Podcasts always Sync

Hi all,
I've been having the following problem over and over. When I sync podcasts they all transfer to my iPod Touch even if I don't select the sync check under the Podcast tab on my iPod menu in iTunes.
I've tried selecting only one podcast to sync but even not selected podcasts copy into my iPod eating a lot of space. I want to keep them in iTunes but I don't want them in my iPod.
I've also tried selecting "only the most recent", etc. without success at all. When I sync, always and all podcasts sync, no matter what I select on iTunes.
What am I doing wrong here?
Thanks!
PS - Don't have this problem with music, movies, pictures or TV Shows, only with Podcasts.

I just found another post that for me resolved the issue for me. Since my iPhone doesn't have enough memory to hold all my music I revert to a "Smart" playlist to eliminate specific genres (Holiday music). SInce this playlist excludes items but genre it inadvertently includes Podcasts. I assumed my playlist was music only. I'd suggest checking here first.
Hope this helps.

  • The same one podcast always syncs to my iPhone, why?

Everytime I connect my iPhone to my computer and iTunes, a certain podcast always uploads to my phone. It is a podcast that is not even on in my itunes. How come it remains and always syncs to my phone...?

Usually a song is uniquely identified by song name, artist, album and track number. That said internally I suspect the iTunes Store may allow one song to appear on more than one album while they only need to store one copy of the audio data. (They must also be able to cope with the situation, for example, where the UK & US version of an album have a different track order). It is also possible there is an error in the database that means you're not getting the song you're expecting. If you can't successfully download the two (presumably) different versions of the song then use the report a problem links in your account history and explain the issue. Hopefully the iTunes Store support staff can get it resolved.

  • Can't select podcasts to sync to iPod nano in iTunes 12.1

I cannot always select the podcasts to sync by checking the boxes next to the podcasts,  They won't check, or sometimes the item above the one I'm pointing at checks.  This problem started with iTunes 12.01 and is still there in 12.1.  The only fix I've found is to go to the podcast in my library and manually "Add to" my IPod nano, although everything in the list is checked like it should already be sync-ing.  Very cumbersome!  (iTunes 12.1, iPod Nano, 16 GB, Windows 7)

I sync almost everything automatically, but have been having this problem with the TED Talks video podcasts, which I do sync manually. (iTunes 12.0.1; Windows 7; iPod Touch)

  • Why doesn't it (always) sync?!

My main issue with the Podcasts app is simply the unreliable synchronization of playing positions between devices. Either that or I'm wrong about what it's supposed to do.
To be clear, I'm not talking about automatic sync with iTunes via iCloud - that's coming in iTunes 11 (or so they say).
What truly bothers me is something Apple says the app does and most of the time it simply doesn't.
Let's say I start playing a podcast on my iPhone and interrupt it some time afterwards. Later in the day, I pick up my iPad, launch the Podcasts app, start playing the same podcast and it resumes exactly from where it had stopped before on the iPhone. Great, it's working as advertised! Well, from that moment onwards, synchronization won't happen anymore. I stop playing it on my iPad, start playing on my iPhone and it begins where it stopped earlier in the day (as if the period when it was playing on the iPad just didn't happen). Then I go back to the iPad and it will resume from where it had stopped on the iPad. So the two devices now each has its own playing position for the same podcast, which drives me mad! Does this make sense to anyone? Shouldn't it always sync?!

Check the USB adaptor.  I have a funky USB port that doesn't work well with all cables.  Jiggle it a bit and/or try another port on the computer.

  • I have over 1200 songs in my iTunes library that have always synced fine, I have added a new album to my list from one of my CD's, synced to add it to my library but less that 100 songs are now on my device and no matter how many ways I try its not worked

I have over 1200 songs in my iTunes library that have always synced fine, I have added a new album to my list from one of my CD's, synced to add it to my library but less that 100 songs are now showing on my device and no matter how many ways I try its not able to show any more.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how to rectify the situation as I have tried every help setting for the last 4 hours.

I have tried everything I have read on the Internet about sync issues and restore etc and not there isn't a single song on my iPad or iPod touch. All of the songs are listed in my iTunes but are all greyed out, some have the cloud symbol next to them but lots don't and some say waiting.
Long and short is nothing will save to my devices at all.....HELP !!!!!!!?

  • I have always synced my Iphone 4 to a previous laptop but now want to use a new (already iTunes authorised) computer. I don't mind losing music but want to know if I will lose data such as photos or texts? Thanks,

    Hi,
I have an iphone 4, using IOS 5.0.1 and have always synced it to my laptop (windows vista, 32 bit). I have recently bought a new desktop computer (Windows 7, 64 bit) and after putting it off for a while, i've decided to bite the bullet and sync my iphone with my new computer. I have already authorised my itunes account on my new computer, and i don't mind loosing music. I am more concered though about the risk of loosing my text messages and photos on my phone.
Could anyone please tell me if i will loose the messages and photos from my phone when syncing to a new computer.
    Thanks alot,
    Chris.

When you connect the iPhone to sync with the new computer,  a number of things will happen. If the new computer/iTunes does not contain any music, then yes, you will receive a prompt saying this iPhone is synced to another library, and if you continue, you will lose your music. However, you risk losing a number of other things, such as apps, contacts and calendar data. When you ask about photos, any photos that you have on the iPhone that were synced from the previous computer would also be lost. You need to save the photo folder from the old laptop and transfer that to the new desktop. You also need to sync the contacts and calendar to the same supported application that you were using in the past, such as Outlook, unless you are using an outside web-based sync, such as Google. Also, when you first connect the iPhone, it will make a backup, or at least make sure that it does before you attempt to sync, or you will not have a backup of some of the other things, such as mail settings, SMS, and the contents of the Camera Roll. I would import the photos from the camera roll to the new computer before trying to do anything else in iTunes.

