Podcast Video Freezes - Audio Still Plays

When using the iPod function on my iPhone and watching a synced video podcasts, the video will show the first frame of the podcast and freeze but the audio will continue to play.
The iPhone doesn't freeze up at all other than the video portion of the podcast.
Has anyone else had problems with this? Is there a fix so the video will show also?

Doh, nm found the answer here:

  • Youtube videos freeze, audio keeps playing. As long as I keep moving my cursor, it play ok. What's wrong?

    This seems to happen on all Youtube video's I play. I don't know about other videos because I seldom view any others. When the video freeze happens the download bar is always ahead of the play bar so I don't think download is the problem. However, when the freeze happens, the download bar stops moving. When the play bar catches up to the download bar, the audio stops also. If I move my cursor, the video and audio start playing again. As long as I keep my cursor moving, the video plays fine. I am using Firefox 18.0.1. Computer is an HP dv6-1350us with dual processors. OS is Windows 7. I also use Chrome at times and the freeze doesn't happen on Chrome.

    hello vearlbible, maybe it's an issue with the protected mode in the flash plugin - please go trough the troubleshooting steps provided in the following help document by adobe: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1018071
    or as an alternative you could try [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/flash-113-crashes#w_solution-2-downgrade-to-flash-10-3 downgrading to flash 10.3] (which is still supported) & see if this solves the issue.

  • Video freezes, audio keeps playing always on main monitor

    I just installed FCS2 on my 1.5GHz powerbook G4, everything works perfectly fine until I try to play any video files in the viewer or the canvas. The picture freezes as soon as I hit play on whatever frame its on, the audio keeps playing fine. Everything seems to be running smooth and fast except I can not get any files to play!!! I just upgraded my ram to 1.25 gb and im running mac osx 10.4.11. Ive tried reinstalling, trashing preferences and cache, messing around with every setting I could think of...PLEASE HELP!!!

    What format is your video?
    Are the appropriate Easy Setup and Sequence Settings selected?
    Where is the source material located?

  • After reducing audio in all clips, audio still plays?

    When making music videos, I reduce the volume to 0% in all the clips. This worked for a while, but after making multiple music videos, the audio still played AFTER I reduced it to 0%.

    That's a real shame, kinda renders the software useless if you cannot match video to music timing.. I just edited my first movie with imovie9 and the amount of bugs i found was astonishing. I feel i'm only doing simple things with it.
    Very disappointing..

    I am importing a video and in iMovie the video is now white. the audio still plays and I can play the video properly outside of iMovie so any help is good?

    I going to recommend again, downloading and installing some video helper applications.
    1. http://perian.org/ (this will add a number of different file types to the ones QuickTime already plays)
    2. http://www.divx.com/en/software/mac (will add more file types to what QuickTime can play)
    Either one of these might be necessary to get MPEG Streamclip to export the video. Failing that the only other thing I have found is an obscurve discussion thread on Avid.com:
    http://duc.avid.com/archive/index.php/t-277791.html
    I've figured out what the problem is on my end. The video came from Avid on a Windows machine and was encoded with Squeeze. I found out that the 2 seconds of black at the top of the video were at a different frame rate than the rest of the video. I chopped off the 2 seconds of black and started at the first frame of video, exported it with Quicktime Pro and was able successfully view the video in ProTools. Apparently Squeeze will let you create a movie file that has different frame rates within the same movie... This fixed my issue that was exactly as you describe, hopefully it might work for you.
    Lastly, you could try converting the video clip using HandBrake

  • RemoveChild() but audio still plays

    Hy!
    I have a flash website where different pages are movieclips which are added or removed from the main stage, depending on which buttons are clicked.
    The problem is that I have a 'video' page where a YouTube player is embedded. The video plays as soon as the movieclip loads, but when I remove the child from the stage and I add another movieclip on top of it, the audio still plays.
    I have tried using the SounMixer.stopAll() but it works only when I test swf in Flash. When I open the swf separately from the folder it is in, it doesn't work anymore.
    Can somebody please help me?
    Thanks a lot!

