Podcasting a PDF file

Has anyone out there podcasted a PDF file?
I'm looking for an example to find out if it's something that will enhance my current podcast project.

OK
I've got the PDF file I wanted on the Allison Crowe podcast.
AND it finally got registered with the music store
http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=161125382
Now I'm trying to think up other ways a PDF file could be useful.
Got any other good ideas?
I mean, you're like a level 3. That's like I'm supposed to bow before you. If you were a level four I'd have to cower. And level 5 man, whoa! Let's not go there.
Kudos! to the apple guys that figured this one out!
What's next in iTunes 7 ?

  • ,pdf files not showing in iTunes podcast

I have always successfully included .pdf files as accompanying notes for my students' enhanced podcasts. It's always worked very smoothly and well - up to Feb 2009. Since then this function has ceased to be successful. I have had to create a separate page in my iWeb site for downloading .pdf files. Its a real pain for students as they can't get thei9r notes simultaneously with the podcast lecture. Can anyone please advise? Thanks

I am having the same problem with iWeb. This feature used to work. I confirmed that this is not an iTunes issue because I am successfully posting PDF files from another podcast publishing tool and it shows up as intended fine iTunes.

  • Blog / Podcast: I'd like to enclose PDF files (instead of .png)

    Hi there from Germany
and sorry for my English, folks. I would like to invite you to my iWeb-made (german) Blog here to make clear what my personal problem is - the enclosure of PDF-files. Please visit http://www.olemeiners.de/web/Kiosk/Kiosk.html or jump into the feed feed://www.olemeiners.de/web/Kiosk/rss.xml
I woud like to feed instead of the PNG-files iWeb made automatically (thats the prob!) my (dropped in the template and linked) PDF-files.
Background: I use the iWeb blog to show some of my published work (I'm a journalist) to acquire new jobs. But I can't find any functionallity to realize it - beside manipulating the rss.xml-file like a housewife.
When I take a look to the published site itself I find in the folder to the blog entry BOTH the png and the pdf. In my view there is no much work to add a functionality "feed original file instead of iWeb created preview picture". Would be great, not only for me, but for teachers too (see e.g.: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2208404&tstart=1).
Any idea? I'll see myself desperating in counting bytes for the correct document length of the to be enclosing pdf and crying at the next publishing via iWeb when I realize that all the manual work with the rss.xml file is overwritten.
Btw. I use 10.6.2 on more than one machines and publish to an own domain outside MobileMe

These fixes aren't working for me. I would like someone from Apple to give us step by step instructions for fixing this problem.

  • HT204365 Why did all my PDF files disappear from ibooks on my iPad

All of my PDF files disappeared from iBooks on my iPad. Where and why did they suddenly disappear? How can I retrieve them?

As far as I can work out, from incomplete downloads, ticks denote all downloaded ok.
The manually manage option is for those who want to tailor their library collections in Music and Video to specific items.  If you have this ticked, then it will sync with the sync selections in your devices pages (eg, Music, videos).
If you want to sync all of your collection 'all' the time, leave manually manage off and put the a tick in the devices' page to sync all items  Dependent on iCloud use, and or automatic download options in iTunes, new purchased items are added and synced automatically as they are added - this only applies to Store purchased items.
If you are going to added content outside of the Store, then Manually Manage is the option to take for Music and Videos - it does not affect anything else. IE Apps or podcasts, etc.
If you have manually manage off, and 'selected playlist' option ticked, then it will sync existing ticked items, but new items downloaded will require you tick them (a) after the next iTunes automatic download when it connects to the store and  downloads any items, or (b) you download to a device and then sync the device, in which case it transfers the new download to your library - but, as happened to you, deletes it from your idevice.
Retcicking and resyncing will add the item back on next sync.
Don't forget that whenever making any kind of manual change to hit Apply and resync, to stop changes being lost.
However, and i cannot stress this enough, iTunes is very problematic, especially when handling large collections.  Its sync operations can be erratic or non-functional at times (even buggy perhaps)
If all options fail, then go to your program installation control folder (Control panel\Programs etc on windows) and select to repair iTunes.
And if you have not already got it
http://help.apple.com/ipad/5/interface/  the ipad manual (not the used guide - this is more about how it operates)
    may prove usefiul to you.
    Best wishes, Ct

  • How do I get Firefox from "saving" to Downloads EVERY PDF file I open ??

