Podcasts and Multiple iPods on the same Windows PC

Hi there,
I have iTunes (6.04) on a Windows XP machine (I would use my powerbook G4 but its hard drive isn't big enough!)
I have two iPod nanos (one mine, one my girlfriend's) which sync with this iTunes and it works well except for a small glitch.
I have a few iTunes-subscribed podcasts on my nano, but my girlfriend has none - but the podcast setting in options seems to be generally for iTunes, not specifically for each iPod. This means that even with her Podcasts option set to manual, she has to have at least one podcast selected. She can't set podcasts to be off - because that would affect my subscriptions.
Anyone got any clues or workarounds?

If I disable podcasts for one iPod- it disables for all (or so it seems). So because I have enabled podcasts for my nano, it has to be enabled for my girlfriend's nano too - and it won't let me select no podcasts from the list of checkable subscriptions, so the best I can do is just select one ...
This isn't the worst problem, but it does mean that she's got content on her nano that she doesn't want which isn't ideal.
Thanks.

  • Using multiple ipods on the same cpu

my little brother & older sister just got new ipod videos and while i have an ipod photo i need to know if any1 can tell me how to set it up so i can use multiple ipods on the same (windows) computer without creating multiple user accounts if its even possible

    Hello,
We have three ipods in our home - new g5 (mine) and 2 minis. We all use the same computers. Basically our library contains around 15gb of music (everyones).
We have individual play lists - mine: good music; daughters rap or thumping stuff - lol.
When you first plug your new pods on you get a screen up which asks you what you want to do (its in preferences usually). Chose the option to automatically update the following playlists and select which one you want to match with that particular pod. My youngest daughter has a few playlists i.e on the go, chill etc. so she selects around 4. I have one, and my elder daughter has a couple.
Its easy to do (especially if I could work it out). Good luck.

  • What is the best way to manage multiple ipods using the same itunes?

    Hi Everyone
i am trying to manage three different ipods through the one Itunes, all with very different tastes, not sure if I am doing it the best or easiest way so does anybody have a simple solution on what you're supposed to do, to keep it all simple!
    Cheers
    Liv

If you have created a new Windows user account you need to log out and then log back in with your original user name. By default each Windows profile will have an independent iTunes library.
If instead you managed to create a new library within the same profile. click the icon to start iTunes and immediately press and hold down the shift key, keep holding until asked to create or choose a library. Click Choose and navigte back to your original which should be at <User's Music>\iTunes.
    Your question as posed was:
What is the best way to manage multiple iPods using the same iTunes {library}?
in which case Selected Playlists is probably the best approach. Simply create a playlist for each device, Alice's iPod, Bob's iPhone etc. and sync the device with the appropriate list.

  • How do I sync multiple iPods to the same iTunes Library?

How can I sync multiple iPods to the same iTunes Library?

The same way you sync just one. If y want different media on each iPod then only select the items you want synced to each iPod
iTunes: Syncing media content to iOS devices and iPod
Try syncing using the manual method
Managing content manually on iPhone, iPad, and iPod
Also, I would go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and check the box that says prevent iPods... for syncing automatically so that you can more easily check what you want syned

How to put waveform graphs and 8bit images in the same window by Windraw VI?

Use "Invoke Method: Get Image" to get a pic of your waveform graph/chart. Then combine this pic with your 8bit image using the IMAQ tools (IMAQ ImagetoImage). If you need an example send an e-mail again ...

  • Can I run a podcast and an app at the same time?

Can I run a podcast and an app at the same time?

Yes for most.  You can run a regular app with an audio podcast.  I do not know what could run with a video podcast.