  • IPhone not removing played podcasts during sync(using the unplayed feature)

    Hi folks,
I listen to a lot of podcasts. When I used an iPod the sync unplayed option. Once I listened to a podcast it was removed (saving space for more podcasts). With my iPhone I've got the options set up correctly (i.e. set at Sync Unplayed) but podcasts are not removed once I play them.
I called up Apple support and their Tier II were able to confirm the problem and are sending it up to their engineers. Hopefully that'll mean a fix in the next software update.

I am having the same problem.
iTunes transfers all of my podcasts to my 2nd Gen iPod Nano (and replacement 3rd Gen iPod Nano), regardless if I specify 1, 3, or 5 “most recent” podcasts or even completely disable podcast syncing altogether.
How do I know all my podcasts are being transferred?
    1. I see that iTunes is copying them during “Sync”
    2. The podcasts (almost 3 GB total if iTunes transfers all of my podcasts, under 100MB normally) take up space on my 4GB 2nd Gen iPod Nano, preventing me from syncing my music and audiobooks (around 2.22 GB)
    3. On my 2nd Gen iPod Nano, illicit podcasts can be found via “Artist”, “Album”, “Song”, etc.
    4. I see the podcast files when browsing my iPod using third-party software.
What have I tried to fix this?
    1. Closed and reopened iTunes
    2. Checked to make sure I had the most recent version of iTunes
    3. Checked to make sure I had the most recent version of the iPod Software (1.1.3)
    4. Downloaded and reinstalled iTunes (7.6.29)
    5. Reset my iPod
    6. Restored my iPod from iTunes
    7. Reformatted and then restored my iPod
    8. Deleted and restored my entire iTunes Library via Time Machine
    9. Exported, deleted and re-imported my entire iTunes Library
    10. Deleted and re-subscribed to my podcasts
    11. Reinstalled OS X 10.5 (“Erase and Reinstall”)
    12. Purchased a 3rd Generation iPod Nano
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Open iTunes 7.6
    2. Delete all podcasts, move files to trash
    3. Connect iPod Nano
    4. Uncheck podcast syncing and apply settings
    5. Subscribe to podcast via iTunes Store
    6. Sync
    7. Watch as the podcasts are synced to my iPod
    5. Confirm using third-party software (or browse to tracks on 2nd Gen iPod Nano via “Artist”, “Album”, “Song”, etc.)

The only other thing I can suggest is to use the Repair option for iTunes.
Download the iTunes programme (do not uninstall your current iTunes) and then "install" the new copy. At some stage you should see an option to "install" or "Repair". Take the Repair option.
Once you've done that, if you still have a problem, I don't know what else to suggest, except to search through the discussions to see if anyone else has had the problem and managed to fix it.

  • Does Podcasts App sync with iCloud

The updated Podcasts App on my is much improved on my 4S and my first gen iPad.
No syncing issues... Now quickly and seemlessly syncs between the two even though iPad does not have iOS 6
My question is this ... Is my 2nd gen Apple TV podcasts app sync with iCloud?
    Thanks in advance
    N

Apparently it did sync only part for me although I have lost some entries within my lists within reminders when attempting to sync my mac and iPhone to iCloud simultaneously, no thanks to apple care.
Apple care set up my iCloud account over the phone and attempted to sync incorrectly resulting in this problem of mine. Since then Apple care have attempted to solve the problem but are not skilled enough to recover my lost entries from out there somewhere so i suggest you back up before syncing just in case you loose data also.
I suggest initially syncing only one device at a time to iCloud and to make sure you merge reminders when prompted.
    Hope this helps.

  • Video Podcasts Not Syncing From my iPad Mini to iTunes for Windows

Hello all.  I have the iPad Mini, and recently have been downloading my Podcasts there.
It occurred to me that in case something happens to my iPad, I should have my Podcasts backed up to my computer.  So, i downloaded iTunes for Windows on my computer.  I plugged my iPad Mini into my computer and synced it, so that my Podcasts would sync from my iPad Mini to my iTunes Library.
I noticed that all of my podcasts did sync, except for the 3 video podcasts I have.  None of the video podcasts synced.
Anyone know how I can get my video podcasts to sync from my iPad Mini to my iTunes Library?
    Thank you in advance!

Just wanted to kick my question back up. to see if anyone had any idea how to get my video podcasts to sync from my iPad Mini to iTunes on my computer.
Audio podcasts seem to be syncing fine.  Just the video podcasts are not.
    Thanks.

  • IPHONE IS VISABLE BUT WONT ALWAYS SYNC

Hi, my iphone always connects to my pc (running windows 7 64bit) but doesn't always sync with itunes!! The error messages vary from 'have lost contact with' or unknown error.
has anyone got any experience of this, I've done all the usual updating and reinstalling.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Assuming you're speaking of wifi syncing with iTunes on your computer, I've found that to be somewhat unreliable and thus never use it.

  • Same songs always sync?

I hope someone can help me, when I plug in my touch itunes always syncs my new songs, and the SAME old ones. Even when I don't have any new music, it syncs the same set of old songs. Does anyone know why this is occuring? Bad playlist? Bad rip of a CD?

This happened on mine too and someone else told me the answer.
It has to do with the album artwork. Try clearing the artwork. Highlight the songs that are doing it, and then right click and select "clear album artwork".
Once you have done that right click again and select get info and click the artwork area and select artwork and delete the artwork from there as well.
Try resyncing to see if it fixed it. When I did it it took a few tries on some of the songs to get it to work right.
Then you can try to add the artwork back in through itunes.
    Goodluck
