Podcasting with iWeb

I've had a podcast going for quite some time now, and I record it in GB, then I use my iDisk and iWeb to publish them to the web. It can be found here http://web.mac.com/cburke5/iWeb/TheEdgeOnline/EdgeCast/EdgeCast.html
My problem is when it comes to getting it up on iTunes. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, I go to iTunes store, then to Podcast, then to submit a podcast, at the podcast feed url, I put it the link that is on my subscribe button which is itpc://rss.mac.com/cburke5/iWeb/TheEdgeOnline/EdgeCast/rss.xml and i have to remove the itpc:// becuase itunes doesnt like it. Then short time later I hit the subscribe button (as have some friends) and iTunes pops up and the podcast downloads, then at the end i just get an exlamation mark and cannot play them.
What am I doing wrong?????

According to iWeb's Help viewer, you don't need to go to the iTunes Store - you can submit your podcast from within iWeb...
Submitting a podcast to the iTunes Music Store:
You can use iWeb to submit your podcast series to the iTunes Music Store, so that it appears on the Podcast page when people visit the music store online. Visitors to the music store can listen to or download your podcast for free.
Note: Your website visitors can listen and subscribe to your podcast directly from your website, even if you don’t submit the podcast to the public iTunes Music Store.
To submit a podcast to the iTunes Music Store:
In the site organizer, select the main blog page or the blog entry that contains the podcast you want to submit.
If the Blog & Podcast Inspector isn't open, click Inspector in the toolbar (or choose View > Show Inspector), click the Blog & Podcast Inspector button, and then click Podcast.
Enter information about the podcast series or episode.
Artist: Include the author or artist of the series or episode.
Parental Advisory: To help alert parents to content that may be inappropriate for children, iTunes provides Clean and Explicit labels, which you can add to your podcasts (or you can choose to have no label).
Contact email: You can provide the music store with a way to contact you or your podcast’s artist. This information is not visible in iTunes.
Make sure the "Allow Podcast in iTunes Music Store" checkbox is selected and then choose File > Submit Podcast to iTunes.
In the Submit window, enter the information you want to include in your podcast.
Some information—such as the fields you completed in step 3—may already appear in the Submit window.
If you have artwork you want to appear with your podcast, drag it to the graphic placeholder at the top of the Submit window.
Click “Publish and Submit.”
In the iTunes window, follow the onscreen instructions to complete the submission process.
Note: When you submit a podcast to the iTunes Music Store, all your iWeb sites are published.
It may take a while for the podcast to appear in the iTunes Music Store.

  • MP3 Podcasts with iWeb

    Hi, everyone
We're going to be making our podcasts in GarageBand and then sending them to iTunes as an MP3. Can these MP3s be used in iWeb or do we have to send them right from GarageBand to iWeb? We want full compatibility.
    Thanks.
    Dan & Aixa

Nope! Go ahead and send your finished PodCasts to iTunes as MP3s. No problem. Later when you get up and running with iWeb, you can start a Podcast template and grab the MP3s from iTunes! Check out iWeb soon....you're gonna love it!

  • VIDEO PODCAST WITH iWEB-how to deal with huge file size

    Hello folks,
I have created simple website for my video podcast. It all works fine, except one problem. I had used just small video clips for now, just for testing... and it takes long time for website to download. I can't even imagine, how slow it will be, when I have full 15 video episodes within my website. So I am wondering, is there any way of how to maintain that cool iWeb podcast structure (with podcast page, entry page and archive page) but not to embed those videos onto the page, but instead, play it externally? I have tried to just post the link to the video clip, but than "publish to the folder alternative" does not create correct rss.xml feed, because it does not know where those clips are. So it doesn't work in iTunes.
Any suggestions? Thanks for any input or advise.

    Hello,
unfortunately, no answer yet. The only solution I can think of, is to create a Blog instead of Podcast, then post hyperlink to your video file on entry page. That way, the actual video is not embeded on that webpage, but it only downloads when someone clicks on it. That way you probably won't be able to use subscribe button and RSS subscribe button, but you can create your own Feed with Feed For All software (http://www.feedforall.com), put it on your domain, then post it's URL on your website. So if someone wants to subscribe to your podcast, he will copy that address and paste it into the iTunes or some other podcast readers.
I am a beginner, so this most likely is not the best solution, however, it works so far.
    Good Luck

  • Podcasting with iweb and itunes.

Trying to get set up to podcast some of our programs and not having any luck.
We have an iweb site and when we are prompted to type in the feed URL , would that be our iweb sites URL? it comes back with cant read and invalid.
    What are we doing wrong?

What is prompting you for the "feed URL"? Can you be more specific?

  • Podcasting With iWeb -Where is my Artwork??????