    It is not a FLVPlayback control, it is a YouTube ActionScript 3.0 Player API.
    Here is the code :
    // The player SWF file on www.youtube.com needs to communicate with your host
    // SWF file. Your code must call Security.allowDomain() to allow this

    Security.allowDomain("www.youtube.com");
    // This will hold the API player instance once it is initialized.
    var player:Object;
    var loader:Loader = new Loader();
    loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.INIT, onLoaderInit);
    loader.load(new URLRequest("http://www.youtube.com/apiplayer?version=3")); //load the embedded player

    video3_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,playVid3);
    mute_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,muteVideo);
    unmute_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,unmuteVideo);
    function onLoaderInit(event:Event):void {
        addChild(loader);
        loader.content.addEventListener("onReady", onPlayerReady);
        loader.content.addEventListener("onError", onPlayerError);
        loader.content.addEventListener("onStateChange", onPlayerStateChange);
        loader.content.addEventListener("onPlaybackQualityChange", onVideoPlaybackQualityChange);
    function onPlayerReady(event:Event):void {
        // Event.data contains the event parameter, which is the Player API ID
      trace("player ready:", Object(event).data);
      player = loader.content;
              player.loadVideoByUrl("http://www.youtube.com/v/v6oJ5rw9mys",0);
        // Set appropriate player dimensions an its position
      player.setSize(480, 360);
              player.x=50;
              player.y=220;
              video_title.text="Multiplying Sevens-Times Table";
    function onPlayerError(event:Event):void {
        // Event.data contains the event parameter, which is the error code
        trace("player error:", Object(event).data);
    function onPlayerStateChange(event:Event):void {
        // Event.data contains the event parameter, which is the new player state

    function onVideoPlaybackQualityChange(event:Event):void {
        // Event.data contains the event parameter, which is the new video quality
        trace("video quality:", Object(event).data);
    I have taken this code from its YouTube ActionScript 3.0 Player API Reference

  • PPro14CC - Playback freeze, audio keeps playing (OS X, iMac)

    I think this is might be a similar issue to what others are experiencing, but the symptoms are unique so I'm hoping someone has found a possible solution by now?
    One of our editors has been working on a large project (10 HD promo spots, at least 100GB of raw footage from Canon C300) and experiencing at least 4 crashes per day. And by "crash" I mean that CC14 stops playback -- the Program monitor freezes -- while the audio keeps playing. In some cases he can switch out to the Finder and then back to CC14 to stop the playback, and while he is able to hit "Save" and "Quit" the Program monitor never unfreezes. Some times though he gets the Beachball of Death and has to force quit everything, and curiously the timeline audio still plays out of the speakers after CC14 has quit and the machine is waiting to restart. On at least one occasion he got a major error and PPro created a new project file after closing down. VERY frustrating.
    From what he's told me (I haven't been working alongside him that closely), the freeze ONLY happens when the playhead hits a clip that has filters or effects applied. Right now he's mostly doing a picture-in-picture effect with a beveled edge filter applied to the smaller window, and 3-way color correction on other clips.
    For troubleshooting I focused on the graphics card first. The iMac has a Geforce 780 and was originally running with OpenCL so I downloaded the latest CUDA driver and switched to that but it made no difference. Turning OFF the hardware acceleration just made everything sluggish. I also repaired permissions on the drive. I'm hesitant to do anything too major while he's still working so please let me know if trashing prefs and/or reinstalling will wreck anything in the project or if you would recommend importing everything into a new one.
    Brand new 27" iMac (non-Retina), 32GB ram, latest Yosemite (10.10) and CC14 versions, no plugins installed, no fancy system extensions or antivirus software. OWC Thunderbay RAID, M-Audio speakers, 2nd monitor is 42" Plasma TV via mini-Displayport-to-HMDI adapter in 2nd Thunderbolt port.
    TIA, JVK

    UPDATE:
    We switched the Sequence Settings Preview to Quicktime>ProRes from I-frame MPEG, and it seems to be running better. Will update again if it fails to produce consistent results. Hope this helps somebody else!

  • I removeChild but audio still plays

    I have as3 script that loads an external swf which contains flv video:
    var eventInitialLoader:Loader = new Loader();
    var eventInitialURL:String = parent['eventPath'+ie];
    var eventInitialRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest(eventInitialURL);
    eventInitialLoader.load(eventInitialRequest);
    eventOdd.addChild(eventInitialLoader);
    ...And some script later on that removes it:
    eventOdd.removeChild(eventInitialLoader);
    The movie clip is removed but the audio continues to play. Why is this? What can I do to make sure the audio is removed also?
    Thank You!