  • Question about using multiple iPods on the same PC

I've read the FAQs on this subject but I still have a couple of questions about multiple users with separate iPods using the same PC.
I want to use my family's desktop (A new Gateway with Vista, if it matters) for my new iPod Classic, but my father already has an iTunes account on there for his iPod. I know I can create a new user account on the PC and move iTunes to a shared folder so that we can share music, but will this second account be able to purchase music from the iTunes store or am I going to have to switch between Windows User accounts to make purchases and then move new songs into my separate iTunes account via the shared folder? Will it be its own separate iTunes account (separate user name, separate credit card used, etc.) or will it just be a second library that's dependant on the first?
I want to be able to have my own iTunes account, make my own purchases in it, and maybe occasionally share tv shows or something with my father.
If this can't be done, would I be better off just creating new playlists for our two iPods from the same library, or creating a second library on my Father's account?
Also, if I want to access things I've purchased from iTunes on this desktop in iTunes on my notebook, will I be able to?
    I hope that made sense.
Sorry if these seem like silly questions. This will be my first iPod as I'm really excited about the 160gig and want to know if these things are possible.
Thanks in advance for any help

    Hi, Wes.
Congratulations on your new iPod Classic and Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
For no particular reason, let's answer your last question first ...
... if I want to access things I've purchased from iTunes on this desktop in iTunes on my notebook, will I be able to?
The iTunes Store operates on a one download per purchase policy so you will have to copy the purchases from one computer to the other and make sure that you authorize the laptop to play the songs.
As to your first question ...
... will this second account be able to purchase music from the iTunes store or am I going to have to switch between Windows User accounts to make purchases ...
Whatever XP User Account you are logged in to doesn't really matter. What's important is which Apple Account you sign in to ... yours or your Dad's or - if you had my Apple ID and password - The Mimico Kid's for that matter. You can sign in to any Apple Account on any XP User Account. Or any computer for that matter.
Where the XP User Account comes into play is that it will determine where on your computer the purchases are downloaded. Files will be sent to the iTunes Music folder as specified in the iTunes Edit menu > Preferences > Advanced tab > General sub-tab. Default settings will have a different location for each User Account - C:\Documents and Settings\ user name \My Documents\My Music\iTunes - but if you've read this article in the Apple Knowledge Base, you will know you can change the location of the iTunes Music folder in each XP Account to a common location such as C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\My Music\iTunes.
Post back if all this hasn't been as clear as mud and you need anything clarified.

  • Cant open external links and multiple instances of the same profile.

    I have multiple firefox profiles.
I constantly have two profiles running at the same time.
I use microsoft outlook and see an external link, I click it wishing firefox to open it in the default or new browser. It does not and says "FIrefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system."
    Firefox is running fine.
How can I open external links with a profile based setup?
Also, how can I open multiple instances of the same profile? I find that if I click and drag a tab to another monitor, it opens a new "instance" or browser window.

    You say
    ''I have multiple firefox profiles. <br />
I constantly have two profiles running at the same time. ''
So you will have discovered ''-no-remote'' Note NOT to use that on the default browser; profile, only on secondary profiles.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_in_use#Common_causes
You will NOT be able to open multiple instances of the same profile, clone the profile if necessary.
If you are trying to run multiple Webmail accounts in one profile then you may well find the webmail is identifying and setting the user account that is opened. Use a Private Browsing window to get round that and open a second account.

  • I have an iPhone and an iPod with the same iCloud/Apple ID but I don't want have the same stuff on them?

Ok so I have an iPhone and an iPod which share the same iCloud/appleID. I did this today when I got my new iPhone I put in my iCloud details which put everything I had on my iPod onto my iPhone(I was unaware this happened). I'm happy with all the apps added straight on and my contacts added but I don't want to have all my photos from my iPod on my iPhone. I want to keep the photos from my iPod on my iPod and when I take pictures on my iPhone they stay just on my iPhone. I'm wondering if this is possible as it's with the iCloud? I have previous synced my iPod on my laptop when adding music ect but I don't know if that effects iCloud I don't really know but I'm worried if I delete all the pictures off of my iPhone then sync that then sync my iPod into the same laptop will it wipe those pictures since there off my iPhone? I don't really get how all this works so help is very much appreciated!!  And I hope what I've wrote makes sense to someone!