Here is my problem, When I changed my podcast over to using iweb, everything went great except one thing... The artwork that shows on my page in iTunes is just a brown texture, and i can't figure out how to change it to my artwork for the show?. Below is a link to my page in itunes, I really need your help!
    http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=74846199

Hey.. got this back to another email I had sent itunes support about artwork...
    looks like it's getting fixed.
    Dear Jim,
Thank you for contacting the iTunes Music Store regarding your podcast's artwork. I appreciate your patience in this matter.
There was an issue with the Music Store which affected several podcasts, including your own. Our engineers have identified the issue and it has now been resolved. Your podcast's artwork should appear on the Music Store within 24 hours.
In the meantime, please continue to ping the iTunes server using one of the methods described in our technical specifications:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/techspecs.html
I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you and your podcast's subscribers. Thank you for using the iTunes Music Store.
    Sincerely,
    Andres

  • Podcasting with iWeb- RSS FEED TITLE?!?!!?!?

Alright, I put my podcast together using Audacity for the most part but used the new Garage Band to fix it up and add an introduction. Then I exported it in to iWeb from Garage Band to publish it to the web. You can see it for yourself at podcast.notsam.com. Now, for some reason when one hits subscribe to podcast from the site it appears with the RSS feed URL as the title. For this same reason iTunes won't accept it as the "Feed doesn't have a title." Am I missing something here. Obviously I created a title for it, and it does have one before I upload. Any help? Thanks

iWeb appears to name the RSS feed from the title text that appears on the picture frame at the top of your initial weblog page. This defaults to "My Blog" - hence your RSS feed gets this name.
I've managed to fix it in mine - http://web.mac.com/karen.hughes/iWeb/Curlypaws/Curlypaws%20Blog/Curlypaws%20Blog .html - note how the title on the picture (not the page title) is "Curlypaws Blog" and if you subscribe to the RSS feed, that is what it will be called. Not very intuitive - it puzzled me until I read the earlier post in here from jayeaster and then played around with my own site.

  • Sharing with iWeb

I share my podcast with iWeb, but when I visit the site the podcast doesn't show. It only shows with a broken quicktime logo, and won't play (obviously). I've installed the latest version of quicktime, and haven't found how to fix it. What can I do to have this podcast work properly?

  • GarageBand Fails to post my podcast to iWeb

Ever since I loaded iLife 09 garageband has not worked right. So far every two out of three attempts to share a podcast with iWeb fails. Garageband puts up two barberpole status readouts, turns on iWeb and when it is finished----nothing. How do I report a problem to Apple. these two programs seem to have problems interacting.

I turned off auto normalize and attempted to share a podcast with iWeb. Garageband did it's thing, turned on iWeb, I noticed the spinning color icon for a few minutes, then....nothing. Normally iWeb pops up a dialogue box asking which podcast page to post the episode to, no such box appeared. Thanks for the advise, I have yet to call product support. I guess I will tomorrow.

  • No success by abo my podcast done with iWeb

    He,
I run a podcast, produced with iWeb and saved on disc.
At my apple screen was all ok.
but when I put this to my servers (I tried two different), I
    also earn this:
    http://freinet.paed.com/news/Podcast2
Im unable to abo my podcast: iTunes answers:
Dies ist möglicherweise keine gültige podcast-url.
    iWeb 1.1.2
    http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=202188836
    What is wrong?
    Please help me
    Jürgen

Your RSS feed does not validate:
    http://feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Ffreinet.paed.com%2Fnews%2FPo dcast2%2Fpodfreinet%2FPodcast%2Frss.xml
The first problem is that you are claiming that it's UTF-8 when it's not.
I believe that is because you've typed or pasted in some Unicode characters that require UTF-16.
    Or possibly even UTF-32...
It's also possible that you copy/pasted from MS Word or some other kind of document.
    Don't do that!
It will have all kinds of non-standard characters in there for formatting that have NO meaning outside of MS Word.
See the double ?? in this page:
    http://freinet.paed.com/news/Podcast2/podfreinet/Podcast/rss.xml
    Those are your problem characters.
Get those to "work" in Firefox, then check the feedvalidator link above until you "validate"
You may have to live with not-quite-right characters for the umlauts and whatnot until you can work out how to get UTF-16 if that's what it takes.

  • How do I add a type tag to my enclosure with iWeb?

I encode my video with QuickTime, manage my website with iWeb, and upload it to the web with Transmit.
A few episodes ago, my podcasts stopped updating on Podcast Alley. Tech support pointed out the problem: There are no type tags on any of my enclosures.
From what I gather, the type tag tell you what kind file it is - ie, a .m4v
I don't have any idea how to add a type tag to an enclosure using iWeb, and I don't even know if its possible. I would think that iWeb would do it automatically.
Also, how do I change my feed? I originally just used the feed iWeb created:
    http://www.leilajones.com/jonescast/...esCast/rss.xml
But then set up a feedburner feed - which I now submit when I submit anywhere new.
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/jonescast
But how do I change the rss feed on my website with iWeb... I love the simplicity of it, but it's so limiting...
Also, how do I change the feed in iTunes to the Feedburner feed?
    Thanks for your help,

  • Can we have multiple Podcasts with the same Mac Account?

