Podcasts app rewinding several minutes after a pause

Hi,
I am noticing that the Podcasts app is picking up an episode playback several minutes ahead of where it was when I paused it. To be clear, not when I hit pause and play it right away, but when I pause, and take it back several hours later.
There is nothing in the settings that seems to adress this...
Any ideas ?

One possibility is that your hard drive is failing. If you don't have backups of any data you don't want to lose, that needs to be your number one priority. Get that data backed up. Once you have done that, you can start exploring options.
Open Disk Utility, select your hard drive and take a look at the SMART status:
If it says anything other than Verified, the drive is definitely failing. If it says Verified, all that means is that it isn't failing in a way that the drive can detect.

if you are subscribed to the Hardwell podcast... quickly open the Podcast app and delete the most recent Hardwell podcast from 3/22.
for some reason that's causing the crash. i've deleted and it works fine again.

I am having trouble viewing iStore. It appears as if its a Flash issue, as several minutes after logging in to iStore I get a non-flash page of iStore in my iTunes window. I have re-installed everything and tried opening all ports in router, and used msconfig to bring up each service individually to see if there is an effect.Flash and iTunes have been re-installed  ...any ideas?

I agree. I don't rely on iCloud as a backup, that is what I have my portable hard drive for. Its 500 GB so I can hold my entire iTunes library several times over on it. I have all my movies on my hard drive, but somehow "The Mist" got deleted off of my hard drive, so I figured "Well, the option to redownload an already purchased movie is available through iCloud, I'll just do that!"
And permissions and download availability have nothing to do with it, the movie's still there, it still allows me to redownload it. The only problem is when I click download, I get that message.
And nobody else uses my computer, but I do have multiple accounts authorized on it. Even still though, I am attepmpting to download it through the account I purchased it under. :/

Several minutes after it puts display to sleep, network get disconnected.
I am sure that it get disconnected because I check the router traffic from another MAC and it get disconnected.
No mother if its connected by cable or wifi, it get disconnected.
In Energy Saver properties "Computer sleep" is set to "Never" and "Display sleep" is set in "10 minutes".
"Wake for network access" is checked but it will never work if network get disconnected.
"Automatically reduce brightness before display goes to sleep" is checked
All the other options are NOT checked.
I hope someone from this community can help me with this issue.

How can I make the iPhone podcast app automatically stop playing after one episode?

When playing a song, are the controls at the top of the screen there? (Genius, Shuffle, Loop?)
If not, tap the center of the page once to expose them
now keep tapping the circle on the left part of the exposed controls untill a one (1) appears...

  • L355 s7195 freezes several minutes after startup. does not respond to anything. possible faulty fan.

okay so ive had so many problems with this laptop. i got in auguast and ive had to reformat it twice, the first time was a week after i got it.
so a while ago it started this thing where it woudl freeze up 5 or ten minutes after i started it up. I had no idea what was going on, i uninstalled several programs, to see if they were causing it (aim, videogames and such) and nothing worked. finally someone told me it could be because of the system overheating. i listened to his advice and let it sit a couple hours for it to cool off. i turned it back on and it worked fine. i reinstalled everything and it worked fine for about a month.
a couple days ago i had a windows update, which it kept insisting to restart for. I had to use it for school so i waited till i got home to restart it. actually i just shut it off and i figured it would finish configuring the updates when i turned it on the next morning. I did so and after configuring the updates, it started again. Freezing 5-10 minutes after i turned it on. this was last friday morning. this time i thought i knew what the problem was. i left it off throughout the day and when i got home i took it out and again it froze. the next day i was extremely busy so i didn't even get to check it then. i tried it again sunday, mind you this was after 2 days, and it was still freezing. ive tried it several times the last couple days. now im getting really pissed. I'm about to call toshiba support but i was just wondering if there was some small mistake i was making that i can do to fix this.

  • XOrg is maxxing out my CPU for several minutes after start [UNSOLVED]

Since the last update, XOrg has been using 99% of my CPU power for about three minutes after it is started. This happens whether I am using Slim, console login, whatever; I checked with top and it is definitely X that is using up the CPU power. This happens on Debian as well as Arch.

So I reenabled "glx" and "DRI" and everything seems just fine.  I believe the culprit in my case was simply the "NoAccel" flag being false by default.
This is now what my xorg.conf looks like:

  • Podcast app won't open after updating to 7.1.1

I just updated my iPhone to 7.1.1 and now the podcast app doesn't work. When I press it, it just sort of blinks and then nothing happens.
I have tried un-installing it, and then re-installing it, but that didn't help. Thanks for any advice.

Okay. That's looking like a badly broken QuickTime (although it's not the most common message people see under those circumstances).
So we'd better try swapping out your existing QuickTime. Since it's giving you "fatal errors", it's unlikely that you'll be able to use Add/remove Programs to uninstall it. So we'll try getting it out of there by other means.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. then use it to clear any existing QuickTime installation configuration information from your PC (Run CleanUp, find "QuickTime in the entries in CleanUp, select the QuickTime entry and click "Remove"):
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Next, we’ll manually remove leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
    7. Restart your computer.
next, we'll try to get a fresh copy of QuickTime into your PC by doing a repair install of itunes.
switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the repair install.
go into Add/Remove and select itunes. click "Change" and then click "Repair".
if the repair install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching itunes again. does it launch properly now?

  • Alarms Go Off Several Minutes After They Are Supp...

I have a Nokia 5800. Ever since I upgraded to the latest version of the operating system, the alarms go off several minutes later than they are supposed to e.g. an alarm set to go off at 05:45 actually goes off at 05:48. Sometimes it can be up to 10 minutes later. Any suggestions to fix this would be appreciated.
Note I have done a hard reset and reloaded the operating system in the last few days but this has not fixed the problem.

