Podcasting in iWeb BIG CHANGE! Be careful

I have just finished my site conversion and realise that the .mac is no restructured. It used to put the site into Web/Sites/iWeb/your%20site%20name etc
But now it is Web/Sites/yoursitename and this is a completely different address so iTunes does not fetch your podcasts anymore from the old addy because it isnt there! So you have to re submit your podcasts to iTunes. Even the RSS file are in a different location and the media files are different names in a media folder. Have a look. Or is it just mine?

I fixed this by doing the following:
1) Recreate the folder on your iDisk where the OLD xml file would have been. For me this meant creating the folder Web/RSS/iWeb/MYWEB_SITENAME/Podcast because 'Podcast' is the name of the page where my podcast is listed.
2) Copy and paste the new rss.xml file from the new directory in which it sits onto your Mac.
3) Edit rss.xml to add a new tag under where the current description tag sits. This new line should read: <itunes:new-feed-url>http://URLOF_YOURNEWFEED</itunes:new-feed-url>
4) Upload this new rss.xml into your recreated folder from step 1.
5) I'm told that after a few days you should elete this file and folder.
What this does is redirect iTunes to the new feed so that your podcast directory listing just makes the transition. Ideally we would create a proper 302 redirect but i can't see how to do it with iWeb. This however will get to all your iTunes subscribers at least... I think

  • HELP!! "timed out" submiting video podcast through iweb to itunes

I am trying to submit a vid podcast through iweb to itunes and am getting a timed out message. Please help. I have read other posts similar to my problem, and have checked to see that all of my fields are filled in. Don't know what the deal is. thanks for the help.

This is what I received from iTunes help:
    Dear Eric,
The iTunes team reviews each podcast submission. Depending on demand,
it may take a week or two before the podcast is published.
I'm sorry to hear you received an error when you tried to publish a
podcast to the iTunes Store. If you are re-submitting a podcast for
review, the iTunes Store may detect the submission as a duplicate and
generate an error message stating that the feed has already been submitted.
You can follow these steps to resubmit the podcast:
    1) Change the title and link fields of the RSS feed to something other
    than what they are now.
    2) Resubmit the podcast feed via iTunes.
    3) Once you have successfully submitted the podcast, you can change the
title and link fields back to what they were.
There are several less-common reasons iTunes might have displayed this
    error:
    * The podcast's RSS feed was not available.
    * The podcast's RSS feed timed out.
    * The podcast's RSS feed could not be validated.
If you are the podcaster, make sure your podcast is available on the
Internet. Your podcast's RSS feed also should conform to the iTunes
    extended podcast RSS specification.

Discussions forums, which have a wealth of information about specific issues.

  • IWeb Has Changed All My .mp3s to .mov

When I publish our EZ Mac Podcast to a folder, in the Media folder, all the .mp3 files have the .mov extension. That is except for the last entry, it retains it's .mp3 file extension.
iWeb renders the file unplayable, because the listener's web browser is looking for a QuickTime movie file that does not exist - there's an .mp3 file with a .mov file extension, but that does not work. In iTunes it's the same thing...looking for a .mov, but there really isn't one.
iWeb is wickedly broken...now what do I do? We've got almost 60 podcasts and our listeners can't listen to any of them.

That was silly of me not to include the URL. Sorry.
    www.ezmacpodcast.com
To to make sure I'm clear; iWeb is changing the file extension of my .mp3 files to .mov. It's not actually converting the MP3 to a QuickTime movie. So in the HTML source I'm sure it's going to point to a .mp3, (even though I can't find a reference to any media file in the source) and since the media file is named with the .mov extension the browser doesn't load anything. I'm sure the same is true with iTunes.
BTW, I have since changed the extensions of all 58, well 57, (iWeb didn't change the extension of the latest entry) MP3 files, so everything is fine now. I wish there was a way in Fetch to do them all at once...but the files shouldn't be renamed by iWeb in the first place.

  • Subscribing to podcast in iWeb does not work???

I created and exported to iWeb a music podcast using Garage Band. The podcast correctly imported to my iWeb website, so you can visit the site and play the podcast their. This process also creates a "subscribe to podcast" button on the iWeb website, which is supposed to allow visitors to click it and the podcast will automatically be added to their iTunes podcasts library. Well, this partially works, that is, an entry IS made in the iTunes podcasts library, but the entry does not work. It appears to reference the full text page of the podcasts webpage instead of the actual music podcast, so when you try to play the podcast within iTunes you get an error message.
Any ideas? There does not appear to be a way to correctly point the iTunes podcast entry to the actual music podcast on the website instea of the text main page.
    Thanks.

Thanks for the offer to help. Here is the website:
    http://web.mac.com/mgimbel/iWeb/Site%204/Podcast/Podcast.html
I'm not sure how to find the RSS file to send. ??
In case you're not familiar with the how the process is SUPPOSED to work between Garage Band, iWeb and iTunes, it should be a simple, 3-step AUTOMATED process:
    1. in Garage Band, you choose "send podcast to iWeb". This exports the current project to an iWeb page as a podcast. (This works)
    2. in iWeb, you publish the newly created page containing the podcast. I use .Mac, so my pages are automatically published to my .Mac account. (This also works)
    3. On the webpage at the website containing the podcast, there is a button to "subscribe" to the podcast. When you click this, it is supposed to create a podcast entry in your iTunes library, under My Podcasts. (This is where the process stops working: the entry is created in iTunes, but it does not work - i.e., it does not appear to point correctly to the podcast itself, but instead to the webpage in general that contains the podcast, and iTunes can not identify the podcast from this.)
Hopefully, that helps. Sorry if you were already familiar with the process.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this.