    Greetings,
New to Firefox. Running Mac Leopard and needed Firefox because a business website running a business replay podcast did not recognize Safari.
So far so good. I actually prefer Firefox to Safari now.
One little thing. Every time I browse the web and open a PDF file it "automatically" sends it to my download file and I therefore have the file "saved" . WELL, I don't necessarily want to save to my download file every PDF file that I open. I just want to open a PDF file, do a quick read and move on to more browsing. How do I stop Firefox from saving to my downloads every PDF file that I open? Is there some kind of setting I can adjust?
    Thanks.

You da man...I've never done an "Ad-On". I downloaded the recommended "Ad-On" as you suggested. The program fixed my issue...NOW, I can simply open a PDF file without it automatically going to my downloads.
    THANKS
If you ever need to download a list of things, firefox can select a vertical column using the Cmd key, unlike Safari.
I have DownLoadThemAll installed and I can select a vertical group of files, right-click them and using DLTA, I can DL them to any location. With Safari, I would have to do this one-at-a-time.
Just another reason I like FF for many purposes.

  • Downloaded PDF files don't show description or "i" link to summary

I am including a PDF file in a podcast. The xml has both an <itunes:subtitle> section and an <itunes:summary> section for the PDF <item>.
Before the PDF file is downloaded in iTunes the subtitle shows in the description column and the summary is available via the "i" link on the right side of the description column.
After the PDF file is downloaded in iTunes both the subtitle/description text and the "i" link disappear.
There seems to be no way to access that information once the PDF is downloaded. The same issue does not affect audio or video files.
Does anyone know if this is by design (why?) or is it a bug in iTunes?

I'm not sure i know what you mean because there's nothing to configure there. All you can do, is tick boxes and the dimension boxes are all ticked - you can see so in the screenshot otherwise they wouldn't show up. I also unticked "hide empty fields" because otherwise, it won't show them either. Yesterday I went through the entire list to see if there was more meta data that contained dimensions but there's none.

  • How do I move folders with subfolders (containing pdf files) from my pc to ipad 3 to use in adobe reader

How do I move folders with subfolders (containing pdf files) from my pc to ipad 3 to use in adobe reader

You need to connect the ipad to the computer and open itunes.
Open the ipad and go into settings, icloud. Tap on "Documents and Data" and turn that on to sync to icloud.
Now go back into itunes and it should pick up your ipad already and tap on the ipad connection. There will pop up some taps on the center screen for sync options. Go thru each one (summary, info, apps, music, tv shows, podcasts, itunesU, books and photos).....you want to click on "Books".
To the left click the arrow next to the ipad under Devices.
The arrow will point down and open the sub menu, click on the "Books" sub menu here. You will see in the center window current books, PDF currently on the ipad.
Next go to the top and click on "File"  (file, edit, view, controls, store, advanced, help) and click on "add folder to library"...... it will bring up your computer file system in a seperate window. File the folder your looking for and add it. This should get the folder set up to sync onto ipad thru itunes.
For additional ease in doing things on the middle window of itunes click back on summary, scroll a bit and you will see "Backup", click on "Backup to icloud". Then under "Options", check "Sync with this ipad over WiFi".
This will allow you to wirelessly sync your itunes and your ipad without having the ipad connected to the computer with a cable. You just have to be on the same wireless network.
If in itunes you add something like a pdf or photo, when your on your ipad open the Ibooks or Iphoto app and it wull update the file system to match your itunes account. The sync with with anything you do in itunes and it works the other way around also. If you save files, photos, books on the ipad, using the ipad (app store purchases, games, books)....the ipad will update to itunes next time your on the same network.
FYI - both the ipad and the computer have to be on.
Itunes updates (changes you make thru itunes), does not need itunes to be open for update content to update to the ipad. This is because it updates to the cloud.
Updates from the ipad to itunes will need itunes open on the computer. So it can sync with the cloud info.

  • I'm so confused!! I just want to create interactive pdf files (with video and flash files), but this free trial version is confusing!! help!?!

i'm so confused!! I just want to create interactive pdf files (with video and flash files), but this free trial version is confusing!! help!?!

Thanks for your suggestions. I checked to see if the options you suggested were set incorrectly but they were set to sync all. This led me to think the problem was actually in the iphone. I re-initialized the iphone and did not allow the system to restore any of the previous settings. In essence, I forced the phone to reset to factory settings. Then my video podcasts started syncing. All is well now. I did notice that I had seven podcasts selected that were "HD" presentations, and as such, are not compatible with the iphone. I don't know if this had anything to do with my earlier situation, but now I'm getting the video podcasts automatically. I'm happy. It wasn't much fun forcing the iphone to forget all of my preferences and I'm still customizing the phone now several days later. I think I have everything working and back to normal except I haven't identified any of my email accounts as of yet. Thanks for your help.