    Hi all,
Can we have multiple Podcasts with the same Mac Account?
For example, I have a single .MAC account and create a website with multiple Podcast pages...or within iWeb I create multiple sites, and each has a podcast.
    Is there a problem?
    Thks
    Leo

Its not possible for the same development object. Only 1 person can access an object at a time and if mutiple users modify an object new TASKs are created under the same TRANSPORT.
Only after releasing the tr you can create a new tr on the same object.

  • Subscribing to podcast in iWeb does not work???

I created and exported to iWeb a music podcast using Garage Band. The podcast correctly imported to my iWeb website, so you can visit the site and play the podcast their. This process also creates a "subscribe to podcast" button on the iWeb website, which is supposed to allow visitors to click it and the podcast will automatically be added to their iTunes podcasts library. Well, this partially works, that is, an entry IS made in the iTunes podcasts library, but the entry does not work. It appears to reference the full text page of the podcasts webpage instead of the actual music podcast, so when you try to play the podcast within iTunes you get an error message.
Any ideas? There does not appear to be a way to correctly point the iTunes podcast entry to the actual music podcast on the website instea of the text main page.
    Thanks.

Thanks for the offer to help. Here is the website:
    http://web.mac.com/mgimbel/iWeb/Site%204/Podcast/Podcast.html
I'm not sure how to find the RSS file to send. ??
In case you're not familiar with the how the process is SUPPOSED to work between Garage Band, iWeb and iTunes, it should be a simple, 3-step AUTOMATED process:
    1. in Garage Band, you choose "send podcast to iWeb". This exports the current project to an iWeb page as a podcast. (This works)
    2. in iWeb, you publish the newly created page containing the podcast. I use .Mac, so my pages are automatically published to my .Mac account. (This also works)
    3. On the webpage at the website containing the podcast, there is a button to "subscribe" to the podcast. When you click this, it is supposed to create a podcast entry in your iTunes library, under My Podcasts. (This is where the process stops working: the entry is created in iTunes, but it does not work - i.e., it does not appear to point correctly to the podcast itself, but instead to the webpage in general that contains the podcast, and iTunes can not identify the podcast from this.)
Hopefully, that helps. Sorry if you were already familiar with the process.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this.

  • Enhanced podcasts on iweb - embedded URLs misbehave

i create enhanced podcasts with chapters, embedded urls, pics. i usually export ('share') them to/with itunes and my iweb-created site. (as m4a files).
when they go to itunes, and are distributed through itunes, they behave properly, in that when a viewer clicks on an embedded URL link, the page pops open in a separate window and the podcast file stops playing.
when a visitor clicks and plays them from the website, the player opens in a browser window .. then when you click on an embedded url .... it leaves that browser window completely and goes to the page. but the podcast files simply closes ... so to go back to it .... you hit the backwards arrow, and you have to restart the podcast. stoopid. apple says it's hard wired that way, while admitting it's a dumb setup. does anyone know a way around this ? i'm not a code monkey, but i can do a little hacking if necessary. thanks ....

After checking out the history of photography, I see it uses a double text track with photo-jpeg track for the photos, this is a similar format for chapter markers on itunes movies, chapter markers are accessed via the up button on the remote, so the possibility that photos could be seen by a back door method isn't possible anyway because the up button already has a function for audio files on the tv.
In short no you can't see the photos I'm afraid.

  • Launching my Business' Website with iWeb '06

I'll try to keep this brief. Here's where I stand thusfar:
1.) I am putting together my small business' startup website using iWeb 06, due to its ease of use, having everything I need to make a nice startup site (particularly for my portfolio, blog & podcasting) & ability to update easily. However this WILL be a company site, so I need to find hosting besides mac.com.
2.) I own my domain names through Godaddy.com. I do have it set up right now to forward these addresses to my mac.com site.
3.) I need to add HTML code onto my site so I can have an opt-in list for those that want my newsletter.
4.) Eventually I will be selling my own products on my site, which I plan to use Paypal to handle payment. But I need a digital delivery system for my products.
I know there are many out there that have some great suggestions about programs & services that are ideal for the mac. Any info you could offer would be GREATLY appreciated. I am starting this up on a shoestring so money is a factor, however I see this as an investment & am willing to trade cash for ease of use (basically, if it's easy to use I'm willing to spend the cash on it).
    Thank you

Hey, thanks for your quick and helpful answer!
I wasn't sure it could be done with iWeb, since I tried to do it with my godaddy hosting package, and their off-the-rack website builder didn't allow for html code to be pasted. guess, iWeb allows for that.
My webdesigner told me, iWeb wasn't suitable for professional business websites (video & audio files, newsletters, autoresponders, password protected members' area, the works), only for granny sharing her fotos with her family... seems, he was wrong
    thanks again,
    Orlando