Albums created from camera roll or photo stream don't have the actual photos.  They only contain links to the actual photos which are in your camera roll and photo stream album.  If you delete a "photo" from an album you only delete the link and the original photo is still there.  However, if you delete a photo from the photo stream or camera roll photo it deletes it everywhere.
Albums are similar to a music playlists.  When you delete a song from your iTunes library, it is also deleted from the playlist as it is no longer in your library.  If you delete a "song" from a playlist, the original song is still in your music library.

  • ITunes 10.2.1 hangs several minutes after iPhone sync

Recently updated the old 2006 iMac Core 2 Duo to 10.6.7 and iTunes 10.2.1. All works well but iTunes now goes into the spinning beachball of death (SBOD) shortly AFTER syncing my iPhone 3GS.
It doesn't happen right away. For a few moments after sync, everything works fine. Then I'll click on some element (say, Music or Podcasts or a playlist, etc.) and the SBOD appears. It just stays forever until I force quit iTunes, which then results in an annoying restart that requires iTunes to check my very large library for 15 minutes. Ugh.
Console reports a crash due to "low memory" related to the iPhone, but I cannot figure that out - there is no shortage of RAM or disk space, so it's something else.
Other parameters: Home Sharing is ON, and connects to 2 Airport Expresses and an Apple TV. Library is fairly large, 28,000 tracks of music, 226 movies and a bunch of TV shows. Never been a problem.
    Ideas??

well i'm running iTunes same vsn on a brand new iMac i7 2.93GHz and i'm constantly having to wait while the old beach ball of death appears. it usually only halts normal operation for 15 to 40secs but thats ridiculous enough. i've got 16Gb of DRAM and even with no other apps running this happens - and it happens about every 3 mins or so. crazy.
    9037 songs in the library.
i guess this is better than iPhoto 9 which crashed and refuses to boot full stop, in spite of several re-instals.
and i thought the new world of apple was gonna be rosy. hmmmm.

  • Mac continually crashes several minutes after booting.

I inadvertently posted this in the "numbers" thread" so thought I'd repost my same problem in the right group. here it is.
I just had my logic board and graphics card replaced at an Apple store. That was awesome, however, shortly thereafter, my Mac started to continually crash with it's grey screen. Sometimes it would crash as it was booting up. Other times it would crash a few minutes into an operation. But then there are times when it runs just fine for hours!
I have noticed that if I let it sit on the log in screen for a few minutes it does seem to run fine,,,however, it has also crashed while sitting in the log in screen.
Is this a sign that my boot drive is going? After all, it is over three years old! Or is it something to do with the new logic board? Any suggestions would help before I buy a new hard drive. Thanks in advance.
    Doug

Thanks for the suggestion. My apple care had run out a week before the logic board crashed but the Apple Store replaced it anyway. However, it has been a little over a month so I was worried that they may charge me. But it is worth a shot. Gotta have my Mac!
One person suggested it my be bad ram and I thought that it might me my hard drive going, but a trip to the Genius Bar could find it all out.
    Thanks
    Doug

  • Firefox crashes several minutes after opening every time I use it. I think Firefox was updated shortly before this started. Uninstalling and reinstalling have not helped. Updating all plug-ins has also had no effect. Would appreciate help fixing this.

Browser starts out working normally but within a few minutes it freezes, stops responing and I have to close it using Task Manager. When I open Task Manager, it shows two Firefox programs running with different icons even though I only opened one window.

iTunes saves out a new copy of the entire library file every time a change is made to the library. This is not new behavior.
The slowdowns I have seen like this have ususally been caused by:
    A virus
    or
Some anti-virus software is incorrectly interpreting the rewriting of the file and is causing a problem.
Either way, you should definitely update your anti-virus software and definitions to the latest, and run a full scan of your system. If that does not help, you may want to recreate your iTunes library.

  • T430s Takes Several Minutes to Shut Down

    Hey all,
I've got a T430s running Windows 8.1. The machine runs great and boots very fast (probably helps that I bought an SSD); however, when I shut down, it takes several minutes (5+ minutes) to fully power-down. The screen goes black, but USB devices continue to have power and the fan still spins until finally it powers down. The same issue happens when I close the lid and put the machine to sleep.
Before anyone blames Windows 8.1: This didn't happen right after I upgraded to 8.1. It seemed to start several days after the 8 --> 8.1 upgrade, and I'm not sure what variable changed to cause this.
    Any ideas? Thanks!

Nothing in either the System or Application logs that would indicate that there were any problems shutting down. I can see where User32 indicates that the "power off" shutdown has been initiated, then about 5 more log entries in System after that, all of which appear to be normal (i.e. related to services shutting down). The time on these records are all within a few seconds of each-other. I don't see any outliers that are a few minutes out (i.e. things logged several minutes after the shutdown).
One thing I did just notice is that I see the following Critical notice from Kernel-Power after booting up from shutting down:
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
So it's not even going down cleanly. But I still have no idea what the offending driver/service/app is.

  • SQL Developer hangs for a few minutes after being idle for a while.

Is anyone aware of any issues with SQL Developer hanging for several minutes after being idle for several hours? After being idle for several hours (and probably minimized), when we bring up SQL Developer we just get a blank white window for several minutes before it becomes functional. Obviously, this isn't a critical issue, but sure is annoying when you run into it.
    Thanks in advance!!
    Rob

This is fairly typical java application behaviour. For whatever reason, they are particularly prone to being swapped out by the operating system and take time to swap back in.
There is an add-in around called "keepresident" which helps this but I thought it had been superceded in later JDK version.