    Hey BrianatArean I have the same problem . Were you using the Video class? I user this code to kill everything but the audio still plays:
    public function stopIt()
                video.clear();
                ns.close();
            public function killIt()
                 trace("VideoHandler.killIt() called");
                 stopIt();
                 _stage.removeChild(video);
                 nc.removeEventListener (NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS,checkConnect);
                 ns.removeEventListener(AsyncErrorEvent.ASYNC_ERROR, asyncErrorHandler);
                 nc.close();
                 video = null;
                 ns = null;
                 nc = null;

  • Extracted audio still plays.

    Hi Everyone,
    I extracted the audio from a very short video clip. I want the clip to run in slow motion. My problem is that I don't hear any sound when I play the clip normally, but when I try to add the slow motion effect, the audio comes back. Any solutions?
    Thanks, Jennifer

    Sometimes (..always?..) when you try out an effect in the little Preview window, after the audio's been extracted, the audio still plays.
    However, that's just a feature (bug?) of the effect preview.
    My experience is that if you actually Apply the effect, when you've tested it - so that the timing is correct for what you want - the audio, in the real clip, does stay muted, etc.
    I've had muted ('extracted') audio still playing - in that teeny Preview window - when I try to slow down or reverse a clip. Nevertheless, when I've Applied the effect, everything's as it should be.
    I think that the Preview facility relies on a separate little QuickTime player, and that doesn't necessarily pick up all the alterations you've made to your project until after the effect has been Applied. (..The effect and transition Preview generally tries to play from a memory cache, so it plays back a clip from within the computer's memory, instead of reading from the list of recent alterations to the project, such as audio muting..)

  • Flash player starts playing video but stops, audio still plays

    When I watch videos on youtube the video and audio play fine for the first few seconds. Then all of a sudden the video stops playing, but  the audio continues to play. I am using Firefox 3.0.10, Windows XP SP3, Intel Celeron Processor 434MHz, 256MB of Ram. This also happend with other browsers like Google Chrome, and Internet Explorer. What can I do to correct this issue? Thanks in advance.

    First, disable Java. It's a security risk and has nothing to do with the problem.
    If you're using Safari, from the menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
    Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
    If you wish, you may be able to salvage the malfunctioning extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. That will revert its settings to the defaults.
    If there's no change, from the Safari menu bar, select
    Help ▹ Installed Plug-ins
    Besides the following, what plugins are listed?
    iPhotoPhotocast
    Java

  • Apple TV gen 3 video freezes, audio stops

    I have two Apple TV gen 3 units in my home, both are running the latest version of the firmware.  I have a collection of movies in iTunes on my PC that are all HD in supported formats both video and audio.  My problem is that almost every time now when I'm watching a movie from the Apple TV, after a while the video will start to skip and get jerky, the audio often stops working completely even if the video is still playing.  Most of the time the remote for the Apple TV also has no effect on the unit, I can hit pause or back and nothing happens.  The unit won't respond and just keeps going.  Normally I have to pull the power cord and let it reboot before I can continue watching the movie.  That usually helps for a while, but almost guaranteed I'll have to do that again at least once or twice more before the movie is over.
    This only started happening after the most recent firmware update, and only in the last few months of usage.  It also only happens if I'm playing HD movies out of my home iTunes library.  Netflix and other videos sources like YouTube are not affected and seem to work perfectly fine.  I'm not sure why its only my movie collection causing this issue.  As I said, all of my movies used to play just fine on the same Apple TV, its only recently that these issues have come up.
    I even tried swapping out the Apple TV with a second one in my kids play room.  It has the same problems, but one isn't quite as bad as the other.  So I'm wondering if this is something other people have noticed as well, could it be a firmware issue, some kind of glitch in the OS?  Or has something else changed?
    I don't think it has anything to do with my home network, its all wired gigabit ethernet (NO WIFI), buffering is fast and works fine, the jerky video and audio issues occur even if the play bar shows there is buffered video ahead.  I really don't understand what the problem is and its driving me nuts.  Any tips, ideas or suggestions?  I was hoping Apple would release a new version of Apple TV soon so I can just replace these with a more powerful unit.  Unfortunately I'm still waiting.  Any suggestions or feedback is appreciated.