  • HT4859 PDF files and audio notes

My computer due to a virus needed to be reformatted.  Which forced me to have to reset up ITunes on my computer.   I have many very important files on my audio notes app but not see anyway around not lossing them.  I backed them up to iCloud but I guess that was a waist of time.  How can I save them with the audio.  They are too large to email and if I sync they will be deleted. The same is for PDF files I have in IBooks.  I know I can Email them and have to save them but there has to be an easier way to get and save your data on the IPad.

Yes this is possible. For reading PDF files and Ebooks you need to have 3rd party apps. Which are available in the APP WORLD.
For reading audio file your can use podcast apps from BlackBerry. Just give a search in the App World.

  • When importing a pdf file in itunes

When i want to import a pdf file in itunes .
The program stops and i get the message
    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
    Runtime error in itunes .exe

    Hi.
I just started having the same problem last night. I have itunes installed on a PC with windows 7. Been adding pdfs for over 2 years without a problem. I think the only changes i've made recently have been to download the podcasts app for iOS6, the new iBooks, and the fiend friends apps. I can individually add songs and ebooks, but when i try to add a pdf i get the MS Visual C++ runtime library error.
I have tried to "repair" both quicktime, itunes and itunes updater from start>panel to no avail, uninstalled and reinstalled itunes, cleaning the registry in the process, and nothing has worked.
Oh, and i am in Spain, in case that helps. Has anyone found a more permanet solution than the dragging and dropping?
    Thanks

  • Cannot get PDF files to load on the iPad Mini from iTunes!

Cannot get PDF to load on the iPad Mini through iTunes (latest version).   I could easily do this on the iPod Touch.   So what is missing?

I solved my problem.  It turns out the default in iTunes is NO Sync for books or podcasts.  Once I turned that on I had success.   That wording should be included in the explanation on how to transfer PDF files to the iPad.

  • PDF files not sync in Ipad

After sync Ipad with Itunes Podcasts on my Macbook, pdf files downloaded with Podcasts are not showing up in Ipad. Please advice how can I also sync pdf files in Ipad and read them as as well.
    Thanks,
    KanLok

Connect your iPad to your computer and launch iTunes. Select your device in the left side of iTunes. Click on books at the top right side of the iTunes window. Make sure that Sync Books has a check mark in it. Select all of the PDFs, books, etc. that you want to sync to your iPad by putting a check mark in those boxes. Click apply in the lower right corner of the iTunes window, then click sync. This will put the PDF files on the iPad.
You can download iBooks in the app store for free and you can read PDF files with it.

  • Filename in Save As dialog when saving PDF file

I have a web site serving up PDF files. Without going into details, the URLs of the PDFs are not just your basic URL but look simething like this:
    http://www.domain.com/WorkFlowApp/Clients/demo1/secure/Promo%20Cover%20Cool-MedH i.pdf?userId=55b64ad5-28a2-490e-b3d6-4944099a390f#collab=CollabService@http://ww w.domain.com/ICCollab/IC_Service.asmx?WSDL
In this case the actual filename is "Promo Cover Cool-MedHi.pdf"
While viewing in Safari (OS X), if the user saves the PDF to their local machine, the Save As dialog comes up and the filename field is automatically populated. The problem is, instead of using just the filename, the field contains this:
    http---www.domain.com-WorkFlowApp-Clients-demo1-secure-Promo%20Cover%20Cool-MedH i.pdf?userId=55b64ad5-28a2-490e-b3d6-4944099a390f#collab=CollabService@http---ww w.domain.com-ICCollab-IC_Service.asmx?WSDL
I know when performing the same action on Windows using Internet Explorer, the Save As dialog box filename field is populated correctly with just the filename (although it shows up URL encoded as Promo%20Cover%20Cool-MedHi.pdf, which is OK).
I'd like to be able to force Safari to use just the filename in the Save As dialog box. Has anyone come accross this problem and figured out a solution?

    Hello Ebnul.nao
I am having this same problemwith trying to work this out.
Did you succeed in the end?
I will really appreciate your help if you did

I need to convert PDF file to Word Document, so it can be edited. But the recognizing text options do not have the language that I need. How I can convert the file in the desired of me language?

The application Acrobat provides no language translation capability.
If you localize the language for OS, MS Office applications, Acrobat, etc to the desired language try again.
Alternative: transfer a copy of content into a web based translation service (Bing or Google provides a free service).
Transfer the output into a word processing program that is localized to the appropriate language.
    Do cleanup.
    Be well...