  • Is that a big changes for changing IP for SAP in HA Env (Clustering)?

    Hi all,
Is that a big changes for changing the SAP servers IP address in HA (Cluster Environment)?
In my understand, if that is not a HA environment we can just change the SAP server from old IP address to a new IP address if the DNS configured fine.
Does anyone have experience of changing IP address in HA environment? Is the Logical IP address has to be changed also?
Would appreciate if anymore can give some guideline for this.
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Thomas

    Hi,
Theorically, you shouldn't face with any problem unless you use IP number instead of hostname, in the configuration steps. In practice, I faced many problems when I change the physical IP number, on the system. Additionally, you may face with a problem at the network switch configurations, also.

  • GarageBand Fails to post my podcast to iWeb

Ever since I loaded iLife 09 garageband has not worked right. So far every two out of three attempts to share a podcast with iWeb fails. Garageband puts up two barberpole status readouts, turns on iWeb and when it is finished----nothing. How do I report a problem to Apple. these two programs seem to have problems interacting.

I turned off auto normalize and attempted to share a podcast with iWeb. Garageband did it's thing, turned on iWeb, I noticed the spinning color icon for a few minutes, then....nothing. Normally iWeb pops up a dialogue box asking which podcast page to post the episode to, no such box appeared. Thanks for the advise, I have yet to call product support. I guess I will tomorrow.

  • How can I stop iWeb from changing the name of my home page?

I don't know if my title really makes sense, but I want to use Google Analytics to measure the traffic on my website. I know that 99% of my visitors enter through the main address (www.ozarkmtnescape.com), but are then immediately re-directed to the home page. iWeb changes the name of the main page from the above address to http://ozarkmtnescape.com/Site%203/Ozark%20Mountain%20Escape.html
The people at Google tell me that if I want to start tracking the traffic on the main page, then I have to figure out how to make iWeb stop changing the address of the main site.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

  • Replace sourcefile small or big change in source file if machines are already received old policy how they behaves

we have deployed package or task sequence into static or dynamic collection with always re-run or re-occurrence re-run settings . issue is need to replace sourcefile small or big change in source file setps need to perform stop advertisement and replace
new content update source version (update package) re-enable advertisement. now question is if machines are already received old policy how they behaves and if machines already installed package\task sequence how they behaves.

Peter is correct, however I think the crux of the question is what will the client do when the source files are updated in relation to existing deployments. The answer is nothing. Source file changes do *not* trigger deployments to be rerun. If the deployment
has not run yet, as Peter noted, the new files will get downloaded, however, if the deployment has already been enforced, there's nothing to be done as the point of the deployment to run the appropriate command-line. Once that's been done, a source file change
    is meaninglessness.

I converted the m4a file to mp3 using itunes, but now don't know how to get it back to garageband, so I can export it back to iweb. Do you know of another way I can import a mp3 podcast into iweb?

  • Uploading .mp3 files vs. uploading .band files for Podcast on iWeb

I teach high school and have my students creating audio files for podcast on my iWeb site. Most of the students give me their files in .band format, but some give them to me in .mp3 format.
    1) Can I upload the .mp3 file for podcasting to iWeb without turning it into a .band file (which I have been doing).
    2) When I drag the .mp3 file into the GarageBand program and then upload it to iWeb, the autopage looks different (no date, no place to write a little blurb, etc.) Is there any way to get them to look the same when using the Share>send to iWeb feature.
    3) I also receive frequent corrupted files (8-bit not supported with an abort button). I have never personally receive this message on files that I have created, but I can't figure out what my students are doing incorrectly--anyone know?
    Thanks for any possible help.

I am putting a link to what I am talking about--maybe that would help?

  • Creating podcasts in iWeb

I'm using iWeb to post my podcasts. I have two questions: 1. Does itunes limit the number of episodes it will show. So far I only ever see 10 episodes listed in itunes. 2. I have published 20 podcast episodes in iWeb. Itunes only lists 13 episodes. I can always find my newest episodes, it's my older episodes that are now missing.
    Thanks you
    Christy

    Professor,
If your go to the Entries page, where you can add an episode or delete an episode, just go down the list to an old episode and click its date. That brings up a little window that allows you to change the date to anything you want.
So do that for each episode that is not in the order you want. Then publish.
I think that should square you away.

  • Max number of videos in podcast in iweb

i have tried and tried but it seems that i can only add 5 videos to my podcast. i have pleanty of room on my idisk, but it seems that when i add a new podcast, one of the previous ones is removed? am i crazy???
    please help!

    Manny,
you can change this default setting from 5 to 50 by going to the INSPECTOR window found in the VIEW menu in iWeb.
When you've got the inspector window open, then click once on your podcast page in the SITE ORGANIZER on the left of the screen.
Back to the INSPECTOR, on the Blog/Podcast page, click on the BLOG side and change the number of allowed entries to 50. This changes the allowed podcasts also. It's kinda a "pump fake" if you ask me the way they wrote it, but it does the trick. Took me a week to figure this one out.
This should take care of it for ya.

Here is my problem, When I changed my podcast over to using iweb, everything went great except one thing... Below is a link to my page in itunes, I really need your help!

Hey.. got this back to another email I had sent itunes support about artwork...
    looks like it's getting fixed.
    Dear Jim,
Thank you for contacting the iTunes Music Store regarding your podcast's artwork. I appreciate your patience in this matter.
There was an issue with the Music Store which affected several podcasts, including your own. Our engineers have identified the issue and it has now been resolved. Your podcast's artwork should appear on the Music Store within 24 hours.
In the meantime, please continue to ping the iTunes server using one of the methods described in our technical specifications:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/techspecs.html
I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you and your podcast's subscribers. Thank you for using the iTunes Music Store.
