Podcasts and backing up

when I set up my new iphone and signed in with my apple id, all of my downloaded podcasts (in the podcasts app) showed up withougt having to download them again. so I assume they were being backed up in a cloud -- but where? according to the apple website, icloud does not backup podcasts. so where the heck were they backed up?
or did it have something to do with syncing from my old phone to the new one?  (I have it currently turned off right now, as I only use one apple device.)
I'm asking because I might have to fully restore my phone today and I want to make sure I get all of my podcasts back again. there are many that are no longer available for downlolad anymore.

ugh, never mind. almost all of my unplayed podcasts got deleted the last time I synced with itunes. ugh, this happens every single time. I'm going to stop using the podcasts app, I'm so sick of this.  I am *this close* to returning my new iphone to get something different. :/

  • Incomplete podcasts; and getting back an episode I deleted

    Hi,
I'm having trouble with incomplete podcast episodes. They sit in my library and on my ipod but are only partially downloaded. I can't find any way to persuade my machine to re-download them?
Also, I deleted an episode as an attempt to persuade a redownload and now that episode is gone from my iTunes and I cannot find a way to get the episode back ...
Don't really want to delete the whole podcast and resubscribe as I have a bunch of episodes downloaded and our bandwidth down here is pretty expensive...
    Thanks,
    Steve
    Help, please.

Delete the episode in iTunes. (press the delete key).
Then click on the little arrow next to the podcast series WHILE HOLDING DOWN the option key. iTunes will reload the index and you'll now see the missing episode. Now you can click GET to download it again.

  • The new itunes version won't give me a delete option for podcasts, AND it added back in podcasts from months ago.  Help!!

The new version of itunes doesn't give me a "delete" option for my podcasts and it redownloaded previously deleted podcasts. Help!!

I have the same issue.  Need Help, too!

  • Can I sync podcasts and ITunesU. from one computer to another that both have the same acount.

Can I sync podcasts and ITunesU. from one computer to another that both have the same account.

No.  Time Machine won't get your boot camp partition back.  There are excellent utilities that move entire hard drive contents among hard drives such as SuperDuper! and CCC, but as far as I know they don't work with boot camp partition.  My suggestion: reinstall Mac OSX on your new Mac (you don't want to hold Option key to start it everytime anyway), partition it with boot camp exactly (or similarly) as you did to your previous Mac (install the same operating system, which should be one of the Microsoft Windows I assume).  Use Migration Assistant as kaz-k suggested to move all the stuff on the Mac partition of your previous Mac.  Reboot both your Macs from the boot camp partition - I assume they are all on Windows platform.  Now you have two computers on Windows platform.  Use Norton Ghost or similar tools to migrate all the stuff from your old machine to your new machine.  Hope this helps.  Backup all your data before such operation.  Good luck.

  • Itunes won't copy over some of my podcasts and purchases since I have moved it to an external hardrive

So I Have moved over all my purchases and everything to an external hardrive. I did everything right and my itunes story works perfectly fine. However one of my podcasts (yugioh the abridged series) won't copy over along to the ipod saying its file type is not supported by the ipod. It only does this with the first 8 episodes (if you find it you will see them) one of which (the bbt movie) worked perfectly fine on my ipod before but now for some reason it won't. It also won't work on a few of the tv shows that are in hd and one music album that had american boy in it. I'm wondering what I can do to solve this problem. My itunes and my computer (windows vista operating system) is up to date and I have an ipod classic with plenty of room what should I do.

This doesn't work. The iOS4 upgrade has wiped out synchronization to Outlook to the phone and back. There are many threads on this here, and Apple has yet to address this issue.

  • After Updating podcasts and some show zero TIME and not play on ipod

Why do some podcasts not play and show zero TIME? At first I tried to play on ipod and after choosing to play a podcast it wouldn't play and jumped back to original title list on ipod. I wondered why, then went into iTunes and it showed the TIME on these as zero. Therefor there is nothing there to play, but I wonder why some different podcasts do this? Is it the website person who produced it that messed up so it wouldn't get into iTunes with anything, or is it iTunes not working? I have all podcasts set to Import using MP3 Encoder in Prefs, so then the KIND in list of podcasts show up as MPEG AUDIO FILE- does this make a difference?
    iMac G5 Mac OS X (10.4.9)
    iMac G5 Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I noticed I had to click on title name in podcast list, then I saw highlighted UNSUBSCRIBE at bottom as you said and was able to re-get podcast and it now has some minutes showing in TIME so am able to play. THANKS!
I still wonder why this happens and if it's on iTunes side or producer of podcast.