Welcome to the Apple Community lizzie.
If you don't want photo stream to sync your photos between devices go settings > iCloud and uncheck photos, do this on each device.

  • Can iTunes purchases be loaded to multiple iPods within the same household

Is it legal to download purchased music from iTunes Music Store to more than one iPod within the same household?
I understand the implications with teenagers sharing music in this manner; however, it seems crazy that I need purchase duplicate music to download to both mine and my wife's iPod.
I tested this with a few of the songs I purchased over the weekend and the iTunes software will allow the files to be imported into iTunes but not the iPod. It gives a message that states my wife's iPod is not autorized to download these files.
Please advise if it is legal to do this and if so how I can go about importing purchased files to my wife's iPod?

It says the files are not authorized for use on that her iPod. I made the purchases from my work laptop and updated my iPod from iTunes on my computer.
I added original CD tracts to the iTunes software on my work laptop and copied these and my purchased files to a second version of iTunes that is running on my home computer that my wife uses to manage her iPod.
I imported the folders to her computer by going to "File" and "Add Folder to Library". It brought the purchased files in to her library and auto-created a folder that it identified as imported Limeware files for the folders of the CD files.
When I updated her ipod it loaded all the files except for the 6 purchased files that I had brought in. That is when I got the message saying that her iPod was not authorized to receive the 6 purchased files.
In addition to not being able to load my purchased files to my wife's iPod, I am afraid that I will be charged for the imported CD files that iTunes automatically and erroneously identified as "Limeware" files.
Any advice? Thanks for the feedback and taking the time.

  • Syncing problems when using multiple iPods on the same computer?

    I own three iPods. An 8GB nano, a 16GB touch, and a 64GB touch.
iTunes seems to have no problems with the nano, but it seems to have issues from time to time with the two touch iPods. "Syncing" sometimes becomes "screwing up" in the form of deleting content that I have purchased.
My latest attempt to transfer a purchase (Toy Story 3) from my 64GB touch resulted in a "sync" which has basically corrupted my media libraries. I can see on iTunes that the media is still on my iPod, and even play it within iTunes from my iPod; when I disconnect my iPod from my computer and attempt to access the same media on the iPod by itself, both my music and my video libraries are showing up blank.
Has anyone else had the same problem?
NOTE: My 64GB iPod touch is not the latest version; it doesn't have the HD camera, but it does have the mic input. My 16GB touch is even older, having neither the camera nor the mic. The 16GB touch is an even bigger mess, with app icons frequently appearing as big grey blocks instead of the pictures they're supposed to be.
I like my 3 iPods. I like iTunes. I like Apple.
I just don't like it when things stop working the way they're supposed to.

Ahad bhai: if your apartment-mate uses a wireless range extender (on sale for $50 at compusa), you can easily connect to his network. You'll also need a USB 802.11b wireless adapter.

  • Is it possible to run LabVIEW 7.1 and 8.5 under the same Windows installation?

We have an older version of LabVIEW (7.1) which includes functionality for Event Notifications and the base version of LV8.3, which does not seem to contain this functionality.
Is it possible to run both of these from the same Windows Installation?  If not I plan to create a new partition and a new Windows installation just to accomodate the two of them.

Something else to consider is windows compatibility. If you are running LabVIEW on Vista, I would highly discourage installation of Lv 7.1 and 8.5 on the same machine (even if they were different partitions), since there are some significant issues in terms harware compatibility.I am running windows 7.1 and 8.2.1 on a test station with no problems, but the OS is Win XP. My biggest gripe about the dual software system is when a v 7.1 files is opened up by 8.2.1. There is not a system to prevent it from happening, and once we accidentally save a 7.1 app in 8.2,1, going back to 7.1 is a big headache.
