is having an image and shapes in it and wanted to take the screen shot as and when i move the shape( which moves the stage ).
I am trying to java.awt.Robot, but i am getting headless exception. I used

2) The second issues is have a image & i am dividing the image into different rows and cols( images of same size ). This is i am doing using awt. and i wanted to load those different images into

Command-Shift-3 and 4 works just fine on several Macs that I have here.
Try restarting your Mac....or post in the specific support area for your Mac model....for more advice.

Client is complaining the text in the screen shots is looking
very digitized
and I don't necessarily disagree, but it is a 'screen shot'.

Plea for Light UI to be used when posting Screen Shots

I would like to put in a request:
I find it almost impossible to read the settings which were used when people post either Screen Shots or Demo Movies which were made with the dark UI
It would be great if people could switch to a Light mode before making explanatory Screen Shots (Cmd/Ctrl + F2 cycles through the GUI modes instantly and painlessly!)
And, if you are planning on publishing a book, do realise that once these dark screen shots have been rasterized, downsized and reproduced in Print, they become totally illegible!!!

My feeling is that if you publish an instructional text book; or charge for on-line Tutorials; your paying customers should expect to be able to see your illustrations and read the contents of the panels on their screen so that they can follow the tutorials.
The dark backgrounds make this well-nigh impossible so an investment in the purchase of the books and tutorials becomes pointless!
Never mind whether the dark screen is Adobe's "Default", and it may look fine on the originating computer, but by the time that a Tutorial has been videoed, edited, posted and downloaded to the Customer, the text is illegible and the cursor is invisible.
In a printed book, the dark screen shots with reversed-out rasterized text become totally illegible once they have been down-sized, separated, screened and printed on an offset Press — so the book is worthless.
I am suggesting that the authors of these teaching materials need to be made aware of these issues and, out of courtesy to their Readers and Customers, should prepare therir material with these factors in mind.

Can't find my screen shots that use to show up on the desktop

Since installing the new update of 10.4.4 when I take a screen shot with either the apple+ shift+ 3 or +4 the camera shutter sounds but the file is not to be found ? any help ?

Hey Guys,
I was having the same problem and even though none of you mention having used a utility like Tinker Tools or Onyx to modify the screenshot file type, that's exactly what was causing the problem for me.
I'd used Tinker Tools to change the screenshot to a .psd - resetting everything back to the default settings (in Tinker Tool) and then logging out and back in again repaired the problem... in so much as the screen shots work again (the are .pngs again) and appear on the desktop as they should.
If you've used TT or Onyx (or some other method) to change your screen shot file format you may want to enable invisible items in the finder and delete all the 'misfires' that have been created there - I found quite a few invisible (broken) screen shots on my desktop with names like: .Picture 1.psd-shytk and .Picture 1.psd-hdfl (all with random junk at the end of the file name).
Hope this helps out.