  • Sync'ing Podcasts and manually moving them to iPod

Brand new 3G Nano and I've gone through and subscribed to some podcasts and initially everything went fine--- then they started disappearing.
I figured out that if I listened to or watched any portion of a podcast it would be deleted off my iPod next sync, so I just turned off the sync option and that was that. ( I checked and yes, I do have the 'save all' option selected in prefs )
Now the issue is that I had iTunes download a number of back episodes of several podcasts and no matter what I can't get all of them to copy over. One podcast specifically:
I have 5 eps of the show. When I just copy over the whole folder only two of them copy onto my iPod (same thing if I try using sync to do it). No matter what I try they will not copy over. One at a time. Deleting all the eps off the iPod first and then going one at at time... all the same result.
    Any ideas? Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    bump.
I have the same issue. Now that I've turned on syncing for my podcasts I can not manually add specific episodes I might like. If I turn off syncing for that podcast it will not allow me to manually select episodes. The 'updating' bar shows up, but the podcasts(netcasts?) do not show up on my iPod. Was hoping this was a bug that would be addressed in the last two updates.
    Thank you

  • Podcasts and videos will not show.

My itunes won't play my podcasts, videos or movies. There is sound, but the visual is just flashing pink and green colours. I've re-installed the latest itunes, but to no avail. Is there a separate download I can get to update just the video player? Or is there another way to fix this?

The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)

There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod

  • Error updating podcasts and itunes store

I upgraded to iTunes 8.0 recently and after that, even though i have internet access, i can not get to the iTunes store and update podcasts. please help

    Hello a.mcintyre.rn,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with the Music, Podcasts, and iTunes Store app on your iPad.
I recommend following these steps for an issue like this (you can skip 4 because it does not relate to the issue you are experiencing and any other steps you may have taken):
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on),reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.

  • Just dowloaded newest podcast and I'm going crazy!

Know I'm a newbie with the ipad (Yes, it has been love at first sight with my ios devices!!) but I'm going nuts with the new podcast software that I just loaded yesterday (Nov 1)
I have the ipad4 and my software is up to date, IOS 7.0.3.  I downloaded podcasts and now when I go into my apps store the podcast software pops up and I can't get around not opening it.  I open it and end up in podcast!!
How am I supposed to purchase apps now? Are they doing away with the app store?? I can't buy them thru podcasts and I tried searching in itunes and I can't purchase them thru there either.
Anyone else having this problem?? I can't even figure out how to uninstall the podcasts so it goes back to the way it was--or is that not possible.
please tell me your experience when you open the apps store after you downloaded the latest podcast software.
    TY, Melissa

Doug, you gave me the first giggle I've had since I opened this blasted program, so thanks for that.
I'd love to keep secretly installing Freehand, because you can save your finished work as an Illustrator file, and I could then open it in Illustrator CS3, save the final as a CS3 EPS file and nobody would be the wiser ... except my tech department is prone to periodic look-sees on everyone's machines, there was a massive freakout that went all the way to the publisher's office when they discovered I'd installed .... wait for it .... free fonts on my machine that weren't part of the Adobe package they bought. In the end I had to yank the fonts out, despite showing them the read-me files that came with the fonts that expressly permitted usage in commercial applications. It's a very controlled environment. I now have 12 days left to start converting all my files ...
The good news is I'm pretty sure they're going to hurl the Freehand install disc at my head when they rip it out of my work station, so I can put it on my home iMac, where I'm still running Tiger. Now to convince them to let me work from home ...
Thanks again to everyone for all the advice,
    ~michelle

  • Let me choose between Podcasts and Music!

I realize that there are a number of threads on this, but FFS! There is no reason to NOT allow users to listen to podcasts in the Music app! The functionality was already there, we are used to it (and even like it, as it allows for problem-free mixed playlist creation), the Podcasts app is sub-par, and I download and organize both music and podcasts (and audiobooks) using iTunes, so why separate them on the phone?!

(A repost of something I posted elsewhere - trying to help others)
If it helps you at least a little, in the Podcast App, playlists are now called "My Stations". You can add entire podcasts to Stations (and create new Stations), or you can add individual episodes to the "on-The-Go" station.
Not intuitive, and not as good as having the podcasts back with the music, but it gets the job done till Apple listens to the users again and changes this back.
    Cheers!

  • Rode podcaster and runtime error.

hello, i hope someone can help me with this problem. i purchased adobe auditon 3.0 because i do podcasting and i needed a program that would support 2 usb microphones. well i have no problem getting one of my microphones to record (an MXL usb .006) but when i plug in my rode podcaster and try to use it (and this is with the MXL unplugged, so i havent even tried to use multiple usb mics yet) it gives me a error that reads "microsoft visual C++ runtime library" as the header, then it reads "runtime error! program:...rogram files (x86)\adobe\adobe audition3.0\audition.exe
this application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. please contact the application 's support team for more information."
the laptop is running windows vista, the 64 bit version.
so can anyone give me an idea what to do next?

