Podcasts are showing up under Albums, Songs and Artists categories on iPod
I recently purchased an iPod - 80gb. I used iTunes to subscribe to several podcasts.
On iTunes the podcasts are in the podcasts folder, the music is in the music folder - happy days!
However, on my ipod, as well as being listed under the podcast category, they are also accessible from Albums, Artists and Songs. This is seriously annoying.
Is this a bug? A girl who worked in the Apple store seems to think it might be when I brought my ipod in for them to check.
I use iTunes only to manage podcasts and music. I tried a restore and it's still the same.
The related issue is that while the podcasts sync fine and appear as desired in the podcast category, the played podcasts are still available via Albums, Artists and Songs even though I've instructed iTunes to only sync unplayed items.
Will this be fixed? Is there a workaround?
Unless Apple changes the software, there is no real fix. If you don't want podcasts to play when you're shuffling your music library, make sure the podcasts are set to Skip When Shuffling (under Get Info). And you can send your feedback to Apple here:

Podcasts & Audiobooks show up under Music Songs
Hi. I have my iPod rather organized and I like that. The Podcasts show up under Podcasts and the Audiobooks show up under Audiobooks.
However, now I notice that when I go to Music>Songs both my Podcasts and Audiobooks show up there. I don't like that and I don't want to access them that way. Is there a way I can change the settings so that the Podcasts and Audiobooks don't show up under "songs"?The Music>Songs folder just lists ALL the audio files on your iPod. That doesn't mean that they'll play along with your other songs though. By default podcasts and audiobooks are usually set to the "Skip when shuffling" option.
So, selecting a song from Music>Songs won't add the podcasts and audiobooks to your Now Playing playlist. Just try it out. Select a podcast from your Music>Songs list. This will add only this podcast with the rest of the other Music files (that's the list in iTunes).
I know it's weird. Here's what you can do. Make a playlist with all music with options to remove podcasts and audiobooks. -
Why my tracks are not shown in Album view and Artist view, only Album Artworks are shown???

I have not have this problem in the previous version of iTune. As soon as i upgraded it to iTunes 11, it happens.
The problem in here is all my songs, tracks are still here, i can see all of them in "songs view". However, when i change the view to Album View, and click into the Album artwork, there is no track there. When i double click into the Album Artwork, the first song of the album will be played normally.
Same story to the Artist View. Only the Album Artworks are shown and the rest is completely blank.
I have absolutely no idea what is going on here and obviously i am not satisfy with this new version.
Is there any way for me to fix this problem? Please help!
Otherwise i will need to use other software for music playing.

how can you get a compilation album to show up as one album rather than be split up by song and artist? I've got loads of albums on iTunes that are compliations and they are all mixed up by track/ artist. Even when you click 'show album' it still just shows the album title and then the artist in alphabetical order - so the album is replicated several times

My itunes looks nothing like the examples in this tutorial. I do not have "display exact duplicates" or "date added". Can someone please help me remove duplicate songs? Also, I downloaded two audio books and they are showing up in my song list. Why???
'Show duplicates' is now under the 'View' menu. To see the 'Date added' column go to 'View options' from the 'View' menu and check it in the section under 'Stats'.
Click an audiobook once to select it and hit command-i (Mac) or control-i (Windows). Go to the 'Options' tab and set 'Media Kind' to 'Audiobook'. -
Why are some of my songs showing up under # instead of first letter on my iPod?
Kinda hard to explain so I'll add a picture.
Anyhow, some songs on my iPod are showing up under the # category instead of being under the letter that the song title starts with. Anyone know why? I thought it was ones that I uploaded from physical CDs that I bought, but it's also happening with some songs that I buy from iTunes/Amazon/etc. too!
Its really frustrating because if I want to listen to a certain song, I either have to look through the # list if it isn't categorized right, or I have to click artist and search through that way.
Example: 'Dirty Country' should be under the 'D' category, not '#'Hi ...well...I tried what you said or atleast I ATTEMPTED TO:) ??? and I dont know that It worked..it still didnt do what I thought it would and yes, I will admit your advice sounded great and if ....and I do mean IF i were a bit more TECHY I think it would have worked great..lol ...its not your advice to the solution to my problem.....I am actually unable to figure out exactly if I am doing it right or not..so I will continue to try it again > and see if it will work out...and if you have any other advice on the problem Im having I sure would appreciate it....I just wish that I were a bit more Techy so that I could pull off a "what is probably a simple fix for smart people like you..but I am so not with it and I just look at it as a MESS and I dont know really still how to fix it...but I do appreciate your time..and for you insight and trying to help me...I just dont think Im doing it right and or doing something to it thats causing these issues to still happen...but I look online and it seems that he double songs seemingly are fine...they are most all kinda gone away..but when I did the hard reset..turn off like you said and did the whole turned off the Itunes Match app...and then turned phone back on and turned Match back on...songs on my phone...STILL THERE...:( I D K????? so thanks and if any more advice ? All my music and podcasts synced through iTunes are scrambled up. The songs and podcasts start in the middle and skip around. It happends on 3 diffrent Windows computers with 2 diffrent iPhone 4's.
Anyone have any ideas or did my wife and myself just get defective phones?
Like I said all songs and podcasts start like 30 sec in them jump back to the intro then to the end then the middle. Its quite crazy. -
Album in iPhone 6 showing up under album, but not in artist?
I copied a CD onto my Mac and synced my Mac to my iPhone 6. On my Mac, the album shows under artist AND album but on my iPhone the album only shows up under Albums and under Various Artists on my iPhone. I'm confused.. HELP? Please