    Nevermind - the issue was my storage system where the movies resided.  There was a RAID controller issue causing the problem and once I replaced it and re-configured my storage media, everything is working fine now!  There is still a bit of jerky video now and then, but that happens even when the video is fully buffered.

  • Video freezing, audio continues with .mov files

    I just tried taking video with a new Kodak M1033HD camera, which it creates .mov files. When I play the .mov video file on the camera is works fine. But when I try playing it on my computer (using Quicktime as well as Windows player (using Vista OS), the video freezes, stutters, stops and starts, but the audio plays right through perfectly. Any ideas what might be wrong and how to fix it?
    Thanks,
    Jay

    This sounds similar to what I reported in, "Problem viewing video in QuickTime 7.5.5" http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1864506&tstart=105
    Sorry that I don't have a good answer yet.

  • Flash Player 10, Video Freezing, Audio Works OK.

    Hi, I'm hoping somebody can help me.
    I only really use flash player to watch things like youtube and the football highlights on the BBC website. I had flash player 9 until a couple of months ago, and everything was perfect, I was on a website and it came up saying I needed to upgrade to use the website, so I decided to do it, big mistake.
    Now when I try to watch videos on flash player on IE7 they get just over 1 minute in then the video starts to freeze but the audio plays fine throughout, at first the video is only playing about 1 frame every second, then it slows over about 30 seconds to about 1 frame every 5 seconds, by this point the picture on the screen is way behind the audio, finally the video plays in fast forward and catches up with the audio and plays ok from there for another minute or so, then it starts all over again.  When the video starts freezing the CPU shoots up to 100% usage and lowers again when the video is playing normally.
    It's actually quite funny watching the video when it plays in fast forward, especially when watching football, reminds me of Benny Hill.
    Anybody any ideas? It does this in all browsers, firefox is the worst, IE7 the best, I generally use IE7.
    My Computer is a Pentium M 1.5ghz, 1.3gb Ram, Windows XP SP2, 64mb Graphics Card, not great but was capable of playing flash videos on FP9.

    Hi s, well congrats on getting your brother's computer up and running. On your system, you have all correct Flash Player
    files for IE and FF, as well as the SWO and SWF.
    Since the Install of Flash Player, have you installed any programs that would have added any ActiveX Controls, or any other add ons or plug-ins?
    Have you had an opportunity to see if your brother's computer has the issue you have when watching the same websites?
    Are you using any ad-block in FF(Firefox) or any pop up blocker software installed?  I can't imagine updating to FP version 10 alone would cause this.
    Is this happening only on the BBC website? Does what you watch come thru the BBC website or youtube directly?
    We have your brother's computer to use to determine what is going on. If he is able to see the BBC website and what you
    are having problems with, then we can rule out the website.
    Other browser add ons, anti-virus programs, etc. affect the browser. Even tho, no problem with vs 9. Sometimes updates
    can have an affect, even with Windows as we all know:-)
    Thanks,

  • Video freezes, audio continues...

    Okay, this has been going on long enough. When I attempt to play videos I've gotten through iTunes, they won't play properly. The video freezes after a few seconds and never resumes, while audio continues with no problem. Why is this happening? It started when I upgraded to 7.1.6, and while I've seen that there are ways of re-installing 7.1.5, the method is such a headache I can't imagine there isn't an easier way. This is a frustrating problem that has been going on for some time, I can't believe Apple hasn't addressed it yet.

    My iMac G4 was playing these videos perfectly fine until this 7.1.6 update, so I know my computer can play the files. I guess I am just annoyed that fixing the problem requires me to jump through so many hoops. I'm also annoyed that I've been seeing complaints about this on multiple forums, so it's clearly not a small issue. I wish Apple would either do something about it, or stop making it so darn difficult to correct.
    All right, that was largely a rant. If archiving, cloning and whatnot is the only solution, then I'll try it.

  • Deleted audio still plays - help

    project in imovie hd. i have extracted the audio, lowered the audio in the video clip to 0%, and unchecked the audio box in the time line. most of the audio in the video clip is gone but about 2 seconds at the start and end of each video clip still plays. so you hear "and cut!" at the end!
    fyi i m working on a slient film so i dont care if all the video sound is gone. the soundtrack is done.

    most of the audio in the video clip is gone but about 2 seconds at the start and end of each video clip still play
    Do you by any chance have transitions where this happens?
    Extracting the audio from the clips before applying transitions prevents this.