    >and i have no clue what you mean when you say use the wdm usb driver rather then the asio ones, so any advice there would be appreciated.
Well, this is the simplest explanation I can manage that explains the important principles:
WDM drivers are the ones that Microsoft intend to work with the OS (Windows Driver Model), and they allow for the use of multiple spund devices - wherever and however they are attached. But, these drivers have inevitably got a higher latency (delay introduced in processing signals), because they sit nearer to the top of the processing heirarchy in the OS. ASIO gets around the latency problem by short-cutting most of the OS, and allows software using its engine to talk more or less directly to your sound device - singular. To use any more than a singular device would require the arbitration that the OS would have to provide, thus destroying the point of doing this in the first place.
What ASIO4ALL does is to take the ASIO-based stream from Audition, or any other software using the same engine, and convert that back to a WDM-based internal protocol. It is bi-directional, so signals coming in (like from your USB mics) can be converted from their WDM format into ASIO for Audition, as well. As a consequence, ASIO4ALL can redirect a multi-channel stream to different devices, and can also take multiple input streams from them as well, combining them into a concurrent ASIO stream. There are several penalties to be paid though - the increased latency is one, and also you could
potentially run into sync problems, but not with the application you have in mind, I think.
There is one important bit in the ASIO4ALL FAQ that you should note, but a comment on it is needed:
    >After some initial troubles with earlier revisions, the driver now appears to work just fine with numerous USB devices. one thing to not do, I mean: not ever! is to check the DMA box with USB devices. If you do not need all the additional software gizmos like EAX, EQ, Fake3D-Whatever... it is recommended that you _not_ install the drivers shipped with your USB audio interface. Windows has a built-in generic USB audio driver that works with most devices. Thus, if you want to have honest, no-nonsense, low-latency audio playback/recording with your USB audio interface - by all means: stick with the Windows driver! This is especially true for consumer grade stuff, where you can be assured that the drivers shipped with it are most likely 'consumer grade' as well.
One of the problems with USB mics is that you may well need to install at least the control applet for it, otherwise it
may not be usable sensibly at all. But, USB mics vary - so what you would need to do in any given situation, I can't comment on. In the past though, it's been pretty apparent that without the control applet, at least some of them have no sensible gain control or routing. But I would emphasise that this is very much a YMMV situation.
    >i freely admit i need to do more research and reading on the software, but i have been told by people using multiple usb mics that this is what they used, or at least earlier versions of adobe audition.
That would be true. The earlier version referred to would probably be 1.5, which was the last version to use the built-in WDM system for recording, although all earlier versions could do this too, at least in principle. I believe, though, that there were other difficulties recording from USB sources with earlier versions, so all bets are off unless you've actually tried what you want to do with a specific hardware/software combination and actually
    know it works.

  • Lost podcasts and music

This was an unhappy discovery on April Fools' Day; tonight when I fired up iTunes to download podcasts and sync my 2nd gen shuffle for work tomorrow, it's like the program was newly installed and running for the first time.  All the podcast subscriptions and archived episodes were gone, and all my music is supposedly in the cloud.
The files -- most of them, anyway -- still reside on my computer.  It's like iTunes lost track of them.  I told the program to scan for files, and it did, but the next time I started iTunes it's like nothing had happened.
When I ran iTunes last night, nothing seemed amiss.  A virus scan tonight showed nothing wrong.  The last update to iTunes was in February.
This is a password-protected account on a family computer.  None of the kids have admin rights and it's doubtful any of them would bother to hack in.
    In short, HELP!

The first link got me on the right path, and everything appears to be back in its proper place, because auribus teneo lupum (my shuffle) just synced up nicely.  (I trust it would let me know if anything on the shuffle wasn't available on the comp.)
Thank you for saving the day!

  • I subscribe to a podcast, and can't get the older episodes in iTunes.

Like for example the Radiolab podcast. I see there are 143 episodes, and I subscribe to that podcast and I get the latest epi. Fine...
But try to get the older ones... I have to go through the iTunes podcast store to click the individual epi's to get them. And it's not just with that new podcast. I have subscribed to a fair number of interesting podcasts and am only able to get the older epi's if I go back to the store and click each epi one at a time.
What's going on? It wasn't supposed to be like this. It used to work so well...
    Thanks!

It sounds like you might be on a Windows computer and the Apple Mobile Device Service isn't running. Check this support document with help for that error. http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1567

  • How can I delete podcasts and TV shows?

Hi. I downloaded my first video podcast and first TV episode directly from the iTunes app to my iPad, now that I have watched them with the iPod app, I want to delete them, but I haven't been able to find a way to do so. I have no interest on keeping them, nor syncing them back to my Mac. Is there a way to delete them directly from the iPad? Thanks!
    Cesar

    HI Cesar,
Connect your iPad to your computer. Launch iTunes. Select TVShows from the menu. You can delete the files there.
Is there a way to delete them directly from the iPad?
Not sure if that can be done.
You need a Mac with the system requirements here. http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/
    v10.5.8 or later