I understand that you have an album on your iPhone that does not mirror the same album data as iTunes on your computer. I would try and adjust the album data so that it reflects the correct information. The article below should help you correct this information.

I have given up on my dell and bought an iMac 27"... Now how do I transfer my dell iTunes playlists from my dell to my iMac, as they are showing on the iMac when I plug in my iPod but it's not allowing to me to play them as they are shaded? I have also separately transferred all my music via my external drive from my dell to my iMac which is showing in iTunes but won't upload to my iPod... Just to confuse you even more my AppleTV which is linked to my log in email address and home sharing is showing and playing all the playlists I want to see on my iMac... Phew that was exhausting hope you understand and can help me:-)
You may have transferred all your songs, but your iPad is seeing the library as a different entity.

I'm using Apple Mail 2.1.3 on a MacBook running OS 10.4.11. A very strange thing is happening. E-mail messages that I either sent or received months ago are showing up in my mailbox and receivers' mailboxes. In one case, a message someone had sent to me wound up in the mailbox of a third person, who was not included in the address list!! I have only two accounts, and have checked everything; only one account is showing the repeats Now, that account is my professional account, and it resides in three places: I use it on the laptop described here, I use it through Apple Mail on the much newer desktop Mac in my office, and I can run it through Web mail on my employer's server, which is where the professional account resides (I have a mailbox there, etc.) That program is called Zimbra.
My personal account is with Earthlink and is not doing the repeats. I access it either through my MacBook's Apple Mail or the Web; the Apple Mail on my office Mac is not configured to access the Earthlink server.
What IS going on here?? My friends, colleagues, and students (I teach college) are mystified by these ancient messages.

Song and Artist display differently in landscape mode (iPod on iPhone)
I have a CD Compilation *50 Best Songs Ever*. When I play any song from this Compilation on my iPhone, if I turn the phone to landscape mode the Artist defaults back to the Artist on the 1st track, but if I turn the phone back to upright mode the Artist shows correctly.
This is a CD Compilation of various artists, and the only one it seems to happen to.
Any thoughts?

iPhone 1.1.2 (3B34b)No, the OP is correct, there is some sort of funky bug here. I have noticed it too. To the extent that it is almost comical. In portrait view the song/artist/album artist/album art are all correct; then switch to landscape view and you get a comical mix of songs from different artists, wrong album art (from first one in list) and the name of the song and artist are wrong, and inconsistent with what is playing. Rotate back to portrait view and all is good again.
It is at best a minor inconvenience, and I love my shuffle anyhow, so the randomness of it is sort of fun/funny.
But it is definitely a bug.

Hello, i just downloaded the itunes 11.0 with the completely new widow format. Mow do I drag songs and playlists onto my ipod? I see where my ipod is on the upper right side of screen but it will not accept any drops. Please help. thanks
Not only this but I can't drag from Itunes and place anywhere on my desktop or onto an external drive. Apple, why are you screwing around with basic functions!? I'm a dj and I need to be able to manage my music files without you ruining my life! FIX THIS!

I've found no way to sort search results in itunes. For example, if I type the group "Rush" into the search bar, I get a list of songs recorded by rush and literally thousands of other songs and artists with the word rush in them. There is; however, no way to sort the results.
In the Search box click on the black Arrow and UNTICK the Search Entire Library.
Then the Search results in Songs view will be displayed in the main Grid and you can sort them by clicking on the column headers.
You can also turn on the column browser which can help with filtering
